Speaking of Mark of the Ninja no BC today it seems. MS seems to take the week off when they have something big going on like Sea of Thieves. They had been on a nice roll again for a bit. 

 
Yay for Bing Rewards...By the time my GamePass trial is up, I'll have enough points for a 3-month membership. I've essentially saved the price of a new game considering that I committed to buying and playing Sea of Thieves with friends months ago and now I don't have to buy it at all.

 
I wasn’t so sure about Sea of Thieves from the beta I participated in but will give it another shot. Is there any more direction as far as a “story” in the full game?

There is no story. It plays exactly like the beta. The differences are: more cosmetics/items to buy, you have more factions from which you can purchase voyages/quests, the voyages include finding chests (like in beta) but also could include fetching livestock, there are additional NPC activities (random kraken attack at sea, NPC forts you can fight and loot), etc.

A mechanically well-made and potentially fun game, but I'd only recommend it via Game Pass. This is not a $60 game.

Keep in mind that most achievement hunters would have already done most of the good games with easy completions. I don't hunt as much anymore, but with a gamerscore at over 300k now, there aren't many easy AND good games that I haven't already played.

I hope so. Tried playing the 360 version on the VCR and the X, and both ran into game breaking glitches. Maybe they'll rebuild and work them out.

 
My recommendation for Sea of Thieves is Game Pass as well.

At least check out the gorgeous water and coop sailing controls (solo on a smaller boat works fine too), but a lot of people are not going to like the game at full price: lack of tutorial, no stat progression, ground combat is fine but not deep, quests can be repetitive.

 
Is anybody still seeing special deals on Gamepass? Some had mentioned seeing 6 month and 1 year subs in their drop down for half price.

I still have yet to see those offers. If it's possible to gift them I would PayPal if someone would be so kind.

No need to worry about that, I got a refund for the purchase from MS support because the :xb1: version never went free/cheap.

I suspect that when the vanilla version of the game was replaced with the Gold version of the game that they killed the free/cheap upgrade to the :xb1: version.

 
Picked up the TF2 ultimate. Cmon for $6 bucks it’s a rebuy.

Been playing the crap outta JC3 from a couple weeks ago sale. Not sure what all the bad vibe was about. I kinda like the slow frame rate at times, lets me catchup from all the explosions and crazy stuff happening.
 
I was wondering - when MS does the game pass offers during big sales for the game pass (i.e. 99 cents for game pass) is it for all users or just new users? I'm considering game pass just for Sea of Thieves but would probably cancel the subscription once I am tired of the game and re-subscribed if I get an offer or get a 99 cents offer or wait another big release.

Anyone recall what the offer was like?

Yeah, there are examples where it's happened but I would say less of a chance at the moment. Since Mark of the Ninja was one I hoped they would do just made look to see if we were going to get any announcement today.

Thank you Lord for saying this. I tried it as part of game pass but man it's pretty fucking awful. Seriously Rare spent all that time on that. Then PS4 get GoW and Ni No Kuni 2. Ugh. Xbox is all about making their games streaming friendly. I don't get it.

Streaming friendly? Huh? Xbox doesn’t have any streaming games. That’s one thing I like about GamePass over PS Now.

That said, I am still glad to have my PS4 — looking forward to both GoW and Ni No Kuni 2.

But still love my X for all multiplats and 4K goodness!

At one point they were testing it for BC. It’s on my X1X HDD from some workaround that was posted on here a while back.

I’m not sure if that means it will eventually go BC or if it has been abandoned for a remaster/port/whatever. The title was published by MS Studios so I would hope that they would add it to the BC library. But I’m usually wrong.
 
So over Sea of Thieves at the moment. Spent an hour now almost exclusively trying to get in an actual game after the servers being locked all day. Got in a match made crew and everyone just ran around until they gave up and left and I couldn't get back into an actual game. Play with friends or stay away. Glad this is free game pass trial.

 
Just played Sea of Thieves and its pretty much the same as the 1st Alpha except for more stuff to grind for, just disappointed that there not much content and its rinse and repeat, this is not a $60 title 

 
I feel like Skull and Bones from Ubisoft is going to be the pirate game I want to play. Watching videos of Sea of Thieves showed me I wasn't the target market for it. It looked boring to me and didn't make my list of something I even want to try. Hence I'm not giving my opinion of the actual game, it might be great. I have no desire to try it. The only officially announced unreleased exclusive I have on my radar for Xbox is the Ori sequel. I sure hope they have stuff at E3.

I play Overwatch and Zelda BotW mostly right now.
 
Just think, Rare could have spent all that time making a mind-blowing XBX Enhanced current gen Battletoads game with three player co-op. Noooooooooooo, let's make a plotless, characterless, "game as a service" time waster instead. So depressing.
 
I had fun with Sea of Thieves tonight. Got in with someone who played the beta and knew what's up. It was nice having some guidance because the game has none.

Yup now I'm deathly afraid of E3. fuck and Microsoft has been doing so well.

If they don't have any good single player titles to show they are fucked. PS4 is bringing heat. GoW looks fucking amazing.

Seems like a lot of over reaction to the first 12 hours of Sea of Thieves. Not sure what the expectations were heading into it. These online world games evolve so much over time now. I don't think they'll put some epic Fable like single player story line in but I suppose nothing is stopping them. Just wait for the Pirate Royale mode.

Btw there is no formula to come up with a "mind-blowing" Battletoads game 

 
I'm guessing they sort of had to hype up Sea of Thieves since the pipeline was so dry.  I agree with Donken though, it wasn't a game that showed much promise for me personally, and hearing about the launch it doesn't sound like I'm missing much.  That said, I am looking forward to Far Cry 5 and State of Decay 2.

I agree. Only reason I wasted the bandwidth was cause of game pass.

I actually admire Rare for doing something completely different from everything out there. Having to work with others in an almost sim-ish way as a pirate.

Doesn’t appeal much to me but I still give them credit for it.

I messed around with SOT for a couple hours.  Really sparse world and boring.  My douchebag crew mates put me in the brig for no reason so after trying to break out with a shovel I just played an accordion thing for a while then went to sleep. The skeletons I fought were a joke along with the snakes, no sharks or Krakens sighted. I will check it out again in a few weeks since I have Game Pass until 2019 but disappointed thus far.  Back to Fortnite until Far Cry 5 next week!

It's a shame that MNS's movie didn't do better. I think they tinkered with the story too much and made a mediocre movie. Can you imagine seeing a live action version of how Book 1 ended instead of what we got?
