  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

How is The Town of Light? Looks iffy, but I enjoy psychological games.
meh. A few jump scares, some creepy atmosphere, but hampered by walking that is too slow and glitchy drab graphics (pop-in, low-res, shades of brown and gray). It's more a memoir of someone's experience in a mental institution in a sad way rather than an overly scary or creepy way (though there are a few moments). I got it used at GS, and would only recommend if you can find it cheap.

At $8 I decided to give it a chance (instead of going to see a movie). Currently playing it now. It's interesting so far. There are multiple paths, so you'll be able to start at any chapter you've completed and discover alternate chapters. Otherwise the gameplay is typical walking simulator with collectables along the way. My wife was playing RDR2 and she was only partially paying attention to my game, at one point she looked over while there were naked women everywhere talking about being punished and asked if I was playing a woman torture game. Can't decide if I would recommend or not though. It's going to be different for everyone.

Good call on pulling the plug. You do not want MS Rewards. It appears as a simple and easy way to get some free space bucks, but you'll find it takes more than the few minutes a day folks here talk about. You'll soon find yourself thinking about rewards points throughout the day, and it may even impact your work or personal relationships. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
Hi my name is Brett and I’m on a 306 day streak! Doing my Mobile searches is the first thing I think about when I wake up even if my kids are crying to get out of their cribs. I do my desktop searches at work when I’m on the clock. I have multiple accounts including one for my wife that she doesn’t even know about and it donates the 5000 points a month to my main account. I’m also thinking about opening up accts in my kids names to earn more points even though it will affect their futures with bing rewards. I am proud to join you guys here at Bing Rewards anonymous!

The Gardens Between is a perfect example of why I think gamepass is excellent. I heard nothing but good things about this game and I played it to completion yesterday in two small sittings, 3 hours to complete. It is a wonderfully crafted puzzle game experience that I really enjoyed, but in my opinion not really worth the asking price of $19.99. A perfect game for gamepass.

Ughhh, wtf. That is (IMHO) the only consistently really good Marvel show on Netlix, in part due to the great casting. I'm about to finish season 3 and have really enjoyed it. It's also really true to the character. This sucks.
All of the Netflix Marvel cancellations are probably because of Disney's streaming service coming out next year. However, they've already stated that Disney+ will be family friendly content only, so little chance that the show resumes there. Daredevil S3 was great. At least we get 1 more season of The Punisher before they all get the axe.

Looks like I better binge Daredevil. I saw the first episode a week ago and wasn't impressed, but I heard it gets better.

Unlike Halo 3: ODST. Here I am playing it when about 10 minutes later I realized I'm replaying the same area. If it wasn't for the familiar cutscene, I would have never known thanks to the repetitive environment.  Turns out I didn't load the right file from my hard drive.

This also reminds me how I hate the lack of save points in Halo games. "Checkpoint" doesn't mean anything unless I "save and exit" my progress.  I've lost so much game time because of this.

Isn't Disney rolling out their own streaming service soon?
Yes, but, as others stated, it’s supposed to be all “family friendly” stuff. I wouldn’t call Daredevil exactly family friendly. And something like The Punisher absolutely is not.

If any of these make it to Disney’s new service, it will probably be watered down crap.

I thought they said something about the character staying around for future projects, but upon second read it only says the literal character, not this incarnation of him played by Charlie Cox. I get the feeling they tried to renegotiate and maybe consolidate the shows down to Heroes for Hire or something else, but it must not have gone through. Out of the 3 now cancelled shows only DD really was left at a semi-decent stopping point for the character. I could see them trying to wrap up Luke Cage on Jessica Jones, but adding Iron Fist's characters seems like it'd be much more of a stretch. JJ is pretty deep in production too so unless they knew this was coming they probably won't do anything differently. Punisher was pretty disconnected last season so who knows there.

It's a bummer for sure. While I am interested in the announced Loki and especially Scarlet Witch shows, I still would like to see different new characters explored with the TV shows. It seems they might have figured out what to do with Star Wars finally, since the Mandalorian is about a new character, and wrapping up Clone Wars makes a lot of sense to draw in a large section of fans.

Then again Marvel also first said their Netflix shows would only be slightly above PG-13 in how graphic it's violence would get, but it got into R rated territory several times so who knows.

It is curious what will happen with Hulu with Disney picking up Fox's percentage and the plans for the Disney+ service.  Is ESPN still going to have their own thing, too?  Curious how the streaming landscape in general could get reshaped in the coming year or so.

The Filmstruck streaming service shut down last night.  It was a partnership between Turner Classic Movies and The Criterion Collection to stream niche films (classic, foreign, independent, the kind of stuff Criterion published on DVD/Blu-ray, plus stuff in Warner's back catalog).  When AT&T bought Time Warner, they decided to end the service in a corporate restructuring.  DramaFever, a streaming site for Korean dramas, also got axed.  (Learned about that from a coworker whose girlfriend watched it.)  Similar to everything else, I had a big backlog of stuff to watch on there, though a bunch of it I had physically.  Got an email from Criterion that they'll be launching their own standalone service early next year, though they also said they'll be a part of Warner's upcoming service later next year.  So ... do I go with Criterion or wait for Warner?  I signed up to be a Criterion charter subscriber, which doesn't require me to actually subscribe when the service goes live (no payment info given), but will be cheaper than signing up later.

But how will Warner incorporate Criterion?  Will the DC Universe service get rolled in or stay separate?  (Going back to the Disney / Hulu / ESPN questions.)  Will they get ... bundled?  Going back to the old cable way of things, except now the cable providers are cut out of the revenue stream as middlemen?  Afraid of being cut out is most likely why AT&T bought Time Warner and why Comcast bought NBC Universal and also put in bids for Fox.

Spent yesterday evening watching as much of the stuff they had for the original King Kong.  Watched the movie with one of the commentaries, and the documentaries were the ones from the '05 DVD that Peter Jackson put together when he was working on his remake, so I have them somewhere in the physical backlog.  I have the Criterion laser disc somewhere, so, as long as it hasn't succumbed to bit rot, I still have that commentary.  Though hopefully it all comes back to streaming between the Criterion and/or Warner services.

Daredevil does start slow, and some of the origin flashbacks feel excessive, but they do an outstanding job developing the character and really nailing the dichotomy of him as a lawyer with religious and moral values and as a vigilante who finds himself consistently compromising those values in the name of doing what's right. It's one of the few shows with a really great antagonist, Fisk/Kingpin gets just as much development and when the two finally engage, it's awesome.

Season 2 wasn't as good, but his interactions with Punisher are straight out of the comics. Season 3 is wonderful. I'm about to finish it, and seeing the news today makes it kinda bittersweet to know that however it ends, it won't continue.

Sorry if it's been discussed but what are some good Xbox 360 games that are NOT backwards compatible (yet?). Specifically looking for exclusives or better on 360 (than ps3) if possible.

Agreed, DD season 3 was good, glad they are cancelling the others, they got worse, but they definitively better have punisher season 2.

I Thought I read somewhere that Warner is going to be doing a tiered streaming plan. So my best bet is it will probably be it's own thing and just be included in a giant package if you want that with something else. That's what I assume at least.

I'm kinda curious how Netflix will survive knowing that everyone is going for the same business plan as them, but also taking away further content from them. That and them being over billions of dollars in debt trying to get new content on a constant basis and I don't know how they can increase revenue.

I'm interested in how the criterion stuff will work out. I was bummed when it left hulu. There was no way to use filmstruck on xbox so hopefully Warner makes an app. It all depends on the price, I'm not really looking to sign up for a third streaming service.

Still don’t get why I’m getting that message to update my consoles location everytime I open the ms rewards app on my Xbox, anybody else still getting that?

I’ve notuced I haven’t been getting any of the +5 offers the past few days either I wonder if it’s because of that.

Yea, only 1 once per Xbox now.
I only have 1 account anyway, my wife does my sons searches on his account but she don’t do all the extra shit anyway lol.

Plus I’m gonna keep the month of ea access anyway in case ms decides to consider it marketplace theft or some bullshit.

Edit - just realized I said anyway 3 times I probably should’ve got more sleep anyway.

Probably, but I'm surprised it did it automatically. The X1 MS Rewards app gives you extra ways to earn points in addition to the web based route - punchcards, surveys, checking featured games, etc.

It seems to have also updated the both the original and new Xbox Avatars.

edit - p0rn0saur ninja'd me. I also saw the badges and it says I earned 5 already but don't know what their purpose is for.
One is for a 999 day streak. As if the tracker will be stable for 3 plus years!

Basically, my actual setup. Have my acct logged in through Edge, my wife through Chrome and my son through Firefox. Ended up with a ton of free merch from Microsoft Store Black Friday. A pair of Stealth 700's, wireless ear buds and an XB1 controller ... all paid in points. Still have $30.00 credit left over, too. And starting to amass points again. 3 Xmas presents for under the tree - one for each kid and one for the wife, courtesy of space bucks.

It is curious what will happen with Hulu with Disney picking up Fox's percentage and the plans for the Disney+ service. Is ESPN still going to have their own thing, too? Curious how the streaming landscape in general could get reshaped in the coming year or so.

..........
Your mentioned concerns are what blows about these streaming services. They all exist at the whim of these big corporations that don't really care about the content they support so things can change at the drop of a hat. Niche stuff like the Korean drama thing you mentioned are the most volatile. Like Sony bought Funimation and that just led to a huge split from Funi's former deal with Cruncyroll. And then you have everyone wanting to make their own stuff, often without enough new content to supported (like CBS's service).

Sorry if it's been discussed but what are some good Xbox 360 games that are NOT backwards compatible (yet?). Specifically looking for exclusives or better on 360 (than ps3) if possible.
If you want to get technical, the majority of multiplatform games are better on 360 than PS3. The Cell Processor in the PS3 was difficult to work with. Even Japanese games like Bayonetta ran better on Xbox. The main exceptions are where disc space was a concern, like the low quality video in Final Fantasy XIII.

As far as actual games, I don't think there are a lot of good exclusives left that haven't made it to BC. Looked up a list and these are the few that I think are a worth checking out.

-Beautiful Katamari

-Dead or Alive 4

-Ninety-Nine Nights 1 and 2

-Ninja Gaiden II ("upgraded" Sigma version on PS3, but it's actually worse overall due to missing content)

-Otomedius Excellent

-There may also be some Kinect games but I can't personally recommend any of those

-There are a few mediocre to bad games that might be worth looking into if you like their genre. Coming to mind are Tenchu Z, Ninja Blade, and Onechanbara.

-There are a few Japanese exclusive shump games, but without BC you actually need a Japanese or modded 360 to play most of them.

JRPGs like The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery, though I would exactly call these good, and Last Remnant is coming to PS4. The standout games to get would probably be Nier and Tales of Vesperia, though Vesperia has a remaster coming to Xbox soon.

There are plenty of fighting games that aren't exclusive but haven't been made BC or re-released yet. Like Mortal Kombat 9, Soul Calibur 4 and 5, most of Capcom's XBLA re-releases like Darkstalkers, Persona 4 Arena.

Personal non-exclusive recommendations

-Nier

-Soul Calibur IV and V

-Lollipop Chainsaw

I Thought I read somewhere that Warner is going to be doing a tiered streaming plan. So my best bet is it will probably be it's own thing and just be included in a giant package if you want that with something else. That's what I assume at least.

I'm kinda curious how Netflix will survive knowing that everyone is going for the same business plan as them, but also taking away further content from them. That and them being over billions of dollars in debt trying to get new content on a constant basis and I don't know how they can increase revenue.
Looks like the news about the tiers came out yesterday.

"WarnerMedia plans an entry-level streaming service focused on movies, a second tier with original programming and more films and a bundle tier with content from the first two plus classic films, comedy and children’s programming."

Not clear if Criterion fits into the first or third tier, though probably the third.

No mention how DC Universe could be part of that. Though with it currently $8 / month, $75 / year, if it's incorporated into one of the tiers, you basically have a price floor.

Also forgot to mention HBO in my prior post, which is also under the Warner umbrella. The articles I read didn't give the impression that HBO would be folded in, either.

I'm sure Netflix saw the writing on the wall years ago with the dry up of content licensing, which is why they made such a big push with original content. We'll see if the amount of debt they have ever comes back to bite them.

I'm interested in how the criterion stuff will work out. I was bummed when it left hulu. There was no way to use filmstruck on xbox so hopefully Warner makes an app. It all depends on the price, I'm not really looking to sign up for a third streaming service.
Yeah, the lack of console apps for FilmStruck stunk, particularly when they kept saying it was coming. Never tried watching anything using the XB1 Edge browser, I just watched on my laptop.

I read about the AT&T tiered bundled and how it would relate to possible things Disney would do especially since their getting Fox and upping their ownership of Hulu. I can see Disney doing a Disney and Marvel kid friendly bundle then stretch out to include Hulu where more mature Marvel stuff would be then they’d probably bundle in ESPN + as well. If Hulu ends up doing more Marvel shows now that DD, Cage and all have been canceled , I think they’ll far well below the Netflix ones. One of my favorite comic series was the Runaways and Hulu did a horrific job. If I had never read the initial runs of Runaways, that show would have turned me off of ever picking up one of the books. I’ll wait and see how they shake out. These streaming things have morphed over time so much.

i think dead or alive 3 or ultimate would be pretty damn sweet for BC. those would look great as 4k upgrades.

Borderlands 3 may be announced during the Game Awards. Randy Pitchford has been posting some cryptic stuff on Twitter for the past couple days:

that's not that bad, isn't like 3.33 a month we can expect now? that's $40 a year, I don't think I have seen the 12 month subs get that low or sub $40 in a long time. Maybe they were for BF.
I figure many get it free from rewards but it is a pretty good deal

don't tease me

Is the ea access/bfv punch card exploit still working?
I was hoping to take advantage of this but I don't think I would use EA Access for anything else. Do they have any trial cards for the service? I heard they are sometimes given with physical games but I checked all mine and there was nothing.

Managed to finish up the GP quest on my accounts today. I had to play Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 4 to get the final two checks on my main. For my alt I had to play Gears of War 4 and Wolfenstein: The New Order for the last 2 checks. Happy that it's over now and I must say that completing (it) was nearly as harsh as the Points Crusader quest.

Trial and 1 month codes exist, occasionally you may get lucky and find one posted on the xbox one subreddit
