Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Yeah that Samsung TV doesn't have the best of HDR. I own it. With the way prices have been dropping lately I would wait and see what TV you can get with "true" HDR for a bit more in price.

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Sonic-Generations-Casino-Night-Pinball/abb017ad-9b9b-481e-ba34-af4548f291aa?purchase=1&purchaseid=abb017ad-9b9b-481e-ba34-af4548f291aa

Apparently there was free Sonic Generations DLC released this month when the game went BC (or was free forever. I dunno) but just throwing this out there.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tcl-43-class-42-5-diag--led-2160p-smart-4k-ultra-hd-tv-with-high-dynamic-range-roku-tv/6202780.p?skuId=6202780

This probably doesn't have the best of HDR either but gonna pick this one up once it drops a bit more either $300 or $250.

Ugh, finished Far Cry 5 last night and was about to start GR Wildlands but my controller has a deadzone issue now. The right stick will literally move up whenever it feels like, which becomes a pain in the ass. I barely got through the end of Far Cry because of it. I don't know if there is any easy fixes, because I would like to not have to buy a new controller.

360 had a ton of system sellers. Halo 3, Gears 2, Mass Effect (at the time). Lots of exclusives people bought 360s to play.
I agree, a 'system seller' can mean different things to different people depending on their circumstances. I was a die-hard PC gamer until I finally picked up a 360 for Kinect Sports and Dance Central for social gaming. Rock Band soon followed (not exclusive) and then I stumbled onto Mass Effect and basically stopped PC gaming altogether a year or two later. The ease of use, and living room play, are what sold me.

As for the platform wars, I just don't get it. I initially bought a PS4 this gen due to Microsoft's E3 hubris, but later picked up a One as I missed the controller, the UI, and achievements. Actually traded in the PS4 in a few months ago as I never turned it on. I also have an i7/GTX1070/32GB which would blow the pants off both consoles graphically, but I rarely use it for gaming.

None of the various options is pricey enough that I could imagine getting into flame wars over it. I am a little annoyed at Sony for blocking cross-platform play though. It would be fun to play Minecraft with my little nephew, but not sure it's worth buying a PS4 just because Sony is being a stick in the mud.

Did they reveal what the conversion rate was going to be for the xbox live reward stuff? I got 264 gems and I highly doubt they’ll get more five dollar certificates back in stock.

I burned mine on Warframe Platinum last night, logged in today to find another 200 gems for something I did. Got another 75 plat.

The FAQ said it was 1:1 gems for points, which is laughable since you can get 250 points in 3 minutes of clicking through the news while 250 gems would have got a $5 card.

If it’s cheap enough I may have to find A Way to get one of you guys to do online coop with me (and my pain in the ass schedule).

Anyone play Robocraft Infinity? Played for the first time tonight and it’s actually pretty fun. Haven’t had a chance to put together a decent robot but seems worthy of playing — among the other million games in my backlog.

Decided to pull the trigger on The Surge tonight. I was surprised to see it is only 6.47 GB even though it is X1X enhanced with HDR.  I guess the HDR does not add much to the file size. Either way, it still seems like a small file.

I've been playing Robocraft Infinity. I like it but the servers have seemed a little unstable. The first day in 5v5 the smooth lady robovoice kept saying "player disconnected" every minute during a 15 minute match. I got knocked out several times when the server dropped me.

Of course it has a lockout feature to prevent people from being quitters. But then it drops you and calls you a quitter and locks you out from entering another match for x minutes. I've read about weak AI that's passed the Turing Test by imitating psychosis, but this was rediculous.

Seems more stable now, hopefully the bugs will get worked out. You do need to keep playing to build up your inventory and robits (in game currency to unlock parts, buy other players robot designs, etc.). You get rewarded with loot boxes for leveling up or signing in daily, or of course you can buy the lot boxes with real money.

Deck13 are wizards. There’s other 4k enhancements too I believe, but I stick with 60fps.

The only 2018 TCL model currently at Best Buy now shows sold out. Mine should be ready for store pickup on Wednesday. Hopefully the stock for the 6 series is better when it releases in a week or so.

This trailer reveals some story plot, so if you want to go into the movie blind don't watch:

But it's totally worth a watch!

Crap, played so much Far Cry 5 during the weekend that now I can't get Amazing Grace out of my head after....well....a story-related portion of the game

On a (non-story) related note, I can't tell you how many times I have hijacked a cultist truck only to stop and sit through "Help Me Faith" or "Oh the Bliss." I have the soundtrack downloaded so I can listen to the songs at work. It's like a sinister Hillsong United.

I haven't heard cult music this good since "Kathy Don't Go":

Finished the story in Injustice 2 this weekend.  Man, there is so much to do in that game.  I chose the Batman ending, now I have to go back and choose the Superman ending, as well as all the other "Choose a character" chapters and switch my choice.  I am loving this game, even more since switching the controls to a more Capcom quarter-circle style.

Are you talking about the various trailers for DeadPool 2? If so, I've gobbled all of those up because they have been good about not showing much about the movie. I've loved all of them immensely.
Yeah they are hilarious!
Trying to pull a classic Superman by changing in the booth, and dressing up a Bob Ross lol.
Oh and the action figure Deadpool trailer played by.....well Deadpool

Do you use a regular Xbox controller when you play? Those quarter-circle movements aren't always picked up well on my dpad. I'm wondering if it's my controller or I'm just fat-fingering the wrong directions.

I do, yeah. I use the thumbstick, since it's as close to a joystick as I'm going to get right now. The quarter-circles seem to register fine, it's the half-circles that are the hardest to pull off for me. I was trying to do Swamp Thing's tutorial yesterday, but couldn't get his combo with the cancel into half-circle special to work because I couldn't get the half-circle fast enough. I'm still trying to break my brain from waiting for the hit before going on to the next one. The fact that you just input the whole combo string even before everything hits is new to me.

Don't remember who mentioned Late Shift was worth checking out on game pass but gave that a go this afternoon and it's been pretty enjoyable so far. Not a game really but enjoyable fiction with some choose your own adventure. I wonder how much it actually changes based on the few choices you have though or if it's just details and the overall narrative remains fairly linear.

I went back and did the other choices, there is some scenes that are only on 1 decision path but overall pretty similar

So now that direct deposit is a thing with Microsoft Rewards, does anyone know if credit can be used to gift game/DLC to other accounts? Or do they require the purchase be made by CC?

I noticed there was a new update for Xbox One. Of course as I was doing the update the power went out. You know how it says not to turn it off or unplug it while doing the update. I thought I bricked my Xbox for a second. Luckily it did the update just fine when the power came back. No issues that I'm aware of.

I thought that maybe we'd get the new avatar update. I didn't notice anything different. I heard it was supposed to be happening in April.

They have some free Westworld avatar items.

Looks like you can use credit for gifts. I just looked back to a gift I sent (to an email address but for myself during the EA Access free month promo) and I used account balance to pay for it.
