Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Kingdoms of Amalur!! Heck yeah!!

https://twitter.com/majornelson/status/1068187922485006337?s=21
Yay. Glad I kept my physical copy of this game. There are a few used copies at local GameStops for $4.99 but that price probably won't last long.

It will take GS at least 1 day to update price, probably longer. I picked up FFXIII and Castelvania same or next day after prior announcements.

Grabbed KoA from Gamestop before they jack up the price. I always loved that game but never finished it. Granted I have no idea when I will get to finish it again. Hm. I may even still have the guide sitting around here.

Wow we did it guys! We finally did it! KoA if back compat!!

This is my list:

Asura's Wrath
Blur
Max Payne 3
Woot! My list is getting shorter:

DMC 4

Afro Samurai

Bionic Commando Rearmed

Batman Arkham games (City mostly)

Project Gotham Racing 4

I know... all are a bit of a stretch, but with KoA coming to BC despite all the issues surrounding that game, I'll keep holding out hope!

So stoked for Kingdom of Amalur to go BC- grabbed the digital with the hopes it would.  Now I have to actually go back and load my save file to beat the thing.

I think my only BC wishlist now is

  • Max Payne 1-3
  • Asura's Wrath
  • Mortal Kombat
  • Soul Calibur IV & V
  • Marvel vs Capcom 2

My top 5 included Kingdoms of Amalur, not anymore. The other four games are:

  • Mortal Kombat.
  • Remember Me.
  • Binary Domain.
  • Hunted: The Demon's Forge (mainly because I bought new almost for peanuts and it was developed by InXile)
Was tempted to include Alpha Protocol but I just couldn't get into it when I played it back in 2012.

I just did a system update and after it was done, I noticed that something was downloading in the background (I have updates and installs turned off by default so this looked suspicious).  I go to Games and Apps and see that it's downloading something called Microsoft Rewards on Xbox.  Any news on this?  It wouldn't let me pause or cancel the download so I yanked out the ethernet cord.  That was the only way to stop it.

Is this the Rewards thing you guys have been talking about?  I thought it was on the web.

There is a web version and a Xbox dashboard app, saw a pic of the new web version yesterday but now can't find it. Looks totally different, something with getting "badges' but didn't see any details on what that's going to be.

Probably, but I'm surprised it did it automatically. The X1 MS Rewards app gives you extra ways to earn points in addition to the web based route - punchcards, surveys, checking featured games, etc.

It seems to have also updated the both the original and new Xbox Avatars.

edit - p0rn0saur ninja'd me. I also saw the badges and it says I earned 5 already but don't know what their purpose is for.

I've bought remasters for many of the games I was hoping would come to BC. The upgrades are usually worthwhile but X enhanced 360 games are shrinking the gap. With that said, I have 12 original Xbox games sitting on the shelf and 38 digital/physical Xbox 360 games that are not BC yet. My most wanted are:

Original Xbox

Burnout 3

Fatal Frame 1 & 2

GTA III & Vice

Silent Hill 2 & 4

Shenmue II was on the list but the HD remasters are awesome!

Xbox 360

Eternal Sonata

Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Mortal Kombat 9, Arcade Collection and UMK3

Resident Evil Code Veronica

Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles 1989 and Turtles in Time

X-men Arcade

Man I just beat Kingdoms of Amalur in May of this year...I don't usually have interest in BC games but I would've played that via BC.  At least I got the original experience I guess.

Good call on pulling the plug. You do not want MS Rewards. It appears as a simple and easy way to get some free space bucks, but you'll find it takes more than the few minutes a day folks here talk about. You'll soon find yourself thinking about rewards points throughout the day, and it may even impact your work or personal relationships. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

Stoked for Amalur BC with the rest of you guys. Pretty fun and cool game, but pretty sure my save was back on my offline modded 360. S'ok, as I screwed up that playthrough anyways. In case you're interested, zones have enemies scaled to the level you enter it at. This normally keeps the difficulty on par with your level, but I had the bright idea of sprinting ahead to unlock all the backpack upgrades and ended up locking half the game world at very low levels which made it hard to earn much exp.

Anthem website won't load on my phone, between the site getting hammered and the spotty reception I get at work I'll probably have to wait till I get home. Can't wait to see the game that was worth sinking the Mass Effect ship for... Its gonna have the best faces you guys, omg. #worth

Man Aliens vs Predator is expensive as shit online. GameStop wants $24.99 and it may go up with the BC tax. Hope it goes on sale someday on XBL.

Anybody need a 14 day Xbox Gold trial? I went to Dreamhack Atlanta for the Halo World Championships a couple weeks ago and have 4 to give. Quote this if you need one.
I need one please.

AVP was $9.99 at the beginning of the month.
Yeah and according to Store Parser it's been the only time it's ever been on sale, I almost bit on it because I thought it was so unusual for it to show up. Figured it might be a harder one to go BC though just cause of the licenses involved. It's only $19.99 digital so still cheaper than Gamestop.

Probably won't be able to sign up for the Anthem Alpha since I have to log in to an EA Account I never made but apparently exists because my little brother played an EA sports game on my 360 10+ years ago. I don't even know what email address would have been used, and I'd bet money I don't have access to it any more. EA's account system is fucked up.

Finally did my first GamePass punch card. Took forever to register the achievements but I’m 5000 points richer! :)

What’s ironic is that the Aliens vs Predator movies are on sale this week on MS.

My Anthem signup problem: "HTTP Error 503.2 - Service Unavailable"

So by the time I can login... it will be over.

So yesterday I just recovered my EA account after weeks of going back and forth with EA support. I didn't realize my Xbox gamertag was already tied to to an EA account until I tried to play Battlefield 1 on Xbox One for the first time, when I was surprised to see an old e-mail address popup that I haven't had access to for over 8 years (my original Xbox Live e-mail). I already had a more recent EA account that I was using on PC and PS4.

I opened cases with EA chat support explaining the situation, and they always redirected me to an account recovery form that asked for a bunch of information, but I could never enter enough correctly to prove that I owned the account. I talked to support over the phone, and had no luck either.

During the process I learned a few tricks:

If you just want to get online and play an EA game but can't because it's asking for a password, download the FIFA 19 demo (on Xbox One). When you start it, it will sign into EA servers without a password. When you start another EA game (in my example, Madden 18), it will go online without asking for a password.

The FIFA 19 demo will also tell you the e-mail address for your account, and the creation date of the EA account. Both of those are asked for on the account recovery form. Another question account recovery asks for is in game stats on your account, including Ultimate Team. Since you can go online now, you can create ultimate teams in any EA games you have (from EA Access for example) and have that information available as further proof.

On the EA Help site (help.ea.com), click login. One of the options for logging in is by using Xbox Live. Click that, and you will actually be able to login to the EA account's help system even if you don't know the password for the account. You won't be able to make changes to the account (you are asked for the account password if you try), but you will see your EA ID and you can open a help case. Make a new case for not being able to access your account. You will be connected to EA chat support. Explain the situation, they will most likely give you the account recovery form link.

Fill in the account recovery form as accurately as you can and submit. If you're lucky, they'll advance you in the recovery process. If not, they'll say that they couldn't verify ownership of the account. I failed this multiple times. On the help page, go to My Cases and resume your case. Here's where I finally got further: I re-explained that I had access to the Xbox Live account tied to the EA account, but couldn't access the EA account. If they haven't offered, ask for them to send an account recovery code message to your Xbox Live gamertag. Make sure you can accept messages from anybody on Xbox Live. They sent a code to my Xbox Live, I repeated it back to them in the case, and they FINALLY offered to change the e-mail address on the account for me (make sure you give them an e-mail address that isn't tied to an EA account already on the recovery form).

When I was finally able to reset the password on the account and get in, I could see why account recovery was so difficult - I didn't enter my full name or my real birthday. So even though I kept entering that information, it wasn't matching up with anything in the account.

I would like to have one instead an account for Xbox and another for PS4/PC. Supposedly you can merge two EA accounts, but you might lose all game progress on one or both accounts, so I'm not going to bother.

Anyway, hopefully that information helps somebody.
