Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

There's got to be more. They keep monkeying with the HTML on the marketplace, I've done a number of scans today, and it keeps coming back with different sets of items. I've read a little of the Xbox API documentation, and there's some marketplace stuff in there. I have to wonder if that's how StoreParser does it, possibly getting back clean JSON or XML rather than the randomness that the web store can give.

This sale is treasonous.  It's anathema to the ideals that make American capitalism the best economic system in history.  High crimes and savings misdemeanors all around!

Still waiting for a deal on Hellblade. The Knicks will win a title before that shit goes on sale.
Considering the game came out on Xbox only 3 months ago, I doubt it. Maybe for the now elusive and mythical Summer Sale that seems to have been delayed as much as Crackdown 3..... or by Black Friday.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is now free

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7Tm6282b_g

I would have liked to have gotten to play this version of Conviction. It seemed to be heading down the road of my dream Splinter Cell. I think it was scrapped because it would have been too similar to Assassin's Creed with the crowd blending mechanics

A kinda open world Hitman/AC/GTA/Splinter Cell that kinda went along with the novels (my idea, not the scrapped concept necessarily)

Finally now I can stop obsessing over clicking the link and checking the store for it to be free. GWG I was most looking forward to this month.

Yuck! Come on summer sale!

As for the winner of the SF games is #23!

Sooo bear489 you are the winner!

Hopefully the summer sale has something good to raffle off!

I knew there was a reason I didn’t cash in my MS Rewards points for XBL time yesterday (already set through late 2019) - just redeemed $10 worth of funny money, and add that to the $5 I got from the Mixer rebate a few weeks back, and Okami HD will be mine. Excited to actually play through it this time. Tried it briefly on the Wii, and tried the DS Okamiden a while back, but never got through either. This time I will though.

Beat Brothers and tried Clustertruck. I don't know if I'm too tired, just that bad or it is just that hard but I died a ton in the first world and got frustrated on level 6ish and stopped playing.

Picked up Halo 5 for $10, since I had $5 in rewards credit, and Monopoly Deal for $2, before the sale ends. Nothing in the coming sale for me anyway. Though the MUA Bundle for $15 is totally worth it if you didn't buy it the last time it was on sale.

injustice 2 legendary edition for $30 digital on amazon, anyone want to weigh in on whether this is a deal or not?

The xbox store is showing tonight's' deals as being available for 14 days. Is that normal?
Most of the non-Gold stuff falls into the anime sale this month, which have been running for two weeks at a time. Battlefield could just be doing its own thing. The Gold stuff appears to be normal timeframe.

Reading this article on Crackdown 3 makes me think this is a big factor into why Microsoft is getting 5 new studios. Being partway through a game and having someone buy a studio that was working on it has to piss you off. When you own the studio you don't have that risk.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-07-04-four-years-after-it-was-announced-crackdown-3-is-in-a-tough-spot
Apparently MS is unwilling to delay the game any further, so whether IT's 100% ready or no next year It's gonna come out. Thank god for Gamepass.

Just pre-ordered Shenmue 1+2!

I'm on the final stages of Witcher 3: Wine and Blood. I took to the expansion after the recent X update. This game is still amazing... though the combat is still frustrating. Still one of the best games this gen. Maybe the best. Only 6+ days of playing it later...

Very much so. I bought the Ultimate Edition on sale for about 40, and still had to shell out an extra 6 bucks for Darkseid. This way, you get all the characters, plus I think there are some other goodies too. If you like the game, definitely pick it up.

Debating whether to pick up SP for $20 on Amazon or wait for the gold version with DLC to go on sale.

Thanks for the Injustice 2 feedback, I will be picking that up for sure.

In for the MUA bundle.

For those who might have played all 4, how does Ultimate Alliance compared to XMen Legends?

Anybody have a good first Xbox one game recommendation? Alternatively, should I just got the Amazon Prime deal on Game pass (9 months for $60)?

I already have a PS4, just got an Xbox one X, and I'm looking to try either an Xbox exclusive or something that looks amazing on the X.

TIA!

game pass is a good option, Gears of war 4 is probably the best looking game on the system assuming you have HDR, and it's in gamepass

Is Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles any good?  I have a small amount of credit that is about to expire.  The little I played of Mirror's Edge when I had EA access didn't grab me.  Figure I should grab something instead of letting it expire.  I have till the 24th so can wait and see if there is something better next week I guess.

Is it on sale?
No. Just came out. I picked it up when it was $16 with GCU on Best Buy but they raised the price to $24 with GCU before it came out. Pretty expensive for an arcade game. I’m betting it will come down pretty quickly. But it is good!

It doesn't looks like anyone pointed it out but the Fortnite sales end tomorrow unlike the other deals with Gold.

Hard to say how worth it this mode is still going to be since it's still supposed to go free before the end of the year, but you still earn V-Bucks in it so I think I'll finally pick it up, and it's assumed that will go away when it goes free. This is the first sale in months.

I like how the spotlight sale part got "shortened" to light-sale. You can say that again Major. Went through and cleaned up my PS4 cart before that sale ends today. Deleted Final Fantasy X and X-2, pretty decent for $12 digital but I know I'll just never probably get to them, never even played X-2 before but alas....
I think a used disc for Final Fantasy is usually around this price all the time. I bought mine for about $14 like 6 months ago.

It really is time for a DLC sale. Like all 360 DLC is 50% or 75% off. Preferably 75%.
Since I knew this was never coming and own both systems I always just got my version of the games with good dlc for the ps3

main reason is the ps store often makes bundles or complete editions that one doesn't see on the xbox store and those bundles and complete have gone on sale more

the counter to that if someone has both systems would be it's WAY easier to get discounted xbox credit so although the dlc rarely goes on sale the easier access to discounted credit does make it more affordable in the long run

Last night I booted up my PS3 for the first time in 2-3 years. It got demoted when I got the X1S because I didn't have enough HDMI slots but I wanted to take it for a spin on the new TV. Nice to see digital stuff still there, especially PS1 games, but most of them really don't look good on the TCL.

More than anything, I'm reminded of why I prefer MS file management now. The PS3 is horrible at sorting games and getting a list of what you already own to reinstall stuff. Is the PS4 any better at content management? Because I think MS has done it pretty perfectly for the X1 OS.

Thanks! I'll go for game pass.
Game Pass also has a decent amount of exclusives (Halo 5, Gears Ultimate and the 360 games, the Fable 360 remaster) and some really great indie titles. Halo 5 also got a 4k update, and some of the 360 games that got X1X enhancements are on there (Gears 2 at least). Great way to sample how cool backwards compatibility is on X1, too.

More than anything, I'm reminded of why I prefer MS file management now. The PS3 is horrible at sorting games and getting a list of what you already own to reinstall stuff. Is the PS4 any better at content management? Because I think MS has done it pretty perfectly for the X1 OS.
I Mean, the PS4 does it better than the PS3 (it really had no where to go, but up), but going from PS4 to XBox One sorting system is a bit jarring mostly because it doesn't really do a good job of telling you what is and isn't downloaded compared to the XBox One. It's still a huge upgrade from the PS3 (once more, how can it not?) but still not perfect,

No not really at all, although the mainstream game media (trust me I'm not one of those types, but just this single issue burns me every time) will proclaim how much better the PS4 dashboard is than the Xbox Dashboard. I came back to a PS4 a couple months ago after having one at launch and a pretty sizable digital library of stuff and it's was a royal pain to find the stuff I still had from PSN Plus and other purchases. Ready to install for my digital library and when games get added in BC is so much nicer. Beyond that I think both dashboards are pretty much a draw, with the Party features of the Xbox being better as they have been forever.

And Target still hasn't cancelled my Red Dead Redemption 2 preorder from the Prime Day Glitch Day Coupon Madness Extravaganza. Now to hope it can survive the next three plus months so I can get it for hella cheap...

Caved and bought the Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundle and Okami HD. I loved the first MUA on the 360 but never got around to finishing it, so maybe I will get to on the One X. Okami I have always seen people talk about but I have never played it myself, so I'm semi-excited to try it finally.

Just keep in mind that Okami has a very slow start.

I've only dabbled with the PS4 at my best friend's house, it may be aesthetically better, but the average user isn't thinking about managing lots of digital content, years with of PS+ games, especially for people who have been using PSN for 10+ years. For disc based games and casual players, it may be functionally better, but the idea of not having a Ready to Install list sounds like insanity to me. Steam has been doing it forever, not sure why Sony can't figure it out.

ps4 menu is very casual friendly, it is essentially just one row of every application the system booted recently, but the xbox one is so much better for sorting lots of information, the new gamepass section is pretty cool, just got the update this morning
