Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Downloaded Nascar Heat 4 due to it being free for the weekend and man oh man do I missed the PSOne Nascar games. This new game sucks with crashes and my favorite thing to do is go the wrong way to plow into cars just to see the chaos. I loved seeing how many cars I could take out before my car gets wiped out and to see who wins the race by merely surviving my death driving. This game, I try to doing it and nothing really happens except minor car damage and tougher car controls.

Wreckfest. Get it. It's exactly what you want. I love it.

Guess I missed out on GPU for free. Didn't even know about watching anything, and I don't use Discord. They really should start advertising these things on the dash.

it wasn't a mixpot, it's just gifts for current Ultimate members. Current members can go to the Store > Memberships > get more info, and it shows up with the games with gold/ free play days.

Anyone own the Fortnite controller?  It looks pretty cool online... wondering how dark it actually is.  I'm hoping it goes on sale for $40 for black friday

Last year the holiday hotdeal started November 15th, was 7000 for $10 3500 for $5.

I figured it would be the same this year but with no hot deal last month I’m not optimistic.

It is VERY dark. I don't play fortnite (still need to list the code on ebay) but thought it looked sweet. I wish it was a little lighter. I thought I got a black controller at first since the room was a bit dark.

Thanks for the info. I'm not seeing the extra bonuses everyone mentioned. No 4000 point for $40 spend or any of that.
It's different than the mobile stuff, there is a separate app you can download on the Xbox called "MS Rewards" has those things plus stuff for GamePass quests, just random little one off 5 points for look at this game, and weekly streaks for doing stuff like getting 3 achievements, looking at some game. The Gamepass quest stuff can be brought up on the mobile device, but the things like buying Star Wars and getting 6000 points you need to activate on the app through the Xbox itself.

Ah ok. Damn it's all confusing. Well I'm out of town will have to wait till I get home to activate I guess.

Yep, why people further up the thread in this very busy last 24 hours were hoping that the MS Rewards Xbox dashboard app comes to project Xcloud. Problem solved ;)

Ok, in the Game Pass section of dashboard, there's a tile for "claim your ultimate gift now" where you can get your 1 month EA access, 3 months of discord nitro, and 6 months of spotify premium.

Then on the Discord Nitro side of things, you can claim a code for 3 months of game pass:

Has anyone tried purchasing the $1 3-month GPU trial, and seeing whether this offer appears? My wife shares my Gold and GP so I've never needed to enroll her, but for $1, I could do with another two months of GPU to apply to my own account.

I picked this up a while ago. I SUCK at driving backwards in the demo derbies. I tried to unlock other stuff for a bit but got side tracked. Wish I could just play more of the other forward going tracks without unlocking them. I think I still have only the base car. I just want to drive around forward and smash stuff.

The feeling of having so many games that I look at that free month of EA Access offer and just say "nah, I'm good."

Tried and failed. I think it's only new members.

Question... would anyone here be interested in creating a "Christmas" giveaway?  We'd need to pick someone to hold the funds, I guess, but I'm thinking something cool... like a new Elite 2 controller or even a Black Friday all digital Xbone.  If enough members chipped in a couple bucks, we could easily make that happen.  Thoughts?  Am I being too ambitious?

So for the 3months GPU from discord, i've never used that app, I have to install it or can i do it through a browser? Do i have to sign up, give info, add cc? I'm just wondering how much of a hassle for the 3months GPU.

And does their code work for existing GPU subs or just new? Not sure I am going to give Discord my CC either way.

Question... would anyone here be interested in creating a "Christmas" giveaway? We'd need to pick someone to hold the funds, I guess, but I'm thinking something cool... like a new Elite 2 controller or even a Black Friday all digital Xbone. If enough members chipped in a couple bucks, we could easily make that happen. Thoughts? Am I being too ambitious?
Do it as a raffle. Sell tickets for it then winner gets it. Honestly though id rather put that money to charity like we used to do. We used to do donations for extra life which was a charity for video games in hospitals for sick kids

Xbox chief says Project Scarlett ‘will not be out of position on power or price’

https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/14/20965239/xbox-project-scarlett-price-performance-ps5-phil-spencer-interview
I wish writers would stop posting nonsense like "Project Scarlett console will support 8K gaming." No, it won't, not in any meaningful sense. Maybe some simple 2D games could run at 8K, but the Scarlett GPU is not going to be able to cope with any reasonable level of 3D effects at 8K. Not to mention that 8K support (even for just video) is totally useless for 99.9% of the population anyway.

I am curious what MS will do for multiple SKUs in this next generation. I can see it going one of two ways - either there will be 2 Scarlett-based SKUs at different power/price levels, or Scarlett will only be the new high-end and the X1X will price drop to midrange while the X1S stays at the low end. The only problem is that next-gen games may not run on even the X1X architecture, so I'm leaning toward the 2 Scarlett SKUs scenario.

Haven't they already said games will work? I'm expecting the X to be 200 in a year and Scarlett will be 400.

Yeah. I wish folks were less concerned with resolutions and the like, I just want games to look nice and run well. The Switch dancing between 720p -1080p and still selling well is proof that quality games are the most important thing.

That's such a better idea :) Extra Life it is

Someone needs to make a guide of how to use game pass as the quality library grows I’m lost in what to play, how to play, etc. should I dabble in everything for 20 minute intervals? Make a list and power through one by one? So many games and no time.

I recently got a switch lite and I finished luigis mansion 3 so I’m feeling pretty accomplished but my backlog on switch has me interested in abandoning Xbox simply due to my giant backlog.
https://kotaku.com/xbox-one-is-getting-a-shuffle-button-to-let-you-go-thro-1839806274

I played and finished The Outer Worlds about a week or so ago. It's one of the few games I couldn't put down and actually completed in years. I decided to download and play Vampyr  from Game Pass and I promptly deleted it from hard drive after about a hour of gameplay. Man the combat was garbage, which sucked any interest I had to play it away faster than a vampire sucking their victim's blood.

That shuffle option sounds great until I remember that I probably have less than 10% of my available library downloaded and of that only about 5% of my downloaded ones are updated to the current version. Randomly choosing a title to watch a download progress bar for does still sound like more fun than my normal plan of spending 30 minutes browsing my collection and giving up before playing anything at all.

So in Bioware rumors. Supposedly a new Mass Effect is in development in Bioware Edmonton studio and Anthem is getting a complete overhaul I guess something similar to what happened to No Man's Sky. After all the talks of crunch and the "Bioware Magic" AKA more crunch and them working on Dragon 4ge...I'm curious, but very hesitant to see if anything comes from these.

The mountain they have to climb to even get people to touch this game is so high I have difficulty seeing what they can even do. The amount of change needed basically means Anthem 2.0 if not a full blown sequel, and if they charge for it I don't see many people buying in. The positives I see is that the game is being handed off to a different team than Edmonton, and we've had those recent departures by some of those that were handling the current disaster.

It just seems like a huge gamble on something they apparently don't have a good grasp on in any respect. Why keep dumping resources into saving an already sunken ship?

As for the one sentence, no detail mention of new Mass Effect, who even knows about that. It must be virtually nothing at this point in time, and has to be like 5 years away since Dragon Age is the main focus. It doesn't seem like Bioware Edmonton handles the two team thing well like they did 10 years ago.

....Yup. I have a feeling Outer Worlds is gonna have that affect on many. I went from playing Outer Worlds to playing Rage 2, and, even though I beat it only because I spent money on it, hated absolutely every second of it especially after playing the masterpiece that is TOW.

Side note, you are right about Vampyr as well. Garbage game. It was the final nail in the coffin for Dontnod for me, as I hated LiS too, but also probably Focus Home interactive as well.

It worked for FF14, too. They already have fun combat and traversal, so maybe it can be done?

Looking pretty positive for the Star Wars game, guess I'll pull that trigger
I'm honestly still hesitant because every time I see the game in action, I can't tell if the combat is slow-paced or if the person playing just sucks at souls games lol. There was a reviewer that hated their time with it mainly because it got dull after the first few hours and I have to wonder if review copies went out so late that people are scrambling to get their review out there. And sometimes a game is just 'good enough' that people want it to succeed and push more favorable reviews. I might buy it tonight, but I'm still cautiously pessimistic.

Y’all got anymore of them bing points deals on Microsoft credit? Or did they cut us junkies off from the 3500 or 4000 pt $5 card deals.

I was hoping I could buy EA presents Respawn Jedi Knight Souls today with cheap bing cards.

It always fascinates me how positive/negative reviews have a different impact for people. Like if there's 10 positive reviews for a movie or game but one negative review, people value the negative review very high. Or excuses are made for the positive reviews like being easy to please. People are very quick to dismiss a positive review but quick to accept the negative review.

I'm not talking about you, just people in general. You see it in product reviews too. There can be hundreds of good reviews on Amazon but if you scroll and see one bad review about it breaking, you might look for a different product. I'm sure i've done that before lol

I Mean, they gotta pay for that long list of Game Pass games announced yesterday to publishers somehow...

I watched a souls streamer playing some last night and really lost interest. The gameplay looks fine, I'm sure my brother and nephew will love it, but the first two level designs made no sense for a real area and felt extremely "gamey." Like, the first thing you have to do is repair a broken thing outside, so you just go swinging from beams and climbing up grating on the walls. Ropes? Safety harness? Never heard of em, now get out there in the rain and swing around like you're on monkey bars. I know the Empire has a pretty shitte record on safety, like the Death Star operators that don't even get a railing between them and a chasm full of planet annihilating lasers, but it just didn't make any sense this salvage operation had employees there for 30 years and the standard protocol was to run along narrow rafters and constantly make 5' jumps across gaps.

Then you get captured by Sith Inquisitors looking for Jedi who say they're going to kill everyone if you don't turn yourself in. So your buddy you just saved with the Force stands up and makes a speech about the good ol days before the Empire showed up. They realize the error of their ways, award everyone double pay, and let you all go. Oh wait, no they kill that moron and when you expose yourself they throw you off a cliff. Even tho they came to this planet looking for you and have hunted Jedi before and know how lucky they can be, surely it would be better to drop you than snap your stupid neck?

After attempting to play Red Dead Redemption 2 I realized I like a certain amount of gameyness to my games because total realism makes for boring video games.

Are you saying you don't want to play a Star Wars game where you carefully move a scissor lift into position, put on your fall arrest system, and then slowly raise yourself up to complete a repair?
