Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Major Nelson just said on his radio show that after PAX East, he'll be out on vacation and offline until May to spend time with his baby girl.

Soooo, who in the blue hell is going to inform us about BC games and the May GWG? Dark times are ahead of us

I vote Bloomy for MajorNelson 2.0

LoL

They have a whole host of people for their relaunched Inside Xbox show, so probably one of them.

More to the point, Larry talks about Graeme Boyd (Acey Bongos) like he's basically his little brother, so he's probably the fill-in Larry.

I thought metal gear solid 2/3 were not backward compatible. But I guess I was wrong - the metal gear solid HD collection is in spring sale and the site says “plays on Xbox one”

I noticed that earlier and it must must be a mistake since Peace Walker HD was the one announced and currently listed as being backward compatible. Unless MGS2 and MGS3 are meant to be added to the catalog.....sooner than we think.

I’m kind of a platformer junkie between more substantial games and picked up Octahedron, which has a 20% launch discount. Very cool game. Kind of 80s, neon retro but it’s unique gameplay wise because you create your own platform by pressing the right trigger. Can be pretty challenging because you have to time it right in order to get to the places you want to. Max of two platforms between “real” platforms and only last a few seconds so if you don’t do it right, you’ll fall.

Anyway, if you like platformers, I’d recommend checking it out.

So the updated Earthlock that's supposedly better and more what they intended in the first place is up on PSN and Steam now. Any word on when our GWG version is getting replaced? One of those I really wanted to like and if it's not so horribly bland I'd actually go back and give it another shot.

Or they wanted to make sure we buy a game in the sale that is going to be a GwG so they could make it sting more.
Joke's on them, I'm not buying anything.

On major nelsons list under Xbox 360 deals, under the content type ''Arcade'', are the games under this listing BC?

Has anyone seen a site that has a list of all the sale games with prices?  SP is a pain because of how it handles Gold discounts, and Major only has percentages listed

Lucked out again today. I was hitting up the other local game stores in hopes of finding a component cable for that OG Xbox rather than ordering online and waiting for it. I only found one place that carried them for about 3 times the online price for the same shitty unshielded one, so I passed. But the last store is right across from a Goodwill, so I stopped in. As usual, looking at the games was all ancient sports trash, and one launch PS1 controller. I was about to leave but then spotted an E model 360 that was practically brand new but missing all cables for $20.

Now, I've still been sparingly using my ELEVEN year old 360 that's barely clinging to life, but not as much as I probably otherwise would. I bought the new one and took it to the store I work at to test it. everything worked perfectly. I grabbed a 320 gig HDD and a power brick adapter from a parts 360 for just $10, and so now have a good as new 360 for archival use for $30 total.

Has anyone played both the Xbox and Xbox 360 versions of Tomb Raider" Legend? I have it on the modded Xbox but at only $3 I think I might jump at the 360 version. I guess the achievements alone are worth that, but I'm wondering if there is a big improvement.

which one is the shitty one? i already had the monster component cables but i got lucky and found the official xbox one for $10 on craigslist last week. i still haggled down to $5 lol

i wanted the official one because it has the toslink audio connection, too.

Most of what I'm seeing online are just cheaply made generic ones. The issue is that they are unshielded, so could get some interference. I don't think it's that big of a deal really, but if I can order the same thing myself for much cheaper I'm not going to bother with the more expensive one the store is selling.

Really, I want the HDMI cable that's been making the rounds on Youtube, but it's sold out on Amazon and I don't know where else to find it. My TV is older so it still has component, so I'm fine with cheaping out for now.

i want that hdmi cable as well. it's been out of stock for a long time. my tv doesn't have component input, so i need to get a converter.

I can't believe Major hasn't posted the deals yet. It's like he knows the sales are so bad/disappointing, he doesn't want to waste the server space.
I was so frustrated last night cuz he always posts them night before sales it seemed, but i looked up til 1230am central & says he posted at 1244am i think. Either way, all the major games I wanted to spend my xbox credit on were on sale again. Southpark was one, but played demo & was way different than SoT gameplay wise, & the story involving super heroes was much less intersting than the fantasy setting to me (maybe because I don't care for those movies, & batman is only comic book hero game I can recall liking), so I passed. AC Origins was another big one I was looking for so I bit on it. Edith Finch was the only game thay was missing, but I'll get it later, I guess.
Was hoping for a sale on AC Origins Season Pass since I have Xbox credit to burn, but looks like the $28 Amazon price is the only deal. I usually wait for the passes to go $10 and lower but Origins content looks really good and I just got my One X to play it on. Anyone have the pass that can comment whether or not the $28 is a good price?
I was debating which version to get of Origins,& looked at the Season Pass content. Does it only have the 2 main packs & some gear? Those story packs only totaled $30 bought separately, so I figured I'd get that later if I ended up liking it that much. The gear is almost inconsequential for me, especially at that price. I hear the story packs are great, but the Gold edition was 25$ more than the standard, so I figured I'd be better served by the standard, & hoping for a sale for the story missions before I'd play them. If there was more content to come, the Gold would have been a better deal clearly, but am I right in reading that all it contains as far as story content are the 2 dlc that are already released?

I have the official advanced AV pack for Xbox. Would that help you at all, or you only want the HDMI? This has component & S-video outputs. I will never use it, so if someone pays shipping, they can have it. I'd give pics, & I have original packaging, also. No biggie if it won't help but I hate for it to sit here useless if someone else will use it.

EDIT: This is the one I have but the actual cables aren't in the package with the part that connects to the xbox. I probably them in my closet but I'd have to look if anyone shows interest. I used aftermarket cables, though, when I had it connected.
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Advanced-AV-Pack/dp/B0000C6EDK

EDIT 2: nevermind these won't help you. I thought I used these with component cables for my xbox (its been a while, lol), but I guess I only used this for the optical audio on it & then just had standard RCA aftermartket cables for the video. The 360 I guess was what I used the component video woth before I had HDMI. Sorry.

Links to the games are displaying page cannot be found error, what's up with that?
The links here are from last weeks deals, so maybe that's why? I tried a couple & they still pulled up for me, however. Which links in particular?

All of the xbox one links in the spring sale post, like this one for example

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/redirect.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Fstore%2Fp%2F1%2Fc4f7zhln6b2j&pid=13971082

and on storeparser the links to microsoft display the same error message. i tried with chrome and safari, is it just me?

It's a global problem. Xbox Store links are broken now for everybody. Even if you make a normal search on Xbox Store you won't be able to enter to the game webpage.

For those that were bitching about PSN having The Bioshock Collection for $12. Looks like it may have been a price mistake. It’s actually back up to $60.

For another 20 minutes, code PREPSPRING gets 15% off on ebay.

AntOnline has Far Cry 5 standard for $47, which is $40 after the coupon.

https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/366964-far-cry-5-w-ds4-or-xb1-controller-6799-ac-via-newegg-on-ebay/

I'm also seeing some Gold editions on ebay which might be worth it if you couldn't find one. I figure for $40 for the base game, even if I wanted the pass later, it'd come out to a similar price.

And before Bloomy waves his cartoon finger at me, I got a job lined up for after graduation :D/

Your posts regarding the original Xbox have inspired me to play mine again.

I'm using the wireless Pelican Street Xbox controller that I bought over a decade ago; it kind-of, sort-of reminds me of the 360 controller. As IGN states of the Pelican Street in its July 2005 review, "The Xbox 360 controller is near perfect and this is basically as close as you'll get before the next-gen hits."

If you find a controller that is better - and still selling somewhere - please let me know. As I said earlier, the Pelican is still not nearly as nice as the Xbox 360 controller.

Any thoughts on Golf Club 2? I have Rory McIlroy PGA and it just isn’t as good as the old Tiger Woods games and the course selection isn’t good. I love golf and need a good game for when I can’t get on course.

Also, finally finished the TA Birthday challenge. Used 8 Bit Adventure Anthology for 5 letters, only new game I started.

So in looking for what to get to finish the Go West Xbox Live Rewards quest, I ended up putting together a list of stuff on sale this sale. Figured I'd share it in case anyone else was looking for stuff to complete it with. I think I've spent 5$ already thanks to No Country for Old Men but who knows thanks to the stupid wagon progress bar. I'll probably end up buying the Witcher 3 for the third time and the base version of The Phantom Pain for the second time. ( Or nothing, since I'd just be spending money to get half of it back which seems silly as I type it out.) Unless anyone want's to go to bat for the Minecraft story mode stuff or Fe.

Anyway here's the list. The rewards site isn't clear on platform so the games in RED are best guess since I don't think they have Xbox one stand alone versions.

Xbox One

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag

Assassin's Creed Triple Pack: Black Flag, Unity, Syndicate, Assassin's Creed IV

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Fe

Mad Max

Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

ReCore

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration

Minecraft: Story Mode - The Complete Adventure (Episodes 1-8)

Minecraft: Story Mode - The Complete Season (Episodes 1-5)

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Xbox 360

BioShock Infinite

Borderlands

Borderlands 2

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Red Dead Redemption

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

I just picked up a gold version from target for $30 - of course it's physical. Regular version is on sale for $30 this week and they merged the dcpi for regular and gold versions, so they ring up the same price. Caveat is it must be done in store.

Skip "The Golf Club 2". It's not a good game and they're releasing a new one later this year "The Golf Club 2019" to try and correct the wrongs of TGC2.

If only we could get a remastered/bc version of Tiger Woods 14... or EA actually decided to make a non-half assed golf game this gen... it would be perfect. It's a shame there's no quality golf titles available for the xbone, you have to dust off your old consoles to play anything decent. It sucks when the Master's rolls around and your in the mood for a good golf game and nothing exists on a modern console.

i want return to arkham or arkham knight, which do you guys think is the better of the two?
If you haven't played Arkham Asylum and/or Arkham City, there's really no reason to not get Return to Arkham first. Play them in order. Arkham Knight is the series' finale.
