For those starting FFXIII, the story is not explained well, and relies a lot on codex entries or datalogs after story events to fill in the gaps (not unlike Destiny). Even with them, the terms they use are some fantasy nonsense which are hard to keep up with (FalCie, L'Cie... WTF?). Thought I'd share a write-up I found that helps make sense of things, which will hopefully make the game more enjoyable. I wish the localization had went with terms that were more different from each other.

Quoting the portion that explains basics and beginning of the story, the full thread has story spoilers:

There are two planet spheres. Cocoon and Pulse. Most of the gang is all from Cocoon. Cocoon is a modern society where life basic necessarities are provided by these God-like structures called "Fal'cie". The other planet, the planet down below is Gran Pulse. The people of Cocoon believe that Pulse is wild and uncivilized. No one lives there. Pulse also has the giant god like Falcie. Cocoon an Pulse Falcie are at war with each other. In order for each to make an army, the Falcie from each planet turn humans into l'cie. People with super strength and magic. So, you get cocoon l'cie "those turned by cocoon Falcie" and pulse l'cie "those turned by pulse Falcie"
 
In the begining of te game, the party was fighting on Cocoon. But there lay a Pulse Falcie on Cocoon! Dun dun dun. The pulse Falcie, Anima, turned the party into Pulse l'cie. Meaning, an Enemy of cocoon. L'cie are given a mission, a focus, to complete for the Falcie. If they don't hurry up and do it, they turn into a zombie, cieth. 
 
Why are people being "purged?" The people of cocoon live pleasant lives. They are fearful of the planet down below, pulse. So when they hear that a pulse falcie had managed to get onto cocoon and turn them into Pulse warriors, the people panic and demand anyone in contact to be sent to Pulse. The gov, the sanctum , listened to the people and was forcefully relocating everyone who was near the town of Bodhum to the planet Pulse. Where they would likely die. Snow and others fought against this genocide, and that's what the battle taking place is. The party hops on board to that big ship in order to rescue Sazh and Vanille. Who are going to be publicly executed. This is being done to keep the people feeling safe. "Don't worry people, we are going to kill the pulse l'cie. We have it all in control."
 
So, they decide to go after those in the gov that are leading this genocide.

But meowth taught himself to talk after a girl meowth rejected him because she liked humans

so meowth taught himself to talk and walk

still got rejected

As for the Detective pikachu only that guy can understand him, everyone can understand meowth

The others that can "talk" to humans usually use telepathy

Pikachu can only talk to that kid because the kid can somehow understand pokemon. He can understand all pokemon from what I gather, so the kid is special not the pikachu.

 
Started the Final Fantasy XV Comrades DLC, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised as I enjoyed it, even when I had to grind the first mission. Check back with me when my last locked achievement is the one that requires hours and hours of grinding.
 
Anybody else run into this issue - I tried playing Battlefield 1 online for the first time.  The game went straight to picking an EA account ID with an e-mail address that I haven't had access to in over 8 or so years.  It was the original e-mail address for my Live account, but is no longer my Live e-mail.  I may have used it for an EA game back in the 360 days years ago - this is the first EA game I've tried playing online with Xbox One.  There is no option to change the EA account login e-mail anywhere in the game.

I wasted a lot of time with EA support and they were completely useless (basically just kept telling me how to change the e-mail address for the EA account that I can't get into, or that they can't recover the password for that EA account because I can't prove ownership).  I eventually signed in on the EA site using my Xbox Live credentials, and it let me pick a user name but it won't let me change the password or e-mail without entering the account password.  So apparently my Xbox gamertag is associated with an ancient EA account that I can't access, while I already have a newer EA account that I use for Origin/PS4 already.

From the numerous posts I've read on EA support forums, many other people have this problem and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.  This is just absolutely mind boggling.

I just sent mine in this morning. I'm a little nerves since I couldn't reset the system and wipe the HD of my profile since it refuses to show picture on the tv.

Yeah, FF XIII was nuts. I remember watching the ending with my wife and looking at each other like, "Uhhhhh..." I agree with you on the unnecessarily similar terms adding to the confusion, too.

However, I really liked the game once the world opened up and I got used to the combat. The music was great, I had some fun doing a little post-game grinding, and I got to laugh at Vanille's summon. Good times.

I didn't wipe my profile but they did, it came back wiped. Which was annoying, Nintendo replaced parts in my switch and left installs and profiles intact.

Yeah I understand the premise. My response was to gamegirl saying she didn't remember any other creatures speaking besides Mewtwo. I merely pointed out Meowth also spoke in full sentences. I think reshiram, zekrom and kyurem did as well. And I believe the keldeo, terrakion, verizion group did as well.
This kid has the gift of understanding them the way Harry understood parseltongue

There is no option to change the EA account login e-mail anywhere in the game.

I wasted a lot of time with EA support and they were completely useless (basically just kept telling me how to change the e-mail address for the EA account that I can't get into, or that they can't recover the password for that EA account because I can't prove ownership). I eventually signed in on the EA site using my Xbox Live credentials, and it let me pick a user name but it won't let me change the password or e-mail without entering the account password. So apparently my Xbox gamertag is associated with an ancient EA account that I can't access, while I already have a newer EA account that I use for Origin/PS4 already.

From the numerous posts I've read on EA support forums, many other people have this problem and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. This is just absolutely mind boggling.

I had this same issue years ago but I got it to work by calling them. I believe I needed to sign into the old email account to switch everything over though. If you no longer have access, I don’t think this will help, so I’m sorry. I do find it frustrating that in today’s day and age with emails and tech that they don’t have any other way for you to verify and swap it over. Best of luck, EA can be pains in the rear.

Google is your friend in this case! Just go to google and type in "Random number generator" and it pops up as a google tool.

That's how i do it anyway

I Think the kid understands Pikachu because he was murdered before entering that tournament that he has a plane ticket for and basically the whole movie is a Jacob's Ladder type scenario. I Dare you all to tell me otherwise.

Man I can’t wait. Any indication of the hour it drops? Thankfully I grabbed some Microsoft cash from Rakuten last time it was 15 percent off, I’ll drain that on my important picks and hope they do another sale before BF sale ends. I know some of em like Odyssey will likely be an extra 5% off on the sale next month, if it’s done like how it was last year according to parser.

The regular 360 version stand alone is $14.99 on xbox.com. It can be played through backwards compatibility on the Xbox One but True Achievements didn't have it listed as any kind of enhancements.

I too, would love for Dead Cells to go on sale. I recall not bothering with checking up on the game until lots of people in here started singing its praises. Knowing me however, I'd be a cheapass and need a deeper discount so its in the realm of $10ish or so

Edit: Welp, Dead Cells is there. But at 20% off for $20? My stingy ass can be patient
