Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I just got my first Xbox and I'm super excited. One series I've alway wanted to play is Gears of War. I saw there was a promotion where if you bought GoW 4 it came with codes for the first 3 GoW games. Is that promotion still available? Is there better way to purchase the whole series?
All of them are on Gamepass.

If you're new to Gears you may want to skip Judgement. Story-wise it is worth a playthrough but they changed up a few major gameplay things and it didn't go over that well. Multiplayer is dead on pretty much everything but 4. Gears 3 usually only has two playlists populated enough to play anymore.
I must be the only person who liked Judgement. I had a ton of fun with it and played dozens (probably hundreds of hours of Overrun). I never got the hate for the game.

Amazon seems to have them used pretty cheap too.

Need some router guru help. I have a at&t homebase zte 700a for home internet right now I have more devices then free ports for them to connect by wifi. If I get a archer c5400, can I run the homebase to the archer by cable and work? I'm getting mixed answers when googling.
All you probably need an inexpensive switch. Any reason you want another router?

https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Ethernet-Optimization-Unmanaged-TL-SG105/dp/B00A128S24/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1544033731&sr=8-4&keywords=5+port+switch+gigabit

Or are you only allowed to have like 8 devices or something connected via Wifi to that AT&T router?

ETA: looks like only 10 wifi devices.. (page 25)

https://www.zteusa.com/media/wysiwyg/att-homebase/AT_T_Home_Base_User_Manual_English_-_PDF_-_3.48MB_.pdf

Typically with normal routers you can disable the wireless on them. Connect another wireless router lan port to lan port and use the wifi on that device. You would probably also need to disable the DHCP server on the AT&T device. They probably are limiting it there. Either way you would not want two DHCP servers anyway.

No idea if it will work on that specific AT&T device/service as they purposely seem to want to restrict you to 10 devices.

Unsurprising, but I just want to remind everyone how much Gamestop sucks, especially their online distribution. I made all of my Black Friday purchases on their site within two hours of it going live (couldn't be any sooner because they hadn't updated prices on time). My God of War order is reading N/A, which on previous orders has meant it will go unfulfilled and today is the last day I should have received it by their shipping deadlines.

Also, I ordered a $70 rebate xbox 360, which arrived, but I am unable to collect the rebate because I bought it 11/21 (the night their BF sale started), and they only honor rebates for xboxes purchased 11/22-11/23. No rebate means no deal, so I'll be returning it.

I tried to contact Customer Service yesterday but sat on hold for 2 hours and had to hang up at that point. Thanks Gamestop!

Thanks for the help, I have 14 devices that need wifi and the base keeps dropping devices all the time.

I have two wireless routers setup like this and it works ok. The one thing I missed in my previous post is if you turn off DHCP on the AT&T router you would have to assign an IP to the TPlink router. So if the AT&T router is 192.168.0.1 you would probably want to assign 192.168.0.2 to the TPLink.

If that doesn't work you could just plug the LAN cable from the AT&T router into the wan port of the TPLink. Have the TPLink on a different network (like 192.168.1.x). However you start running into a condition/situation called double NAT which will likely cause issues for XBox Live and maybe other stuff.

Feel free to PM me if you want.

Why do people still keep buying games full price at launch? It's obvious you'l get screwed. How many precedents before everyone realizes the big gaming publishers dont give a shit, they'll just keep churning out unfinished games as long as people go buy them. You're basically paying a premium price to be a beta tester. Their laughing their pants off.

Because not everyone is CAG and not everyone has a large backlog (crazy, right?) and some people choose to support the developers or buy into the hype, especially when a game makes majority of it's income from within the first month or so. That or some people want to be on the ground floor when a game launches if it's a competitive game. There are many reasons, in the end it's their money though so who cares?

I will admit I purchased Soul Calibur VI digital at full price- mainly because it was cheaper to game share with my family rather then purchase 2 copies and then ship one.

Also, I wanted to make crazy fighters and have gotten very comfortable with going digital this generation

Pre-ordered with some sort of discount though, right? I've got it at BB with GCU (20%), which also comes with the $10 cert, and it's the Special Edition so I'm getting a discount on the Pro controller. Not at all full price.

I am looking in to a mesh router system for this exact reason. We just have more devices than we did a couple years ago and I’d like to add some wifi security cameras and doorbell camera.

I am torn between Orbi and Eero but once I get a system I will turn off wifi on my cable modem and just use the new router.

I can recommend

  • Google Wifi for their mesh network- really helps in delivering constant connectivity to my X1X when playing. All of my devices are wireless and perform much better then they did before
  • Google Home if you're interesting in setting up a smart home- smart plugs for automating lights, playing music through a home/apartment, and turning tv's on/off with voice via chromecast
  • Nest is handy as a doorbell camera

I have set up 3 Eero systems.  Pretty pricey but work really well.  Some day I will probably pick up Google Wifi though.  I think probably good enough and much cheaper.  $250 currently at Amazon for the 3 pack.

As long as the Google devices aren't their older TP-Link or Asus OnHub routers that is. I know you guys are not talking about them, but a word of caution for anyone that has the idea to use those instead. I had two of the TP-Link routers when the mesh WiFi was enabled for them. I excitedly built my mesh WiFi and after a few months it started misbehaving in interesting and infuriating (and unfixable) ways. But before they lost their mind, my WiFi was super strong and reliable.

I hope the SoulCalibur VI deal is good after it skipped the Black Friday sales. I had to see all those deals on the physical copies while the Digital versions pointed and laughed at me like Nelson.

Gently ripped from its mother's breast in the Freebies thread:

OFF: 50% discount on Battlefield V if you played Battlefield 1, 4, Hardline earlier:

I fail to see how Rockstar has screwed anyone who purchased RDR2, unless you count inevitable price drops as screwing early adopters. I see it as an opportunity cost, you can get in on the ground floor but its gonna cost you more upfront. I knew RDR2 sales wouldn't beat 2-for-1 via game sharing and I had a lot of fun this weekend trying the online out with some friends.

BFV was more about getting experienced with the maps and guns, and I probably could have played something else and waited for xmas sales. But man, I just love me some battlefield. Endless entertainment from watching buildings blow apart and rain debris on teammates and opponents alike.

I load up on space bucks when I can at a discount, so buying a game at full price is still 20% off + game sharing. I do try to hold off on games for sales, but I'd been hearing about Dead Cells for a year and was psyched to have it come to console.

Sometimes I want to support a smaller dev studio, sometimes I want to get a competitive game before everyone playing goes pro, and sometimes I figure there isn't going to be a sale unless I want to wait until after my friends are done playing. Sometimes I want be a god damn cheap ass and will wait a year for a game to drop $20 before I'll bite.

Damn and I did a few of them on a Forza Horizon 3 Blizzard Mountain DLC yesterday.
Yea, initially this was my reaction too...

Almost an extension of yesterday's, since most DLC achievements are rare.
...but then I did some other easy DLC achievements that were labelled rare as well.

Enjoying this year's challenges so far, couple of new ones, so far only 1 retread.

As far as buying a game at launch goes.. it 100% depends on that game.

RDR2 was going to be day one no matter what.
There are games i will pay full retail for, and others i will not. Now once my GCU dies next year.. my backlog will be getting a lot more attention and much fewer games will be purchased at launch.
Not saying none will... but fewer.

As someone else mentioned, I would say go the Game Pass route. If you play more than a few games at a time or like having the variety, there’s a ton of different options on there, plus all the Gears games, as well as Halo games, and any future MS-published titles will be on there on release day. There should still be deals going for first time subscribers such as $1 for a month, or your system may have come with a 14 day trial. It goes on sale a lot, too, and if you come here people are always posting the deals when they show up, so you won’t have to worry about paying the full $9.99 per month most of the time.
Welcome!
ditto. I would say for a first time Xbox owner game pass would be the deal of the century.

Yeah, I knew people would come up with Rockstar games, the exception along with CD Project Red. How many of the big companies are putting out 1 game every 6 years?

I'm all for people supporting indie games at launch or even before launch, though. Hell, independent developpers usually have their games running better in beta than triple AAA games at launch.

About being a fan: I'm a HUGE fan of Fallout since the 90's, I've never bought Bethesda games at launch.

Just a lame 20% off on SoulCalibur VI Deluxe Edition. Damn you Xbox.

Their Black Friday ad clearly stated that this deal was Thursday-Friday only. Since you bought it on Wednesday, I don't know what else you expected to happen.

If anyone was dealing with Bethesda Support for anything like a refund or the canvas bag thing, you may need to rev up that credit card cancellation number. Other people were posting on their forum and Twitter saying they had the same view as this guy, and he posted proof himself.

"Hi guys! First time Reddit poster here. I am a gleeful vault dweller as yourselves and as of this moment I am receiving every single one of your support tickets on my Bethesda account. Mostly it's your receipts for you power armor set requesting a new bag. These receipts contain all your info. Your email and home address and the card you used to buy this extremely glitched game. I can see the problems you are having with the game, yes I'm having them too. And I know a few of you want a refund that Bethesda has said can't happen. I can update your ticket for you, if you'd like. And close it! How fun is that?"

Game Awards date night

:xb1: Madden NFL 19: Hall of Fame Edition - $40.00 - 50% off
What award is Madden up for? Most annual releases with the least innovation?

Dead Cells is totally worth $17, take it from all of us that picked it up at $20 with no regrets. True CAGs can hold off until under $15, which might be xmas or next summer. $2 right now to get in before the next patch borks ice powers might be worth it for cheevo hunters.

I know this has been asked to death, but if I have jackbox 4 would 3 be the best bang for my buck? Seems to have the least duplicates and gets solid reviews.

Man, Bethesda just keeps fucking up don't they?

I wonder what the blowback in the EU will be?

Edit: Also bet they just shipped those bags the first time now...
