Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

How ashamed should I be that I bought Avatar Burning Earth in the current sale? I've avoided it up until now, but those 1000 points finally proved too tempting.

I’m tempted to play 1-2 hours of each back logged title to get the changes in style. Just just watch cutscenes. Would that work?
Origins and odyssey I think you could play without any of the others previous titles. Both Origins and Odyssey play very differently than the older AC games and the "story" of those games barely exists in terms of an ongoing narrative so you aren't missing out by just playing the new ones. If you care at all about the outside the animus continuity, you would be better served to read a wiki imo.

The sad thing is, even if you played through the whole game and got your 1000 GS no one would believe you...not buying games for easy points anymore. Only getting games that really interest me, alongside the GWGs..still trying to finish most of them, but I know there are some I won't ever be able to finish...

My gamerscore has been stagnant for a while, too much Stardew Valley and Destiny. I need a jumpstart.

my rewards thing has been sitting at 9/10 days logged in for 4 days now

For Game Pass Quests, when they say increase your Gamerscore by 50 points, do they mean in that specific game?  Knocked out the Halo MCC Game Pass stuff but the GS part hasn't updated. Maybe I need more MCC gamerscore?

The Xbox quests were really hard. I couldn't stand playing those games for five minutes. That online progress of "Get Started" for all three of those terrible games better change to "Complete" or I just might flip a table.
I did the crossout one that was pretty bad and now I have the dumb game sitting there with zero score not sure if I'm gonna do trove, maybe livelock since I'll probably play it at some point

I played Crossout on the PC and actually had a lot of fun with it playing with friends. Sad to hear maybe the console version isn't as good.

interesting I feel like it had some potential, itjust seemed really clunky and I think the most real players I had in a match were two on the opposing team granted I was only level 3 so I didn't have many of the different matches unlocked on the map so maybe one of the other modes had a higher player count

Trove was a chore. Crossout was OK. Livelock was pretty fun for me. I might play that one a little longer.

I wish I knew exactly what counted as 30 minutes of "game play". For some of these, just starting the games and letting them idle for an hour while I do something else would be nice. I believe that worked for the awesome Free To Play challenge they had a while back where many of us won lots of xbox credits...

God I missed out on all those free credits I passed on that challenge just because I didn't feel like wasting my time on all those FTP games....joke was on me I guess

Anyone planning on treating themselves to a new game if they win the Forza code? I was going to get Forza anyways so I figured I’d put that money towards something else I’ve wanted for a while like Morrowind or...well, nothing else comes to mind but I’m sure I could think of something.

Did anyone else take advantage of the $99 GamePass with the Forza Keys? I did it like the first or second day it was available and haven’t gotten my keys yet. I know they said 7-10 days but it is coming up on 2 weeks now without the Forza keys. Just wanted to see if anyone else did this and has gotten the email.
You may need to contact Xbox support. They can be very helpful sometimes. Hope you get your codes soon.

Forza Horizon 4 sounds terrifying now that I realize every damn car has it's own upgradeable skill tree.
Agreed. Luckily for me, I'm the kind of person who finds one or two favorite cars and then plays the whole game with them. For people who like to use a lot of different cars, I can see this being somewhat grindy to get all the perks unlocked. But then it also depends on what the perks are. In FH3, I never bothered unlocking perks that I didn't think were useful.

Well the Remedy announcement turned out to be an announcement that they're attending Comic-Con. I got hyped because the Max Payne games are high up on my BC list (along with the MGS HD Collection I get hopeful for every time we get a Konami game). Back to waiting it out.

Really? All that teasing to announce they'll be at the NYCC? I was hoping for a Control release date or maybe the Max Payne games going BC. Oh well.

Wait, is this real? Felt like a joke but then I didn’t see any other announcement (other than a bunch of people pretending to win)
It was a joke. If you go to the bottom of the page to see the users reading the topic, there are occasionally appearances by scanners from Google and Facebook. At the time the post was made, one of the Google scanners was on the page. Still waiting on the full list of people that liked the giveaway post.

If you were anything like me, your console was already in use and couldn't be left to sit idle for hours or days anyway.

How dare you. You hurt my feeling. My last one. :whistle2:(
These big giveaways sure do bring out the best in people don't they?

What’s funny to me is that they had perks at the overall level in FH3 and I still don’t think they had that big of an impact on gameplay anyway.

ie, I didn’t focus on them much.

I forgot all about the perks for a good while until I was searching through the menus for the settings to see if there was any 4k/HDR stuff to set.

Ah, what a relief. I don’t actually see any of that stuff. I spend almost 100% of my cag time on mobile and I don’t see those things or even user’s sigs. It’s a very clean presentation, but sometimes I guess it leads to missing some stuff

I enjoyed my ~1 hour playtime of crossout, but haven't been able to bring myself to play Trove.
Livelock is a blast imo, just wish i had local co-op. My brother and his son watched me play it and we collectively lamented such a sorely lacking feature. Seems like a perfect couch co-op game too.

I am frustrated with the internet right now.

Remedy should not tease something as stupid as a Comic-Con appearance.  That is NOT a big announcement.  Don't put Max Payne iconography up and use a blanket statement of a "big announcement;" of course fans jumped to the wrong conclusions!

Then there are the fans themselves.  The Max Payne games have been on the 360 Store for years, just not in all regions.  This was non-news, but Reddit treated it as news.  And I, sadly, helped spread it.  I feel ashamed for bringing it to CAG.  Sorry.

Stupid + Inaccurate + Hyped = a needlessly-bad start to a Thursday.

I typically stuck with certain cars I preferred driving depending on the type of races. Integra for Asian themed, Camero for both modern and classic muscle, Focus for hatchback, usually an Audi for AWD and Lamborghini, BMW M3 or M4, Mercedes AMG for European. There are others that were just fun to drive in as well.

I'm so disappointed with the max Payne thing. I didn't actually expect the games to be be bc but to be something as obscure as a comic Con panel is just dumb

From what they said on the Giant Bombcast this week, you'll be able to earn perk points for all the cars you drive. If you're like me, in FH3, I have everything maxed out and still have a whole stash sitting there unused. The only thing they're good for, at this point, is to make your next car upgrade free. So you'll probably max out what cars you actually drive pretty easily.

Hey guys (and gal), I backlogged the $7.49 Red Dead Redemption sale before it became BC. I meant to make time for it this month, but FarCry 5 ended up being better than I imagined. I have less than 30 days left before my $40 Target copy of RDR2 arrives. I hear it's a prequel of sorts. On a scale from 1-10, can you please place the need of going through the original campaign first?

I already have Forza Horizon 4 on Pre-Order from Aamzon but it was just the standard version. I am really hoping I win so I can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition. I could then cancel Forza and order Red Dead Redemption 2

Not sure it required but its a awesome game and you should make time for it. Since its a Prequel and not a sequel not sure its really a requirement to play it first.

I dont want it, but I was curious, is the game still widely regarded as trash?
I have the itch to play, but dont have any of the expansions and wasnt sure if it was worth it buy.
TL;DR - Yes, the game is in a great place right now.

Short story long:

With the release of 2.0 on 8/28 and then the release of the Forsaken expansion the week after, the game has made changes to many things that have been met with (mostly) glowing praise (you just can't please everyone). We are three weeks into the new expansion and personally I am finding so many things to do it's almost overwhelming. I think after I get a certain Light Level I can start picking and choosing the activities I want to do, but now there is definitely no shortage of content and it is all quite good.

TL;DR - Yes, the game is in a great place right now.
NOT if you are a new-non dlc owning player. I got to level 20 in 5 hours and barely into the original campaign. Now I am level capped. They have sped up the early leveling a ridiculous amount. Sure technically I can still play the game and finish the story, but since the level-up light grind is a major component of the game, being locked at 20 makes it feel pointless.

Short story long:
With the release of 2.0 on 8/28 and then the release of the Forsaken expansion the week after, the game has made changes to many things that have been met with (mostly) glowing praise (you just can't please everyone). Hmmm. I bought the base game and played a ton at launch. Had all classes to 305 LL and did the raid a few times. Just hesitant to buy all 3 dlc packs, as I wanted to "vote with my wallet" by not buying them. Its just Destiny satisified a particular gaming itch to perfectly.

Thanks for the info. Gonna think on it, since I can eother get that or Forza 4.

Well the season 6 Fortnite launch is a bust on Xbox. The game crashes when you start it for most people. As you can imagine, kids everywhere are demanding free stuff and proclaiming their utter hatred towards Epic for this minor inconvenience on the first day.
