Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

The issue is you need software on your PC capable of partitioning the drive properly. Not regular partition software either, software specifically designed for partitioning the Xbox 360 Hard Drive. The emulator files went on a separate hidden partition IIRC. i think I did it originally 8 years ago for my first modded console, using modified files that made even more games playable. I haven't messed with it in forever, so my memory is fuzzy. Anyway, the requirement for official drives was because of that. If you plugged an unofficial drive of the correct size in an unmoddifed xbox and formatted it, I don't think it would partition it properly. At least from what little I can recall. I assume using the same software I used, with any drive size MS allows (any size drive that wasn't a size MS offered wouldn't work at least back then on unmodified consoles) you could still install the official emulator files. I may even still have the original files archived on some hard drive somewhere in my house.
TLDR: just spend the $10 on the official hard drive

Thanks for the message XBL!

Has anyone had any trouble with multiple charges for a single purchase? I bought a movie through the vudu app last night and it took a few seconds longer than usual to go through. I saw 3 confirmation emails and checked my card and was charged 3 times. While contacting customer support this afternoon to get the order numbers I saw that it tried to charge me 5 times but auto refunded 2 of them. Just have an automated reply email right now saying they'll get back to me in the next 3 days.

I got a rock too.

“Thank you for watching The Game Awards on Mixer. Sorry, you are not a winner of Battlefield V. Keep enjoying great content on Mixer!”
Honestly, I'd rather they didn't send anything. You're all excited that you got an Xbox message notification, open it to see what you got, and realize it's a slap in the face instead.

This is exactly what happened. I was watching a movie and saw a message from XBL and was like cool free stuff and NOPE

You guys I think we've always had Battlefield V all along in our hearts. By that I mean the battlefield of wasted time watching best live streamer and eSports team.

The Fortune Island expansion for FH4 is ready to preload on both the x1 and PC. Clocks in at under 7.5 gigs. I'm unsure of any unlock time at this point.

I dunno on Hitman 2, it was such a disaster of a mess to get the actual content I paid for like the legacy pack to import the Hitman 1 levels into Hitman 2, maybe they'll just leave it as is now.

TA 12 Days of Christmas

Day 10

Ten Dudes A Jumping

Unlock ten achievements in the Platformer genre.

----

So I was right to guess we'd see a genre based challenge, but I was wrong on the genre.  Since they didn't do a ratio based one today, I'm now thinking we'll still see a ratio based, but maybe not a leapfrog.

Maybe instead of the standard "get more than ___ ratio" challenge they'll bring back the Giant Slalom (alternate getting achievements above and below the target ratio).

Either way, we're almost done with the reveals, and you'll have until the end of December to complete all of them.

Also ICYMI: their Game of the Year voting closes 7AM Eastern time December 17.

Anyone know any quick cheap BC game for the truachievements Jawn?
Maybe even something on gamepass I’m overlooking?
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was a Game With Gold this past summer, and it's backwards compatible, so you can use it for either one of those daily challenges (whichever you feel like you're going to have more trouble with).

Out of the 12 achievements, 10 of them can be unlocked in maybe an hour. The other 2 will take another hour (and thankfully you don't need to WIN any online matches... just PLAY them.)

Edit: Just realized GwG day was before Back Compat day... so that should be "if you didn't use Virtua Fighter yet..."

Been playing the 360 Deus Ex on my Xbox One X and want to love it. I love Bladerunner, but I can't seem to get into this game. I am at the first boss, a Texas Cyborg of some kind, and what a pain in the ass. Does this game get better or am I playing it too late?

The boss battles were famously the worst part of Deus Ex: Human Revolution because they were outsourced to a different company and basically made it so if you weren't combat focused, you'd be in more of an uphill battle. I Believe they released the Director's Cut as a way to fix this, but I never played it. Outside of the boss battles, I enjoyed the game, but if you're not wiling to forgive that or not a fan of stealth, I say go for something else.

It took a bit for the game to grow on me... I had bought it at it's original release and then stopped playing because I think Rage and then Skyrim came out...came back years later and got really into it and finally got it finished... Like the last person said the boss' are pretty annoying (but do-able) though a non combat build can make it pretty difficult....the environment and cyber punk aspect are awesome though.

Hated him especially as a boss. That whole "play your way" nonsense really killed the vibe of the game when it was discovered that stealth got you killed a lot in boss fights

As mentionned, If you can get your hands on the Deus Ex Director's Cut, it does fix the boss battles, as they added multiple ways to win them. It also intergrates the DLC into the story instead of it being stand alone after the main game + a few minor visual enhancements.

I'd recommend the Director's Cut, as it's one of my favorite 360 games. I havent played the vanilla version, but knowing the boss battles and imagining that you cant use a stealthy method to end them, sounds pretty shitty.

Got sent the original version to review, those battles had me ready to scream. Never did try the Director's Cut

Love the community here. Ask a question and get actual answers and not grief. Appreciate the feedback guys. Sounds like I need to get the Director's Cut. My build is basically all hacker. This game makes me want an updated Shadowrun.

I looked around this morning and couldn't figure out how to pre-download it?
Mine was there last Thursday in manage games and apps

Unrelated, there are 4 new 200 point Gamepass punch cards in the app:

Earn one achievement in PUBG

Earn one achievement in Hitman

Earn one achievement in Vermintide 2

Earn one achievement in Humans Fall Flat

Thanks I found it on the webpage but couldn't find it on the console.

Again, I don't get why they still focus on achievements in specific games. If I already got all the achievements in one of these games, does that automatically disqualify me for the punch card? How is someone supposed to complete these if they already got all the achievements prior to this punch card? Instead they should focus on a broad game genre -- earn one achievement in a sports game, earn one achievement in a platformer (followed by a specific list of games that qualify), etc.

If I already got all the achievements in one of these games, does that automatically disqualify me for the punch card?
Short answer most likely yes.

I assume that the focus is on them since it is easier to track (yes I see the hilarity in that seeing all the issues we've had in the past with tracking) than say play X game for 1 hour or do these feats in it. I also suspect it is to try to get people to try games/genres they wouldn't normally play.

This. Way easier to look at metrics for 4 games then over 4 genres. Plus it'll give insights to who's actively using the GamePass Punch Card when paired against the GamePass community as a whole. Might even be some cross-marketing agreements with developers to have X amount of players play said game in a given month on GamePass

Seems like Deus Ex had basically the same problem that Alpha Protocol had.
Woah woah woah, I like Alpha Protocol but lets not go crazy here. AP's problem was JANK cranked up to 11 coupled with mediocre at best gameplay. Human Revolution is great pretty much all around except for those boss battles.

Is there an achievement for installing pubg? Thats about as far as id care to go..
If you play any of the other Battle Royale games it will help you appreciate just how much better of an experience a competent development team that knows how to use their engine can make. Though I think this is more effective if you played PUBG closer to launch so you can see it's "progress"

I just played this game last year and loved it! One of my favorite games of the year. I admit, it did take me a couple of hours to get into it though, and the boss battles could have been done better.

I must have played the DC version then since I used a stealth build and was able to complete the game on the hardest difficulty without too many retries. I did use exploits on a couple of the later bosses though (Lite spoiler:
Stun gun on the lady and catching the last merc guy off guard at the right spot, etc.
) that made them doable, otherwise I probably would have been frustrated too.

shrug, been playing the snow map since launch last week on the PC test server seems pretty good, having footprints you can track in the snow is a bit of a game changer. Then again I always just eye-roll the Fortnite is great Pubg sucks stuff anwyay.

Finished Mutant Year Zero last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit! I recall people saying it was similar to XCOM, but I've never played any of the XCOM games so I can't comment. It is a great gamepass addition and I recommend everyone give it a try!

If you play any of the other Battle Royale games it will help you appreciate just how much better of an experience a competent development team that knows how to use their engine can make. Though I think this is more effective if you played PUBG closer to launch so you can see it's "progress"
First person shooter console online only. No thanks.
Mouse/keyboard or gtfo.

I dont care how “good” it is, controllers SUCK for fps. I use a xim4 when i do play a fps, just not online. I rarely do any MP anymore of any kind.

Does it have mouse/keyboard support?
Its still a multiplayer shooter on a console, and still not interested.
Fortnite has mouse and keyboard support on Xbox and PS4. I could see it coming to PUBG since it's an option now, but I wouldn't be surprised if PUBG Corp either added it without separating the playlists, or won't add it for that reason.

Anyways, this isn't exactly the right thread to trash console shooters in. I'd wager most of us are fine with it, with Xbox being built on the back of Halo.

I only shit on PUBG because I think it had a lot of potential that was horribly squandered. I see how much more optimized and better supported PUBG Mobile is and PC/Console PUBG seem even worse. I praise Fortnite because it does almost everything right that PUBG did wrong, and is free to play with no bullshit.

Can confirm these 200 point quests on MS Rewards are hitting instantly for me, at least with Hitman and Human Fall Flat. Don't have an easy PUBG one to get and not sure about Vermintide 2 on my card for 200 points, but maybe.

edit: The Human Fall Flat wants a specific achievement amount of 20 Gamerscore for some reason, but that game seems to love 20 gamerscore, why it was great the other day for True Achievements 12 days of Christmas

Mother of a whore. Microsoft suspended one of my bing accounts. Geez, I have 2 accounts and never use exploits. One account for xbox credit and one for amazon or walmart gift cards.

Fortnite does have M&KB support on Xbox, so....

Really looking forward to playing Mutant Zero Year!

So uh.......I downloaded the Hitman 2 Prologue last month and just installed the full game from the Hitman 2 disc.....and I don't need the disc to play the game.
Did not work for me. Have access to the first mission but that's it. Everything is installed. Curious what it says for you when you go to the Hitman 2 screen on your Xbox or the website (mine says I can either play the prologue or buy the game for $60).

Is FF XV Day One edition worth $9.97?

Edit..non digital version
I'd say it's better to get the Royal Edition. It comes with the Royal Expansion AND the full season pass. Its price is regularly around $25 and I would not be surprised if it hit $20 soon. The dlc does not go on sale by itself to often
