Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I'm really enjoying Battlefront II. Bought mostly for the campaign but the mp is pretty fun though the leveling/unlocking makes it a tad frustrating. At least there is trip xp in some modes this weekend.
It's supposed to be like that. The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking their favorite heroes. You didn't know that?

Some accusations against Gearbox's Randy Pitchford came out earlier that are about as heavy as possible, from the companies former lawyer that is currently suing him and Gearbox. It's adult in nature so I'm spoilering:

https://kotaku.com/former-gearbox-lawyer-accuses-ceo-randy-pitchford-of-ta-1831679539

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/01/gearbox-ceo-allegedly-kept-underage-porn-on-usb-stick-new-lawsuit-alleges/

-$12,000,000 "secret bonus" to basically embezzle funds to himself

-Lost a flash drive with "underage porn" and company secrets on it in 2014, then made the evidence disappear before any copies made or recorded.

-Hosting parties at his home where “adult men have reportedly exposed themselves to minors, to the amusement of Randy Pitchford.”

From what I've seen of him over the years, I think Pitchford is a shithead and honestly wouldn't put it past him to steal money from the company, not after everything we learned about Colonial Marines development and this little number (linked below) from a few months ago. He is also know to lie about stuff and be good at telling these lies since he was/is a professional magician. Look up the bullshit story about Gearbox's name and a poker game on a boat with Gabe Newell to earn it.

That said, the fact that this guy has absolutely zero proof, and put all of this out there at once now, while not reporting either of the sexual things to the police in the past four years screams that he's trying to destroy his reputation with lies out of spite. Even if there was some lawyer confidentiality stuff I can't imagine point three would be covered by it. The opening article is worth looking at for full context, and Gearbox made a response statement that was added to it. Pitchford admitted a few weeks ago on a podcast (recorded before the suit was filed even) that the USB incident did happen, but that the referenced porn was a squirting video of a camgirl named "Only 18". It does sound a bit suspect, but Pitchford says his assistant is the one who got the USB back, and that many other people at Gearbox saw the content including the porn, and doesn't mention what happened to it after that.

I'll wait until actual evidence before fully going on the "He's a pedophile!" train, but I always figured that Gearbox using that Sega money on Borderlands 2 instead of Aliens: Colonial Marines was true enough to believe.

Which TCL do you have? I noticed that HDR on my TCL looked really dull and worse when playing RDR2 so I turned it off. Curious if HDR is just not great on the TCL. I have to double check but I believe I have the 55" 4 series?
On my TCL 6-series I have to turn the in-game brightness way down on every HDR game. Once I do that they look fantastic.

All the heroes are unlocked except two and the the next two that are going to be released. I was speaking more to the mod/cards for troopers. Not a huge issue with 3x XP but a hell of a grind without.

Is Plant vs zombies Garden Warfare 2 still active with a good community? Is Darksiders Definitive Edition worth getting over the free copy that I have for 360 backwards compatible from Games with Gold?
I would say that Tribalnoise may be incorrect about the 360 version of Darksiders being better than the Warmastered edition on One. For awhile the two games were visually similar thanks to the Xbox One X patch of the 360 game. Now I'm not sure if the game was originally 720p or 1080p on 360. If it was 720p then the patch would make it 1440p on Xbox One X, not 4k but still better than the 1080p that the Warmastered edition was running. However the Xbox one version runs at 60 fps and the backwards compatible is only 30 fps. The old comparison can be seen here:

https://youtu.be/tzgnm-952hg

But all of this may have changed with the Xbox One X patch for the Warmastered edition that arrived in November. That patch made the game 4k and 60 fps. I have not seen a comparison now that both games have X patches.

But I noticed you said Definitive edition, did you mean Deathinitive edition? As in Darksiders 2? Because while that game is BC it did not receive a Xbox One X patch, but the Xbox One Version of the game is slated to receive one soon

Can we no longer get Xbox One Games with Gold that are for other countries such as Japan, Singapore, etc?

Right now it's Cobalt, but it doesn't seem to show up as free for me using a browser.

I died 29 times in the first chapter of Celeste. I loved how it didn't punish at all, instant respawns.

I bought the ESO Summerset CE from Newegg for $20, despite barely opening my Morrowind CE I got from Amazon price glitch. Physical backlog manifesting.

Am I missing a code that brings that CE down to $20? I may be interested at that price.

EDIT: I see it.

Played the RE 2 demo last night. Pretty intense. Probably should finish RE 7 before I get a new one though. On a side note, didn’t see any HDR issues with it on my TCL P607.

I reinstalled RE7, I want to finish it in case any new references about it are added in 2. I was going to replay the original 2 as well but I'm not sure I'll have time with class starting back up next week.

Picked up Full Spectrum Warrior and Destroy All Humans for the price of a sammich. Why haven't they added any more OG games to BC in forever?

I died 29 times in the first chapter of Celeste. I loved how it didn't punish at all, instant respawns.

I bought the ESO Summerset CE from Newegg for $20, despite barely opening my Morrowind CE I got from Amazon price glitch. Physical backlog manifesting.
*Stares longingly at the ceiling, knowing that this is upstairs bought at launch still sealed*

Man I wanna buy AC Odyssey finally but looks like I missed it being on sale which ended 01-04... crap! I wonder how long it'll be before it's 40 or 50% off again? Would like to get the Gold or Ultimate edition but not at full price if I can help it :(

They said from the outset that OGBC would be more limited than 360 BC. I imagine long-expired license agreements and long-dead publishers/devs play a significant role in that.

I’d be surprised if the OGBC list ever reaches 100 games.

why would there be references? 2 takes place like 20 years before 7
They've definitely done it before. I wouldn't expect much other than a file or something, but it's certainly possible. Like when they ported RE2 to the N64 they added references to RE0 that was at the time planned for the same system. And I believe REmake had some references to later games added.

Anyone know the trick to getting the Pinball FX2 tables from the Xbox 360 to show up in Pinball FX2 on Xbox One?  I've already purchased them on the 360, but it's not allowing me to import the ones that I bought on 360 nor can I purchase them again on the Xbox One.  I'm talking about the Bethesda, Aliens, and Balls of Fury packs.  Thanks in advance for any constructive suggestions that anyone provides.

Standard edition is $30 at amazon and target currently.

Someone a few pages back was able to provide links to the Xbox One versions where it shows you own them, then you can click install to your Xbox.

I was able to get Bethesda pack into Pinball FX2 but not the marvel pack. And I can't get them to import into Pinball FX3 either.

The 360>X1 table transfer still works for me. Make sure your home X1 console settings allow remote download installations. Purchase the 360 tables and then go to the Microsoft website for the X1 version of the tables. You'll be able to click "install on my devices" and it will add it to your X1 queue.

I just did this for the Aliens, Balls of Glory and Bethesda packs. I couldn't find the X1 table packs by searching the MS website but the links are on storeparser.

X1 versions on MS website:
Aliens vs Pinball
Balls of Glory
Bethesda

I assume this also works for the Marvel and Star Wars tables that are on sale this week as well. Don't know for sure because I already own them on 360 and X1.
Found it for the person asking, on my phone don't know how to multi quote

At first I regretted getting the Game of the Year edition of Shadow of Mordor, because God the main game kinda drags, but then the DLC introduced being able to ride on a troll thing and vomit on enemies to death and when archer orc's are on a higher platform I like to think they're on a stage and this is the worst and most nightmare version of a wet t-shirt contest ever. I'm glad I got it now. Video games are fun.

And everyone complaining about Celeste makes me want to play Celeste now. I Have eight controllers and nothing to lose.

I tried that method with the links, and they still won't download remotely even with the setting changed to reflect that on my Xbox One. The only tables that show up are the Zen Pinball, Marvel, South Park, and Star Wars tables that were already there. The Bethesda, Fox, and Aliens table still show that they're not available for purchase even though I bought them on my 360.

According to Eurogamer, 360 Darksiders resolution was 1152x648 instead of the 720p (1280x720) most 360 games ran at. X enhancing it increases the pixels 9x (3x the original) therefore the X enhanced 360 Darksiders resolution is 3456x1944.

Also for the record, X enhancing 360 games with 720p resolution perfectly renders the native resolution to 4k (2160p).

You are correct. Some reason I was thinking it was a 4x resolution bump. Darksiders would be a good one for a Digital Foundry comparison. The only difference between the Xbox One X and 360 version seems to be 60 fps vs 30 fps.... maybe shadows and lighting?

I don't know if this points out just how amazing Enhanced BC is or how minimal some remasters are...

Well having played the X enhanced 360 Darksiders it uses a lot of prerendered cutscenes that are low resolution compared to the 4kish resolution of the game. Curious if the Xbox One port has higher resolution prerendered cutscenes or if the cutscenes are rendered in real time at the higher resolution.

Try links from trueachievements. You can look at the dlc and find table packs, some of which did not work since they were delisted (Marvel and SW I noticed in particular), but you can also find individual tables and just do each one individually. Worked for me for Deadpool, Civil War, SW R1, SW Rebels, Bethesda, etc. May work for 3 as well? Dunno, they have all shown up in 3, except there is a green down arrow on them and when I select download table it takes me to a page for the pack. But if you manage Pinball in you games and apps they are all in the ready to download section.

I tried that method with the links, and they still won't download remotely even with the setting changed to reflect that on my Xbox One. The Bethesda, Fox, and Aliens table still show that they're not available for purchase even though I bought them on my 360.
It worked for me on all three of those. Did it give you an option window and you selected the xbox and clicked download? Some browsers have some issues with xbox.com. Try the links on Trueachievements instead, perhaps?

So I got an X for Xmas and a 6 TB drive. Couldn't get network transferring to work so I started manually copying games from my internal and my 2TB external to the 6TB all on the original xbone. I would queue up a bunch (maybe 30) at a time and when it was done set up the next batch. Now that everything is on one drive I have found that several games just disappeared. They are neither on the new drive or the old one. Just gone. Click on my pins for them and I'm prompted to download them. Look at the games list and they're under ready to install, not installed. Is this a common issue?

I just may have to jump back into this game then.

I can't find the links in true achievements. I'm thinking this savings wasn't worth the days of trouble trying to get them into FX3

I had a lot of fun with the base game but need to go back and play the DLC. I got frustrated because one of the story achievements glitched and didn't unlock, if it weren't for that I'd have all the achievements besides the DLC ones.

Maybe it will be my next backlog clean up since I have it physically. I just started the DLC for ghost recon wildlands so I can trade the disc in, forgot about the fun I had just doing random stuff in that game.

Regarding the Game Pass Quests - it's great that they're giving us points for completing the quests but why so many different quests with games I won't be able to finish just trying to get all the points? I cant' even enjoy the games anymore.

Strange Brigade - You can get the Earn the Queensbury Rule, ok? achievement pretty quickly by playing Horde mode. You have to press RB to do a melee attack. It was kinda awkward but I got it on the third wave. This will complete one part of the Strange Brigade quest and net you 25 points. It will also check off the "shooters" task under the "Endless Play" Quest.

The "Play Something New" quest might have a glitch. I have not received 100 points even though it was checked off as completed. I sent an email to MS support to look into it.

For the "Endless Play" quest -> Sports and Racing, I played Hydro Thunder but for some reason I did not get an achievement for winning a race. I should have gotten it for "Earning a bronze or better in any Single Player Event." I'll try it with a X1 title instead of a BC title.

These links will work for the remote download trick if you click on them using the Microsoft Edge browser on your Xbox One. When I tried it from my PC, it didn't work. But maybe it recognized them on the Xbox One since it was being requested on the actual device that the games were being downloaded to. I would recommend that anyone who is having trouble to try this method. My Aliens vs Pinball, Balls of Glory, and Bethesda tables are downloading right now as we speak.

Edit: When I logged into Zen PInball 2, all of the Aliens vs Pinball, Balls of Glory, and Bethesda tables were there. So, this method should work for anyone who isn't using (or interested in) Zen Pinball 3.

As has been mentioned, there is an assist mode, and I think we're getting to a place where enabling easy modes and the like are becoming less stigmatized.
The shear volume of games available now give people far less time to focus on perfecting their skills at any single game. And life moves decidely faster with many, many more distractions for our time vs. the early years of video games. Also, an aging population of Gen 1 gamers that have families and barely enough time to complete a game with assist mode on ... much less at full difficulty. Seems a win-win when the option is there and the game's difficulty can be tweaked for everyone's individual needs.

Anyone that stigmatizes using an assist mode is likely not holding down a full-time career and raising children ...

To piggyback on that notion, I think that gamers fall into two groups nowadays - gamers who play to be challenged and gamers who play to relax. If people want to be challenged while playing a game, there is a sense of accomplishment that comes from beating a difficult game or a difficult section of a game. But, I play to relax. My life is difficult enough as it is. I don't enjoy games that are so difficult that I can't progress in them without replaying the same stage over and over. I feel like a hamster on a running wheel Monday through Friday, but at least I'm getting paid for that. If I sit down to enjoy a game, I want to feel like a superhero or a god or whatever that character is. I try a game on normal mode, and then, if I'm not making any significant progress, I will play on easy or casual or whatever the next step down is. I'm not ashamed of that fact. I don't have anything to prove to anyone. Anyone who thinks less of me for that can kiss my ass. I paid for the game, so I would like to see as much of it as I can to get my money's worth out of it.

I couldn't get Split/Second to track the last time it was an option for a quest a few months back and that was the only BC title I used for that card iirc. I still have a few somewhat easy to obtain locked achievements in it that I might try to unlock before working on some of my more pita Onrush ones.

Welp, my refurb 360 is actually not great. I hadn't used it for more than 10 minutes other than to rip discs and test out the disc drive.

Used it last night for a few hours, and after about 60-90 minutes, the display starts to get a horizontal split at the bottom of the screen that slowly creeps up. I thought it was a problem with the game I was playing, but it was on the dashboard too. Rebooting made it go away, and then it came back again within 90 minutes or so. Still haven't received my rebate, so I may just try to return or exchange.

Why do people take such bad care of their stuff? I know the 360 hardware was a little more fragile than other consoles, but the number of busted, dysfunctional systems that are out there now make it actually pretty hard to find a reliable system now.
Well, it seems I misjudged my premium refurbished console. The TV I was using on my trip had a box hooked up to it for the internet and routing HDMI connections, and it appears that that was the issue with the screen tearing. I've been using the back-up system on my TCL and zero problems.

I finished one of the game pass quest punch cards but after looking over the others, I have no desire to mess with them especially since there are so many guests and games to sift through. If they would have only put out half of these for a month then it wouldn’t seem so overwhelming. Can’t help but think this is a way for them to push people into playing Gamepass games. I got some games I wanted during the holidays and that’s my priority. Far Cry 5 is awesome and Bioshock Infinite is beautiful and much better than I had heard. No, it’s not the same as the first two but still an intriguing story.

For anyone that’s played Deus Ex:HR, is it better to play the DLC in chronological order in the campaign or should I leave it until after I finish the game?

The DLC comes in about 3/4 into the game storyine wise. In all honesty it's all pretty forgettable. There's small nods to older Deus Ex games in there and can remap some of your augmentations, but really doesn't factor much if at all into the overall storyline of the main game.

Guilty. And while I'm on the job hunt, I play games even less. There's this overwhelming need to be successful and provide. Gaming is the outlet to relax- but it's only relaxing if I've earned it through hard work
