Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I was thinking about giving State of Decay a try because I wanted to see if I would like the series. Decided after 5 minutes to just buy State of Decay 2 when it launches because it's $30.

I mean the game is probably fine gameplay wise, but I noticed a little bit too much graphical skipping for my liking.
It doesn't run well at all for a remaster. It might be one of the worst I've seen that isn't for a bad game like Legend of Kay Anniversary.

Or, you could just do GamePass and finish it within a month....

Should be able to get a month for $5 or less
I would but this is a game some of my friends will buy it at launch and some will probably buy later on sale so by that point I would be $15-20 in already because I would play with both sets. So I am just going to buy it for $30.

Do you know if the PC version is any better? It's kinda rough for a remaster.

First I thought of when you mentioned Diakatana

How'd that work out :)
Obviously we all became bitches and to this day we talk about that game I can't spell or pronounce and too lazy to copy and paste! The end!

Anyone know of any deals or is there a thread with deals for GOLD subscriptions?
https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/248120-official-xbox-marketplace-trade-thread-read-the-op-one-post-every-three-days/

can buy gold there from other members

if you are a bing rewards participant maybe there will be a point discount on gold in the coming days as we usually see hot deals changing around this time of the month but we never know, it usually switches between credit, gold, and gamepass

They're posted on the videogamedeals twitter sometimes and in various places in the forums. I usually go with Cdkeys or the xbox trading thread. It's not a great deal right now on cdkeys, but last week I got a year for about $45.There's someone selling them for around $40 on the trading thread but looks like they may have scammed someone, so if they respond I'd have them send the code first.

The Saboteur
My brother really liked The Saboteur and my friend asks me every couple of months if I've played it yet. I am finally giving in and just playing it on the 360 once I finish the DLC for Assassin's Creed Origins. It's one of maybe ten 360 games I own physically and I want to get rid of them all, been slowly buying digitally on sale or beating them.

The first one runs like crap, even the Xbox One version is terrible performance wise. That was my main gripe with it. Otherwise it's an excellent game.

Still have to claim your prize and judging from the landing page with current and past rewards, that looks to be a permanent thing. Linky:

https://gearsofwar.com/en-us/my-rewards
They said in one of the dev streams that they had trouble getting the challenge rewards implemented like Forza before release, which sounds like they just didn't plan for it. But at least now we can see our progress. Hopefully they work out how to auto reward in Gears 5, after spending a lot of time coming up with new loot box strategies to counter the loss of revenue from Game Pass cutting into sales numbers.

Their web trackers also don't stop counting once you reach the required number. My Griffin tracker is at 1151/750.

The Hot Deal on Game Pass runs until the 15th. While not outside the realm of possibility, there probably won't be a new one until then. They do seem to change the charities for double donations with a new month.

I saw a lot of gnashing of teeth the other day about Red Dead Redemption 2 trailers not showing actual gameplay. I thought for sure that scene in the "town" could be gameplay and it looks like it is. Wonder if it will have a "No HUD" mode for a more cinematic feel, I think God of War 4 has that option? For what's it worth IGN got to play a 45 minute demo this week and have claimed over half of what you see in the trailers is actual gameplay. Doesn't seem too far fetched to me.

http://www.ign.com/videos/2018/05/03/theres-actual-gameplay-in-those-red-dead-redemption-2-trailers

Apparently all the edgy ads were Ion Storm's doing, and Romero really hated it. The recent Retronauts episode on Doom talked about it some, it was really interesting.

I Mean it worked in the advertising sense that I'm aware who John Romero is. Enough to the point where I confuse him with George Romero sometimes. I Think maybe the game would've worked better if it was called John Romero because I know nothing about...Dati uh...Datikana? Datekana? Like I said, nothing, but if it was called John Romero I would know in an instant.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm guessing that it is better since you can just throw better GPUs and such at it to get over those issues. Just realized that I had it on Steam, so maybe I'll check it out at some point.

It's easy for him to blame a now-defunct company for an edgy ad, but at the time, I bet he was like, "Yeah, these guys are all going to eat my ass", especially if he thought the game was going to be good at any point.

Good week for BC. Just 7 titles left on my wishlist:

GTA V, R* TTennis, Devil May Cry 4, BC: Rearmed, Afro Samurai, PGR4, and Batman: AC

I know about half of these are unlikely for various reasons (remakes available or shuttered developers, etc) but a guy can hope, right?

I deleted a bunch of my games that will probably never get to, to clear up space for bunch of newer games that I do not want to get to (anytime soon). I have 6 TB available between my internal & external, in case any of you are wondering.

I should have enough to load DA2 now. :)

So are you supposed to be able to download DAII if you have the disk? I cannot get my X1X to do anything when I put the disk in. It is also randomly going into sleep mode again. I hope this console is not a lemon.

Edit: Nevemind. It finally started.

Any thoughts on Celeste?  I'm debating about picking it up for Xbox but being able to play it as a handheld game on the Switch is tempting.  Any thoughts?

I'm down to 32 games which I want to be backwards compatible which aren't and also don't have an Xbox One version. (there's a few exceptions but most of them will never come being realistic)
Akai Katana, Alpha Protocol, Anarchy Reigns, Battle Fantasia, Bionic Commando, Culdcept Saga, Dead or Alive 4, Deathsmiles, Eternal Sonata, Final Fantasy 13, Final Fantasy 13-2, Magna Carta 2, Max Payne 3, Operation Darkness, Raiden Fighters Aces, The Saboteur, Soul Calibur 4, Soul Calibur 5, Spectral Force 3, Tales of Vespiria, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Enslaved Odyssey to the West, Syndicate, The Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena, Prince of Persia (2008), Lightning Returns, El Shaddai, Zone of the Enders HD COllection, Resonance of Fate, Beautiful Katamari, Lollipop Chainsaw, Nier

I'd say about half of those have some chance to come (with probably 5 I fully expect to come at some point) while the others likely never will be considered a big enough deal to be worth the time. You never know though.
I’m a big fan of Culdcept, but Culdcept Saga was too damned slow. If you have a DS, I recommend the new Culdcept for that system - plays just like the PS2 original.

Excellent game. One of the best platformers I’ve played. Very challenging but they give options for assists to make it as easy as you want it to be (advise on keeping them all or mostly off if you can).

I know EA just gave away one of the expansions but I am wondering if buying Revolution for $15 is still a good deal. I already have the base game but really have not played it much. Will MP be a better experience if I have all the DLC?

6TB available?! That's crazy. I got overwhelmed with the 2.5TB I had to work with. Seeing all the games is overwhelming. I deleted a bunch so I have more in my ready to install than installed. More likely to pick something I haven't played than falling back on a multiplayer game.

I have had all the DLC since it came out, so I can't say for sure what the difference in experiences is but they're very good about they're matchmaking. They have options for each map pack individually, all maps available, or base game maps. I think my friend and I have played the base game playlist with no problem finding matches. If you haven't played it much I'd hold off until you've played it more; the battlefield games go on sale frequently enough.

I've heard people feel the numbers are low on the DLC matchmaking side, but who knows how low is worth griping over. Keep in mind that teh DLC for BF4 and Hardline went free one at a time for limited times starting in the spring years past so if you can wait there's the possibility that they may all eventually go free.

50 new challenges were released for Forza Horizon 3 today. Unlike in the past, where you complete 3-4 during the period of a week, all 50 (!) are to be completed by May 11th. Interesting approach. Time to get some free cars.
i only see the standard 4 in game. so if I complete 1 will another replace it? or is the set of 50 dead?

Edit: Nevermind I see them on the achievement list.

Edit 2: I knocked out 14 #Forzathon's.

The in-game Forzathon page only shows those 4. To see the 50, hit the Guide button while in-game, go over to Achievements, and scroll all the way to the bottom of the FH3 list to see the challenges (unless you already progressed some of them, then those would be higher up on the list).

Been looking at the IGN coverage for RDR2 and I'm so hyped.  Interestingly enough IGN points out a decent amount of in game footage from the trailers.  We all knew some characters from RDR1 would be in it, but I'm holding out hope that there's an appearance or two from Red Dead Revolver.  If I recall correctly it's set in the 1880s so it could totally work to throw a cameo in at least.

Red dead revolver is dead mate. No one even knows there was a red dead game before redemption came along. Sad but it's true. Just like smugglers run is long and forgotten.

Probably, but several revolver characters were dlc in redemption so I'll hold out hope.

I feel like I must get a xbox one x and 4k TV by the time this comes out. Just about to purchase the new tcl 6 series I think.

A new smugglers run would be awesome too.

I know they have been releasing old Neo GEO games on the live marketplace but look at this[attachment=30139:IMG_20180504_064620.jpg][attachment=30140:IMG_20180504_064633.jpg][attachment=30141:IMG_20180504_064628.jpg][attachment=30142:IMG_20180504_064639.jpg]

Red dead revolver is dead mate. No one even knows there was a red dead game before redemption came along. Sad but it's true. Just like smugglers run is long and forgotten.
I remember. Apparently the Xbox version is playable on 360 bc but is glitchy and super wonky. So I have it on my ps4.

Yeah, a friend lent me his OG Xbox copy many years ago and It ran really bad on 360, textures would pop all over the place, was pretty much unplayable. With how they've gotten things running on the X1 though, it could be a really nice addition to the OG xbox BC titles. That, Vice City, and letting me play my real copy of San Andreas and not that shitty mobile version, are the only tings I'd really want from Rockstar from the OG.

Any thoughts on Celeste? I'm debating about picking it up for Xbox but being able to play it as a handheld game on the Switch is tempting. Any thoughts?
In my opinion most indies are best played on switch, and this is no exception. I have it for switch, and it is great. Either way you'll be happy though.

Finally saw Infinity War. Holy shit.

It ends on such a downer, I feel bad for the casual watchers who don't realize there's a part 2 and everything will more or less be put back to normal. It's not often that a big film like this depends so much on having seen past films.

On another note, I'm almost done with school forever, and after hearing everyone discuss the TCL panels, I think I need one. The $300 43" 4k model with HDR is plenty affordable (I honestly thought it would be minimum $500 to get anything decent), and I saw one on display yesterday. I had no idea just how nice HDR could look, and I'm pretty sold, even if I don't feel like dropping the cash on an X1X right now.

I Don't know what that is, but I think I want it... when it's $50 because I am running out of goddamn HDMI slots.

Oh, but the shocked silence of people in the theater once the credits start is so damn fantastic when they first watch it.

@gamegirlpocket

We missed a bunch of the other movies, but I think that even without seeing them I sort of knew that they would have a sequel and everything would be resolved. Not like they are going to be killing off many of their major characters. Made me think of the new TMNT cartoon series, when the Earth was destroyed at the end of the season. My son was upset about that, but I knew they would do something w/ time travel and it would be resolved in the next season. Btw, it looks like Captain Marvel will be possibly in the next one to help. Nick Fury's device he dropped had the Captain Marvel logo on it in the after credits scene.

Consider paying $50 more for the new 43” 43S515 at Best Buy. It just came out and has HDR as well as Dolby Vision. We have it and no complaints except the remote control isn’t the greatest.

Listen to this man. Having a set with Dolby Vision is well worth the extra $50 and will be more future proof than last year’s model.

Of course, if you can afford $650 for the new 6 series (or give me $600 for last year’s P series so I can get a 6 series 😁) ....

My 6 series delivers today.....now how long can I hold out on getting an Xbox One X?

It's already been confirmed that a Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel movie is coming out next year before the IW follow-up, set in the 1990s, to establish the character. She's definitely coming in to save the day.

After Superman's death and return in the 90s, there are no surprises anymore. Steve Rogers was also killed, they brought him back. Kinda takes some of the fun out of it, but IW is so much fun to watch and well-cast that I don't care.

Hmm. I will probably do this. Once I'm completely done with the semester I'll try to find display models. Something bigger/fancier is probably not in the cards due to living space and student debt. My girlfriend and I don't live together yet but we've already discussed it for a year from now as a real possibility, so the giant monster display would have to wait until then.

Or maybe I'll go really crazy and buy a 43" for my bedroom and a huge one for the living room.

While certainly most of the deaths from IW will be walked back (at least the ones from the finger snap) due to some sort of time travel (probably), I would expect a few of the Avengers to be gone gone by the time the second movie is over.

I saw the movie at an absurd angle Saturday night (second row, far right) so I'm going for another viewing in a better position tomorrow.

Side note: Movie Pass sure isn't doing themselves any favors right now...
