I've had it on PC for about a year now, and I dig it. The stages are procedurally generated, so you're going to see a lot of repeated obstacles, and the game gets harder and harder as you progress. On the other hand, if you've been collecting power-ups, your characters quickly become superhuman, and obstacles that seemed insurmountable when you started will present little challenge to you after four or five levels.

It's good. Much of what makes people like Mega Man X is faithfully captured here, without some of the cheapness. Fall off a cliff and you're penalized one health point, rather than an entire life. There's also a lot of references (Blue Lander from The Guardian Legend makes an appearance as a power-up) and the Dr. Wily/Dr. Light expies have a dynamic not unlike Woldorf and Statler, the old geezers from The Muppets. There's an undercurrent of passive-aggressive hostility toward the player that could annoy, but I suppose it makes it all the sweeter once you win. It'll take a long time to get that good, though.

Thanks for this, more or less what I was looking for. Ended up getting it, had some extra credit besides the $2 or so that was expiring, so not much out of pocket, and if I’m going to break into the rogue-like stuff, Mega Man clone is a good way to do it. I’ll have to check back once I’ve played a bit.
 
Real talk, I’m a bit hard of hearing (too many loud shows and a blown out eardrum from sinuses) so I’m playing Hellblade with subtitles. But sometime there is like mumbling or something and it doesn’t have subtitles. Is that important? Am I missing something?
 
My Year in Review brought about something interesting: 102 hours in shooters, but my top game was Injustice 2 at 90 hours. That's a very loose definition of shooter.

The sound was one of the fun parts of the game. It puts you in the shoes of the actual character. Id wait to play it until you could actual use sound :D

I know we don't talk about Let's Plays much if at all here, but the Super Best Friends channel just died. These were just about the only LPers I ever found entertaining enough to stick with, I think because they stuck with playing stuff they found cool instead of jumping on current trends for views. Case in point, they had a big emphasis on both good and terrible fighting games and have a new game played every Friday/Saturday, but rather than rushing a big video out for Smash Ultimate's launch with none of the roster unlocked, they held off so they could have the full experience and instead played an obscure and bad doujin fighter. In 9 years, they never did "like and subscribe" begging either. They've always just felt very sincere and I think that's what made me like them. They also have a pretty popular gaming podcast that at least is going to live on with a new name with two of the three members. Lastly, while they never became a huge channel they did a lot of promotion that got many big channels going, and often promoted up and coming indie games, both with coverage and funding. If you've played games like Shovel Knight, Skullgirls, or Divekick and many more, you've likely seen a bit of their influence with either themselves or their goofy Zubaz character appearing in them.

Anyways, the three guys all started separate channels and streams in the last year or so, and put out good solo content so check them out if any of this sounds interesting. Their individual channels are linked in the description of the video.

I've been following these guys since day one, and they've brought me a lot of laughs and joy over the past 9 years. They're the reason I've recommended Pizza Titan Ultra to everyone here, they're the reason I yell "When's Marvel?" in a theater for DC movie, they're the reason all my Argonians in Elder Scrolls are named Reptile. It's sad to see these guys go, but we will always have the short snippets, the full LPs, the hours of fighting games, the years of Shitstorms, and the glory that is The Baz.

The voices and sound mixing are the defining things about the game so if you can't hear it and are just reading subtitles it's barely worth playing and it was one of my favorite games last year. It almost needs to be played with headphones or a great sound system.

Oh you played it great! Maybe you can answer my question. It's it as unforgivable as it says, Everytime you fail the darkness spreads and if it reaches her head you have to start completely over? Can you not save between areas and go back if you fail?

If you have headphones, you should definitely be using them since it's highly recommended for Hellblade.

 
I finally got the email just now that everyone was getting the 10$ from

it's not set up the same way for us late receivers and there is no reward hidden anywhere

There’s an option in the game for scaling difficulty, so you can probably turn that off and set it to lower difficulty if you’re worried about the combat. I had a challenging time but I think I only “died” once and I didn’t have to go that far back. It’s tough but super rewarding once you make it through a long battle or boss fight.

I just saw Deryk Engelland at Target, I didn’t want to bug him though so I didn’t go ask for a photo. Now I’m kind of wishing I had. I had my VGK hoodie on too, he wasn’t wearing anything with VGK on it and he had one of his kids with him so I thought maybe I should leave him alone.

He is a Vegas Golden Knights defensemen.

I bought Hellblade a while back and it’s great. I had to take it in pieces but it’s a great experience. If you have headphones and aren’t using them with the game, you are doing it wrong.

Unrelated, I find it hilarious that in the spirit of Christmas, Fallout decides to sell Santa suits for 20 dollars. What a bunch of Scrooge's! The least they could do is offer a freebie after all the backlash.

It's been a while since I played but I think I remember one of the gaming sites trying to die enough to make it restart and it never actually did and I think ninja theory eventually admitted that it would never start over but wanted the threat to add to the mental stress aspect of the game (since the game deals with mental health issues)

My thought process when I read about Backpack Kid suing Epic over Fortnite using his dance included...

"Who the hell is Backpack Kid?"

"Is he an actual kid with a backpack or just a rapper with terrible naming abilities?"

"Was he a backpack bitten by a radioactive kid?"

"And I don't care anymore..."

All within the span of five seconds.

It's just money grubbers coming out of the woodwork. All these new lawsuits are reminding me of when Guitar Hero started getting sued by all those bands for stuff like "improper use of likenesses" or whatever. These people probably don't care or at least aren't aware, but when something blows up like Fortnite or Guitar Hero and they hear how much money is being made they just want a piece of the pie. This situation is different though since with Guitar Hero those people or at least their business people had to approve it and got paid to begin with.

That said, I don't think a person can own the rights to a dance with the current laws in the US. Yes, they may have created or popularized it, but it seems like it would sort of become "public domain" since anyone in the world can dance. It seems like they'll have a hard time truly having a case unless they can get some kind of copyright or whatever like the Carlton guy claims he is doing. Though he also says they used his likeness and that doesn't seem accurate to me. I'd guess most of these are just hoping that Epic will do an out of court settlement to avoid the headache of court. With "Backpack Kid", he is literally a kid so it's likely the parents with these thoughts. I'm not saying it's not a bit lame that Epic and other devs are just cashing in on these goofy dances instead of simply creating entirely original emotes, but I don't think it's illegal.

 
Finished both Never Alone (GWG) and The Gardens Between (GP) over the last couple of days. Both easy 1000g for those inclined and only a few "tricky" spots between them.

He said he wouldn't know until he runs the scan again tomorrow between 1-3ET to see when it flips froms days to hours
