Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Can anyone tell me if they have played Xenon Valkryie and if it's like Spelunky? The reviews that I've read about the game online seemed split, and I'd like to know before spending my Bing-derived credit on it.

Maybe I missed it but not sure if someone posted that Microsoft is making a new Halo arcade game (you know, the kind you stick quarters in ). The dev of the old Robotron arcade game is involved.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-05-19-theres-a-new-halo-arcade-game-and-eugene-jarvis-is-involed
I thought it was mentioned during the Xbox Live mixer show talk. I love Robotron but not quite sure how that will translate to what looks to be one of those "on rail's" shooters.

I have some old favs trapped on my OG Xbox, along with all the mod stuff. Really excited to not have to mess with component cables, since the TV I plan to buy only has HDMI.
And to piggyback on your post, I'm going to post this handy Reddit link about the necessity of removing the clock capacitor from earlier models of the original Xbox since a leaky clock capacitor could possibly ruin an original Xbox:

https://www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/wiki/clock_capacitor

I opened my launch model, removed the clock capacitor, cleaned the motherboard, dusted the internals, and put it back together in less than an hour. But the clock capacitor doesn't need to be removed from a 1.6 model (the last revision of the hardware). Good luck!

Did they stop the gems for certain missions on Xbox Rewards? I know I have had my Gold membership active for more than 6 months but I haven't gotten the 200 gems for it.

Tried onrush for a couple rounds. Maybe it was the map or game mode but I didn't have tons of fun. I'm glad the respawns timer was only a couple seconds because I don't know if I was alive for more than a minute at a time. It looked and sounded cool though.

I have a local chain that will buy movies, games, CDs and books. Traded in a ton of stuff for $250 credit. Tempted to pick up an xbox one x. I still have a bunch of more stuff to trade in too.

Thanks to whomever mentioned the Onrush beta. It's fun!

Not sure if it's $60 fun, but that's the life. I'm assuming more maps and modes in the full game, but it's a sold arcade racer/battler.

Does anyone think the deluxe edition of life is strange is worth it? Or just get the regular edition?
If you want all of the episodes for Before the Storm, assuming that's what you're referring to, get the Deluxe Edition since it has the bonus episode centered around Max and Chloe.

Since I’m no techie I’m just going to assume this has to be done because time travel is dangerous and we don’t want to mess up the space/time continuum.

Or because you don't want the acid from the clock capacitor to leak onto the motherboard which might start a fire that burns down your house all because you wanted to enjoy a game of Kung Fu Chaos. But, hey, whatever floats your boat! ;)

Played it a few weeks ago and calling it a sci-fi Spelunky feels accurate to me. Biggest complaints for me were that the health restore system was weak and you felt restricted in your ability to fight bosses iirc. Otherwise, game felt solid and controls we're tight.

As for the reviews being mixed, I'd check the date they were posted. I didn't play the game in it's earlier incarnations (got a code a month or two back), but impressions I've seen is the developer has listened to feedback and made improvements where necessary.

Every XBox update I always think to myself before downloading "Maybe this will be the day I can sort things alphabetically and it won't count the "The" in the beginning of the title." I Then proceed to the games and see The Banner Saga still counted as T away from Banner Saga 2 and just sigh.

Drives me positive insane. Almost as bad as Spotify sorting artists alphabetically by first name.

It's almost as if Microsoft doesn't know how insanely uptight nerds get over these dumb details...that or they're just total assholes and like fucking with us. I Think Microsoft would get the saddest loud cheer ever at E3 if they were to say during their press conference "And finally, the most requested thing from XBox fans is finally happening. Sorting alphabetically will no longer count "The" and..." and the audience would erupt and cheer and grown adults in wheel chairs in the front would stand up and dance.

And I'll be honest, I barely know any of what the past ten or so updates have done and I doubt I've used any of the features. Just give me goddamn correct alphabetical sorting.

I just bought a Halo Edition Xbox, I wanted to play Wrestlemania 21 since it's been sitting in the closet since 2007.

It was cheaper than buying a new Duke controller (and easier to find)

I wonder exactly how the sorting works on the Xbox One dashboard? Not that this is a big sports playing board, but for example a lot of the EA Sports games are all over the place, sometimes falling under the E's for EA Sports or sometimes it's under the first letter of the title like F for Fifa for example. To make things even stranger this isn't consistent across all the consoles I have in my house. Some of those exact tiles are in different places. Was looking for NHL 17 once, going from the basement console to a living room one and of course on one Xbox it was under E and the other under N. I had opted out of any preview ring but could of been a case of different console updates I suppose.

I ran into similar issues when they started stuff like Xbox Game Quests, People would walk me through exactly where I should be able to find the "tile" on my dashboard and it just wasn't there, similar to the person posting the other day about having the "Leaving 5/31" tile in Game Pass the other day and I and someone else did not seem to have that.

Speaking of other weird quirks about the dashboard, had to show my brother how to easily jump around in his my games list and ready to install today. I was watching him scroll through a giant thing to get to the "S" letter titles. People know that if you just hit the Y button in that screen you can jump to any letter you want right?

Make sure you bet early when Seattle becomes the next expansion team. They’re getting the same expansion draft rules Vegas did.

It will be interesting to see if they do as well.
I don't think they could in spirit change the rules on Seattle before their expansion draft or maybe even contractually. This draft more than ever I remember hearing about teams having to give Vegas sweetheart deals so they wouldn't take young guys that they ran out of protection slots for. That said I take nothing away from them, I'd say 80% of the NHL Playoffs is having a hot goalie and they clearly do.

As a Caps fan, I’m not surprised Vegas had a good year because I watched as George McPhee built the caps up through the draft over the last 20 years. Getting guys like Kuznetzov and Carlson late in the first round showed he had good accounting instincts. It was on trades and free agency he tended botch (Forsberg for Erat, the length of Orpik’s deal, etc).

I am surprised Vegas is Stanley Cup Finals good though. I expected them to finish second or third in the Pacific and win one series at best.

Now I need all of Tampa to come down Ebola or anthrax or something so the Caps can win two games.

sorting on xbox is indeed awful, for instance the Lego movie is under T for the so not with all the other lego games. Also Black ops 2, is COD, so its under CO and not CA like 1 and 3

The BC version of CoD4 is just listed under the title Modern Warfare. Confuses me every time.

The real kicker is that I believe it's possible for them to alter display names in the game Library. On 360 for example, Star Wars the Force Unleashed is listed in T under The Force Unleashed, but the sequel is listed under Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. This is fixed on the X1 so I don't see why definite articles are a problem.

I would really like to predict a great sale for tonight but....

Maybe another weak week of sales for me personally won't be so bad. This seems like a week I might have to actually buy things the moment they release like Castlevania , I mean Bloodstained, and Dark Souls Remastered plus State of Decay 2 coming to game pass. I got worried the Mega Man X collection was coming out this week also but see it's just Legacy collection for the Switch.

I Thought on 360 it was SW: TFU2 or something on the 360 for the sequel. Which was also one of those things I think Microsoft did just to be assholes and drive us insane.

In regards to the sorting, though I don't mind how inconsistent it is, I do find it curious. My favorite are the games with the "Tom Clancy" label on the title. For instance; Ghost Recon Future Soldier is listed under "G" while Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Division, and R6 Siege are all under "T". But then we have R6 Vegas 2 under "R" and Splinter Cell Conviction under "S".

Also, after spending 3 or three and a half weeks playing the Bioshock trilogy (only played Infinite on 360), decided to finally boot TTG Batman: The Enemy Within. The first two episodes where pretty cool and love the - momentarily - Harley and Joker role reversal.

If this New Vegas remake is a thing, I would love to play it. I went back to my saved game from last year over the weekend, and now I'm addicted to that game all over again like a fiend on Jet.

What's up with the stars in your profile? I only have one :3

Are they some measure of progress or something I have no idea :(

I don't know either, but I've been following this motley crew of cheapasses since 2002 or somewhere around that time, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Edit: I think the 5 stars is for trading.

Has anyone picked up State of Decay 2 Ultimate Edition? I'm wondering if there is just one code in the box for the season pass or whatever plus the copy of the first game, or if the first game has it's own unique code I could potentially sell (I already own it)

Looks like best buy has a 10% off glitch. Works on XBL credit and gaming merch. May work on general electronics too. Get your 4k TV's now.

This was so laughably unbelievable and it almost ruined the entire season for me.
Well, I haven't played episodes 3, 4 and 5 yet. So unless there's a swerve coming (which I'm sure it is), I don't mind for now.

If anything, I'll give TTG credit for portraying Harley as the a straight up villain instead of the villain-turned-hero she's become in recent years because her relationship with Joker was a way of "glorifying and romanticizing psychological abuse" (even if it was that, in a way) in the eyes of some people.

Again, I'll reserve judgment until I'm done with the season.
