Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I've finally crunched some numbers. If I can manage to get close to $150 out of a Colecovision, (boxed) Atari 7800, and (boxed) Odyssey 2 I think I'll be able to upgrade to a One X. I'm scrounging around my collection and hoping to find a bit more old stuff that I either have extras of or no attachment to. I think I have an extra N64 too.
Probably will try to list some stuff locally for a day or two but otherwise take to my store. I just don't want the GS prices of stuff to drop, and I don't really want to trade in some of this stuff unless I know I'm getting the X.

If I didn't have so many PS4 games backlogged I'd trade that to make it easy, but I'd feel bad with like 15 discs unplayed.
That is a pretty awesome collection of classic consoles to part with. Are you sure its worth upgrading to the X when the next generation is only 2 years away? Thats been the thing holding me back, spedning 500 plus tax just to have the system be obsolete so quickly.

I pre-ordered BLOPS4 yesterday digitally and still haven't received my beta code. How do they usually send them? Through e-mail or an Xbox Live message?

I'm still kind of on-the-fence about keeping my pre-order, I was hoping the beta would help me decide. And hopefully they don't block the ability to cancel my pre-order once I get the beta code and redeem it.

I think if you preorder digitally you don't need a code, just search the store for the beta and you can download it.

Gonna take the plunge and upgrade to an Xbox One X thru that Gamestop promo. Trading in the vcr X1 for $200 and my PS4 that I haven't touched since last summer for $250. Also have a few duplicate games I can trade to bring the total to less than $50, even with tax included.

Hyped for tomorrow to come. Gonna wipe both systems tonight before I trade em in. Hoping to upgrade to a 4k/hdr tv this fall season to complete the set up.

Edit: Just realized starting today, the promo includes any new $60 game. Hmmmm, what to pick? Leaning towards Vampyr since I'd like to own it physical.

Or find the game with highest Gamestop value and trade it back in for cash, if you're in a state that does the cash same as credit promo right now.

Excellent line of thinking. Unfortunately, I'm in California and most stores near me don't offer this option. Guess I could flip it on Craiglist or something like that, but I loved Life is Strange and I've been itching to play Vampyr. I'm a cheapo though, so its kept me from buying it since the game released

I'll be on tonight to play some more blops, if anyone wants to form a team lemme know! I'll be on prolly around 9 or 10 EST until fairly late (gotta have that anniversary dinner first). HIT ME UP.
Just played some of the open beta on PC, and yep, I am officially unable to play FPS on PC anymore. Just can't do it, lol. And the beta doesn't support gamepads, so I'm SOL. Uninstalled.

I ended up back near the mall. Went to GS with my receipt. Woman didn't know about the free physical game. Her co-worker did though and handed her a slip of paper with the promo. Guess it has Madden 19 on it. She gave me that instead of asking. I was going to pick that anyway. Hopefully a decent trade promo for that soon.

Just a heads up as I didn't realize this myself until the other week when I traded in one of my consoles. GameStop claims they'll wipe the console themselves and if you wipe it ahead of time, it supposedly takes an hour plus to get it back in a state where they can test it. So if you do wipe it, go through the process of booting it back up first, but set up a fake email when it asks for an account.

My sweet new controller came with a sweet 14 day gold code and a sweet 14 day game pass code. If anyone would like one speak now or forever hold your  fuck .

Thanks to the person who posted the 8TB deal from Ebay.I checked my 5TB drive and had 2GB free on it. Now get to xfer all that data over.

Downloaded, played, got a few achievements and uninstalled OnRush in less than an hour.

It is a fun game but something didn't click. Can't put finger on it. Literally spent more time downloading it than playing it.

At the end, this was my reaction to it:

https://youtu.be/P18aIsqoS8Y

Maybe later down the road, once it goes free in a year or so as it has "GWG" written all over it.

Any regulars want a COD beta key? First one whose name I recognize that tells me their favorite album of all time gets it.

Edit: Gone

Yeah it seems really repetitive to me and just not all that fun after awhile. The actual game mechanics seem really boring, ha I know people on True Achievements are just rubber banding the RT button on their controller to grind the achievements and it's really not taking any longer than I was playing legit. It had no chance as a $60 title maybe a $29 game and even that seems really high.

It's worth it to me personally. I spend a lot of time gaming and probably 80% or more of that is on Xbox. I'm by far the most invested in the Xbox ecosystem between the domination they had last generation and the pro-consumer practices of now, like BC, among a bunch of other reasons. I pretty much only play multiplatform games on Xbox unless I get something for dirt cheap elsewhere, or want it on the go for Switch. Finally, I generally wait at least a year to upgrade to the next generation of consoles, so I think I'll be fine there. If all these studio acquisitions pay off and MS can actually give me a reason to want to upgrade sooner then it's win/win I guess.

As far as the retro stuff, the majority of stuff I'm going to trade/sell is ancient stuff I have little to no affection for personally. The consoles pre-NES are just not that interesting to me, and have been sitting in a closet for like 10 years. Any Nintendo related stuff I'm taking in tomorrow (N64 and Ocarina so far) is stuff that I have multiple of so won't actually be without. Finally I'm getting rid of most of my Genesis and possibly Game Gear stuff. With Genesis I have access to everything I care about on modern systems, and Game Gear is beyond cumbersome in the modern age. As I've gotten older I've gotten less attached to the hundreds of cartridges that rarely get touched in my house, so I've slowly been pairing back to just my most fond games for the two main consoles from my childhood, SNES and N64, along with other Nintendo stuff mostly. As far as building up a new collection, I've actually switched to more recent consoles in the past year. I've gained more interest in PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and Wii. I think I've just played enough of the older stuff to the point that I'm fine with emulating it if I really get the itch.

Lastly, the heavy blow is softened a bit by the bonus $60 game and PUBG code I can gift or sell.

I’m not a big racing game fan, but I’m agreeing with the OnRush sentiments so far. It’s fun for a few minutes, and I can see what they’re going for with the grindy features and loot boxes, but there’s not much there. Haven’t even tried the online, so I might do a game or two before uninstalling, but the story mode is just very meh. Some easy achievements, though - had 4 pop in the tutorial race alone. Also, I’m surprised it’s not cheaper, and doesn’t have more options to buy coins with real money - it seems very much like it’s trying to be the Fortnite of racing games, with its style and the loot boxes, etc. Oh well, can’t complain too much for a free weekend. Though it is digging into my Overwatch time and I need some of those new skins!

Preorder bonus for TWD collection for the final season / 4 ends in two days when the new season releases:

https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/367944-walking-dead-final-season-preorder-for-20-on-ps4-or-xbox-get-all-previous-games-free/

On the fence.
As someone who beat the first season 3 times... don't do it.

The story of the first one was great but the next two seasons are not even close to as good.

The reason I beat the first one 3 times was because I beat it on the 360, then the X1 version came out as GWG so I decided to beat it again, and now the "collection" version is slightly prettier so I beat all 3 of them in anticipation of the final season.

I do however like the new art direction. It's like TLOU lite from my demo experience.

I feel like I'll just wait for them all to be GWG or Gamepass instead of doing the $20 preorder thing. I'm not a huge fan of Telltale games though, although Wolf Among Us was pretty good. The gameplay just puts me to sleep.

I disagree completely. Season 2 is just as good as 1 to me and I've played them both multiple times. Season 3 is definitely a step down but it's still worth playing especially if you're invested in the characters.

But on the other hand...easy achievements/trophies. Except for that damn rock-paper-scisscors achievement.

As someone who beat the first season 3 times... don't do it.

The story of the first one was great but the next two seasons are not even close to as good.

i like the story in the 2nd season more, it was far less predictable

This. I've only played Season 1 of The Walking Dead & enough of S2 to pop a couple of achievements. So going digital AND its a whole new set of chievos + I enjoy the story? Yeah, I'll bite. Plus I never played S3 and I can play a game for once(Season 4) right when it comes out.

Gonna download Onrush since y'all are talking bout more easy achievements to be had. Count me in. Installed We Happy Few, but didn't even have a chance to play after I got home. Too tired

Well, it only took me 6 years, 10 months and 20 days but I finally got the "Judge, Jury and Executioner" achievement in Gears 3 ;-)

Better late than never I guess.

Anyone have any trouble with true achievements on mobile? It won't display the game half the time except for the header and footer.

Wanted to look at roundabout achievements. Tried it out on gamepass. It's a fun goofy game but wouldn't want to pay more than a few dollars to own it. Decided I didn't like it enough to want to 100% it. Especially after seeing one of the achievements was to play one of the challenges for 8 hours straight.

I guess I am the only person in the world who likes OnRush.  I bought it day 1 and still play a lot in spurts.  Yeah it's shallow but it's so chaotic in that every race is different to me.  It's perfect for an hour here and an hour there.  I played the hell out of old Motorstorm and Burnout games as well as Blur so this is the best way currently for me to satisfy that itch on current gen.  Wreckest on steam is a blast and is coming to consoles this Fall - similar type battle game but with actual races not endless loops of chaos.

Sadly it seems that OnRush was stillborn and any future DLC tracks are probably not going to happen.  Yes $60 is way too much but if they drop it to $20 or less or GamePass it then maybe there will be new life.

So people probably already know this but.

You can cheat in Dead Cells. When you die just dashboard and quit out of game. When you start it again your in the same level.

Of course it's not gonna help if your under powered vs the boss but it is what it is.

I really enjoyed the beta, but didn't buy because it was nowhere near a $60 value. Then the missing features and cutbacks at the developer showed I was right not to take that leap. It was lots of fun, but I was equally served by Burnout Revenge which had just gone BC.

I found this out after I cleared the last level and the game crashed when I unlocked the treasure room. I then cleared the level again and proceeded to die against the first repeat mini boss fight. I hate those two Trackers, and the mechanics of those mini boss fights wherein you instantly die if you take too many hits - regardless of shield blocking or healing. I've only made it past those three fights a few times, and the final boss has completely owned me in seconds every time. On the plus side, the wiki says I only have like 5 more blueprints to unlock.

Oh, and if you don't know - Magnetic Grenades are insane for clearing rooms out. I slept on those for awhile because I assumed they would have a small area and just pull things together. Boy was I wrong. Massive area that hits offscreen, hits every target in range at once, does respectable damage, interrupts attacks (not against bosses), can pull things off ledges or into traps for massive damage, and bunches things up for a well placed turret or another grenade when you get impatient. If it was better against bosses it would be god tier, but alas I suppose it has to have some downside.

Just played the Crew 2 for a short while. This one's going back to Redbox. It's hard to play any racing games with Forza Horizon 4 on the way because we all know it's going to be the best ever.

Euro Fishing: Castle Edition
Euro Fishing: Urban Edition

That's...a thing.

I'd say Walking Dead Collection is worth it if you missed out on any seasons or were getting season 4 any time soon. Soon meaning before the 2 or 3 years it will take for seasons 3 AND 4 to hit GWG. At best you save 50% on season 4 in like a year.

I did manage to get my One X today. After a lot of finagling I managed to get the new system without paying out of pocket, along Injustice 2 Legendary Edition for my free game (I'm all caught up on recent Xbox releases I'm interested in). I also ended up with a used copy of Torment: Tides of Numenera and $40 profit. Now I just have about 20 years of downloading ahead of me.

I picked up Storm Island as well since the delistings started.
