So I've been watching a few reviews of Shadow of War. It sounds like they really did balance the game around not buying lootboxes, then let WB obnoxiously put reminders and store links everywhere. Still not a good move for the industry.

EA is trying to claim that you'll still have to play the game to rank up and equip higher tier star cards, but that doesn't change the cards themselves from being pay to win. The classes and squads are a great addition and I had a lot of fun in the beta, but I'm not looking forward to grinding against people that bought their way to the top. I really don't like the idea of buying progression, but I would have dropped an extra $50 on a season pass. It would really make the game more fun for my bro and nephew I gameshare with that don't have a lot of video game time. Ugh, I don't want to reward these publisher's scummy tactics, but I also know that I have the disposable income and previously was willing to put $110 into the game.

At least in the respect of my ability to connect with the game. I can't believe I listened to all of the commentary for Gone Home and actually liked it.

The sooner a game starts feeling repetitive the faster my enjoyment wanes. Isn't that one of the reasons we play games, to break the monotony of every day life?

Gone Home had so much stuff to explore that it maintained my interest in an odd way, although if it was any longer, it would have needed more gameplay. Plus, I'm the target demographic, as a 90s kid who's pretty queer.

The dialogue in Oxenfree is interesting and well-written. It's the pacing and controls that are making it harder to get into - I think I'd enjoy it more if it was all dialogue trees and got rid of the "control this slowly moving character up this winding path, oh fuck, you forgot to hit that switch on top of the tower, time to go back through the winding path at a snail's pace." Or give me a run button, we've had them since the 80s.

RNG is the essential to gambling or in this case lootboxes, what ever you get in said boxes are entirely random (for example gears with the gear packs, and the skorge packs, you might get the characters in the pack or you might get emblems or weapon skins.)
 
I’ve got 29 hours in Shadow of War. I have one more region to conquer. I’ve bought no lootboxes with money outside of what I paid for the game. The game is amazing. I loved the first one. I love this one more.

The one caveat I’ll give is not to buy stuff until you get to a higher level. The lootboxes that you buy with in game tokens get you stuff at or close to your current level. You get plenty of what you need just running around and killing captains. If you do the weekly challenges, you get some of the gold currency for better crates.

Or if you do the Iron Banner packages in Destiny 2, you might get the helmet 5 times and not one other single piece of gear. :censored:

So I've been watching a few reviews of Shadow of War. It sounds like they really did balance the game around not buying lootboxes, then let WB obnoxiously put reminders and store links everywhere. Still not a good move for the industry.

There is a small store link in the pause menu that has smaller text than the important stuff in the menu. The only reminder of the store is when you have free chests to open and even then, you'll only notice that if you're reading all quest rewards. It doesn't pop up during gameplay.

I do hope that the game is still successful despite the horrible PR that the loot boxes added. I would love to see another game in the series with even more content. This one is already so amazing and everything I could have hoped for and more from a sequel. I love Shadow of War. I'm buying a ring this week and proposing to the game next month.

Right now I'm on act 2 and I'll rate it has 9/10 due to a annoying bugs where my character got stuck in a falling animation. Probably will lower to 8/10 by the end of the game if the story starts going down hill. At this point the story is at least enjoyable (end of Act 1 was badass)

Ghost Recon Wildlands is $24 at Best Buy with GCU.  Is it worth it at that price or does anyone think it may go down next month for black friday?

 
Have South Park pre-ordered. Wish they would have given us Stick of Truth this weekend. Probably will be a week before starting Fractured But Whole.

Yeah that's pretty annoying and I have to echo that sentiment. In the beginning it's like do you have a weapon, nope, well I have a shotgun, blam! Well shit... then later on you're like ok I got this and all of a sudden nope he/she has a better weapon than you do.

So according to an individual's forum post that I came across from a web search there's an easy way to transfer all your games from one hard drive to another - Settings>System>Storage-> Transfer . However, I have looked and I see no place where "Transfer" is under the options for an external hard drive; Says View Contents,Rename,Format. Formated the new HDD, didn't see that "Transfer" option so I'm managing each game and moving them over one by one, augh. 86 items in the queue lol.

Finished QUBE and it's awesome. The puzzles are all excellent, and when you solve them, you feel like a goddamned genius. Not many games give you that sense of satisfaction when you succeed, but this is one of them. Buy it!

In the latest This Week on Xbox video, they said the mass transfer feature will be part of the new update coming this week (it was previously only available to some preview members, I assume?). If you wanna wait for the update, you won't have to manually do them one at a time.

It's weird that what I think I liked the most was just how detailed the house is, but looking through everything and seeing the majority of the detail still only left me with a two hour playtime combined with finding all but one of the voice diaries. The level of storytelling this did reminded me of prime Valve like the Left 4 Dead and Portal games. I really think they could hold up a full length game if they just added some classic Resident Evil style puzzles at a minimum.

I'm curious about running this game by my aunt. She would have been a teenager in the late 70s rather than the mid 90s, but I think most of it would still land. She didn't come out until like 10 or so years ago, and she never has talked about that kind of stuff.

I've also noticed you can't move the game over at the same time you're updating a game. Well that's stupid.

I've bought every Forza game at release with the exception of FM7. The Horizon side has definitely won my future day one purchases.

By the way...still love the shark smoking a cigarette. I'll never be able to un-see that image.
 
Probably a little late to the party but I'm spreading the word:

So, the 4 tables in the Xbox One version of Pinball FX2 that are not being transferred to FX3, have had their Xbox One versions delisted.

These tables are:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
South Park
Plants vs. Zombies
Street Fighter 2

Fortunately, the 360 versions of 3 of those tables are still available for purchase, as well as Ms. Splosion Man (who did not make the jump to FX2 on Xbone, only the Steam version).

Keeping in mind that owning the 360 versions get you the Xbox One versions for free, I would HIGHLY recommend buying the South Park, PvZ, SF2 and Ms. Splosion Man tables for 360 immediately before they are delisted,

I will warn that this game is not for everyone. If you want a Ubisoft game where you do the same 5-10 things over and over and over for 80 hours, then this is the game for you. It's a fun podcast/coop with bros game, but nowhere near as focused as even The Division or Far Cry. $24 is probably a good price though if you're interested though.

Yeah I’ve got about 16 races left to “beat” the campaign, but there are hundreds of more races behind that if I want to keep going, plus challenges.

Plus the rest of the Porsche and NASCAR campaigns.

So I can wait for $30.

I’m more of a Horizon person myself but may play around with the straight Forza games on occasion. I suck at sims. That’s why I’ll wait for it on the cheap.
 
I bought 4 single Totino's pizzas at Target since they were only $1 each, but I could only redeem codes from 3 of them.  The 4th needs to come from a 120 count pizza rolls or maybe a multi pizza pack.  Didn't see any Forza 120 count pizza roll bags, all they had were unmarked or Shadow of Mordor ones.

I assume there is no way for someone to install a game to an external HD and then give it to a friend so they could transfer it from the external HD to their own internal (or external).

I thought about this the other day for those with bandwidth caps. I assume the game install would be locked to the Live login it was installed with or something?

I’m there/have been there. I will take breathers of up to 50% off, because if you don’t you only play the stuff that moves to the “bottom” the fastest, and will never play some of the best games that only ever drop to 50%.
