Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

For anybody that needs some quick achievements for the 11 Indie Darlings, it looks like NORTH is on sale for $1.50 for 1 more day (normally $5), and has 10 achievements that can be earned in less than an hour.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/north/c4txvzxd64nm?activetab=pivot:eek:verviewtab
This is more of an interactive art piece than a game, but it takes less than an hour with a guide. It's super weird and nothing seems to make much sense, but it is a very different experience if you want a quick weird trip.

What's different with 2, I only ever played the original on 64. Seems like there would have to be more weapons at least.
More weapons, less fog and overall more polish. Also the Cerebral Bore!!!!!!

Though I'm skeptic on how it's aged since I haven't played it in almost twenty years when I rented it from Hollywood Videos.

Yay! Looks like I'm getting a free copy of Assassin's Creed Odyssey!

But I still want achievements.

Google is the real MVP. In one swoop, they offer more value than an entire year's worth of Gold freebies by giving away a lauded recent release. Microsoft really scrapes the bottom of the barrel for the Xbox One titles. The 360 offerings are a little better, but are usually quite ancient.

Google gave 1 game away - something they dont care enough about and this probably is a market investment try out. MS makes money making / selling games.

This is like saying Costco is the real MVP coz they let you try their snacks while the fast food joints are assholes for selling their burgers for $1 (or more).

I guess I continue to live in an alternate universe where I continue to have a great time with Pubg, and now you can add Fallout 76 to that list of “games I’m not supposed to like, but I love”. I’ve got about 25 hours in 76 and have only played solo so far. I’m totally digging the world that’s been built, and exploring whatever direction I’ve chosen to go. I rarely have any bug issues, and have only been kicked from the server once. My buddy and I are texting almost every day about what we’ve seen and done, we just can’t get enough. Added to that enjoyment is the HC Prima Games guide which I got for a steal on Amazon for $15 (normally $50). I’m not using it for quest spoilers or help (yet) but the sheer amount of information in this 500+ page book is astounding.

I'm not sure it's accurate to say that they don't care enough about this venture since the whole project is streaming video games, which can't be cheap to accommodate for thousands of users. Regardless, it's still the full game, so in your example, Costco is giving away free steaks while burger chains are offering dollar menu sandwiches with frozen patties made of cowshit.

I mean, obviously a matter of opinion. I'd rather have the 48 Games with Gold than a Ubisoft game that, yes, is probably very good, but you could already get for what...$30? $35 on Black Friday? Let's not get out of hand here. It's not really a fair comparison when you consider the breadth of Gold as a service.

Liking FH4 Fortune Island so far.  Found all the roads and 4 treasure chests already.  Doesn't seem as big or deep as previous FH expansions but maybe its just me.  The northern lights and lightning/rain are very well done.  If I had to describe it I would say "Storm Island II"

I'm really curious what they are going to do with the second expansion...

You'd rather have 48 games most people would never have bought or already had than one game you might really enjoy and is widely heralded as one of the best games of the year? Pretend it's not Assassin's Creed and is actually your most anticipated game of the year. Would you still prefer the games currently offered on Gold compared to that highly anticipated game? Most people would prefer the latter, I think. If you were going to buy the game at launch anyway, it's like Google comped it for you.

In all honesty Ubisoft is probably the one to thank here for the free Odyssey, They would very much like you to keep playing the game and have the potential for more dlc/season pass purchases than for you to drop it once the google test is done.

Comparing them giving you a free game as a thank you for testing to a xbox live subscription benefit is a bit disingenuous.

Odyssey is very good, and the google streaming has been very impressive even on the crap ass Uverse I have.

Yes, how dare he have an opinion different than yours?? You must bury him to the ground with why this is the greatest thing of all time! FINISH HIM!! FINISH HIM UNTIL HE CURLS TO THE GROUND AND ACKNOWLEDGES THIS IS THE GREATEST DEAL OF ALL TIME!

And even with me getting this for free...I rather have a deal on the Gold edition and even than I'll play it and beat it on console before I get to it on playing on my computer. It just drains so much bandwidth and regardless I rather go through all the other Ass Creed games first, which is *stares at backlog* alot.

Never Alone is pretty good if you're looking for a light couch coop platformer, and with easy achievements :D/

The $35.99 for 12 months of Gold through the dashboard is probably as good a deal as possible right now right? I guess with the credit I have it's probably no contest.

With TRU dead and my final ExpertZone offering being for GamePass instead this is the first time I've had to buy Gold in several years.
I noticed the deal on my dashboard and went ahead and redeemed it as well. And I got the 6 month game pass deal thatv was showing up so did that one too.

You know this is a one-time thing that Ubisoft is giving you right?

Did I miss Race the Sun already for free? I thought I had through the 15th. It says "With Xbox Live Gold, play this game, or buy it to own."

Or is this a recent thing where you don't own all of the free Gold games anymore? I let my Gold subscription lapse and just renewed on black friday.

Yea, you need to maintain a gold sub to have continued access to Xbox One GWG titles. Been that way since they started giving away games on the One.

This sounds like what it should say while it's still free. Looking at it on the website while logged out I don't see any Gold fanfare though. The old official announcement does say the 15th so I guess try and contact support, that could mean the start or end of the day based on the wording, I haven't really paid attention to end times as I usually grab them within a day or two of when they go live.

So Day 12 of the TA Christmas challenge has forced me to dip into the backlog.  With that, Alice Madness Returns is a pretty dope game. It has some wonky controls at times but I love this dark dark take on Wonderland. It is worth playing for sure.

You do have until the 15th. There are times I've waited until the 15th or 30th/31st to add it to my acct. There could be something wrong with live. As Six suggested, contact MS.

I paid full price for Turok 2 when it came out on XBox One. I definitely like it better than the first Turok game which I picked up on sale.

I will say the remaster makes the game better than the original N64 game which had terrible frame rate issues. Now it is all silky smooth frame rate and nice pretty graphics. Makes it a totally new game. Definitely worth $5.

Well you certainly have some takes...

Last night I did two of the four games at 200 rewards points each to grab one last $5 Xbox gift card at 3500 points.

PUBG needs a lot of work. Pop ups galore on my X

Anyone here have an Oculus Go VR headset? If so, opinions on it? Is it any good at that low price point and without needing a good computer to run it?

Wrong thread, bro.
This is the wrong thread to get opinions of other primary Xbox gamers like myself as to if they have an Oculus Go and think it’s worth it if they are primary Xbox gamers? That’s my concern, someone wants to give me one as a gift but I’m not sure I want it as an Xbox gamer, so I’m wondering if other Xbox gamers have it and find it enjoyable or if it is collecting dust.

The PC thread would just tell me to return it and buy the more expensive version and a super pc to run it. Pc pc pc!

Also, the best way to deal with an off topic post if you want it to go away is to just ignore it. Responding to it just makes more ppl respond to it. I was just hoping for one or two responses from ppl that have one or zero responses if no one does. Now we have 4 additional posts instead of just my one being ignored if you didn’t have an answer.

I don't have one but it sounds like it'd be hard pass for me. No PC required or supported means most of the VR games you've heard of will not work. It also has a low amount of storage with no SD Card slot, and poor battery life.

Power-wise I'm seeing it compared to the Gear VR paired with a Galaxy S8, so if you have an interest in mobile VR it is a good deal, or if you want something portable. If you want to do VR video content it does sound like a great option for that, to be fair.

Personally I have done some mobile VR stuff and while it is cool, it's a big step down from the real thing. Hard to say if it's worth it overall, but it is WAY cheaper than getting a real Oculus or Vive and powerful enough machine. While it sounds like the screens themselves are higher resolution than the PSVR, you'd have access to more worthwhile games on PlayStation, and if you already have a PS4 the price would be comparable. Yes, I think the current PSVR will go in the toilet when next gen comes, but Oculus Go will also be outdated quickly.

I haven't watched this all the way through yet, but I've got to say I'm really digging the attitude 343 seems to have shifted to lately. Maybe it's just that Ske7ch is the community guy now but I'm just getting much better vibes than I have in the past. A lot of the time I used to see 343 speak about stuff they just seemed overly cocky about how amazing everything they were making supposedly was, even though they had no real pedigree and were hand the series on a golden platter. Maybe that was just the public faces of the time I guess, I know when Halo 5 lead Josh Holmes came out at the Game Awards attached to Scavengers, it killed all of my interest the trailer built for me.

The stream itself is about the making of that E3 Halo Infinite trailer. At the very least, it seems they finally learned to not have the horrendously shitty outlook on the series they were making, as shown in this old article. Everything the guest is saying so far is stuff I've wanted to hear since 343 took over. Excitement is building now, which I didn't ever expect again from 343. Some of the lore guys are gleaming a few things that may be major plot details, like the serial number on the AI chip they show.

Devil May Cry 4 Special must have only gotten a physical release for Xbox in Asia. My cousin surprisingly showed interest in DMC 5 so I was going to get it as it's the closest gameplay-wise, but I guess I'm doing digital since there is no way I'm paying $90+.

All I have left is Drift Club achievement wise on Fortune Island. For the Feista one you can use a community blueprint and finish that in like 10 seconds. Also note that car is under Hoonigan not Ford, it is one of the Gymkhanas.

Also there are two rival events in FM7, one that gives everyone a FE BMW and the other that gives credits/FE cars per 20% of your rank on the leaderboard.

Turok 2 was one of the first games where the arrows stuck in the enemies

and you all remember how badass it was when arrows started sticking in games and bullets started leaving accurate blood stains

So Day 12 of the TA Christmas challenge has forced me to dip into the backlog. With that, Alice Madness Returns is a pretty dope game. It has some wonky controls at times but I love this dark dark take on Wonderland. It is worth playing for sure.
I'm on 10/12 for the 12 letter achievements. Hoping to use Deadlight for the final two.

The game I dipped deep into the backlog for was Far Cry Primal. Pretty cool game, I think I'll keep playing and finish it off.

The mid-nineties had a wave of games that made me flip my lid in regards to more "realistic" details. During that era being a teen, shooting bad guys in GoldenEye which left blood stains where you just shot em? Whoa. Writhing in pain from having landing a hit in the leg. Bullet holes in the walls when you shot errantly. Turok where the Bore drilled out your brains? Arrows sticking in enemies. Wow

At the time, I'd never seen that "real" aspect in games. Sure Mortal Kombat had blood n gore ripping people's spines out and setting them aflame alive. But like the movie scene where people want a tad more believability than say something like Predator from the 80's, those games that nailed the bloody details back in the day that hadn't been seen in video games yet......it was awesome

Still hyped for Hellblade next week and the possibility of snagging Turok 2 for sub $10

Don't know if this is a repost, but seasons of the Starz TV series Black Sails are on sale on Microsoft Movies & TV:

If anyone reading this uses Vudu, it's worth noting that you can get the complete series of all four seasons for just $2 total using their disc to digital program.

What I'm I doing wrong? Try to scan some DVD bar codes and I get a error saying location must match billing address. Scan must take place at home of billing address. I am at home! I double checked my billing address and checked my phone's GPS and everything matches.

If you're doin it on iOS that might be why as they say it's hit or miss when using Apple vudu app.

The problem is usually payment method. Switch from credit card to Paypal and it usually works or at least it did for me.
