Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I feel like a massive idiot right now.

I just realized that months ago when I bought The Witcher 3 for $25, I DIDN’T in fact buy the Complete Edition like I thought I was, but I bought just the base game :(

I remember waiting forever for it to go below $30, and I was so happy when it did. The fact that the Complete Edition and the base game are always the same price on sale never made sense to me. The worst part is I STILL HAVEN’T PLAYED IT.

so...street fighter iv and super street fighter iv are the same except the latter has more content? or is that not right?
No, they have different achievements, and different mechanics. There was a lot of ire caused by the fact that they were different games and SFIV couldn't be upgraded. Now SSFIV could be upgraded to SSFIV Arcade Edition and later Ultra Edition, but vanilla SFIV was left as a different game. It has some sweet intos, and music that also are unique.

For what it's worth at zero hour there is a demo up now for Shadow of War, i tried it tonight and it got me off purchasing a copy in the game. Wasn't bad I can just wait longer. Here at the last minute I just watched the trailer for The Evil Within 2 for $24 and wow mind blown, I think they got me on the hook for that one at $24.

I keep scrolling through the sales but I just can't bring myself to get anything, I either already have it or everything is just the same price as always. I would like to get Metro bundle digital but it's been cheaper, same with Rise of the Tomb Raider Season Pass, need Dead Rising bundle to drop 5 bucks too, prototype bundle for $10 as well

Looks like Hellblade will be my only purchase

Had the same issue with the 65 inch in Dark Souls, the points of reflection on armor that should probably be peak white would look blue. I'm sure it's some kind of HDR issue, maybe switching inputs and going back will reset it. I didn't notice it in the NHL 19 beta yesterday and I'm a full bearded mofo.
Took the tv back and got a Samsung NU7300 instead. No problem there. Wanted to get the new TCL but I don't want to run back and forth to Best Buy if I keep getting one with a bad panel.

And you have to unlock all the extra fighters in vanilla sf4.

All I got was the arkham knight season pass. I wanted the sniper games until I saw the reviews. I will continue to wait to see if the forza games show on game pass or gwg. I'mean pretty sure I've seen forza 7 cheaper than 29.99 before.
Fortnite save the world is rumored to be free in the near future so that will save me $20

It more than pays for itself. I got it for the $20 sale price and had racked up 1000 vbucks in a few days completing quests. That paid for the $10 battle pass without anything out of pocket. It also gives you two founder outfits and back blings for battle royale.

Is Virginia worth $4?
It's the worst walking sim I've ever played. Only get it if you want an incredibly easy 1000.

It's boring, there's not enough to interact with, and the story is so weird and vague that you can interpret it however you want, instead of the developer actually having something of substance to say. I'm just glad it was a very easy 1000, because that's the only way I can feel ok with my purchase.

I think this is the last one that hasn't been free before.

Almost finished Sherlock Holmes and was thinking about playing Resident Evil next up but not sure which to pick. I have all of them but except for Resident Evil 0, which is on Gamepass and Resident Evil 7.

I have only played Resident Evil 5.

I started playing fallout 4 on gamepass last month so I've been downloading these free Creation items each time they pop up.

Do they have free items every week? Anyone have a list of all the past free items? It doesn't seem like they have a ton of stuff on creation club so I was wondering if they have repeated any of the freebies there from the past.

Want more scares and newer graphics matter do 7.

Want more action / shooting that 5 offered (or want more co op) than play 6. It’s very unpopular because way more heavy on action. But my friends that want that are we’re not wanting the usual intensity of a RE game, liked it a lot.

Willing to be ok with less graphics and less shooting action, in order to appreciate classic, play 1. Controls are clunkier than 5, but it’s pretty cool to see the first time they (do something that comes back). Also 1 has more puzzles than 5/7/4

My recommendation might be 4. Little less shooting than 5 but more of the immersion / intensity. Also same director as RE1. I really enjoyed it.

I love this movie.

I played through the first 3 acts. The last act looks stupid although maybe less stupid then before the patch. A bunch (10 before the patch maybe less now?) of Siege missions. Obviously they put this crap in after the game should have been done to promote the loot boxes. Shadow Strike is a perk you unlock through the perks progression and takes a while to get. Kind of annoying as I enjoyed that in the first game.

I didn't get into Shadow of Mordor the first time I played but when I went back I really enjoyed it. Was looking forward to Shadow of War till the loot box nonsense. Not sure I will ever go back and finish it. Probably should go back and play more of the DLC in Shadow Of Mordor.

If you never play the game (as it should be) then it won't matter which version you bought.

The Happening
Thanks, that's what I thought, but I haven't seen it. Also, it seems to be universally hated so I had doubts it was a movie Ryu loved. I wonder if it's like The Village, Lady in the Water and Signs where the advertising marketed the movie as one type of movie when it was really another type. Signs was advertised as an alien invasion flick and you hardly saw the aliens. Village and LitW were advertised as scary horror movies and were not, just suspenseful mysteries.

Keep in mind it should get delisted in about a month so this may be the last chance to get this deal, especially at this price.

The M. Night movies usually have a twist to them- is this real or not? is this supernatural or normal? Granted, that's a gross simplification but all of his movies hang on a crux of his twist to them. And we're just going to imagine that 'After Earth' and 'The Last Airbender' never happened.

'The Happening' was weird. I should try to watch it again.
'Split' was amazing- fantastic acting by James McAvoy. Really impressive
'The Visit' was terrifying.

With the people talking about Mass Effect, this story is timed well:

https://twitter.com/GameSpot/status/1023870913715027968

However, they don't say much at all and they also talk about Dragon Age in the article.
The story there is 7 weeks old. I think it sounds like damage control. The OG Mass Effect team is completely on Anthem. Once the game releases, a significant chunk of this team will likely be stuck working on support for the life of the game, since EA is saying they're doing the smart thing and updating one game instead of releasing a new one every few years like Bungie.

The Dragon Age stuff sounds odd too. Supposedly Dragon Age 4 has been in production for a while now, presumably after Inquisition's final DLC. Sometime in the last 18 months development was rebooted, but then the majority of the team was moved onto Anthem sometime since then, possibly in January, to prevent a dumpster fire like Andromeda from the main studio. Hudson made a very damage control statement after the reboot was rumored to make it a "live game", saying this just means it's meant to be playable after the story is finished. This sounds like pretty bad phrasing if he just meant you can continue to explore and do quests. I'd guess it means a model similar to Final Fantasy XV where they keep doing small updates to keep interest up in more paid DLCs.

https://kotaku.com/bioware-doubles-down-on-anthem-as-pressure-mounts-1822380989

I think the reboot may have been what lead to creative director Mike Laidlaw to leave, as he left the company last October, but it seems even more likely that it caused the (probably) lead writer David Gaider as he left 18 months ago. Both of them had been a big part of Dragon Age since Origins.

https://www.polygon.com/2017/10/12/16467044/dragon-age-creative-director-writer-mike-laidlaw-leaves-bioware

https://www.polygon.com/2016/1/22/10814786/david-gaider-bioware-leaves-dragon-age-gay-character

Anyways, as long as Bioware continues to exist I don't think it's impossible for Mass Effect to return, and it would be years away because of both development cycle from Bioware's two teams (Anthem > Dragon Age 4 > new Mass Effect), and wanting plenty of time for people to forget Andromeda. It's just hard to say because of how EA has always been. If the actual Bioware had made Andromeda instead of Vancouver, I wouldn't ever expect to see the series again. I think the ONLY reason they didn't get stuck on Star Wars like the other big studios is EA seeing the money they can make if Anthem keeps people playing and buying like Destiny.

Is the complete pack for Forza worth it? It looks like the only new area is Storm Island and everything else is more cars.

I didn't end up getting much from the summer sale. Time to start banking credit for Black Friday I guess.

-Fortnite Save the World
-Pillars of Eternity
-Darkstalkers Resurrection

I didn't end up getting much from the summer sale. Time to start banking credit for Black Friday I guess.

-Fortnite Save the World
-Pillars of Eternity
-Darkstalkers Resurrection
Look at it this way, Storm Island by itself is usually $20, so it’s like getting all the cars for $4. And if you’re going for achievements, the Porsche car pack adds some.

My understanding of Double agent is that the 360 version is way worse then the OG xbox version, so no interest there, but Black list is supossed to be great

Really? I always assumed it was the other way around. I do know that the 360 version was developed/ported by the Ubisot Shanghai studio while the OG Xbox was done by Ubisot Montreal. Interesting. Time to look for comparison videos on youtube.

this is a good one if you like long-form reviews. i watched the whole thing about a month ago and it covers comparisons of games that were released on multiple generations of consoles, including the one in question above.

It oddly isn't the other way around as far as what one is considered better, but I actually think Xbox 360 Double Agent is pretty good. I like it better than Conviction, just finished it off all the achievements in the past year.
