Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I think it is but I personally have found FandangoNow to be the worst of the streaming services. Very inconsistent streaming, no Atmos and no Dolby Vision (though the latter isn’t on X1 for anything but Netflix anyway).

On Xbox One, if a movie is 4K on Vudu, I’d suggest that app.

Back on gaming, looks like Just Cause 4 is getting mediocre reviews. Was hoping this one would knock it out of the park. On well, probably still pick up my copy since I preordered with GCU and it had that $10 reward.
I kind of figured that would be the case with the reviews. I had the Gold Edition pre-ordered at Gamestop and got a $10 off coupon for it. Used that today when I picked it up. I'll just enjoy it for what it's worth and chalk it up to a lesson learned.

If I remember correctly JC3 didn't exactly get good reviews when it was released either. Some reviewers had said it was buggy and incomplete(?).

Did anybody else order price error from Best Buy on the digital Just Cause 4 Gold Edition for XBO? They did not send me a code, wondering if I should contact them or wait.

Tried to see if any past purchase are showing up as BC after the post about X-Com, but my install tab is just endlessly spinning and showing nothing after five minutes.

Welcome to the Xbox dashboard.... priority one on next hardware Phil, get it done

For what it's worth picked up a SSD 512gb for $55 and a $8 enclosure over these holiday sales and I've been pretty impressed with the results so far on the Xbox. Finished up the Final Fantasy 15 Comrades DLC before they shut down the servers and if anyone has played that mode they know the loading times are like "go take the dog for a walk, take out the garbage, make a sandwich, eat the sandwich" between basically doing anything and the difference with the SSD is like night and day. Also seeing pretty substantial time differences in Forza Horizon 4 and RDR2. Loving it.

Thinking about picking up LA Noire remastered. Can someone tell me if the remastered version inserts the DLC missions into their proper place within the story, or are they still separate missions away from the campaign?
Yes, the dlc missions are in the main campaign in the correct order. You wouldn't even know they were dlc unless you played the vanilla version.

Buggy at release and LAG city. Really long load times. I got it used a day after it came out on PS4. Got through the story and unloaded it. Lots of fun when it wasn't lagging like crazy. Or if you died took forever to load/respawn. I loved JC2 and was so looking forward to JC3. I did play it again recently on my XBox One X and it played decently enough and load times weren't horrible. I even played through the DLC.

But no way was I getting JC4 at launch. I figured it would be a buggy mess. Was hoping to be proven wrong. Also the
tornado shit
looks stupid as shit to me. Will wait and see how it reviews (mostly performance) and wait for it to be much cheaper before I give it a play.

TrueAchievements 12 Days of Xmas Day 2

2 Bonus Contents

Unlock 2 achievements from Title Updates or DLC

Looks like the easier ones will be from episodic games (like Tales from the Borderlands, where Chapter 1 is considered the base game, and everything Chapter 2 and onwards is considered DLC).

Does the "keep my games up to date" feature on XB1 actually work for anyone? I hadn't ever used it due to having a data cap but now that those days are over, I've gone in and checked all the right boxes (and unchecked the one about turning storage off since I use external drives) and it still does absolutely nothing.

Works fine for me unless my hard drive or external drive is full. I think you can change the default install location between hard drive and external.

looks like we're all eating BK for lunch today:

The Darkness for $4 is an easy buy, even if it never goes BC. I've only played the sequel, and not recently.

OT:

Got my Spider-Man PS4 bundle and took it for a spin yesterday. Runs well, it's a very good game, but a little underwhelming since it doesn't do anything brand-new for an open-world superhero game, but it's definitely the perfection of the formula.

It's always worked for me, unless I was having internet problems at home. Try doing a hard reset to make sure the settings are in place from a cold boot.

Thanks for the HU, another game to join Destiny 2 on my SSD.

The Darkness is another one from my list I wasn't sure we'd get BC. Very happy.

is the darkness a multiplayer game only? or is there single player?
It's a story-heavy FPS which happens to have MP. I didn't even realize it had MP until I bought it yesterday.

older game when they actually focused a lot on the single player campaigns and just had the mp a an extra unlike the reverse now

I loved it all the years ago when I was playing it. Might night have aged well but at the time I was into it

The Darkness is fun, your character is essentially possessed by a demon so you get some pretty interesting powers to help you fight.

Duke Nukem Forever goes on sale yet again but the DLC remains regular price. Who on earth is paying $10 for Duke Nukem DLC when the game is only $4?
this is how it is for a lot of 360 games. Base games on sale a lot and dlc almost never on sale

I've waited many years for certain dlc discounts. Sometimes it happens and in some cases I'm still waitin'

How is The Bureau? I remember being really interested when it was first announced and looked like it played like bioshock. Then it did a 180 and completely changed before release and just remember I was not interested in it anymore.

It also did an interesting thing where you really felt like your character got more powerful as the game went on by not sending progressively bigger enemies after you. Where other games would add new enemy types to go along with the new power you just got, this game just sent increasing numbers of the same goons, so by the end of the game you're chewing through bad guys without a problem, and you feel like a monster.

ehhhhhh

is my review

I believe that was also the review by a lot of people that review games as well

Imo you don't miss anything if you skip it but if you're a digital hoarder/collector it's cheap so if you got change go for it

It's budget Mass Effect. With dialogue wheel and everything, but the choices really don't matter except for one at the very end. The combat itself lacks the polish or variety of ME as well. Not bad, but pretty forgettable.

Friendly reminder no mail tomorrow because George Bush died over the weekend and so now we gotta commemorate it days later by not having mail.

Thankfully Amazon delivery got my back for needless random purchases being delivered to my house still.

nothing says respect like delaying christmas cards and paychecks a day

Unless you're essential personnel with a federal agency, gf is making double pay tomorrow
and then taking me out to dinner.

You damn one percenters.

And more so I want my damn $20 white XBox controller to get here that I've been waiting two weeks for now.

Ah, the Darkness, the first Xbox 360 game I ever played. Absolutely fantastic game, I loved every second of it, even the weird flashback missions.
