Just in case someone misunderstood me, I'm in no way opposing to off-topic banter as I have participated countless times (especially when it comes to multiplatform games, movies, TV shows, sports and wrestling). Sure, sometimes it gets really silly (like yesterday with the green beans stuff) but I simply scroll down and move on.

My only gripe is when people actively come here to discuss games that have dedicated threads like Spider-Man and/or BOTW to name a couple. Sorry, but those don't belong here. Imagine going to the PS4 General Discussion Thread to talk about FH4...... yeah that won't fly there (hell, even mentioning Xbox games in the Collector's Edition thread is like frowned upon). But in reality, that doesn't happen often.

But I personally enjoyed the BC talk some fellow CAGers were having earlier today about the FF13 games. Or the back-and-forth about Crackdown 3 looking great to some, terrible to others. Sure, that also counts as "off-topic" as is not deals-related but at least it fits here.

I wasn't trying to "thread police" and wouldn't even consider reporting anyone to the mods (they usually show up here - only - when the thread gets political and causes everything to go into meltdown). That was all and I'll leave it at that.

P.S: If something I post reads/sounds "off", that's because English is not my native language.

Did yours take forever? When my disc drive wasn't working they had it for more then 3 weeks. When my Switch was overheating, Nintendo had it back to me the same week with new parts installed.
 
Anyone else get sent the season pass for Mutant Football League for free? I tried the game when it was in beta. Was sent a code for the season pass yesterday. Now just have to wait for the base game to go on sale so I can add it to my backlog and never touch it. Am I doing this CAG thing right?

Yes, but if they ever release an HD remastered version for next gen systems you will also need to buy that and never play it.

I think this thread is how it is because of how CAG is structured. We in the Xbox thread like to discuss things, on or off-topic, with the people in this thread. CAG is a popular site with a LOT of different demographics mixing together because it covers all of gaming and everyone on Earth likes to save money whenever possible. Because of that, I think we basically become mini-communities in the mainstay threads, much like ResetEra/NeoGAF. I know the Nintendo, Sony, and Steam threads all have different flavors. If someone wants to kill the the atmosphere of this thread I guess they could, but it's been like this for YEARS now, under the multiple shepherds we've had that sort of guide the thread with the OP and weekly sales updates, and CAG/mods only crack down if it gets ridiculously bad or someone brings up politics. If someone really doesn't like the off-topic they can block pretty much everyone but Bloomy, CodeTrader, and a couple others. If someone just doesn't want that little star on the main page lighting up unless it is for deals, they're better off looking for the threads at r/XboxOne or r/GreatXboxDeals, or posts on the gaming news sites I guess.

I'd like to think most of use are at least friendly with each other, or we would not hear about the personal stuff that comes up from time to time, or if we did it wouldn't get a page of responses of encouragement and 20+ likes.

I contribute to off-topic topics from time to time, but I also tend to post a lot of updates on games or news that does pertain to Xbox as well. If someone is here strictly for deals, I would guess they don't want to sift through a page of posts talking about the balance changes to Overwatch or how good/shit Fallout 76 is, but I don't see gaming discussion going away on a gaming website, even if top 5 burgers gets killed eventually.

If you already own them on PS3, it doesn't sound like you'll get much out of the BC update right now unless you have a One X. Maybe a slightly smoother framerate, and added v-sync (not sure it's needed here though). The way this was updated I supposed improved FMV could be in the base Xbox One version, but the native resolution of the rest of the game would still be lower than PS3. If you plan on upgrading in the future it might be worth buying the physical versions now since they will probably get a BC tax if they didn't already. I tend to grab most stuff on Xbox now given the choice with the assumption that BC is here to stay permanently, but I prefer to play on it in general anyways.

I don't know really, they didn't specifically talk about this during the Blizzcon stuff, but they usually won't talk about a specific event until it is very close to happening. Last we heard during the September update, they said they were focusing on Hero balancing, quality of life changes, and a mystery "social feature" coming "not in 2018", which is why there haven't been any major changes to the events since before the summer games. I guess it'll stay like this unless they get massive backlash or something.

Console peeps have to re-download the whole game again. They did some game code wizardry for client efficientcy and it required a fresh install.
 
They're going to play the old E3 demo of Halo 2 on stream tomorrow. That could be pretty cool. Hopefully they do stuff a little differently or something. In the past it sounded like it was fairly unstable if not played pretty much the exact way the original live demo was.

Halo Reach was when it hit BC. It was the first BC game that needed a post-BC patch in order to actually make it playable.

I got it too. I launched it once but never actually played the trial that was available when it was in Game Preview. I got something for "playing" the Vermintide II beta that was in Game Preview a few months ago, though I never actually launched it. I'm sure I'll want to get MFL, but the backlog. And the imminent release of Fallout 76.

 
I also got a code for season pass of Mutant League. Figure I would keep it for GWG or Gamepass because I enjoyed my time with that game.

I just got my codes for Realm Royale. Forgot that shit was ever coming out after playing Blackout for the last month. Was supposed to be out in August for testing lol.

I haven't heard a peep about this game in a while. I think they did some system change people didn't like, as the dev tends to do with their games. Seems like it would have been smarter to keep it part of Paladins like the original plan was.

Player count tanked about as hard as possible. This console launch is going to be so DOA that it'll probably make the upcoming PS4 release of PUBG look great.

If you have an X your looking at near 4k for the games and better FPS. I don't know what resolution the cutscenes will look at but they will look quite good. If you don't have a X that's a tough call, but realize the 360 versions will probably last as long as MS allows BC where as the PS3 versions you have to boot up that old PS3.

Fable II BC is pretty terrible TBH. I originally played through part of it (before it got too hard because I was stubborn and kept using the CE weapon from Halo that is basically good for 1 hour before you need to use a better weapon) when it first released, and it played just fine. I started it over a couple months ago on my X, and it was awful. Lots of texture issues, but there was a really bad audio bug that made it sound....actually it was so bad I blocked it from memory. It made dialogue basically impossible to hear, that's all I can remember. My girlfriend played it on her S at the same time, and she too had texture issues, and the same sound issue, but for every time she encountered an issue, I encountered 10+ on my X. Oh, Staying connected to live was basically impossible for both of us. We kept trying, because we could see each other's current location in our own game when connected, making it easy for us to navigate to specific areas.

Trying to remember, but I'm pretty sure Meowth learned to speak from listening to humans before he joined Jesse and James in the first series of cartoons.
Pretty sure there may have been a couple mythical or legendaries that may have known how to speak later as well, but I only watch those sporadically when my kids watch. I watched the first season religiously while doing homework for nursing school back in the early 00's

Actually thank you for posting this. I missed the window to submit a claim because I am lazy. Saw that other thread coming up but didn't want to look in to be reminded how much I missed out on. $10 lost I can be okay with.

The thing that makes this a forum is people caring enough about the people who visit it to key them into deals and savings. If all someone is looking for is the deals there are plenty of places they could go. Hell, Major Nelson posts them all a few hours after they go up here. No comments or OT on his site. The OT is what makes this forum worth visiting. Getting opinions about the games on sale and the deals and little glimpses into the lives of the others here is what makes a place like this stand out among the dozens of just deal sites or blogs.

I’ve been lurking this thread since before I even made an account(right after this thread caused me to lose my Xbox in the Oman wars, it’s ok guys they never ban for this stuff! smh) and if I wanted to read straight deal posts 100% of the time I would just go to MN blog like I used to before I came here.

I’ve gotten a lot of other info and deals from this thread that didn’t even pertain to Xbox and I enjoy the jokes otherwise I would only check here on Monday nights.

Didn’t get the mutant league football pass I played the trial the first time it went on sale so hopefully I get it, the last thing I got from Xbox messages was a rental for Uncle Drew from gamepass lol.

Oh man I may have to watch this. And yeah I remember hearing the same thing about that demo. Maybe they’ll break it. Can you imagine if they release it into MCC? Holy crap that’d be awesome.

I just got one of the new Minecraft S bundles, and I want to make it my primary system now. Do I need to do anything to deactivate my Xbox Live profile from my old VCR model? And no, I don't have an external hard drive.

Settings-Account-Remove accounts? Never done that before so I don't know if that works. If you don't game share and want to make your new Xbox your Home Xbox go to Settings-Personalization-My Home Xbox.

I go the gamepass September one on October 17th, uh, not sure what to tell you. The last time I didn't receive messages from XBox live I had to remove and re-add my account to the console and boom everything hit.

you can also go to xbox.com->Xbox settings->Manage devices.

*After you make the new system the home system*, and remove the old xbox from your account permanently.

I did the external transfer and wiped the old xbox (no, not with a cloth) then went to xbox.com when everything was up and running on the new X.

 
To people following or care to:

The fires near my place subsided and they eventually lifted the mandatory evacuation orders. We made it back home and several of the exits leading up ours were still closed. Calabasas & Malibu are still burning.

Been cleaning the house since. Wash every piece of cloth, wipe every piece of furniture and clean every dish / utensil.

And, I have to fly out for work tomorrow and will be away from my XBox for 6 weeks. Need to get my 6 yr old to help me with stuff.

The thread has always been loosely related to XBox and strongly inclined towards people / life. It's all off-topic right now.

Anyways, I meant to buy the FF games every time they were on sale, which wasnt often. Hope MS has a BC game sale between now & XMas. Else, my only hope is the greedy GS. *sigh*
 
Krishna, good to hear you’re able to get back home. I dealt with the Thomas Fire a year ago, and these fires are freaking my out one of my kids, like he’s afraid of the fire coming back to the house even though these current fires are only visible at the top of the mountains.


I got my FFXIII series out to get them installed, and the first one seems like a relic from a bygone era with its 44 page manual and three discs. Looked back at my TA stats and realized I haven’t played the first game since a couple months after it came out. Looks like I’m gonna have to start from scratch on the series.

My 6 yr old was thoroughly fascinated by it and kept checking the news with me. I intend to take him around and show him the damage just so he gets the perspective. I feel sorry for the folks who lost their lifes worth; but glad that there wasnt loss of life - at least not on the scale of the devastation; nor when compared to the Chico (N.Cali) fire.
 
Any word on if Halo 3 ODST will be on sale?  I know it's only $4.99 but if it is going to be cheaper, I'd rather just wait.  I can get the physical for  only a couple bucks but it's not upscaled to 4K like the digital version is.

 
I think you're confusing a couple of things. $4.99 ODST is the add-on for the Halo Master Chief Collection, putting the original 360 disc in won't give you access to it. The regular 360 version stand alone is $14.99 on xbox.com. It can be played through backwards compatibility on the Xbox One but True Achievements didn't have it listed as any kind of enhancements.
