Often overlooked, GoD are by default displayed in dollars both on Xbox.com as well as on the console, but on the very-first confirmation screen of the download process is the option to use Microsoft Points in place of real-world currency.

Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:

On Xbox.com they've made it much more obvious, the confirmation "extra step" pop-up after clicking the download link displays a link that simply says "Use Microsoft Points" directly under the price in dollars at the top of the page.
Small Arms, Happy tree friends, and polar panic
I never came close to finishing either one, but Small Arms and Polar Panic are dumb fun. HTF, however, is just plain dumb. You will definitely want to demo it first because there's a good chance you will despise it, I promise you. It's easily one of the 10 worst XBLA titles I've picked up out of almost 300.

I haven't played a whole lot of Happy Tree Friends yet, but it doesn't seem great. From what I've read, it could actually be fun if the characters did what you told them to do. Unfortunately I don't think that happens all that often.

Polar Panic is a decent puzzle game. Nothing exceptional, but I don't regret spending $5 on it.

Whoa, never realized so many people here have these games. I guess they're not as obscure as I had thought.
As for polar panic. I loved Penguin Land when I was growing up (which may or may not have something to do with this game). So nostalgia probably has a bit to do with it.

If anyone here has played both Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2, and Geometry Wars Galaxies on Wii, is it worth owning both? I haven't played the Wii one that much, but wonder if they made a lot of changes to RE2 that make it worth getting. The Wii game also includes the original Retro Evolve.
I didn't play Galaxies on the Wii, but I played a bit of it on the DS. I'm not sure how they compare. I thought Galaxies DS was trash compared to Retro Evolved, which I love but looks like trash compared to GW2.

I cannot recommend Geometry Wars 2 enough. They actually managed to make 6 different single player modes that all play completely differently and are all fun. (Well, I guess Deadline and Evolved are kind of similar but that's still 5 different modes)

This is probably going to sound ridiculous but I rank Geo Wars 2 as one of the top 10 games this gen if not top 5.

I was seriously addicted to Pacifism mode for a couple months. One of my favorite games ever.

2160 MSP spent....1040 MSP to go picked up I Am Alive, Hell Yeah, Black Knight Sword and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 (also Babel Rising last week, since I can play that with my controller =O)

still wish dlc would count..would be so over some titles with dlc...

I had a demo downloaded that I played occasionally and kept waiting for it to go on sale. It never went on sale, so I figured this month was a good excuse to go ahead and buy it, as it is only 400 points anyway.

Cloning Clyde. It's a fun game, definitely worth the 400 points (though like I mentioned, I sat on the demo for probably a year hoping to get it cheaper). Just a mention for those people trying to get that last 400 point purchase and not finding anything interesting.

I own and have beaten Cloning Clyde, but I'm trying to figure out why I got it. I see it did get a price cut from 800 to 400 in 2010 (which isn't reflected on xbldb for some reason...) but I don't usually buy games that are price cuts.

Zyxomma and the rest conviced me into buying this Geometry Wars Evolved 2 thing, at 200msp I can't go wrong I guess, if so many people like that game.

They're completely different games with the Wii and DS versions doing some cool things that should've been ported to XBLA/PSN at some point. GW2 improves on the original game by adding new modes, but it doesn't really take anything from the Galaxies games. I really liked that it had more than just rectangular stages and bots to upgrade to suit your style of play.

Caused me to miss out on MLB Bobblehead Pros!

Ah darn. Was hoping 2 week trial would allow me to get I am Alive, but looks like no.

*edit* So i never used my GTA4 1 month trial apparently, so booyah.

dlc doesn't count? well damn!

Anyone have any other suggestions on arcade games to buy? I need to spend $25 still, and I need to buy one game (though obviously I am fine with getting more than one). I'm not too interested in any of the deals this week, and I'm guessing we don't know next week's deals yet.

Sacred Citadel ($15) and God Mode ($10) both come out late tonight/early tomorrow, and both are looking like fun games.

I'm buying games that have never been on sale. With my luck they will probably go on sale soon lol...

So far I bought Omega 5. It's a decent twin stick shmup style game but not really worth the 800 MSP I paid for it. Glad I'm sorta getting a discount for it though.

Other games I'm thinking about are 400 MSP Konami games (that aren't on the classics disc).

I think I may have bought it when it got the price drop too. It's a fun game and I definitely recommend it!

Has anyone bought the DLC for Hell Yeah? There's a Sega skin pack for 240 MSP and a challenge pack for 400 MSP. For once I'm interested in the skin pack due to nostalgia.

Not sure how I feel about God Mode, but Sacred Citadel looks interesting from the trailer. I'll at least check out the demo.

Never tried the missions, but I can say that they don't add achievements), but for the skins, they're kind of cool, even if there was some that could've worked but were left out. I'm the kind that's not big on spending money on costumes that make little to no difference on the gameplay, so as a separate $3 download, I can't say I would've gotten it. If I could find a video showcasing them, I would post it.

I thought the in-game challenges were the lamest part of the game personally, so I don't think the Challenge Pack would be all that good.

That's exactly how I felt about it. If you liked the in game challenges, then you'll probably like this pack. It's just not something I was interested in.
Hell Yeah is pretty damn fun. Easy 400 gamerscore, too, for those who care.
It's pretty repetitive. I just wanted it over for the final 20 monsters or so. Didn't love it, but it's decent at this price.

Gobbled up Geo Wars and Black Knight Sword.

Still debating on Hell Yeah but the more I think on it the more its looking like a pass. I was ready to pull the trigger on it last week but I'm kind of glad I had more time to mull it over. I have 1200 More to spend for April and I'd rather use it for something I'm sure of.

Probably a stupid question, but what are you talking about?

Is there some "bonus points" offer going on (like how there was $10 for spending $50 on PSN)? I went back a few pages and see a few posts referencing this, but I can't find the original link or offer? Just wondering because I have about 3000 points I need to finally make use of...

Apologize in advance if it's a stupid question, but I don't follow XBLA sales as much.

When does Major Nelson announce the coming sales?

I wanna know if there will be something I like these next few weeks to get my last 400+ game or if I should settle for either: Rearmed 2, Hell Yeah, I'm Alive, or Black Knight.
When does Major Nelson announce the coming sales?

Tuesday morning, every two weeks (usually). So the next announcement should be next week.
If you're low on points, NewEgg has a deal. I'm not sure of other current deals, but until 11:59PM PST tonight NewEgg.com has 1600 msp digital codes for $16.99.

CrazyGameTime currently has 1200 ($13.49), 2400 ($25.99), and 4000 ($42.99 AC) point codes in stock. Once you pay via PayPal, the code will literally arrive within seconds, and I've never had a single problem in 10+ purchases. One request though ... please use the link in my signature, so I can continue to feed my XBLA hoarding obsession. :D

Nope =/ sadly they clarified that in their forums...XBLA DLC would have been great for this offer but nooooo

Any opinions on I Am Alive from the community? I have read reviews and it sounds like a good game, except for the occasional combat sequence, which is actually important. Also looking at Black Knight, but that received fair reviews at best and sounds like you're better off staying with the classic Castlevania series.

It's very clunky, but I enjoyed it. Could have been so much more. It's worth it for 480.
Not so sure how I feel about giving them my phone number...
I've tried them several times before. They call you IMMEDIATELY. It's an automated message that gives you a pin number. I never had an issue with them and no telemarketers called me afterwards or anything like that.

For me Omega 5 was woth 800 msp, since I loved it. It's a pretty dual stick shmup, music and visuals are great. If so, it's a little short and has no ending (it's so arcade :booty:).

Anyways it's not too easy but the achievements are doable and easy enough, since there is a kind of training mode to practice the stages. Once you unlock free mode (unlimited continues) you won't need them and will be able to beat the game with just 1 life.

Grabbed hell yeah and I can see myself enjoying it even if it feels like a glorified flash game. I'm downloading the demos for I am alive and black knight to see how I feel about them. I know people have talked it to the ground but if I have splosion man, and don't particularly like it, would te bundle be worth it?
I'm really wanting to pull the trigger on the Twisted Pixel pack of games for 800 points. Anyone have any thoughts about it?
If you don't have any of the games, or even if you already own one, do it. All four games are excellent.

If you don't like splosion man I'm assuming you likely won't like Ms. splosion man as it's pretty much the same thing. I'd pass on Comic Jumper and maybe grab the Maw, though it is a bit slow on gameplay so be aware of that. But you can probably grab a code for the Maw for a couple bucks if you look hard enough it's been free so many times. The Maw is very much a sort of throwback Nintendo-ishly family friendly action-adventure sort of game with a bit of puzzle play going on. I liked it but it was a bit slow and I never got around to finishing it.

So I'd pass on the bundle for $10 if I was you. Though in saying that Twisted Pixel is a damned good studio and deserves people supporting them, even though they aren't indie anymore and are part of Microsoft, they are probably the best studio that Microsoft owns in terms of doing innovative games. If you have a Kinect I'd highly recommend The Gunstringer which is my favorite of all their games and probably one of the few really awesome games for the Kinect that actually works. It has even better narration than Bastion IMHO.

I truly wish Microsoft had better studios. Sony kicks Microsoft's ass when it comes to that. So I'm up for supporting one of the few decent ones that it has. You're getting a brilliant bargain but in the same way you might not really enjoy most of those games to make it worth your while. I'm so glad that thatgamecompany is now indie so that maybe their next game can come to multiplatforms.

By the way I grabbed Geometry Wars 2 and had a blast beating Tyler's high scores last night. Don't know why I didn't buy this earlier, it's a lot more fun than the prequel, the various modes are a blast. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to get all the achievements though, some of them are nuts. But I will keep trying to outdo CAGGERS. Reddjoey you are so next!
If you don't have any of the games, or even if you already own one, do it. All four games are excellent.
I own none of them, but wanted 3 of them when they first came out. Thanks for the response. I'm gonna jump on them!
If you want to ruminate with me over the phrasing on the XBR site (even though I'd much rather this topic stick to the Rewards thread), it sure sounds to me like this might not be the last time we see a punchcard promo.

Hrmm? :whistle2:k
It definitely seems like they are pushing the whole Xbox Live Rewards brand more these days. It was sort of going nowhere and then a few months back they instituted that thing where you get back a certain percentage of points based on your purchases. It looks like they've done away with the Sales & Specials app and have put their resources into the whole Punchcard thing. I think it might be a big success. For some reason I was driven to do everything they asked this month, even put in 20 hours into XBLA for the sake of an avatar award (sigh I'm pathetic). But that whole, get all your punchcards filled and you'll get a VIP exclusive sold me on this whole thing. But they need to deliver. If it's something lame I won't bother doing this again. So if this is going to be a monthly thing then they better make the reward for filling out all the cards worth it. If it's just some lame avatar crap that I could have gotten for 80msp I think this whole thing will just go nowhere. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Anyone have any thoughts about that VIP exclusive they're offering to everyone who fills out all the cards? My wish is something like a free copy of State of Decay but that's so not going to happen.
