Wait, people didn't like Doom? I Legit loved that game and the stupid crazy power trip of everything existing to either be blown up or torn apart. Suffice to say now I'm intrigued to play Rage 2 that I got from awhile back a little sooner. Rage 2 you just got bumped up to 2021from my backlog!

And almost done with Bloodstained, deciding if I want to grind out some of those achievements, but probably won't knowing I got other games waiting.
Doom 2016 starts slow but yes, it's excellent. Legitimately surprised to see folks saying they couldn't get into it, I preordered Doom Eternal as a result.

I wasnt a fan of the newer doom but I totally see the appeal it had for people. Can't really explain why but just wasn't my cup of tea. I think it's more that mostly what I've been playing has been really story driven and the doom story is.... Fairly irrelevant? Idk. I hope that Rage 2 isn't super doom like as I bought rage 2 and was excited to play it after hearing it was developed by the Mad Max crew which I was surprised to enjoy.

Either way right now I'm playing Death Stranding and will be finishing up Outer Worlds once I complete it.

Played a little more Rage 2. It's literally Mad Max and Doom mixed together and nothing more. World is copy and pasted from Mad Max with Doom thrown in and combat is copy and pasted from doom. I disliked both games.

However, even though this game has A TON of filler, I like it more than both games and I think it does what they did better. Just overall more fun to play. Definitely think its worth giving it a try.

Started my corporate and selfish playthrough of Outer Worlds, been fun. Bruiser and snoop. Will turn myself in at the first opportunity.

Full Gear last night was great. Main event was insane, I'm watching it again and cringing even more. 38 minutes of brutality.

Eagerly awaiting Metal Wolf Chaos going on sale. Happy to get Fallen Order this week. Time to read the books and get all psyched for Star Wars.

I'm sad Rage 2 was bad, glad I cancelled my pre-order. I was hoping like Bulletstorm with combat more like Doom.

So what’s everyone currently playing?

I finally finished the main story of borderlands 3 and working my way thru the side quests. The story wasn’t great, some of the voice acting and dialogue was just bad. It’s a bit disappointing after enjoying 2 so much but it still plays well and was fun cooping my way through it with my brother.

Replaying Skyrim again on switch. No matter how many hours I put in to it across pc 360 x1 and now switch I always find new stuff I’ve done or seen before.
I finally finished my first playthrough of Borderlands 3 as well. I loved the game except for the boss fights. They seemed overly long to me. The loot and shoot gameplay was a lot of fun for me. The story in Borderlands has never been all that interesting to me so the new story was more of the same for me. I find the antagonist to always be annoying in Borderlands except for the first game which did not have an annoying bad guy chiming in all the time like BL2/3 did.

Overall a fun game that I will play more to level up to level 50 and after that I will wait for the DLC.

I feel like I got my $100 worth of gameplay out of this game already.

So for the people who liked Doom where did you feel it picked up the pace and really got good? Mostly what I’ve heard other people say is how fast paced it is and you blow away enemies like crazy but I never felt that way. Having to be careful to stop firing when they turned orange and melee them seemed to slow down the combat to me.

Currently playing:
Luigi’s Mansion 3 (co-op with my 8 year old daughter) - love it!
Outer Worlds
Red Dead 2 - got sucked in for 3 hours last night after barely playing when it first came out. Took a while to remember what was going on and the controls!
Pinball FX3 - the new monster tables are great
And apparently downloading the LOTR card game since I didn’t know anything about it. Great advertising!

Currently playing:

Apex Legends, the new map has me hooked, I’m lvl 42 on season 3. My favorite legends are Bloodhound and Pathfinder. I’ve been getting about 3-5 kills a game lately assuming I don’t land in the hot spot and die instantly with no gun.

Borderlands 3, been playing coop with my wife. It’s super fun but has technical flaws. Still annoying how player 2 guns display in player 1s screen. Also we find we restart the Xbox one X just about every time we start playing because otherwise it lags bad. We just finished Pain and Terror boss and hit level 30. It’s super fun, we are having a great time playing it together.

The Outer Worlds, I got through the first segment, I sided with the evil corporations but haven’t even left the first planet yet. I’ll play this more after we finish Borderlands.

Mario Odyssey, I’ve been collecting the final moons we need with the kids, I think we’ve got 100% moons on 3 planets. Working our way through collecting them all but our joy cons have bad drift so I’m sending in the first for repair.

Kingdom Hearts 3, last Monday I was sick so I got through the first world (Hercules) while my 3 year old was watching.

Lonely Mountains: Downhill - my son’s and I have been having fun riding down the hills in that indie biking game that came to game pass.

I think that’s all I’ve been playing.

It clicked for me once I realized you only need glory kills when you need hp and then I started playing it like Doom of old; always moving and circling the arena. I also liked the exploration right off the bat, how places you can climb are lit up with green and such.

I'm also a metal head so I was completely on board just to hear the music in each level.

Haven't played much in the last week or so.

Week before last week I finished my second play through in BL3 with a new character.  Started a 3rd playthrough (True Vault Hunter) and got about 2/3 the way through.  Got stuck for a bit on a boss fight and stepped away from it and did some sides.  Got some better gear but haven't tried the boss fight again since.

I really enjoyed it but can understand when people say the story did nothing for them.  I wasn't a big fan of the main villains
Calypso Twins
in this one.

I need to do one of the circle of slaughters with my first character to get the trophy for doing all the missions (I think I have everything else).  But I really don't like playing the circle of slaughters until the one I need comes up.  Also don't care for the Zane character which is the character that has done all the other missions.  I can see me never using my level 50 Zane again after beating the last circle of slaughter I need.

Looking forward to the DLC.  Wish they would add a couple more vault hunters.

Want to start something.  Maybe The Outer Worlds in a couple weeks when I am on vacation.

I hope bing does a hot sale on Ms points. I'm sitting at 60,000 points and ready to cash out before black Friday digital sales.

I gotta buy all my games this year so I can play next year or two.

I'm still sitting in 2013 guys, but don't worry.  I'll play Outer Worlds some time next decade.  Don't wait up.

Actually playing Tomb Raider (2013) and enjoying it.  There are some memorable moments in the campaign and I like this Lara Croft because she's just a regular girl who survived a shipwreck and is turning into a warrior right before my eyes.

I Think by the first few levels I was in, but maybe by the third or forth level when you get more enemy variety and start to figure out this weird murder dance of who to kill first I fully enjoyed it all the more. That and what was said earlier, glory kills for stunned enemies is mostly for when you need health. For the most part I was just running and jumping around everywhere and filling things with rockets or shotgun blasts.

I'm really excited for Xbox to have a reset on the console gen next year. I feel like the Xbox One has always been at a disadvantage with the Kinect at launch. Even when they ditched it we are still stuck with the large menu icons for games. I hope they create a more snappy home screen for the Xbox Scarlett. This time all of that juicy ram can go straight to the home screen and games instead of reserving some for Kinect. I wonder how much Ram these new systems will have, 16gb? I know its leaked to be GDDR6 RAM with a Custom AMD Zen 2-based CPU and Custom AMD Navi-based GPU, then add on the Solid-state drive and it should be pretty beefy.

I wonder if they will reveal it this week:

Tomb Raider is great. While I liked the reboots they did last gen, this was a vast improvement. I couldn’t get into Shadow but the first two were must plays.

I need to get back into Outer Worlds. Right now I’m too busy with my new Switch.

Playing Destiny 2 and trying to get this season’s seal/title is a chore. I love where the game is at currently, but not looking forward to that 980 Nightfall. Anyone else needing to do it?

Just wrapped up Outer Worlds. It was fun but ultimately a bit too shallow for my tastes. I then switched to Yakuza 0 and I am absolutely loving it. Great exploration, good writing, and fun sidequests that always feel like they've been crafted with care and aren't simply there for padding. Also been playing Luigi's Mansion 3 with my son and even though I'm limited to short play sessions I'm liking it a lot. It's such a breath of fresh air to play some truly unique and well crafted games from big developers after playing so many tedious open world games over the last few years.

Currently playing Guacamele Super Turbo Championship Edition, finished Guacamelee 2 (Awesome game) couple weeks ago, jumped into Luigi Mansion 3 (Excellent gameplay) and was craving for more Guacamelee, finished the original one on the Vita upon release but had not played the STCE. Highly recommend both Guacamelee games to anyone who has not tried them yet, gameplay is tight, can get a little challenging at times, and the story is funny and wacky as hell (specially on Guac 2)

How bad are they now? When I quit D2 I was the Nightfall drop Rocket Launcher away from Wayfarer, which was the only one you could get solo. Nowadays, barely anything is really soloable. Sad because D1 did such a great job of providing solo stuff alongside the team based stuff.

I don't think you NEED to do a 980 Ordeal (unless there is a Triumph you need that I'm not aware of). I found out over the weekend that I'm going to need to complete all three Ritual weapons in order to get this season's title, and that seriously bummed me out.

As far as Ordeal Nightfalls is concerned, there are four levels of difficulty (750, 920, 950, 980). The lower two Tiers have match-making which is nice, but the two more difficult ones do not (which makes sense because you need to be able to coordinate with your Fireteam on those). The drops from Ordeal NF can be real nice, and the more difficult it is the better the rewards.

Of course, this is different than the regular Nightfalls which are also there but not really worth running (unless you're looking for a specific NF drop). For some reason, they took away any rewards fo running them and they also removed the positive modifier from the Five of Swords card (Brawler, Grenadier, Heaveyweight) so I don't really run those anymore.

I’m at 11/14 triumphs completed for the Undying seal/title. One of the triumphs is to complete the Undying collections badge, which requires all three ritual weapons (I have Randy’s and Edgewise, working on Exit Strategy). The ship is part of the collection and unlocks after completion of The Ordeal on Master difficulty...it’s been a journey so far.

If I don’t complete the seal in time, I will at least walk away from the season with the three ritual weapons, Recluse, 5 valor resets, 100+ season pass rank, and most likely Izanagi’s. I play solo and don’t have a group for raids or else I’d go for Divinity.

Yep that is me. It is a very specific demographic that this game appeals to. Try to finally finish up the main storyline, but get distracted by a repetitive boring event that you have done dozens of times already just in case you can grind out some decent gear from it, then spend an hour managing inventory and selling to vendors. Living the dream.

I'm trying my darndest not to start anything new until I mop up some DLC on AC: Unity and FarCry 5. I'm also most of the way through Owlboy, but I don't want to finish it without completing that stupid cannon segment at least once.

Outer Worlds

but mostly MW

and Doom is one of the best games ever. It clicks when you find a speed that fits for you. I had to adjust the controls and slowly put everything back to normal when I got the hang of it. I only need one more achievement that I know I will never get. The multiplayer is super awesome too.

edit : A toe into madness is the DooM achievement that I don't think I will ever get,

Games 100% completed in 2019 : 11

Planet of the eyes, Lego Pirates, Dear Esther, Metropolis Lux Obscura, Qube2, Valley, DOA6, What Remains of Edith Finch, Gardens Between, Borderlands 2, Duck Life Battle

Which achievement is that?

And Doom is amazing when it clicks for you. It took me a bit to adjust to just playing balls to the wall but once I did, I couldn't put it down.

My currently playing:

  • Gears 5 - trying to grind out the stars for General before the Operation ends and might try to do some Escape character leveling this weekend with double XP
  • The Outer Worlds - I usually don't jump on new RPGs right away anymore but so much positive talk convinced me to start it. I'm not a Fallout fan but I think this does just enough of that mixed with Mass Effect to make me enjoy it. Not super far into it but looking forward to getting deeper into it

Working on Gears 5.  Popped the General achievement last week, but only have about 1/3 of the current tour complete.  Did a lot of daily challenges, plus took advantage of the double star Saturdays.  Not sure how much of the tour I'll work towards.  Curious how things may change once they finally roll out the rank reset.  I could get to mid/high Gold in KOTH and Escalation in Gears 4 (even hit Onyx in the first ranked season of Escalation), but could never climb past low Silver in Gears 5 KOTH.  Haven't played any Escalation yet.  The campaign completion achievement hasn't been fixed yet, either.  May just run through the levels on casual to get the chapters that aren't marked completed.  I did use a guide to complete the collectibles.  A few of them I did get initially, though those may be tracked differently because they are tied to optional mission objectives.

Still doing the weekly festival stuff in FH4.  Only have 1 achievement left, but I'm still enjoying (most of) the weekly stuff they put out.  Wish there was a simple way to identify which cars in the garage can be purchased.  Need to keep going back and forth between the garage and auto show to know which ones are safe to get rid of.  Also made some people happy putting duplicates of exclusives up on the auction house for cheap.  A bunch of cars posted for 20 million credits, some up for 300k goes fast.  I've barely tabbed over to the next manufacturer when the notification pops for a sold Bone Shaker or Caddy Limo.

Still a ways to go in Borderlands 3 PT1.  Working on the above, plus some TA sessions for Gears 2 JP Horde maps have broken up my weekends.

Went to my sister's for my niece's 8th birthday this weekend.  Took my Switch, wasn't even through the door before my nephew (4) was asking to play Mario Kart.  So there was quite a bit of that this weekend.  Every track was "the best one ever."  The game's a little too hand holdy, though.  Tough to let the kids win when the karts go by themselves and you're blocked from falling off the track in a lot of places.

Pokemon this coming weekend.  Will have to read up on Fallen Order.

Pretty sure you can turn the assist stuff off in the pause screen of Mario Kart. Just wanted to let you know for next time. :)

I may be able to help but I'm not sure my light level is high enough to do damage at 980. Im probably a little over 960 with the artifact. I own everything on ps4 but I'm assuming i can play the nightfall on xbox.

People talking about playing fun games, while I'm over here in the corner still playing Fallout 76 like I need to punish myself for something bad I've done. Send help.
I gave it up. It's really not fun. I love exploring but it's just unfinished. I'm not big on the hunger games for guys games so the new mode didn't do anything for me.
