Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Are we sure about Okami being free to play soon? I know it’s on the anime page and it’s under the Naruto game that was ftp last weekend but it doesn’t actually say “Free Play Days” or whatever, and if it was just a heads up for the sale that would make sense with it starting tonight/tomorrow.

I mean, I’m hoping it’s free to play for a few days, but at this point I really don’t think it will be.
Yeah I amended it previous page. It might not happen. If it doesn't then u guys can just buy it.. or wait for gwg/gamepass lol.

From my memory Okami was compared as a better game then Twilight Princess, but I think Okami had lower reviews. 92% vs 95% which is still pretty good.

Didn't see it mentioned: $5 Xbox cards are a Hot Deal for 3500 points right now. The year of XBL is also still a Hot Deal for 21k - have they run deals simultaneously before? The $5 cards probably aren't $10, but might still be worth cashing out now.

I Was about to throw away my store bought copy of Okami out the trash to see it's a whole 3% inferior of a game! But looked and the metacritic score of the XBox One HD remake has 1% higher score than the WiiU's Twilight Princess HD remake. Now I'm confused and scared.

Side note: I've bought this game for my PS2, Wii, PS3 and PS4 and played it, enjoyed it, but never beaten it.

Purchased Slayaway Camp.

Going to think about Okami for a few days.

I've been looking into the AC:  Origins Season Pass.

It looks like it contains these four things:

Access to 2 major expansions in 2018: - The Hidden Ones: Continue your adventure with Bayek as he leads the Hidden Ones, years after the events of Assassin's Creed Origins in a whole new region. - The Curse of the Pharaohs: Explore a mystical world where you battle beasts from Egyptian mythology. Fight against undead pharaohs and mummies in a supernatural realm.

Unlock 2 exclusive customization packs: - Roman Centurion Pack: Donning the lion pelt of Rome's fiercest soldiers, complete your exclusive gear set with 2 weapons, 1 shield, and 1 mount. - Horus Pack: Horus, the Egyptian God of the Sky, shows favor to your Assassin with this exclusive outfit. It includes 1 mount, 2 bows, and 1 shield.

Well, I couldn't care less about exclusive customization packs.  So really, I'm paying 32 bux for two expansions.  The first one is only 10 dollars at normal price, so I'm thinking the other one will be priced similarly.

So... why the hell would anyone buy the season pass?  Seems like an awful deal if all you want is story/gameplay expansions.  I'll just buy the two expansions for ten dollars a pop.  Even if the second expansion is priced at 15 or 20 dollars, it's still cheaper than the season pass - even during this sale.

hahaha well no they were saying it was a better game but critics said otherwise, I think the infutation of Zelda gave it the extra points. Most people who I spoke to liked Okami better.

Sadly I never beat it either. I got it on Wii and had it on PS2 at one point. Now I'm gonna grab it on X since It's X enhanced and what not.

Speaking of which just finished Iron Man 1 on 4k DVD. Not worth the import if you own it on blu-ray. Gonna watch the second and third one later. Heard better things about those.

Didn't those 4K conversions get farmed out to a local team instead of being done by the Disney/Marvel teams direct?

Yes. They can only be imported from Germany. They are fake 2k conversions, but look better then the blu-rays at least. They get better by each entry, first being barely a upgrade over the blu-ray. Not sure if Disney will do their own take down the road or what.

The second expansion for Assassins Creed Origins will be larger than the first, similar to The Witcher 3 in scope and will cost $20. You also get extra weapons, outfits, mounts, an extra mission and 3 extra ability points to spend on your character with the season pass. If you only strictly care about are the story based expansions then yes it comes out cheaper to buy them individually.

In for Toy Soldiers: War Chest. I had a good time playing this series on the 360 so I have no doubt I'll enjoy the latest game in the series.

Also buying Uno because it's Uno.

I'm sure every CAG and their grandma owns it already, but nobody should be buying Assassin's Creed Unity for $12.

It's $0.67 at CDKeys.

Thanks Bloomy. But I think I'm safe this week.

if you haven't noticed Attack on Titan Season 101 is free in the Microsoft store. Of course seasons 102 and 200 are not free, but for $22 for the whole series up to current (37 episodes) it's not bad. yes there will be another season coming. i already cheated and did fansubs.

It seems like Assassins Creed has done funky things with their season passes a few times now. I think AC3 was the last one where it was actually cheaper to buy the SP than story/achievement packs separate. Black Flag and Syndicate both just had one storyline pack with achievements and the rest was cosmetics in the SP. At least Unity gave away the story dlc free, but ther was no SP.

XBox One Month Game Pass

Sorry for the puke green lol

Almost redeemed the game pass but changed my mind, thanks David. I keep thinking of using a trial for halo 5 and roundabout plus some others if I had time left but figure I need to keep going at the backlog and maybe beat master chief collection first since I haven't played any of them.

Working my way through MCC for first time. 1 and 2 were good. I really enjoyed switching between OG and remastered view. Just finished halo 3 and I’m disappointed. Graphics bleh and the glitches while co op were insane. Let’s hope 4 runs better.

Like this post to enter a drawing for a 1 year XBL Gold code. Two winners will be drawn around 8pm Eastern Friday.
At first I wanted to like this post just so I can get a chance at getting a year of gold but at second thought I barely respond or post anything on this thread. So in other words I feel I don't deserve this opportunity. But thank you Bloomy for offering this chance anyways.

I got all the 360 versions for free and never got around to playing any except a bit of multiplayer of 3 and the first mission or 2 of reach. The series has never really interested me and the plot of reach is the only one that sounds cool to me but I want to play through them all at least once to say I've played them. Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised and enjoy them.

Also all you guys and gals are pretty nice and easy going people judging by the many posts I've seen in the past. So I like to say thank you to all of you for keeping this thread interesting for me when I have nothing to do lol.

Feel free to enter. If I wanted to restrict the entrants to those that post regularly, I would've done that (and did consider it for one of the codes).

Don’t let the so called “regulars” scare you off, just because they spend all their free time here talking about which games to backlog and never play, sports, some politics and children. I spend real time lurking this page every day, figure that entitles me to some free stuff now and then too.

Thanks Bloomy for maintaining the one and only best thread on the site, you da real MVP!

For some reason getting a “there’s a problem storing your reputation vote” error. Anyway, thanks for the contest!

Surprised that so many people dislike Halo 3 - not trying to argue, everyone has their opinion and it’s cool that people are getting to play through the good Halo games (and experience what Bungie was like back when they were a good studio). Personally 3 is my favorite of the original trilogy, although ODST and Reach top it for my faves of the series.

Surprised how much AC Black Flag has held its value, used copies are still in the $15 range. I played a friend's copy on PS3 years ago but didn't get terribly far and wouldn't mind revisiting it.

And before anyone mentions that it was GWG, I wasn't subscribing back then.

Just noticing the stealth price bump from $9.99 to $14.99 on Artifex Mundi games. I've enjoyed them a lot in the past, but $15 seems a bit steep for what you get.

You are awesome for doing that. It'd be insanely cool if I win Friday to go along with game pass I'm getting this Friday as well!

Good luck all!

Ummm it was free through GWG..... lol j/k.
I highly recommend you pick it up if you have any interest in pirates and the AC series. It was my favorite and I’ve played every entry in the series. It really was a lot of fun from start to finish but of course as you’ll probably read in most reviews there were far too many “stealth” type missions where you had to pursue someone and not be seen which slowed down the pacing and enjoyment quite a bit at times.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I had been saving for the bing hot deal - 20,300 points for 1 year of xbox live. I was hoping to make the cutoff, but it was going to be pretty close.

22 days until it expires, 6300 points needed. If I average 286 points a day, I can get it by the 28th!

Then the hot deal randomly jumps from 20,300 points to 21,000. Those 700 points are HUGE. Now I need 7000 in 22 days, or an average of 319 points a day...

I think I will miss the hot deal by like 200 or 300 points, and that is the worst.

Meanwhile, the 5 dollar cards are "hot" for 3500 points.

Do I abandon my attempt at 21,000 and cash out four 5 dollar cards right now, or keep saving for that 21,000 and risk missing BOTH offers and getting nothing???

First world problems.

I Always enjoy games where I die in the tutorial mission, so thanks Watch_Dogs for getting me killed by police in a high speed chase and not taking into account I suck at driving for why I "accidentally" hit so many civillians before getting shot by cops after I ran into too many cars. Then later when I got to my hideout and thought the grate I parked on said "Explore" not "Explode", but I learned the hard dying way what you meant.

I was thinking the same thing. Ive never liked 2 nearly as much as the original but thought 3 was a much better game than it. The weapons seemed to better balanced in 3 compared to 2 seeming to be all about duel wielding.

I enjoyed the combat and enemy Variety in Halo 2 the most, but Halo 3 is when they finally figured out good level design without endlessly relying on retracing your footsteps through boring set pieces.

Just redeemed a $5 Hot Deal code and noticed that my MS account balance had jumped quite a bit. Looked in my account history and saw a sizeable refund on 2/1/2018. No idea what this is for, other than maybe for the Groove codes that I had redeemed.
