Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Since it's the last day for the app being on sale...I can only recommend the Dolby Access App for Xbox, with this app even cheap headsets and headphones sound awesome...also by using the app it feels like I get the full dolby atmos cinema experience. Sound is great!
Color me intrigued. I don't know if I have Dolby Atmos equipment though. Will this improve my regular soundbar sound as well?

Also, it just offers a free trial. How much is the app on discount?

I think seeing wurmple in a party hat is going to bring as much joy as getting a bunch of achievements.

No. Headphones only.
Is it suggested over windows sonic or is it just a preference/depends on hardware? Got an okay wireless headset a month ago and have just been using windows sonic. Should've used the atmos trial before at the start of the sale to decide if I should switch.

Haven't played it and don't want to...tbh was never a fan of Rockstar Games int the past and probably never will be. Same goes for the Fallout Games which apparently every single soul on this earth seem to love. ( I liked the advertising of the fallout games though, just not the games..)
I played gta 5 and begrudgingly finished it. All 3 characters are scumbags and you don’t really want to see any of them succeed.

Red Dead 2 was no bikini model, she was an 80 year old Grandma telling you her life story a day at a time. Sure the fresh baked cookies were good, but was it worth the 6 hour story to get one?
it is considered to be one of the best games this generation

So, to join the masses:

484 achievements for 9920 GS.

Also, what’s the ratio exactly?

Decent year, TA says I completed 2 games, but I’m pretty sure it’s counting the first episode of LIS:BTS as a full game, because other than that the only game I can see on there that I know I got all the achievements for was Tecmo Bowl Throwback. Still cool to be signed up, so thanks again for all the tips from people, and maybe I’ll see what some of these contests are about now.

Also, I’m apparently one of the small amount of people who hasn’t played GTA V. I played a few minutes at a friend’s house when he first got it on PS4, but spent more time watching my fiancé hang out at the strip club in game. I tried IV a long time ago and didn’t really like it, though I remember having fun playing Vice City when in college. I enjoyed the hell out of Sleeping Dogs though so I’m looking forward to at least playing through the new campaign, even if I don’t get into the online play at all.

Ha I do love me a good update! How’s stability and everything not very many issues or anything right?

It varies. I Only did it for like six months or so when it first started (before you could choose when to update) and it got to be too much for me because I have my console set on energy saving and there's no real perks besides saying "hey I got a new dashboard!" and every few months there seems to be a "man, it's running noticeably slow after that update..." So not much in terms of real benefits besides saying "FIRST!"

On the plus side, if you want to divorce it, it's pretty easy to opt out.

I don't really think the characters are really meant to be likable or anything, they're murderers/criminals, I just see them as a means to justify the open ended gameplay or crazy missions.

That is one thing turning me off is the slowing down and that but it should fix eventually right? So you can choose when to update now?

I don't know about X1 but on 360 the episodic games like walking dead the first episode was considered the game and each episode after was DLC. TA probably does it the same.

The ratio I believe is the average of the actual gamerscore you earned to the value it's given on TA. If you're unfamiliar the premise of the site is to track gamerscore value on a scale of how rare the achievement is.

I'm in the Alpha Ring and have been for a few years now (since before BC was made available to the public) and in that time I've experienced about a handful of system freezes and maybe twice that number of weird things that require a reboot to fix. For a little while I would just randomly get kicked out of a party without notice, but none of that has happened in the last several months. I would think being in the Beta or Delta rings are more stable than this, but I don't consider this bad.

Cool that doesn’t sound too bad then I’ll probably do it

I don't really think the characters are really meant to be likable or anything, they're murderers/criminals, I just see them as a means to justify the open ended gameplay or crazy missions.
I felt like other rockstar games had lead characters with some redeemable qualities or those simply stuck in a situation. Here when I’m helping Trevor do a mission I feel like I’m helping out a sex offender. I legit wanted to drive him into a cement wall each time it was his turn. During the game, there was no growth or character development of qualities. Just a dumb sandbox. Weakest game in awhile from rockstar for me.

GTA never did it for me and I’m burned out of RDR2 already. Rockstar just isn’t for me
I have really tried RDR2 but I’m terrible at the combat. I thought the setting and being a cowboy would be enough for me but it’s not. Going around on my horse is fun but as soon as some combat happens, I get killed and rage quit. Maybe I suck at the combat but I don’t care. I think it doesn’t help the game can be relaxing and slow paced and suddenly skyrocket into a mass shooting.
I haven’t like GTA since Vice City and a lot of what I like was the setting. I can’t stand being a bad guy. I’ll play GTA just to drive around and listen to it’s soundtrack on occasion.

The only Rockstar games that I've actually enjoyed are L.A. Noire and the Midnight Club series. The only other game I'm interested in trying is the first Red Dead Redemption. I've never cared for GTA or games similar to it (i.e. Mafia, Sleeping Dogs)

Here’s TA explaining the ratio.

As for GTA V, I played it on the 360. Beat the story, did some side quests (KIFFLOM!) and barely touched the online. I got a good amount of time out of the single player, but found the online to be full of run of the mill asshats and griefers.

*snip* But every Rockstar Game "feels the same" just with a different location..and for whatever reason that gameplay never got me excited or even interested to keep on going it always just felt tedious...the only GTA experience I actually kinda had fun with was GTA2, the topdown 2d thingie. But Bully, the GTA Series until IV and even RDR will go unfinished I don't feel like coming back to these games.
I won't deny that GTA III and Vice City were amazing games, but I also put way more time into GTA2 than any other in the series. Then again, I got a sweet gaming laptop for xmas and immediately spent $100 on pixelated roguelikes during the holiday sale.

I wish Blasphemous had gone lower on xbl, but it just couldn't compete with a humble bundle.

I agree about GTA5 having the most unlikeable, I Wish They'd All Die Horribly In A Fire protagonists since Life is Strange 2. In GTA4 Niko was a scumbag but he was at least TRYING to be something better. There's legit moments where he's getting dragged into the darkness and you're just screaming "No Niko, don't do it!" because you actually felt bad for him.

Everyone in GTA5 is just beyond any kind of redemption or sympathy and I hate them all.

I still haven't played RDR2, but the first one made me cry like a wuss so I'm very much hoping it can keep that quality up.

If the first did... the second will for sure.

The whole not being able to play as John at first kinda irked me.. Arthur grew on me. (didn't take too long really)

In 1 you didn't really know the ending, in 2 you KNOW what's coming... Like I said, if the 1st did, the 2nd will for sure. I played up to a point, and stopped the storyline and went around doing side quests and gathering etc... cause I knew If I went further, what happened next was going to be something I didn't want to have happen. (I still have a save just prior to the final quests, cause I had to be able to go back..)

RDR 1/2 are probably my all time favorite games, GTA is fun for a little bit.. but gets old. GTA5... I want to play it, but as others stated the main guys I'd rather kill. As far as Rockstar goes, those are the only two series that I can even get into playing.

My favorite thing to do in GTA is park somewhere and listen to the radio stations. They are the best parts of the games.

Serial killer simulators

the amount of people parked and listening -the outfield: your love- with a dead and beaten hooker nearby is no doubt disturbing

Does anyone know the requirements for starting Blood and Wine expansion in Witcher 3? I never beat the main story and haven’t touched the game in years. If I want to go back and just play the expansion how hard would that be? Can I jump right into it?

I couldn't even finish GTA V because it became so tedious and boring. I will say that I thought the characters and cutscenes were fantastic and they were what motivated me to keep playing.

Trevor in particular became one of my favorite videogame characters.

Over Christmas I got hooked on Elder Scrolls Online. What a freaking cash grab that game is. I bought the Elswyr pack with all the other DLC included for $26. Which is still a great deal until you get into the game and realize there's still a bunch more DLC locked in the crown store or to ESO premium. And it's stuff that most normal elder scrolls players would want to play like thieves guild and dark brotherhood.

With that being said I still enjoy the game, luckily I have a friend that has a bunch of maxed out characters so he's hooking me up constantly. Otherwise the grind is real lol

I could be wrong but I thought you could just jump into it. Been a few years since I’ve played it though.

I've even got you beat, my fave Rockstar game is State of Emergency LoL

Not kidding either. I actually really enjoyed that game. The sequel was absolute crap though.

My main complaint about Rockstar is how their games control. For generally having such shooting heavy games I feel like GTAV and RDR2 just feel terrible to play. RDR2 really ramped up the overly complex controls to interact with the world while basically keeping the same gunplay as 1 with no improvements, and this along with with the tedious "Cores" mechanics are what kept me from getting super far into the game.

I think they hit a decent mix of everything during last gen, as I like RDR1, GTAIV, and Bully more than GTA5 or RDR2. I still like GTA5 though. Really outside of Nico to a degree the series never really had like-able protagonists. The whole world is shit and that's generally the point.

Yeah, thats true especially for Trevor. Nico, Johnny, CJ were definitely better by comparison. Other protags I don't remember as much about since I didn't play them as much. Claude was silent.

On a side note a lot of Online's achievements look like a lot of trouble. Before the heist DLC on 360 I felt like a 100% was more doable. Then again its not like 100% games as much as most people here anyway.

I forgot about State of Emergency, I may have to check it out. I remember hearing that the sequel was garbage. Speaking of forgotten Rockstar games, did anyone here play The Warriors?

Huh, I thought much of that was included in the gold pack which I thought was in those complete packs. I buy the expansion CEs when they're under $30 and play for a bit. There's a lot behind paywall, but there's still plenty to do with the base version.

Insider is worth it for occasional betas and such. I was in beta for a while and never had problems. Delta should be safe.

Holy crap, Wrestle Kingdom night 1 was insane.

I never kill hookers, I do sneak up on elderly people and blast them in the face with my shotgun though. Even in death, Gertrude held on to her grocery bags.

My memory of State of Emergency was working at GameStop when it came out and having 90% of the copies we sold come back within 2 weeks. Everyone thought since it was Rockstar’s first game after GTA 3, it was gonna be awesome.

It was not.

Somebody had posted a pic of a sweet wall mounted storage rack for their controllers. I don’t remember who it was, but if you think I’m talking about you, would you mind reposting the pic? I think I’d like to copy your design

That used to be the way to get them. Back when Summerset was coming out I stopped playing on PS4 and picked up the game on Xbox for the X enhancements. I picked up the Gold version that came with all the guilds, then paid for the Summerset upgrade that came with Morrowind. Unfortunately, many forums are saying the Gold version DLC cards are expired and no longer work, so all the guild stuff is in the Crown Store now. Every once in awhile Crown Store DLC goes on sale and crowns themselves go on sale as pretty often. If you buy crowns and then wait for the DLC sale, you can double dip.

Now for all you fellow CAGs with your backlogs full and ready to continue to collect dust, I have an internet rabbit hole to check out: The music in old games you never knew was copied. This YouTube series has 8 videos

I'll be the guinea pig that finds out about the gold edition of ESO cause I just ordered one from eBay. Some people saying the dlc works, some people saying no. I'll find out soon

Hey, I just like the way it feels.

Also it's hella weird realizing it's Batman and Joker in this one clip.
There's a scene in "Casino", close to the end, were Robert DiNiro is standing for a long time in front of a big neon sign framing him in the background that says "Jokers Wild." Forshadowing is real. I'm happy my Joker 4k steel book is supposed to arrive in couple of days.
