Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Well the season 6 Fortnite launch is a bust on Xbox. The game crashes when you start it for most people. As you can imagine, kids everywhere are demanding free stuff and proclaiming their utter hatred towards Epic for this minor inconvenience on the first day.
As a 31 year old at work mumbles to himself that these kids should be focusing on their damn education...

NOT if you are a new-non dlc owning player. I got to level 20 in 5 hours and barely into the original campaign. Now I am level capped. They have sped up the early leveling a ridiculous amount. Sure technically I can still play the game and finish the story, but since the level-up light grind is a major component of the game, being locked at 20 makes it feel pointless.
That's true, but that was also true in Destiny 1. There are certain activities that you can't do because your level is too low and you would be one-shot or you don't have the requisite expansion. The first expansion was not very well received, the second expansion (and game patches in parallel) made things better, but with the release of Forsaken and 2.0 (FYI the game is currently at patch level 2.0.3.1, so Bungie has been really active with updates lately) D2 is in a place that has brought many people that once played back in and they are enjoying it.

This week is a good time to get caught up with the expansions. The expansion pass is on sale for $10 right now (50% off), and the Forsaken expansion is $40. There used to be a page for Forsaken + Annual Pass, but I don't see it anymore outside of buying the Complete Collection for $100 (kind of lame IMO).

Hmmm. I bought the base game and played a ton at launch. Had all classes to 305 LL and did the raid a few times. Just hesitant to buy all 3 dlc packs, as I wanted to "vote with my wallet" by not buying them. Its just Destiny satisified a particular gaming itch to perfectly.

Thanks for the info. Gonna think on it, since I can eother get that or Forza 4.
Getting back into the game after such a long absence is definitely going to be jarring. If you haven't played since the August 28 2.0 update, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. After that you can look into investing more money into the game. Here is a quick high-level list from the product page as to what is included in the new expansion (which requires the old expansions):

- Two New Destinations: The Tangled Shore and The Dreaming City
- A Brand-New Raid
- Introducing Gambit, a 4v4 Competitive PvE Mode
- Wield New Powers with Nine Additional Supers
- Collect New Exotic Weapons, Armor, and Gear
- All-New Weapon Archetype, Legendary Bow
- New Story Missions, Adventures, Destination Activities, and more

And unrelated, but the game looks great in 4K + HDR10. :)

Hope it stays down forever.

Well consider ne sold on trying Destiny 2 again. I'lI'll get the expansion pass to at least try all that and see if it tickles my interest enough to get Forsaken over Forza Horizon 4.
Thank you very much for all the info!

Totally agree. There's so much to do right now and Forsaken has me coming back to D2 daily again. Gambit is now my favorite PVP activity and the Dreaming City map is fun to explore. The new strikes are awesome too. 4k HDR looks great on PC and the Xbox One X is not that far behind in details.

Anyone else play on PC? I'm also on Xbox but PC has been getting all the play time since the second expansion.

I own the base game on PC but I haven't played more than ten minutes of it. If Bungie (Sony, really, probably) ever allows cross-save then I will without hesitation go out and buy all the expansions for PC that I have on Xbox. I have a very old gaming PC, but it still plays the game super smooth (well, probably not in Escalation Protocol...)

Just downloaded and played my first match. Good gracious did I forget how pretty this game is. Needed to give you a second thanks lol. Should I start at Curse of Osaris first or Warmind? Not sure the order im terms of story content.

The stories in those expansions are pretty independent so you can run them in your preferred order, but the Power Level of the enemies goes up from CoO to Warmind so you will probably have a better time if you do CoO first and then Warmind.

Will buying the expansion pass for destiny 2 raise the level cap?I know it will for LL but I'm more concerned at staying caped at level 20 and not receiving more exp.

I'm loving the season 6 Cram mode for StW. Dont play BR so dont care that its down lol. The rewards increase is so wonderful. Finally leveling up schematics and heroes Ive wanted to try but didnt feel like grinding for. Plus the gold drop rate is insane. Annndddd MegaBASE is on sale for 3200 gold. Jackpot!

Sorry if you were taloing about BR. I just love StW so much.

Don't have Forsaken, but I have the expansion pass now. Currently level 21, so yes it seems it does. Not sure what the level cap is though?

Level cap goes up by 5 (above the 20 max with just the vanilla game) for each of the DLCs, if bought separately. With both DLCs, level cap is 30. With Forsaken, level cap goes up to 50.

I just can't bring myself to support D2/Bungie any more. It's ridiculous that it took them 3 expansions that cost a total of $80 to bring the game to the state it should have launched in, AFTER they already did the exact same thing with Destiny 1.

Instead I ended up going all in on Warframe. There is just so much content since they've built on the foundation for 5 years. I just hit 80 hours and I think I'm about halfway through the main quest progression. The only real flaw I see with it is that it essentially requires wiki or YouTube use to grasp a lot of mechanics. Many things a barely explained if they are at all, and the in game descriptions and tutorials often leave out important details. The fact that there is so much to this game is extremely impressive considering it is free to play and doesn't force microtransactions on you. In about the same amount of time, if you wanted to stay up to date with Destiny and Destiny 2, you would have spent $310, with another $30 coming up for the Annual Pass, while still having the balls to have a bunch of microtransactions available. This also includes at least 2 years of mediocre to poorly received content (D1 launch to Taken King and D2 launch to Forsaken)

The outrage at D2's microtransactions is really out of place. Almost all of the content available via microtransactions is available through regular gameplay (minus a few exotic ornaments and emotes) and ALL of it is cosmetic or has non-unique benefits (except for the one raid ghost, damn do I want that). People clamoring that the game is P2W are woefully ignorant, unless they are talking about having to buy the expansions to stay competitive with the rest of the community at which point I say, "DUH." I imagine we'll have more of the same moaning when the various pieces of the Annual Pass come out.

I can't defend the "mediocre content" statement though, there's no way around that. I have hope that going forward we are done with that mess and have a high-quality experience for the rest of D2 and on into D3.

This. Absolute why I jumped onto the Warframe train. Can't believe a f2p game has kept me coming back every day since the beginning of this year. Still doesn't feel like a chore 8+ months later

I feel similarly to how Six Minute Whistle does. I really hate some of the paths Bungie took to get D2 to where it is and the more I think about it, the more frustrated I become wondering why D2 launched in such a vastly different state than the late stages of D1. I dropped $100 on the digital deluxe for D2 and stopped playing before the first expansion came out. I’ve since gone through and done the stories for CoO and Warmind but not much else on top of those - a little of the Warmind grind but nothing for CoO.

What really bugs me is that the D1 grind was just that, a steady grind that you knew about, could prep and plan a team for, etc. D2 didn’t have the same feel at launch, and now it seems like any grind-worthy stuff they put in is just major forced grinding to the extreme (always artificially increasing playtime, which seems to be Bungie’s thing these days). I heard about the Whisper of the Worm quest, which sounded like a major throwback nod with all its Vault of Glass connections, and then I read the steps for it and saw that it requires playing the same mission about 10 times over the course of 3-4 weeks just to get the gun to its best possible level. No thanks. Yes, it’s similar to raid runs in D1, but maybe I’ve changed my gaming habits a bit since my King’s Fall days because that just sounds awful.

Just my two cents on the Destiny discussion. Gonna go back and play some good Bungie fare tonight to finish up the GamePass quest in MCC.

I can't speak for SIX min, but I didn't read his comment as directed towards microtransactions. I share his sentiments and mine are directed towards the fact that they keep releasing unfinished products. For it to have happened in D1 is forgivable; it was their first attempt at this type of game. Fine. But for D2 to launch, after a year long delay, without a ton of the improvements that had already existed in D1 is just ridiculous (yes, I read the forums; I understand they pivoted and remade D2 from scratch, made by a different team that didn't talk to the live team working on D1, etc., etc.). Curse of Osiris was a laughable DLC. I can't remember the exact time, but my friends and I completed the story and some of the new stuff in a ridiculously short amount of time, all within one afternoon (minus lair, of course). Warmind was slightly better but still woefully lacking and just as short. Preordering D2 with the DLC pass was the single worst gaming decision my friends and I have ever made.

I still keep up to date on the game and Forsaken, but I've given up completely in terms of playing D2. I'm just waiting to see what they announce for D3 at this point.

This. Absolute why I jumped onto the Warframe train. Can't believe a f2p game has kept me coming back every day since the beginning of this year. Still doesn't feel like a chore 8+ months later
I am prepared to be humiliated for this, but I have tried playing Warframe several times. Honestly, I cant figure out what the hell I am doing. I basically kept playing the same missions because I didn't understand how to progress.

Maybe someday I will try again. Never thought to research the game first on wikis and such lol.

My comment is a reply to his "while still having the balls to have a bunch of microtransactions available" comment, like the microtransactions are salt in the open wound that is everything else wrong with Destiny. IMO they are a complete non-issue and not worth complaining about. In fairness, most of the complaining aimed at microtransactions has died down. Also, the Annual Pass is an additional cost, but Bungie has committed to as many free-to-all content updates as the paid contents available in the Annual Pass, so it's not like they are ignoring people that don't spend all the money they can on the game.

If you can somehow play Forsaken content without spending the mint required to purchase it, I highly recommend it as it may change your mind about the state of D2. CoO had some neat things in it but was mostly a flop and Warmind added some more neat content, but the real meat is in Forsaken. That is the first time that Bungie and the guest-starring devs had an opportunity to address the community's concerns en masse and apply them to the game. The result of all their efforts is most definitely worth your attention.

When I got my X in November, I downloaded a bunch of F2P games (as my library was almost nonexistant at the time being my first One) and Warframe was one of them. I got through the tutorial area, but as soon as I saw I was getting thrown in to a world with real people I bailed, and haven't been back. I'd like to get into it again, but there is no way in hell that will be happening anytime soon. Fallout 76 BETA drops on October 23rd!!!!!! AAAAHHHHH!!!!!! :D/

People’s ‘outrage’ over Destiny MTs has nothing to do woth P2W, and I don’t believe the poster above was even going that way.

People are upset over the MTs because A; that shit used to be included in the full game B; You’ve already given Bungie a ton of money for base game(s) and expansions so getting nickel and dimed along the way for more stuff that used to be part and parcel sucks C; Those MTs were supposed to fund live support when first introduced in Destiny 1, amd they barely gave anything to justify it, a few minor live events and then they asked for more money for Rise of Iron. D; Now with Destiny two they made even more stuff that was regularly dropped in game in to mts, they gave up all pretenses of paying for live team support, Hello a season pass for an expansion for stuff they were supposedly using MTs to fund, and it just seems to get worse and worse.

Yes they are cosmetic, yes with a ton of hours of play you can get a lot of them, no they aren’t being used for what they told us originally, and lastly think of the amount of money given by each player to Bungie/Acti over the years, even if you dollar average down based on price drops etc and it is kind of insulting.

So no the MTs don’t really impact game play, unless you don’t want to grind endlessly each week to get your pithy free pulls, but they sure feel slimy considering where Destiny started and where it has gone and the cahones of Bungo to keep asking for more money to help pay for their screw ups.

One couldn’t be blamed for wondering if they went this route on purpose, I mean people fell over themselves to give Bungie money when they fixed Destiny 1, so why wouldn’t they try that approach again. Yeah its spinfoil hat territory but you know what? Fool me once shame on me, but I sure as heck won’t get fooled again.

I can't help but think that Activision might be pressuring Bungie to keep microtransactions prevalent in the game, but honestly no one outside of a small subset of people under NDA know that for sure. Either way, it is odd how irrelevant it makes another in-game vendor (Amanda Holliday) on a regular basis. At this point I would consider Eververse a permanent part of the game, for better or worse. All I know is that when I bought Forsaken + Annual Pass I was gifted 1000 Silver and I've gone this long without needing any of that currency so I doubt I will spend it unless something comes along that is ONLY available via silver purchase that I have to have. Fortunately, the default skin for Whisper of the Worm looks better to me than either of the ornaments Eververse offers. :)

Once the giveaway winner is announced, we will all console ourselves with the consolation prize of playing Forza Horizon 4 on gamepass day 1 without a $60 purchase.

I mean seriously, gamepass is a great deal. I never really played much forza, but my brother in law loves it. I can play with him day one without paying full price on the game!

Edit: After re-reading this all I can say is that I'm a CAG.

Anytime I click the link to the destiny 2 expansion it says “not sold seperately” do they seriously make you rebuy the bundle with the game or do you have to buy it from inside the game?

Really, I do feel they reigned in the whole Silver and Silverdust economy to a semi-decent state now, but it wasn't great at launch and they were bad for most of the time D1 had them. I still think they're a bit too in your face, and I don't like having to interact with the same vendor for some of the normal non-paid rewards either. When they first came out with Silver they spun it as a way to add "content" for "free", but this was quickly undermined by the fact that the majority of the items from those events were paid only, and they just kind of gave up on that idea by the time Rise of Iron came around.

I don't like the sound of the Annual Pass so far. It basically has the content of the smaller expansions minus Bungie needing to spend money on cinematics, combined with the free events of the past that have mostly already existed for years. Like The Dawning and Sparrow Racing League.

On a different note, if anyone wants help with WarFrame just add me. I'm not super knowledgeable but know the basics of the game. One other resource I failed to mention was other players. I've found a decent amount of helpful people in voice chat and in-game chat. On your little icon you see a number, this is the mastery rank and basically if you see someone higher that 4 or 5 they probably can at least answer a few questions, as to raise this you have to level up gear and do missions, which takes a while. I'm rank 6, with those 80 hours of playtime I mentioned.

I haven't kept up with any of this Max Payne stuff except for what's been said in here, but is it possible that this is just the first step in building up the hype to where they could possibly announce what you're hoping for at the comic-con?

Yeah no doubt Acti wants more return on that investment and huge contract that Bungo should never had signed.

Shame that Holliday was made irrelevant.

I also only ever spent my free silver. It was so silly. Even though there were things I wanted I figured best to stick to your guns.

I don't know what the conversation is about, but I'm just gonna say Forsaken is damn amazing and the most addictive thing I've played in a long time. I agree that the game should've been like this from jump, but....fuckit. It was worth the $20 I paid for it. Thank you, Bing.

yeah Warframe is awesome. You start the relic grind yet? I love grinding out warframes and going into trade chat to sell/trade with other players. Then using that platinum to buy anything, even the stuff from the game store like skins. Chroma Prime came out the other day and I got 500plat from selling his parts because he was new, it's addicting.

Also one big thing people miss is that if you bullet jump while looking either straight up or down, you jump really high. I didn't even learn that till like 50 hours in.

Preordering D2 with the DLC pass was the single worst gaming decision my friends and I have ever made.
A couple buddies and I all preordered ME:Abortion about a week before it came out. I barely managed to finish the tutorial and I don't think any of us put more than 10 hours into the multiplayer, in contrast to the dozens to hundreds invested in ME3 MP.

Speaking of hours invested, I'm like 3 hours into Hollow Knight and I haven't unlocked the dodge yet. I feel like I'm missing something. How does a game have "2D Dark Souls" written all over it without any blocking or dodging to speak of? I better find that damn dash move soon...

A couple months ago I finally realized I was doing Overwatch all wrong. I would save up 1000 gold and buy the skin I wanted, how stupid of me. For 1000 gold you can buy 40 sprays or voice lines. I have purchased all voice lines now and am getting close to having all the standard sprays, now I usually get an emote and/or skin in just about every loot box. Just today I got 2 gold skins back to back.
Is that how loot boxes work in Overwatch? I honestly had no idea so I'm definitely going to take your advice and buy up all the cheap stuff and get the stuff that matters in loot boxes. Just in time for the Halloween event too! Thanks :D

My gamerscore has been stagnant for a while, too much Stardew Valley and Destiny. I need a jumpstart.
Played through Stardew Valley on Steam already got me really hooked, bought the game fpr the Xbone nontheless again...haven't won a single achievement yet lol... but I'm currently playing it's dark brother Graveyard Keeper via Gamespass...really fun game..if you like eating burgers made of human flesh =P
