Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Also, I learned that you can redeem for items in games even if you don’t yet own them. It gives you a warning that you need the game to take advantage of the reward but does allow you to do it. So I went through and spent all my expiring points on items for the games I plan to start next.
Also, there are several freebies scattered throughout the dozen or so games they have listed.

It's not nit-picky to desire the best when there are multiple versions available of varying degrees of quality.
It's pretty nitpicky when the base game is only $9 and people are acting like it's not even worth touching because it's 900p and are advising others to skip it like it's unplayable trash though.

So I guess the Rewards app quests just disappear even though some never recognized the right amount achievements? I got 21 achievements yesterday in GamePass games and  it only registered the first 6 and now the quest is not even on the app anymore. I like where they are taking rewards but it needs major work still.

how does that work if you have both a PS4 and XBox One? Which ever console fires up the game first? I have South Park Fractured But Whole installed on my XBox One but haven't started it. Guess I could load it up tonight and then redeem everything for that.

Some of those items are the pre-order bonuses, too... so for AC Odyssey you can get the Blind King DLC and for AC Origins you can get the Secrets of the First Pyramids DLC, even though you're picking the game up way after release.

On a personal note, I kind of like that method: If you preordered the game, you get access to that stuff right away for no effort, and if you're picking it up later you can still get it for no money out-of-pocket, but you have to "earn" it by progressing in the game. Incentivizes the pre-order without pulling the BS "if you don't preorder you'll never get to play this content" they used to do.

Apex tweet
I have a lot of fun with Apex but I need to take a break and play something else at least until the battle pass comes out. Was going for all the achievements to add some goals for myself besides trying to win and have two left and only one will be annoying.

Gamers complain about these games then sign up for them in mass.
I have a theory that the online complainers about video games/politics/whatever else, are actually the vocal minority.

I haven't liked any of the other BR games, but Apex Legends has its hooks in me, I am level 25 on PC now and 23 on Xbox. I love that it has no down time. You drop hot and lose in 30 seconds, just jump right back in and your in a match again within another minute. I'm sure if they lose players that time will get longer, but for now it's been great finding matches. Occasionally I will have a teammate disconnect or something but for the most part it's been great.

how does that work if you have both a PS4 and XBox One? Which ever console fires up the game first? I have South Park Fractured But Whole installed on my XBox One but haven't started it. Guess I could load it up tonight and then redeem everything for that.
After picking what game you want to spend them on, there's a drop down menu to pick what console version you want to use them on. All available console versions will show, not just ones you've used, so you can pick and choose where the reward goes.

Thanks. I grabbed all the AC Odyssey stuff as I started that game on XBox over a month ago. It didn't ask. Wasn't sure how it would work with a game I didn't start. Will go through in a bit and grab everything for South Park FBW on Xbox.

Same, I'm surprised they didn't have one near ready when they launched. I expected it after about two weeks. I keep seeing speculation EA might have tried to push the game out the door to soften the blow of Anthem's impending botched reception. I don't know if I buy that.

I think Apex has drawn in a lot of players that weren't big on battle royale before so a good amount of people are having a lot of fun with just the gameplay and basic skins and stuff. For me I've just gotten used to grinding challenges for over a year on Fortnite, had the year(?) of basic PUBG gameplay (and bad optimization) before that, and am honestly a bit burned out on cosmetic lootboxes after Overwatch/Gears 4/Halo 5. While Apex is very fun, I just think I need some kind of progression or whatever to go with it.

If anyone played the Black Desert beta, enjoyed it, but didn't want to buy the prelaunch edition, the base game with no frills is out now for $9.99. It's a really grindy game, but being an MMO, you'll still get a lot of content. There aren't many console MMOs to choose from anyway, and this one is pretty at least.

Don't forget that if you play alot of Ubisoft games you most likely have "units" from played games and at end of this month said "units" will expire.

https://welcome.club.ubisoft.com/
Just curious where you are seeing that these units are expiring? Can’t find anything about that. I have 610 to burn.

Edit: just found this. Looks like it’s only the ones that you earned two years ago that expire. Then they will continue to roll off 24 months after you earned them.

“What are the new rules linked to Club Units?
Beginning April 1, 2019, you have 24 months to redeem the Club Units you acquired through your gaming experience or by making eligible purchases on the Ubisoft Store.

After 24 months, these Club Units will expire and will automatically disappear from your Ubisoft Account. Each time you redeem Club Units, the oldest Club Units will be redeemed first.

When does this new rule go into effect?
There is a transition period: you have from now until March 31, 2019 to redeem the Club Units you acquired on or before March 31, 2017.

As an example, if you had 60 Club Units in your account as of March 31, 2017, those are redeemable until March 31, 2019. The Club Units you choose not to redeem will expire on April 1, 2019.

On April 1, 2019, the new rule comes into full effect: on the last day of each month, any unredeemed Units that are more than 2 years old will expire.

Not much of a theory when it's the truth. Twitter and pretty much every online forum/community will always be the minority.

I saw speculation/leaked info with the new character leaks that the battle pass was going to come on the 15th but not sure how valid that info is. If that's the case I'd imagine they'd announce it some time this week though. I know I've said it before but I'm very curious to see how they do the pass and whether it's mostly lootboxes as rewards, if they'll give specific battle pass cosmetics as rewards like the other games, or a mix of both.

I wasn't big of fortnite, played a match or two when it first came out and then about an hour during the thanos event and stopped when I got a win, think the building aspect just wasn't my thing. PUBG I enjoy but only when playing with friends, think it can get too tense playing alone/with randoms. Apex I'm enjoying playing solo and think the fact that it's more fast paced and that I've played a ton of titanfall 1 and 2 helps.

I’ve been playing in a group on PC and solo on Xbox. Don’t take this offensively but when I play solo on PC my teammates are almost always better at the game then when I’m solo on Xbox. I would love to play with a few of you on Xbox to get wins with characters I don’t have wins with yet.

The other night I was trying to get a win with Lifeline, I got paired with 2 guys that had matching clan tags so I thought they might be good. Nope, they were awful, wandering around not picking up better armor when I would ping it, etc. I downed two squads by myself but one of them was the 2nd to last squad so then the last squad downed us while I was healing my shields after the previous fight. I only blame myself, I should have taken off running to get to cover after that 2nd to last fight before healing.

I would love to play with some CAGs and see if we can knock out achievements. GT: DonkenG

Oh, I burned through my Ubi units because, oh well. Got some Odyssey rewards among them because like you I'll likely buy at some price point despite barely touching Origins yet.

ok if you're having trouble with twitter embedding on this site:

on desktop chrome: go to settings > scroll down to advanced >in "privacy" click on content settings > cookies > Allow > put in platform.twitter.com

firefox: make sure you don't have a shield symbol in your address bar next to the lock. If you do, firefox is blocking it and you need to disable it for this site.

mobile: if your mobile browser has any tracking protection, you might have to disable it or see if you can whitelist sites.

to buy or not to buy Black Desert? anyone play it? $10 dont seem too bad for it
I dabbled a little on the PC and tried the beta, but I had a friend that went off the deep end with it. It's your standard mmo-fare through and through. The issue that arises is when you start getting to endgame stuff. The way to progress is to constantly upgrade your gear, which requires (1) a ton of grinding, (2) rare materials, and (3) the willingness to risk losing your stuff when the upgrade fails. That being said, no idea if any of that has been re-balanced recently in general or for the Xbox version.

Edit: I forgot to mention some of this can be circumvented by sinking money into it. However, it gets really pricey after a bit.

DoA6 update: They've changed the costume unlock launch bonus (that runs until March 14) to be 100x the normal rate.  At 100x it feels normal.

Apex: I have every achievement except for the gold armor+helmet one (rarely find either).  Waiting on the battle pass.

A friend had his Xbox console die and was looking for the cheapest Xbox One S without going the pre-owned route... seems like there aren't any great deals right now, does anyone expect a big discount on consoles around Easter or sooner? I might try and convince him to wait it out, although he is surprisingly into Fallout 76 right now and may not want to be away for too long. Best I've seen is around $210 from Amazon warehouse for a "damaged packaging" bundle with BFV.

Reminder that today is another chance to get a 7 Day Game Pass code from Oreo. You don't need to have a cookie, you don't need to allow camera access. There will be an option to play without using your camera.

Does anyone else have issues with this website? I think 3 of the 5 days I've tried it I get a server connection message and it tells me to refresh the page to try again. After filling out the info again and going to twist the oreo for the first time it says "there's only one twist per a day" so I don't get a reward.

The other night I was trying to get a win with Lifeline, I got paired with 2 guys that had matching clan tags so I thought they might be good.
I've had the same experience. Twice I've been matched up with people with matching clan tags. The first match they played like they had never played before even though they were around level 10. The second time I was the second person to choose my character and they both disconnected as soon as the game started because the clan tag guy that had to choose third wanted to play as the character I chose.

Neither of those times were as frustrating as the other day when the jump master landed in the blue circle so it was crazy and I got killed because the container I landed at only had a pistol. The person that decided to land there ran over to my crate and looked back and forth like they were shaking their head "no" while the other guy just kept looting. It was satisfying to watch them get wiped a minute later.

I usually play at not the best hours, usually between 11pm and 3am eastern, and can't use a mic at that time but am on top of pinging so feel free to add me if you want: Braiiins

Nice, looks like an easy task. I'm glad they did away with specific achievements.

I picked it up so far it seems alright, this "node" system and hiring workers is a bit confusing but I'm early. Ha i totally would of waited one more extra day for the $9.99 version if I realized that was going to be an option, but I guess I get a month of buffs. It's been a long time since I've tried anything even MMO ish and it's been funny watching everyone camp the spawns these first few quests lines, ha the good old days.

Ha I didnt buy it because it was $30 now im def in for this appreciate it, been wanting to dabble with this game.
Yeah I'd say it's pretty safe for $9.99 and no monthly fee, if you have any interest at all.

Shame on this thread for pushing me to purchase Ass Odyssey gold. I’ve barely touched origins and haven’t finished one since Black Flag but the value just nags at me.
I'm in the same boat as far as my games played / progression goes for assassins creed games but have been playing Odyssey since last week and am loving it!

Same here. Not sure what to do to fix it

I've been playing through Thomas Was Alone, and I can easily suggest it for the ID@Xbox title as well. Relatively easy platforming gameplay, easy achievements, and looks like most people complete it. Plus, really good storytelling.

#IDARB is also stupid fast it seems, just did 10 achievements in like 20 mins. Tracked instantly and already have the 400 points in my account.

Anyone else not having achievements pop during game? They still show up as completed, but they don't show up during gameplay.

Horse armor is Oblivion would like a word with you.
Be careful, Oblivion's horse armor has been taking steroids
