Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Its better than Junes simply for the inclusion of Splinter Cell. Virtua Fighter is a nice bonus as well. Junes were so bad the only one i remember is SMITE and that is based solely on its WTF nature of being in GWG.
June was a quality month for family games on the 360 though. Sonic Racing + Lego Indiana Jones 2. I like Splinter Cell. But having family games that can never be scratched is priceless.

Assault Android Cactus is my favorite twin stick shooter in a loong time. Highly recommend people check it out (and go for those S+ ranks, that's when it gets good)

XB1 games remain to be seen, 360 are pretty solid. Considering I'll be at CEO this weekend it'll be nice to have another fighter to come back to. I liked Lei Fei best.

And conspiracy hat to say a Splinter Cell game means a new game announcement is coming SOON (tm).

Value wise 360 side is bad. Quality wise Splinter Cell was great and Virtua Fighter is one of the best fighting games ever.

I haven't heard of either X1 game outside of Android Assault Cactus supposedly being decent and I think It's X enhanced to.

$64 worth of stuff is awfully cheap especially compared to Plus. This month's Xbone offerings are better than last month's, but the 360 stuff is worse imo.
+1 to all the people saying that Game Pass is killing GWG.

Yup. Exactly. Why they gonna give "free" games when they can charge you for them. They need figure out a way to combine Xbox live and game pass as another subscription option.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Agree, been thinking the same thing, they need to combine, i think I will only do 1 anymore.

It was bound to happen anyways. People forget we got MGS5, Super Mega Baseball 2, The Witness, Super Hot, Dead Space 2 and Vanquish over the last few months.

Though yes like others i have wonder how much Gamepass money takes out of the GWG money. I'm curious to how much they get per GWG title vs gamepass title income. MS now has to juggle between those two things and I'd imagine Gamepass is pretty important to get big name titles for more people to sign up.

I'd imagine less incentive to throw big titles in GWG/PS+ since the majority of those people are signing up just to play online. Next year in March Sony is also dropping the free PS3 and Vita titles per month so I'd imagine maybe even less titles given per month.

Why has no one mentioned Vinnie Paul yet? In this thread I expect every bit of pop culture news, interspersed with fast food trivia and reviews for games on other platforms, or so help me...!

R.I.P.
A while back, a few of us mentioned RIP Ziggy Stardust. Mods freaked out and deleted posts.

I'll take perma-digital copies of both 360 games. Based on the endorsement for the Android Cactus whatever, will probably give it a chance too.

I removed that phrase from my vocab.

20 years ago, I used it innocently... and was in turn accused of making a racist joke. Made me think twice about how different people can interpret things differently.

In before someone whines about this.

I Look at that gif and just think to myself "John Cusack you can not pull off that look. Button that shirt up."

Sounds like someone didn't understand the saying. Aside from simply including the word "black"...I can't imagine how that would come across as racist.

Would like to know more details on this. I don't mind being sensitive to people, but the phrase is talking about dirt, soot, etc. and how you shouldn't call others out for their dirtiness or dinginess when you yourself are also dirty and dingy. People of all races have been using pots and kettles for hundreds or thousands of years and they have been getting black, so this is not some slavery reference or anything else. I suspect that the phrase might only potentially seem racist to some people in our current culture because the more true meaning of it is so foreign to us. If we, as a society, are going to simply throw away any idiom or phrase or other words simply because someone can get offended by a word that could potentially be offensive without understanding the meaning or giving any room for interpretation we are on a very slippery slope.

It was my first "real" job out of college. I was just a young grasshopper and had a lot to learn about the world and the adult workplace. I found myself in a very uncomfortable situation in a split second. In my youthful inexperience, I attempted to explain myself … which only made things worse.

You don’t watch the news do you? This is literally the type of “outrage” everyone cries over these days lol

Am minority. Not offended. Settled. Let's move along.

I'm sure it wasn't, but that almost sounds like someone trying to haze you a little or joke around with the "new kid" by being fake offended. Again, I get that people may be truly offended by things and have legitimate reasons for it, but it's also on them to realize that many of us are not going around trying to offend them and so they shouldn't be making things worse by their reactions and the way it's handled. I know it's asking a lot, but if people didn't always assume the worst about each other, we'd be a lot happier.

GWG seems ok. More to maybe play with kids

Dark souls, so I’ve been playing it and it really sucks you in. (Only 20 hours so I’m still new)

Three things really stood out to me:
1) if option is quit or look something up, just look it up. Super helpful wikis out there.

2) think of it as experiencing stuff. I laugh at the set up traps. Not because I enjoy punishment but because I can appreciate how they were thinking in design.

3) really taught me a way to separate lore vs story. The story is convoluted and not great in my opinion. The back story of items and why something /someone is there is really interesting. I’ve never seen a game that item descriptions matter so much.

Please try it. I would suggest with a friend that you can ask questions. Get through some of that barrier of understanding.

Yeah, they definitely weren't hazing me … they were very serious. And this was someone that I had worked with for a few years at that point and that I knew fairly well.

Like all things in my life, I took a valuable lesson from that experience. Life lesson # 285 - humans are fickle creatures.

There's a story? jk just wait till you get to Smough and Ornstein then come back and tell me how fun it is ;)

I think you've got me interested in trying again. I have dabbled in the series and always just give up because I'm stubborn about looking stuff up or asking for help - When this hits 20 I think I'll jump back in.

Miyazaki said that he presented the story the way it is as an homage to western fantasy he read as a kid with a poor grasp of English, so there were always details he had to piece together himself.

That said, I have the opposite view of lore/story. The lore is tied up in obscure references and stuff said one time by an npc, and I just trust VaadiVidya for that stuff. "Prepare to Cry" is some amazing stuff. The story on the other hand I think is extremely straight forward. Most of it is explained in the intro video and by the first two npcs who send you out to ring the bells of awakening. This awakens Frampt who gives you your next goal of slaying the four great lords, which leads to the final battle with the king and the choice to rebuild the world or let it fade.

Hit me up anytime for DS, DSR, or DS3. DS2 is a fine game, but it is certainly the worst of the bunch. Capt Brannigan. Also, the Dark Souls club is pretty active with LFG posts.

I'm down for Virtua Fighter 5, definitely. Splinter Cell Conviction isn't a game I'd normally play, but for free I might give it a chance.
