Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

And with that, the AC Chronicles trilogy will be complete.  I've been enjoying the 2 I've gotten so far, but I'm very glad I didn't end up buying them as they came out.

crappiest month for me in a long time

I always know not to buy that crap that is on sale all the time but do it anyway so def my own fault

Sonic Racing is the only thing great this month and I already have it. Still can’t believe the Smite crap. That is a new low.

I could see that as a bonus but not as one or the main four “games”.

Same. If I didn't buy Sonic last time it was on sale, I would be over the moon to get it for free.

Now I just wish they'd make the first one BC, since I've never played it. I know it's not supposed to be as good, but I still want to give it a spin.

Including free to play games as GWG sucks. I have 200 hours into Smite, it's an awesome game, but it's free to play so that is zero value.

I wouldn't mind a crazy Warframe bundle one month. Smite including gods is a bit lame since the unlock bundle has been so cheap. Tons of skins would be nice, maybe a debuting bundle would be a better idea.

Topical summary:

GWG:
The 360 games are good. Including Smite is a low blow. Assassin's Creed Russia means I can get rid of my physical copy. Sum zero.

Sale:
Nothing for me. Thanks for your work Bloomy.

Movies:
Haven't seen Deadpool or Solo yet. Saw A Quiet Place over the weekend and thought it was pretty good.

I must have modar (pronounced moo-dar; movie + radar) because I've never seen Catwoman, Green Lantern, or Punisher: War Zone.

That begs the question - Where does the $99.99 value come from then?
Killer Instinct is also free to play, and twice they included it in GWG by giving the Season 1/2 pass for characters. This seems to be a similar deal; they'll give a character/skin pack that normally sells for $100.

But Killer Instinct came with the original arcade games as well so there was additional value compared to whatever the hell Smite is.

Re: Smite as GWG

The odd thing about this pack they're giving out, if it's similar to the one on the PS4, is that it only gives access to something like 20 characters (there are over 90 characters in the game).  The other things of "value" (to add up to the $100) are skins and voice packs.  I say it's odd because there is a cheaper $30 pack that gives you access to all the gods, current and future.

If anyone is thinking about trying out Smite, it's easy enough to get into and start playing, but requires a certain mindset to get really good at it.  You have to really understand your character's abilities and weaknesses, plus those of the characters that your opponents have picked, in order to be great.  I couldn't be bothered to remember every character's abilities (there are over 90 characters, with 4-5 abilities each!) so I literally only played one character.  The ironic thing is that I have access to all the gods (current and future) for free.  Not sure if anyone else here took part in that glitch (the Ultimate God bundle was temporarily $0 in the store).  It was very short-lived (can't even find mentions of it on Google), Microsoft "corrected" it quickly, and people mentioned they no longer had access to that pack.  For some reason they never touched my account and I still have access to all the gods.

Also, be prepared for frequent updates if you're on any data plan with a quota or if you hate frequent updates like me.  Every one or two weeks they'll have 1+GB updates.  It annoyed me so much...

They also released a retail edition of Killer Instinct once all the content was released, and have supported the game a lot. I don't think anyone rolled their eyes at KI being on GWG because it was free to play/try, their model for it is a lot different and I think KI has much more sense of a value for the content.

So what exactly is Smite? I tend to avoid F2P games because I hate grinds and server shutdowns, which every F2P I’ve played has had.

Thing that annoys me about the Smite thing is that it’s one of the rare F2P games where you really don’t need to pay anything. It’s a decent game (from the little I have played) but I could care less about $100 worth of skins that have no effect on gameplay whatsoever.

Larry "Moe and Curly" Hryb needs to tell someone at Microsoft that people want Mortal Kombat 9 to be backward compatible. Nobody gives a rip about a ten year old Saint's Row game and some Micro Machines spin-off.
Apparently I'm ten years behind in video games. Seven years of post-secondary education will do that to you.

MK9 would be a welcome addition, but lots of people have been wanting SR1 since it was 360 exclusive and never even got a PC port. Nice to have the entire series playable on BC.

I’m excited for Sonic Racing, looks fun and hopefully I can convince some friends to play, too. As for LEGO Indy, am I the only person who enjoyed 1 more than 2? I played the crap out of the original, but the “Complete” version just didn’t feel the same even though it’s essentially the same games/stories.

Also, why did Major Nelson say all 4 Indy movies? Everyone knows there’s only 3.

MK9 was "announced" as a BC game by Ed Boon literally minutes after Phil Spencer revealed that BC was a thing. That was nearly 3 years ago, at E3 2015. Too bad it hasn't happened yet. However, MK9's netcode was beyond terrible and Netherrealm all but abandoned the game once Freddy Krueger was released four months after the base game came out.

BOOOOOOOO!!! What is this? 2014?? Ain't nobody got time for that!
Right? However in its defense it is definitely the faster of the Mobas I have played.

In other news, I was happy to be able to cash in 500 gems for 10k points today. Xbox Rewards still has 5,000 points for 250 gems available, but you're limited to 2.

Yep. Been busy with work and only now watched the trailer, but MM11 looks great. The art and mechanics look modern, but the proportions and style seem consistent with the original series (something I wish MM7 had done instead of those jumbo-sized sprites).

I also like that his appearance changes with power-ups. That's something Kitamura wanted to do when he created Mega Man, but the NES limitations made it so he just changed colors instead. Pretty cool they are employing that idea now. With the Prime discount, I'm definitely preordering.

EDIT: It's like Xmas around here.

The new Powerglove album is out, and includes 3 Mega Man tracks (Snake Man, the intro from MM3, and Spark Mandril theme):

Thanks, I'll need to check this out later. Their blood dragon soundtrack ruled. I wanted to catch them at pax east this year but was too busy. The booth I was helping out at was next to their merch table and they had some sweet stuff for sale, like a belt buckle.

I just wonder how reliant we'll have to be on the new mechanics. It's by no means a deal breaker, but I am a bit of a purist when it comes to classic Mega Man and I do like doing buster-only runs.

And since I frequent this thread alot more and this week's PSN deals suck, anyone want my 20% off PSN code that expires some time on Thursday?

Claimed.

Yeahhh I am cautiously optimistic about that. The slide and mega-buster were welcome additions IMHO, but these reboots sometimes try to fix things that aren't broken and add too much new stuff. I really just want classic gameplay with modern visuals, not unlike the original New SMB on DS or Sonic Mania.

The trailer suggests that's what this is, and for ~$24 on Prime, I'll take my chances.

If it's anything like Fox & Friends, I'll pass.
Lol. Looks like a really good looking platformer. I've been keeping an eye on it. Every level has 2 seasons to switch between. Things like switching from spring to fall to have leaves disappear from trees so you can get by, or from fall to spring to add leaves to create platforms, etc. That kinda stuff.

Wish our damn credits would get deposited. Wanted to pick up Yoku’s Island Express with it but may get it on PS4 since I have a 20% coupon there.

Moonlighter is supposed to be good too. Maybe I’ll get that on the Box.

I think I'm going to be chatting up M$ support to ask for a refund on street fighter 30th anniversary. The lack of no 3punch or 3kick button mapping makes it a bit difficult to pull off ex moves for 3rd strike. The game feels totally different than what im use to so in the end I hope the 360 version of 3rd strike goes BC.
