Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Double Agent on the Original Xbox was basically Chaos Theory 2

Double Agent on the 360 was handled by a different team and was basically an entirely different game

Pretty sure people like(d) Movie Pass for the lack of restrictions.

MoviePass announced today that its standard one movie per day plan will increase from the current $10 per month to $15 per month. That change will go into effect "within the next 30 days" according to MoviePass. Additionally, tickets to first run movies opening on at least 1,000 screens will be limited for the first two weeks.

MoviePass also confirmed that it would limit ticket availability to blockbuster films going forward, which it began doing over the weekend with Mission: Impossible - Fallout. "This is a strategic move by the company to both limit cash burn and stay loyal to its mission to empower the smaller artistic film communities," said the company in a press release. However, film studios will be able to partner with MoviePass to promote their first run films, and additional tickets to widely released first run movies can be made available to MoviePass customers through promotion.

"These changes are meant to protect the longevity of our company and prevent abuse of the service. While no one likes change, these are essential steps to continue providing the most attractive subscription service in the industry," CEO Mitch Lowe said in a statement. "Our community has shown an immense amount of enthusiasm over the past year, and we trust that they will continue to share our vision to reinvigorate the movie industry."

The company said that the measures it started putting into place last week -- like blacking out major releases -- will reduce cash burn by 60 percent.

I don't think I've gone to a movie this year in the theater. I would be fine with them shutting down and letting me screen movies day one digitally at home.

I certainly hope Microsoft isn't silently backing out of their precedent to add new games every month to Game Pass, but that's definitely what it looks like. Bad move, I hope this doesn't slip by the game journalists unnoticed.

I had a notification about “cloud saves” being messed up last night. For a 360 game. I was still about to save and load just not from cloud. Not sure if maybe connected

It is the 31st and I've also never seen it set in stone that new games are added on the 1st of the month, not sure where that started to become the belief. in fact the last couple months games are just showing up whenever, Vermentide II and Rocket League both showed up on July 10th.

Achievements are jacked up at least on Xbox One

Pretty simple Gold quests for the next 2 weeks, login to your console every day between today and the 6th and earn 400 GS between 7th and 13th.

Game Pass ones aren't too bad.  Play 60 consecutive minutes of a Game Pass game by the 6th and earn what appears to be an early story achievement in the Division.  Odd that they name a secret achievement.  I wonder if the quests counts for those that already have it unlocked.

New games are added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog on the 1st of every month.

They better since I already have it! P.S. That link gives me a 500 error.
5xx errors are problems on the server. The same link to the Game Pass quests is also at the bottom of the Gold quest page. Those pages seem to log you out fairly quickly relative to other pages, though it might be like XBL Rewards where the xboxliveoffers domain is handled by an outside company.

and yeah read it and couldn't find that quote you made. Scrolled down to description at the bottom and clicked read more, did a search for "month" and came up with monthly a couple times. Maybe I have a different page or the wording changed but no "New games are added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog on the 1st of every month"
It's in the FAQ under "How often are new games added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog?"

Amazon has a preorder for a Destiny II collection with the new Foresaken DLC for $60. Foresaken is $40 alone, so the past $20 price for base game and both prior expansions is right in line with that pricing. I had a feeling they had a new sku on the way with the vanilla fire sale, nice to see the price is consistent with the piecemeal sale.

I can finally get back to Tales from the Borderlands and finish the 3rd episode.

cool that gamepass is discounting the annual option, now that it seems we are having a month where games leave and nothing is added, I would be hesitant to re up for a year at a time

Anyone follow prices on external SSD drives?  Any thoughts on 512 GB for $128 / 1 TB for $269?  The 1 TB shouldn't be more than 2x the price of the 512, but Amazon has another 512 WD for $140 that is a little more in line with an expected price scale.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C5BG857

Both seem to be low prices.

512 - https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07C5BG857

1 TB - https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07C58KFX1

Recently filled up my 4 TB external and had to do some cleanup.  Would like to shift some frequently played stuff to a faster drive.

Well I always thought it said the first, but when I went to the xbox gamepass page It's saying every month. Maybe they are going to wait a few more days? Either way I can't recall the last time we got a announcement on the first or later outside of one or two games being added in the middle of the month, or like recently when Rocket League was announced on inside xbox.

Major Nelson posted about this year's Summer Spotlight.  Includes MS Rewards points for purchases, though no mention yet on the rewards site.  Earn 4k points, no criteria mentioned, and 100 points per dollar spent.  Also a giveaway.

https://majornelson.com/2018/07/31/summer-spotlight-giveaway-six-weeks-of-new-xbox-games/

Of the current featured games, Candle: The Power of the Flame, Forsaken Remastered, Castaway Paradise (expires tomorrow morning) and One More Dungeon currently have discounts.  Would've been nice if this was going when the Mega Man X collection had a pre-release discount.

Grabbed Blacklist and since as mentioned before 10 dollar games are 4 for 20 so ended up with Rogue stormers, FF Type 0, and Persona arena. With Elite pro they come to 4 dollars each, great deal as I'm bulking up my 360 collection.

No, they have different achievements, and different mechanics. There was a lot of ire caused by the fact that they were different games and SFIV couldn't be upgraded. Now SSFIV could be upgraded to SSFIV Arcade Edition and later Ultra Edition, but vanilla SFIV was left as a different game. It has some sweet intos, and music that also are unique.
so if i am buying arcade edition, what makes it ultra? or is that not possible on the xbox one? because i'm seeing add ons and they are saying ''for ultra'' and stating ultra has 44 characters...is that how many will come with ssiv arcade or what do i buy to get the rest of the characters, if thats possible?

Totally forgot that Forsaken Remastered came out today. May have to think about that one.

War Games looks just FMV weird enough to take a $5 flyer on

digitally ultra is only available as an add on, you want to buy Super/arcade edition and then buy the ultra DLC, or buy the retail version of Ultra

Beat Hellblade, really liked it. It's a great looking game and I wouldn't pick the soundtrack up on vinyl in a heartbeat if they pressed it.

Decided to try out mirrors edge catalyst. Been wanting to check it out and think I'm going to let my subscription to ea access expire when it's up in a couple months.

It's not going to make or break the game for me, but does the "combat" change up much?
