I got a VIP email from XBL and took a spin on a roulette....Won $50 in Rewards credits. That's great, but then I saw you could win all kinds of crazy shit and immediately felt like an entitled, ungrateful brat because I really wanted the ultimate gaming PC lol.
 
I logged just over 50 hours in ME:A since July 4 and needed a slight break. Used some of the credit stockpile to get ODST for the MCC because I'd been wanting to replay it after re/playing the first four games. I wish ODST was longer, because it's really good. Easier than I remember minus a few brief sequences, but really good.

For ME:A, I think I'm losing patience with side-quests and may just push through the story, but then I find myself chasing icons half-way across a map until 1am.

What difficulty are you playing on? Give yourself a challenge some what and do hardcore or if your a masochist go for insanity.
 
Something quirky I just noticed that I'm going to try to explain. I have a 1 TB system along with a 4 TB external and 2 TB portable HD connected. I have a lot of games saved multiple places because of my monthly data limit and fear of something going bad. Of course this is a nightmare when it comes to updates because it seems to randomly pick which copy of the game to update if it's located multiple places (I have a 2nd XB1 that I keep updated via the portable drive).

Anyways, I had been putting off the Doom update but finally had it queued behind the Wildlands update that just hit. When I checked "manage game" on Doom it showed the 2 TB version as queued but I wanted it to update the internal drive version. I unplugged the 2 TB drive and the queued update disappeared and doesn't pop under the updates area anymore. I then proceeded to boot up Doom and could get into it and play just fine.
 
Doom is definitely worth the $15. For those worried about replay value because of MP being meh, the SnapMap mode fills that void. Yes, it's user created stuff, but by now there is a ton of great stuff including new story stuff (though told through text), and up to 4 player co-op. They kept adding stuff to that mode over the year so quite a bit can be made now.

Single-player has a lot of content as well, they added an arcade style mode for point that gives you all weapons on all stages, plus the many actually good secrets to find in the normal campaign.

I hope they detail the ReCore update soon, since the tile already updated I assume it's coming soon.

I'm playing on Normal because I didn't want it to be a slog. I usually play on harder difficulties than the normal/standard because I enjoy the challenge, but for a game this long I was worried I'd get burned out. I plan on doing a New Game + on Insanity, though.

I think the update recompiles the base game completely and replaces the original footprint. I still had it installed from when I had the disc, and it still downloaded the full 50GB update. If that's what they did, then does that mean when someone buys it at retail, it's going to want to download that regardless? So much for buying real discs to spare your bandwidth.

It's pretty likely that they'll have to redownload some of the original game they installed from the disc, yeah.

Digital owners will be downloading the most up to date version automatically, so at the very least, it benefits them.

Anyone have a Onkyo 4K reciever working correctly with their Xbox One S? Only can get all the green checks when HDMI is set to 4:4:4 on the receiver but then the screen flickers. Tried different HDMI cables and hD the same issues. Specifically using a Onkyo TX-SR373.
 
Spent the past few hours playing Fortnight.
I really enjoy it. Cool mix of crafting/fps and tower defense.
Will say that dont think any version above the 39.99 one is worth it. They appear to only give like legendaries and such, but the drop rate in game is really fair.
Did anyone else pick this up?

I think this will most likely be an Ori situation where the upgrade is free for awhile. I put this game in the backlog when I heard rumblings they were working on this and when I heard the horror stories about the collectathon ending.

I am so torn on Doom....I know $15 isn't a bad price, but I feel like it will be $10 at Christmas. I just purchased 36 games on the 4/$10 GS sale plus added Just Cause 3, Injustice 2, Far Cry Primal, and Blops 3 to my backlog....then to top it off I want the DMC HD Collection for $3.99.
This cheap ass hoarding is stressful
 
Completed the Forzathon this morning easy one.  Picked up the car which I didn't already have so that was nice.  Just got Doom started before I had to get ready for work.

My wife got a free Redbox Rental code so I picked up Horizon Zero Dawn.  So will be playing that tomorrow at least.  

Might not get back to Doom before the free trial ends.  Might just grab it for $15 anyway.

Nah, after one version is updated I delete the others and copy the new version over. Since I have two XB1s that was the only way to avoid having to download all the updates twice for games I might have on both systems. But I've gotten better about trying to minimize that so I don't have to do that but so often.

As for my issue earlier, after I restarted my system it finally popped the update again. Weird I was able to bypass it for a bit.

Sure, but clearly the publisher is doing a fire sale right now. It can only go down in price for future sales. A 10 spot in the near future seems certain. I probably will grab it as my OCD will win in the end, but I see me kicking myself in a few months for not waiting.

I'm looking at it like the single player is worth ten bucks and the mp is five bucks tacked on to the price, so since I'm not interested in the mp part of it is it a value for me, especially since I didn't really enjoy the first single player level. At ten bucks I'd bite, at fifteen it doesn't seem worth it just to have it sitting on my owned list. I like to take my time with games and Doom seems to be run, kill, run, kill, go, go, go. Not a gamestyle I'm fond of.
 
$15 to experience Doom and me without an Xbox One. There's only one thing to do:

Save more money and turn on the PS4.

Doom is a ridiculously entertaining 15 hour testosterone filled demon buttfucking set to a metal soundtrack. One of my favorites of last year. The need to utilize a combination of speed and visceral violence to regain health and ammo was a great design choice as well
 
Doom for $15 isn't bad, but by the time I get to it, it'll be $10 or less and by the time I get it for $10 and get around to playing it it'll be GWG.

I literally just played it a week ago. I think normal mode is fine. I still died a couple times, and you have to play plenty of the later fights smart to avoid dying/ running out of ammo and having to take pot shots at large enemies with your dinky pistol. Boss fights especially can even get annoying on normal mode though so I would be hesitant to advise a higher difficulty for a first run through.
