Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I Have so many thoughts on the Sonic movie trailer. 80% of which involve Pornhub sponsored musician, Coolio. So Weird Al doing a parody of his song is bad and disrespectful. Yet CG hedgehog...totally gets the message?

Wikipedia quote.
And yes, that is exactly what it was. Link was provided.
It was how that quote was presented that was the issue and then someone followed up with a pepe the frog meme. It was a pretty hard turn right.

I mean nothing starts a discussion off better than opening with a wiki quote to ‘prove’ that Africans and responsible for their own 250 years of enslavement in this country and then everything that followed from Reconstruction to Jim crow etc.

It’s what people with a poor understanding of the world do to justify their bad positions/beliefs. They find one thing and misconstrue it and twist and eliminate all other facts that follow so they can think they are the rational ones or the educated ones. And yes I can acknowledge that people from all walks do confirmation bias just some of them don’t try to use it to justify racisim, sexism, slavery or deny the holocaust.

Look let’s get back to Xbox deals. I have $40 in my wallet from rewards etc and now I want to buy shit, but in the back of my head I am think its better to just extend Gamepass and Gold as far as I can.

I was really hoping Omensight would eventually hit the Xbox and I can’t understand why it isn’t.

Other than it not being BC (yet?), can anyone give me a decent-to-good reason not to buy Black Knight Sword for :360: ?  That game has been cheap several times in the past but I haven't pulled the trigger on it.

Sonic games re on Xbox, so here's an OT trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvvZaBf9QQI

The CG is reminiscent of Venom, where it looks okay but doesn't blend into live-action the way MCU has pretty much mastered it (or the Detective Pikachu trailer, for that matter). The trailer itself reminds me of those heavy-production-budget fan trailers that were really common in the 2000s, like the fake Robin solo movie Grayson.

I think giving Sonic the Roger Rabbit treatment vs having him primarily interact in a CG world or with other CG characters is not a great plan.

First off, Black Desert on GwG saves me the $10 I was going to spend to try it out. (add to backlog really cause my new job is making me not care for gaming again)

Spoiler so it lessens the offensive stuff!

And thats where everything was taken out of context... and correct the meme didnt help.

Cause thats not what I said, nor the point. (which also proves your point.) The fact that people didn't actually read the quote, just stopped at one line and one word. and assumed the worst.

If I cut/paste the whole thing.. it would have been worse, so I left it intact and provided the links.

But it's all good, cause everyone just assumes i'm white. :shame:

It's really hard achievement wise? It's interesting though, I don't think they game plays well but it's just as weird as anything else Suda51 does if you're into his style.

It’s Rebel Galaxy that people wanted to go on sale as a space game right? Not Starpoint Gemini?
Rebel Galaxy. It has never gone on sale. Starpoint Gemini sees plenty of sales. Which did I buy at full price upon release? Yep, Starpoint Gemini. And I'm the same guy that bought the Borderlands remaster at full price a few weeks ago to see it drop to $20 now. I'm done buying at full price. fuck supporting developers.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. Rebel Galaxy looks more my speed. Not really into 4x strategy.

Against my CAG instincts, I may need to suck it up and buy RG at full price only to watch it go on sale the next day.

dont be like that, you have single handedly helped so many in the community.

Infact, I dont know how *you* personally feel about it, but I think you qualify to wear your underwear on top of your spandex and done a cape.

Regardless, we salute you, oh mighty superhero - buyer of games at full price, first of his name, bringer of sales and so forth....

I think giving Sonic the Roger Rabbit treatment vs having him primarily interact in a CG world or with other CG characters is not a great plan.

dont be like that, you have single handedly helped so many in the community.

Infact, I dont know how *you* personally feel about it, but I think you qualify to wear your underwear on top of your spandex and done a cape.

Regardless, we salute you, oh mighty superhero - buyer of games at full price, first of his name, bringer of sales and so forth....
Your sarcasm is funny, but the original comment is poignant. I would have absolutely purchased Borderlands 1 GOTY version for $30 on day one, but I have been trained by quick sales of new games to wait. I realize it's not new, but the point stands. MK11 is already on sale at a lot of retailers.

Why do Nintendo games hold their value? It's not because the discs are more precious. It's because Nintendo treats them more special than putting them on sale all the time, etc.

Slowly, these companies are training us to wait until games are cheaper, free on a service, etc. rather than paying full price or higher prices. I don't fully understand if the publishers and platforms know what they're doing and are clever or are cannibalizing themselves in the process.

I know; and the import isnt lost on me. I feel like I had similar sentiments a few days ago when MK11 dropped its price too. I dont mean to mock anyone, just that it's become all too common where joking about it is all that's left.

I didn't take your comment as mocking me. I found it humorous. I feel like an Avenger in spandex now.

I Just want a scene where those hands are tenderly caressing someone's face. For, uh, research. Yeah, research...

Your first point ("training us to wait...") really only applies to knowledgeable consumers. They pay attention to sales, spend their money wisely, etc. That's probably a small minority. This doesn't apply to the average consumer.

Companies that continually lower prices are more focused on bringing in total $s. Everyone has a different threshold for what they consider a "value" for the game. So companies release something at $60, and let those willing to spend $60 buy it. Then they drop the price to $50 to capture the market segment that was not willing to spend $60 but would be ok with $50. Repeat at $40, etc., etc. If they constantly leave their prices at $50-60, then they would lose all those consumers (and all that $$$) at the $20-49 range. So I wouldn't say they're cannibalizing at all. They're just focused on moving as many units as possible to capture as large a market share as possible.

While that is one philosophy, Nintendo focuses on a different one, preferring to give their games a premium image in the minds of the consumers. They're a totally different animal, imo.

I'm excited for Wargroove and For the King on Gamepass.
I was interested in these two for Switch but I will play them on Xbox instead.

Can someone, fan or not, explain to me why among all the video games out that are super popular like Mario, Zelda, fallout, elder scrolls, grand theft auto, red dead, god of war and on and on the list goes of more popular interesting stories...back to the question...why they’re making a Sonic movie?

Oh and how they got actual actors B list to maybe even arguably sub A list caliber?

Who's the A lister in the movie? I Argue Jim Carrey is closest, but he hasn't been an A lister in over a decade and Cyclops gotta eat!

And Mario has an interesting story?? Regardless, he already had a movie and has an animated one coming out in 2021 (apparently something going on behind the scenes with Zelda as well, but who knows). Besides that everything else on your list comes down to budget and the fact that majority of those things you listed either are held too close to the chest by the developer/publisher or really financially too risky because majority of those are M rated titles and easier to make money with a family film. Even then I question why do any of those games need movies? Games these past two generations already give a cinematic experience so why do I need to see a dumbed down version in the cinema of a 30+ hour game?

I suppose being educated about pricing means something and it's easier to be sensitive about it when you're educated, however, I definitely know of those who are not educated who notice the extremes (which are more frequent now) and have begun questioning their purchases and their own purchasing habits.

I already bought Wargroove on Switch but For the King will be a demo of sorts for me. If I like something on gamepass and it is available on Switch and is a good port I am willing to pay for it for portability and sharing.

Love gamepass but I can’t lug an X around with me

Got my free month of Game Pass from the Spy Master Rewards quest. Glad MS finally got the tracking sorted out after the debacle last time.

Anyone interested in Mudrunner from playing it on Game Pass (it's still on there), it's cheaper the buy the base game and DLC separately ($13.75 total) versus the package ($16.00).

Odd pricing.

Also, they released a third free DLC for it today.

Did they send you a code or just apply it directly to your account?

Generally, if it's a live-action adaptation, it's going to be bad (Mario Bros., Doom, Assassin's Creed, most of the Resident Evil films). Or if it's good, it relies too heavily on the source material (latest Tomb Raider) to the point it's like playing the game and feels unnecessary.

After Spider-Verse, I think Sonic could work well as an animated film with a similar art style and it would maybe be fun to watch. This trailer looks like a bad kids movie.

Last Tomb Raider movie (which is somehow getting a sequel) didn't have her yelling "PEEK A BOO!" like me in a high pitched voice when I stealth murdered someone. So it was already lacking. Also the other weird growing problem I never forsaw is alot of these big new franchise tentpoles seem to be financed by China and man, it shows and it bogs so many of these movies down even more.

Isn't there already a Sonic cartoon on Cartoon Network? And I gotta admit, I want the Sonic movie to be terrible and I want it to succeed only so I can get an edgy black hedgehog with chest hair and a gun and rollerblades and a 3 foot tall bat with large boobs in the next movie and then the world will explode because nothing makes sense anymore.

No, they just refuse to ever put them on sale or drop prices on most of them.
This was exactly my point. Nintendo doesn't put their stuff on sale (very often) and people accept that's how it is because Nintendo treats their merchandise differently. People don't expect a Mario or Zelda game to be $20 a few months after release because that's what games do because they know it's a Nintendo game. Other platforms or publishers don't do this and people expect (and see) price drops and sales pretty quickly.

No, it's because they refuse to do sales. They put their Switch games on sale at most once per year and even then, it's at maybe 30% off at most. That's just for their biggest games, as their smaller stuff never goes on sale and if you want the DLC, it never happens. Nobody has any reason to buy 1-2 Switch for $50 in 2019, but it'll never drop below that unless they decide to do a GH line and include it on there. The Wii U wasn't so lucky, so most of their big games are still $60 and those that haven't made it off of the Switch are rotting in digital hell because Wii U eShop sales on big games are pretty much over at this point. That's not a good thing. Sony and Microsoft are at least willing to try to maximize sales of their best and worst games by putting them on sale at appealing prices.

Grabbed that war game, something “4”.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is lowest ever...that any good? Heading over to check YouTube.

On Nintendo, I buy all my Switch games physically because I know I can sell them once the Switch 2 comes out. With Xbox I buy digital unless disc is way cheaper or when I had GCU. Xbox I have the expectation that the Xbox 2 will be backwards compatible. With Nintendo I’m not even sure if my Switch broke and I had to buy a new one, I think all my digital purchases are gone, right?

Nintendo has the best games for a wide audience. My wife has been playing Yoshis Crafted World almost nightly since it came out. They just have that Disney quality but in video game form so they know they can charge for it. When you look at the family friendly Xbox section it looks pathetic compared to Nintendo’s library of family games. With Switch my kids can play anything we have in the cabinet, with Xbox my M rated games outweigh my E games. It’s like how Disney movies have value but old R rated movies can be found for $5 or less.

How's the first Turok? I only ever played 2 (I think?) on the 64 and then it was mostly just messing around in multiplayer. Hope they discount 2 as much as the first one soon.

Assassin's Creed
It was probably too late in the movies production when they figured out people didn't like the modern day stuff compared to the olde tyme stuff. It's been a while since I've seen it but I feel like the movie would've been a lot better if they followed that route and took out the modern day story line.

Yeah I think Comic Jumper is pretty good, a couple of the levels are kind of a miss but has that Twisted Pixel humor. It does have "The Brad" song that will always be a video game highlight the first time I played it.
It's "Brad".
Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
It's "Brad".
Brad Brad Brad Brad Br Br Br Brad Brad Braaaaaad.
And he's bad to the bone.

It always makes me happy to see a video game with humor so I had a blast with Comic Jumper. Since Chris Sabat was part of the cast, I was hoping they would do something with anime/manga.

Why are you looking at this? You should be downloading Comic Jumper.

I agree that the gameplay can get repetitive, but I still had more fun with this than the Splosion Man games.

Interesting timing with this game being free as Free Comic Book Day is in 4 days.

So is there a "good" alternative to Storeparser? I went to see the price history of the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection only to find no entry at all on Storeparser. Searching "Hitman" on Storeparser gave me lots of results, but mostly for Hitman and Hitman 2. Searching for it with bing using "site:storeparser.com" that almost always gives me the link I want, only gave me a link to the home page without a single other search result.

I wish there was....a member here used to run xbldb.com that was pretty tight, but that looks even deader than SP

It’s a code. You have to “buy” it for 0 points from a box below the daily set on your rewards page, then it’ll email you a code like a standard rewards purchase.
Mine did not show up below the daily set, I had to go to the redeem page to find it. So if you don't see it on the main page, try there.

You know, I was an 80s Genesis kid. I grew up with Sonic. Later, some of my favorites were the Sonic Adventure games on Dreamcast (Though I still haven't picked up Sonic Mania on Xbox One). I'm actually okay with this new Sonic movie. The movie is definitely directed at kids. 8 year old me would probably be freaking out in excitement. But that's just it, OG Sonic fans are greying and moving out of the target market. Sega needs new blood to keep the brand popular. This film is directed at a new generation, it's not meant for us. They are passing the golden rings to today's youth.

It's their turn to go fast

You made all my points for me. Those games, even though they are more relevant in sales, current sequels and success don’t need movies. The world surely doesn’t need this Sonic shit. I might argue that James Marsden is sub A list for his HBO work and X-men.

i know i shouldnt buy NIER  i should wait for a better sale....but i kinda wanna buy it but i know i will never play it anytime soon so i should wait....i think
