MvCI has great gameplay. The overall presentation feels cheap though. With fighting games I'm more personally concerned with gameplay. However visuals are what make the game fun for viewers and bring people in that otherwise would not try the game. Money lost from not attracting new players means less support from Capcom.

However SF5 is still being supported despite not reaching financial goals, so could last longer and I hope it does last a long time.
I think Street Fighter is more important than MvC to Capcom overall, more was bet on it so they needed to keep it alive and try to right the ship. Japan isn't nearly as big on the MvC games as they are on Street Fighter too. While some of the core complaints were the same if not a bit worse, that somehow managed to work to it's advantage. Like the lack of story or arcade at launch was disappointing, but them being gone wasn't as bad as the totally phoned in story of MvC:I, especially when they said they'd be coming as free updates. And while I'm definitely not one to totally discriminate against a game for it's art style (unlike some nut that couldn't deal with Wind Waker's beautiful and expressive art style), I agree it's a major knock against the game drawing in casual players or viewers for stuff like Evo.

Capcom really needs to get it together, the competition is starting to make them really look like amateurs, or at least way out of touch. While I think it's fair to say that their gameplay stands up to or even surpasses games like Tekken 7 or Injustice 2, on pretty much all other fronts they look lazy. SFV does have a good art style so I won't knock it there, but both Injustice and Tekken look fantastic visually, have AAA quality (at least in effort) story modes, along with a lot of other modes and stuff to do. The rosters are just as big or bigger before DLC even though they aren't tag team (Injustice 29, Tekken 37), and NetherRealm actually had the balls to swap out about half of their roster for brand new people, rather than recycling 90% like Capcom did with MvC.

has anyone won anything in the forza raffle beside VIP,hoonigan, and avatar? I can't find a prize list anywhere and think that may be all the instant win prizes so theres no point in continuing to play
I won a month of gold along with the hoonigan pack and avatar suit. No VIP.

Minecraft issues I had appear to have been addressed in the latest update. Being able to play with friends on other platforms is great. Last week played with a friend I haven't played much with in years because he switched to PC when X1 launched.

Anyone who played Gone Home and enjoyed it at all, this is an interesting read. There's a lot more nuance and dark stuff in the story than the central narrative let's on:

http://indiehaven.com/the-darker-story-of-gone-home/
I've got to disagree with this statement here:

"Despite veering towards fantasy in its final act, it’s an endearing tale where young love can conquer all, and it serves as an honest and relatable depiction of what it was like growing up queer in the nineties.

Because of that, the game drew an adverse reaction from those who saw it as a slight against traditional video games. Some felt they were mislead into playing Gone Home by the promise of a horror game, only to find a coming-of-age queer love story in its place."

I don't think anyone but a small selection of idiots disliked the game because of the lesbian focused story, the major negativity from those who viewed it as "a slight against traditional video games" was more the connection to the walking simulator genre, with a negligible gameplay during a two hour max completion time, with virtually no replay value. It's a lot closer to an interactive movie or audiobook, when compared even to stuff like Telltale's games, which at least have light gameplay and decision making. It just managed to do pretty well critically and gained some ground, if a different game like Dear Esther had blown up, I honestly think it would have gotten an even harsher reaction since there's even less gameplay in it than Gone Home.

Personally, I was never under the impression this was going to be a horror game even when it released years ago, and the story was written in pretty realistic and grounded way so I don't see normal people being bothered by that, probably just bored at worse. I enjoyed it more than I expected and will be keeping an eye on this team, but I don't see myself ever buying a game like this at the full $20 price.

I don't know how much of a future this genre has either. Fullbright's own Tacoma came out two months ago with virtually zero coverage or discussion, and I think the studio behind What Remains of Edith Finch said they were taking some time to reevaluate their future plans or something like that.

My summary of gone home.

Boring.

The most exciting thing was turning on faucets to get an achievement that referenced home alone. Don't waste your time on it. Just delete it.

TL/DR:

It seems pretty clear that Kaitlin and Sam's father, Terry, was sexually abused by his Uncle Oscar, from whom he inherited the house. The correlations between Terry's height measurements, the letter in the safe, Oscar selling his pharmacy to avoid "all temptation," the obsession with going back to 1963 to fix bad things in his novels, the depression and drinking Terry suffers from unresolved trauma which he starts writing about in his electronics reviews. Moving into the house, the site of his abuse, has brought it all to the surface, and it starts to ruin their marriage, as the mother starts seeking companionship with a coworker. It all adds up, and as someone who works in a trauma field, makes perfect sense. The article does a much better job explaining it, though.
I gotta say Gone Home is a way better story than a video game.

But that's the perfect design. "Game Cube".

Any opinions on a good replacement controller? I can't afford the elite though.
IMO, Lunar white is the best non-elite controller out there.

edit: Speaking of controllers, X1>>>>>>>>>PS4. I don't think it's anywhere close either.

The entirety of Gamergate just flashed before my eyes.... I am now reminded why CAG and TA are the only video game sites I still have bookmarked. Six’s response here is how I felt and I got sick of being preached to real quick.

I’m gonna go play Forza to get that burning out of my eyes.

FYI to all Forza 7 players. I'm part of the group that's pissed about the in game economy and having to grind credits to buy crates cars driver gear etc.

I just happened to stumble upon this money glitch and I'm going to take full advantage while I can.

No I don't feel bad about it either. I'm Tier 11 in Forza Rewards and have busted my ass in every Forza game I just feel that they have made payouts so low that you have to choose between buying a new car and a mod pack. The loyalty rewards were a complete joke as well with all the common crates they gifted me. Longtime Forza players will know that loyalty rewards have been pretty good leading up to this game. As for the VIP apology I pissed through that 1 mill VIP gift in a hot second because this game isn't setup for you to bank credits.

Anyhow, if you want to boost your in game credits or pick up a ton of cars I would utilize this before it's patched.
Thanks for this. Turn 10 has screwed up the launch so badly (I can't load my car packs or VIP, or VIP bonuses) that I have no problem doing this to give a big middle finger to their microtransactions. Must be what Belichick feels like when he cheats.

Now I know why I like the music in Gone home. The lead singer /guitarist for Heavens to Betsy - Corin Tucker - is also does vocals & guitar in Sleater-Kinney.

I'm not familiar with either band, but their sound reminded me a lot of some of the local bands I used to do shows with back in high school 11 or 12 years ago. I'm not sure what that says about anything, but it did give me that authentic music scene feel even with a decade separating my era and when the game was set.

I've been grinding this on and off today. Does anyone know if the cars you get offered at discount will be available again later at discount if you opt for the credits? I was going all in on cars but have now run out of money so I was going to go for the credits if the cars weren't one-time offers.

So the digital version of Fable Anniversary is $40?!!?? Yea.....ok. The wait for $10 it is!
IIRC, it has never hit $10
Store Parser shows it was on sale that cheap a couple years back. Been on sale a few times since, but not quite as cheap.
I've been checking local pawn shops. No luck so far...
The Trilogy has been $15 several times. It felt weird buying it because I already owned Fable 3 from GwG and had both 2 and 3 physically, but this was the cheapest option to get 1 digitally.

Ugh, I saw the Pacific Rim Uprising trailer, and it looks like dumb generic garbage compared to the first one. I wasn't surprised to learn del Toro did not direct the sequel. It looks like Power Rangers + Transformers + monsters now. :(

The new director is trying to stay faithful to Del Toro's vision. I'm excited!

The new director is the guy who made the Spartacus tv show, and I think he was fairly heavily involved in the first season of Daredevil.

Looks like opening weekend for Blade Runner wasn't that great, which is a bummer because I enjoyed it a hell of a great deal more than the original.

He needs to try harder then. Maybe it's a bad trailer, but I have lost all excitement I had about a new Pacific Rim. Everything is lit too brightly, the CGI has that "too clean" look, for some reason John Boyega playing Idris Elba's character's son means he has to have the exact same speaking tone and mannerisms as his father, the Jaegers don't look like they have real weight to them anymore, etc. This trailer does not at all convey to me the vision or tone of the first movie.

And it looks like they sat down and asked ,"Hey, what did people like in the first movie? Let's just do that, but more," because now there are a TON of robot ninja swords, and they all glow with some weird energy. At least we still have the great first movie which neatly wrapped itself up without leaving a sequel-necessitating cliffhanger at the end.

^That's what Hollywood does though.

Movie industry, what worked... Ok let's do that again as that made money.

Games industry, what do we need to improve on... Ok let's address that and put in some cool ideas.

That sucks. I personally would put it right about on par with the original, maybe liked 2049 a little more, but loved them both. Looks like it’s going to make about $30 million which would be respectable for many movies and blows the original out of the water. But I didn’t realize it cost $155 million so that is a massive flop.

So sad...

Maybe most people can’t handle intelligent sci-fi and prefer more popcorn action flicks. Another factor with the low number may be its running time. It’s like 2 hr 44 min. That cuts showings down by about 1/3 compared to most movies. So if this were an average length movie, it may have made $50 million opening weekend.

Opening in October probably doesn’t help either.

Anyway, regardless, it’s depressing because the film is amazing and deserves more success.

If you do this enough times the cars will cycle through. I've literally gotten every driver suit and there's only a few legendary cars that haven't reappeared yet. PS here's two new videos. One is a super easy way to get XP and the other is a way quicker method of the video I originally posted.

I can now focus on racing any car I want and working through the career mode. This takes the grinding feel out of it. I feel like this is going to be psyched so I'm going to continue farming money for now.

All movies are down. Many fa tors go into this but here are few reasons

1. People are scarred to go theaters beacuse of shootings

2. The price of tickets are too much

3. At home eguipment is on par with theaters. Who wants to go to the movies when you can watch it at home.

4. Pirates. Its too easy to pirate movies illegally.

5. Actors. Americans ( mostly Trump supporters) are boycotting movies because actors generally have opposite views.

$20 with GCU. Having played the first two in the remasters, they're really well done. $6.60 for each game ain't bad,  I like having digital games for things I'll come back to repeatedly (Destiny, Borderlands) but for games like this, discs are just fine.

I'd also add the quick turn around. For my wife and I to go to see a movie, it costs us $20 to see a matinee once and that is IF we don't want concessions. If we wait 3 to 4 months, that same movie can be bought on Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital combo for $20 at release, allowing us to watch it anytime we want. And that is if we don't want to buy the digital codes second hand for $5-$10 and just watch on our Apple TV/Xbox One.

Yeah, the quick turn-around I think is the biggest thing. There's a discount theater in town which gets movies as they finish their theater run, and Netflix, Prime, Redbox etc. means you can see a movie for cheap or within a service you already pay for if you wait long enough. To drop $8-12 on a movie, it's gotta be something I'm dying to see. Episode VIII, for example, will get my money.

I’ve got Moviepass and have seen almost everything in the theaters except for Blade Runner, which is the only movie I really want to see. I usually head to the movies around 10 or so, once the kids are in bed and a 3 hour movie is way too long at 10pm. Definitely looks great, but need a little extra planning to make it happen.

I did take my older daughter to watch My Little Pony yesterday, provably actuall better than Ninjago as far as kids movies go

I got stuck early on the first one. Played Infinite for free on PS3/PSN. Might have to grab this for the back log.

My Xbox keeps giving me an 0x80070490 error when I try to play a game on disc, I am able to install games and it can read them....just not run them, I was just gonna grab the Skyrim Survival thing while it's free and this is what happens, thanks Todd :(

Maybe try a hard reset and clearing the system cache? I had to blow compressed air into my phat xb1 a couple times because dust was preventing it from reading my discs well 100% of the time.

Yeah, if it weren’t for Movie Pass, there’d be few movies I’d fork out for (though Blade Runner 2049 absolutely would have been one of them). I’m sure more people would use it if they knew about it. I’m sure those that know about it also may be skeptical of whether it really works too.

That said concessions are still outrageous. I’ve been trying not to partake in those so I get the most value out of Movie Pass.

I used to audit a theater, concessions is the only place they make money. The movie tickets barely cover the expense of them showing the movies. The margins are really slim on theaters so I wouldn't be shocked to see more close down as ppl see less movies in them.

Me personally, I like going but I have kids so I have to buy tickets plus pay a babysitter so it makes it way cheaper just to buy a movie or wait for it to be on Netflix or another streaming service. I don't watch awards shows or regular tv so I rarely hear about new movies anyways until they hit a streaming service.

Hmm, yeah so far I've tried hard reset, cleared the cache, did a full system restore, removed and readded my profile, tried starting the games while offline or with no profile, it's not even a year old S which kinda sucks if the drive is going bad, but it's really weird it let me install the game and could read it, but then can't play it.

I had to end up replacing my external hard drive. Everything would work while I had my external hard drive unplugged but as soon as I would plug it back up and install any games to it, it would not allow me to play any game.

^ I'd like to know this as well. Do you have an external HD? you may have to reformat it again and see if that fixes the problem..... if you can play games with it unplugged that is. Or you could always try the hand dandy dumpster trick!

All digital games work, tried moving Skyrim to the internal and running it with just that on, but still got the same error, no luck so far with disc games :( I think I'll go the warranty route before I do the dumpster one though lmao, thanks for the suggestion though!

Apparently Blade Runner 2049 opened better overseas with $50+ million and still yet to open in many markets. So with the $31.5 million in the US maybe it’ll still earn enough over time to recoup its $155 million budget. Honestly that budget was an insane crapshoot to spend. Blade Runner is a cult hit but why anyone would think it would do Star Wars level business with a $155 million budget was just stupid. I bet it could have been made with half that and still looked damn good under Villeneuve‘s direction. It looked gorgeous but many of the more effect driven scenes were shrouded in a haze.
