Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Dream Daddy is actually really good, if that's your jam. It isn't mine, but I remember hearing it discussed when it released on PC.

Anyone having trouble "purchasing" Dragon Ball Z S1? It keeps giving me an error of "Try that again". Everything else worked well, so many thanks!😊

This, We ended up taking our Xbox with us to visit family one year because something we wanted was going on sale on Christmas day. It was really annoying.
You can always purchase from your phone/pc app or web browser.😉

I'm getting the same thing. I think I may have gotten that free during a holiday sale back on the 360. Maybe that's causing some kind of problem on the back end. It's not showing as already owned on the marketplace, but the back end knows it is.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I too got it when it was free a while back, but I'm not sure it was the HD version. Either way, going into Movies and TV says I own the HD version, so all is well. 😊

How do you folks go about getting refunds on digital games? I tried to do one last night, saying it wasn’t as described (it wasn’t an accidental purchase so I didn’t want to outright lie to them), but I got an email today that it doesn’t meet the refund requirements or some such nonsense. I played the game for less than an hour and purchased it on Monday.

You have to lie and say you bought it on accident. Every other option I've ever tried has been rejected.

Ugh, I kinda figured that. Do you think it’s worth a shot trying it again for the same game? Or is it just a lesson learned for next time?

I resubmitted a request once for a game and had it approved the 2nd time. Part of it might just be the luck of who's handling the case.

Thanks for the help. Worth another shot, even though most of the purchase was with credit. No sense letting it go to waste. But definitely good info for the future in case it happens again.

Will a gold trial work for purchasing gold discounted games? I don’t have gold and they don’t seem to be offering the $1 month Live that I missed out on last month.

I find it weird that Dragon Ball Xenoverse has the game and season pass on sale but for Xenoverse 2, it's only the base game. Every other time the game has been on sale, the deluxe version with the pass has as well. I was banking for the game and pass. Now I'm at a loss

Wait, what? I constantly checked the $5 credit for both the Xbox credit and general Microsoft credit. Was it under a higher amount?
It was Microsoft gift cards. The current listing has multiple denominations from $1.25 to $100. I think they might've had a second listing of them as the hot deal that only had $5 and $10.

Got interested for a minute because the turok bundle is on the sale page on my xbox but then noticed it wasn't on sale, must just be something wonky with 2 being on sale.

Because it wasn't under the usual Microsoft Gift Card or XBox Gift Card tile, but instead under a separate tile in the rewards section listed as a hot deal with a cartoony picture of a snowy area and trees. It had Microsoft gift cards for $5 and $10 for 30% off so 3,500 and 7,000 points each respectively.

Wow none of my top wanted / don’t have games are on sale. Give me a heads up if Hover, Call of Cthulhu, or Vampyre sneak on the list or a daily deal. :(

Can you purhcase Panzer Elite and play it on an X1 in the US?  Looks like majornelson's post sends to a link payable in pounds.  Anyone know?

Bummer. Thanks for explaining it.

Thanks for posting which anime was free. I was going to skip the deal but you made it easy, so why not :)

As a big Shenmue fan, I had a great time with Sleeping Dogs. I liked that you could dress up the protagonist as Ryo, it led to this parody: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDdgKAf6f6U&t=41s

I also highly recommend Little Nightmares. It is a great, twisted side-scrolling game. It's just too bad that it never got a Xbox One X patch and is still 1080p. On PS4 Pro it's 1800p

Bummer, played through all of it and it's DLC on Xbox One X, the visuals are still amazing, reminded me of an evolution of old TOOL videos

You should be able to by changing store region through the website. The issue is you need to have a valid payment method for whatever region you're buying from. The easiest thing to do is supposed to be buy a gift card from that region.

This guide should work for you. Sounds like you still need to use a fake address at one point though.

Got Burnout Remasted and Cuphead with my free email money. Also picked up Little Nightmares. Now I read a couple posts above that LN runs better on PS4 Pro and I’m a little bummed I picked it up on Xbox. I have both an X and a Pro. Hopefully an X enhancement comes along before I get around to playing it

For Dragon Ball season 1 I clicked the SD version and it worked.

this gets a little more tricky when buying original xbox or xbox 360 games since you can't buy them through the webstore using xbox gift card balance. you might be able to do it through the xbox 360 but you'll have to change your region on the console. and even if you go that far, do we know if backwards compatible games are region-free on the xbox one?

the minimum xbox gift card for UK is £10.

it might be a better plan to obtain a prepaid UK visa or mastercard instead. then you can possibly buy direct from the xbox UK webstore.

After seeing alot of people here talk about MS rewards, I decieded to dabble in it this week, doing polls, quizzes, visiting pages..etc.  I see where you log into the rewards on consecutive days you get bonus points.  Ive been logging in for 4 days straight, go in this morning and they tell me I missed a day so I've been reset.  Im like wtf.  Seems too much of a hassle to gather that many points to redeem for XBL or giftcards.

Whoop, forgot OG Xbox games count as 360 for purchasing purposes. It's best to create a different account rather than use your normal one as switching regions for 360 was a big no no. We don't want a second Oman War.

I found another cheap TV season deal on Microsoft Movies & TV.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand - 99 cents

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/season-1/8d6kgwzl67sq?activetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab
I want to put in a plug for Spartacus, this is a really fantastic season of TV. But be warned, the pilot episode is WAY over the top, and it might turn you off. Keep watching, it gets really good! It's a terrible shame that the actor died of cancer not long after this. I didn't have the heart to keep watching after that, but I think the story of season 1 stands really well on its own.

Oh boy... you’ve stepped in it now. 😉

It’s not consecutive days logging in, it is consecutive data doing the daily activities (poll, quiz, and a link). Which they gain you points on their own. Search for Microsoft rewards and logging in should get you to the page

It is a lot of work. If you do all the searches and quizzes every day, and redeem the points for Microsoft credit or XBL Gold when they're the Hot Deals, you're only getting 30 cents a day. Not many people would do 5 minutes of pointless computer work if you offered them a quarter and a nickel, but because it's Xbox-branded, people are willing to trudge through it. It's great because that's exactly the type of thing that allows Sea of Thieves alpha DLC to sell for $100 on eBay.

Its not but their site does suck.

I "trudge through" because I'm already at work. On a computer. Doing other pointless computer work, lol. Might as well kill two birds with one stone. Not sure I follow how getting free shit translates to inflated DLC code resale prices, but you do you, friend. Happy Holidays!

Agreed. Great series.

I guess if you consider it a hassle...

I have gotten my last 3 years of XBL paid for by bing and on this most recent discount I think I got $145 cashed out between discounted Xbox credit and emails.

Bing bought me...
Assassins Creed Odyssey
Steep
Middle Earth Shadow of War Definitive
SSX 3
Battle Chasers Nightwar

And that’s just from this sale, I bought 9 other games during Black Friday sale with bing credits.

IMO Bing is the best loyalty program any gaming company has to offer. I hope it never goes away. Just a few button clicks per day and so much free gaming.

I agree that MS Rewards is a great loyalty program. It pays for XBox Live Gold for me and my son every year. Plus I get credit to buy games as well. Way better than Nintendo's practically non existent loyalty program.

What kind of loyalty program does Sony have for Playstation?

Nintendo gave me 60 cents for buying Super Smash Brothers... lol

Sigh...this again. Is it just a lot of work, or is it all we think about all day and it's ruining our lives and marriages?

Seriously, it's a few minutes a day. Probably closer to 2 minutes than 5. People sink how many hours a day into useless browsing of Facebook, etc., but a couple of minutes a day doing something that pays for your Xbox Live Gold/Game Pass, etc. is "a lot of work"? If that's a lot of work to you, what do you do for a living? Lol

Also this. I nearly always do my Bing stuff when I'm already getting paid to work...or when I'm putting off doing work, like I am right now.

It is ironic for ppl that spend so much time on a website called Cheap Ass Gamers to say that 2-5 mins a day to get free video games from Bing is a mega time waste...
