Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:
Yeah save those 400 points and put them towards either Nights or Virtua Fighter 5, which are both much better games.
What? It's 160 for each. I have 160 points. I also already have VF5 and NiGHTS. Maybe I should just go with Fighting Vipers then...

Yes, Sonic Fighters is awful.

Well there's still VF2... but I don't know if that's worth picking up if I got VF5 too...

If you want achievements or gameplay is what it comes down to. Virtua fighter 2 I feel like still takes taken to play, I was surprised how hard it was hard again even on easy. Meanwhile the other two games(sonic the fighters and fighting vipers) I was less than impressed with in general and really just wanted the achievements since they're so easy to get.
Here's my question: Would it be worth it to get another rechargeable battery/cord or use AA batteries? Right now I am using the batteries and I like how the controller shuts off when I don't use it for a period of time (although I can't seem to adjust the shutoff timer).
If you'll notice too, those rechargeable paks are also noticeably heavier than simple rechargeable AA's, too.

I had a tech-crush on those kits & paks for the longest time and was ecstatic when I finally snagged a deal on the wall charger... until, that is, my oldest paks started dying one-by-one. Now I just keep a bunch of Energizer Recharge around and when the ones I'm using start dropping I start charging-up the next pair. Simple as that.

As someone else implied though, if it's just you & your room setup will allow it, you can just pickup a charger cable and keep it plugged in--no pak needed (charging, charged, or otherwise). I use that setup in my spare room where I'm only 8ft away from the tv--with an empty (AA-style) battery pack, no less.

I had a blast playing this with three friends online. I know I already explained why I find the game to be fun, but this was seriously awesome to play with friends. If you guys blindly trust me on this, then I promise you that you'd have fun online. :p

Though it seems pretty dead for playing against randoms. :(
I recommend eneloop rechargables.
This is the best advice by far. Eneloop batteries (and the superior long-life Enitime batteries that use the same technology) don't lose their charge over time, unlike regular rechargeables. Thus you have to charge them a lot less. Get an Eneloop charger and a set of batteries and you'll never want regular batteries again.
I wouldn't go that far. Fighting Vipers 2 was only released for the Dreamcast in Japan and Europe and the Saturn port of Fighting Vipers is graphically inferior but technically identical.
But the Japanese Saturn port of Fighting Vipers also had an FMV intro and Pepsiman, both sadly lacking in the XBLA game. Still rad that we got these model 2 fighters though.

I'd actually go with a Maha or La Crosse charger. They cost more but are worth it in the long run. The type of simple charger that comes with the Eneloops only charge in pairs and can overcharge the batteries which shorten their lives. The batteries however, are good to go.

My La Crosse can do a single battery which is great for a handful of devices that I have which take one at a time, it knows when a battery is charged so I can leave them in there topped off without fear of it overcharging, and it even made some old energizers useful that previously only held their charge for an hour or so in my controllers.

I spent $55 on a charger and batteries 4-5 years ago and haven't spent a dime since. All of those Eneloops are holding their charge like the day that I got them and I don't expect to spend more any time soon.

Ah, I didn't think about using different chargers. Nice suggestion.

Sonic The Fighters, while still a terrible game, is one that you have to have the mindset of that it was more of a joke, since it was pretty much "Hey, what if we took our Model 2 fighting game engine & use Sonic characters?". Heck, that's how it pretty much originated (someone put Sonic & Tails in Fighting Vipers, proposed to make it into an actual game, & they liked the idea). Yeah, it's still a very easy game & I honestly don't get why they decided to re-release this, but it's kind of good for a cheap laugh at the fact it exists.

.....now I just wish Fighters Megamix would be re-released so I can freakin' play as the Hornet from Daytona USA.
Mine still works when the cord is connected, but it barely holds a charge without it. It was like that about a year or so after I bought the play n charge kit. If/when mine ever dies completely, I'm just going to switch to batteries. The MS Play N Charge kit is pretty sorry in my opinion.
First my chatpad doesn't read anything (and is a pain to remove). Then my headset snaps like a twig. Now this business with the battery pack all after one year of owning an Xbox 360. I'm afraid to buy their official bluetooth headset ( I received the SteelSeries headset from the Xbox Magazine offer instead).

Thanks for all the advice on the battery situation, everyone. Turns out my charge cable was slightly unplugged so I am using that again with the dead battery like Sanges99 suggested to play it.

I've had my PS3 controller for four years and it never gave me a battery problem. Shame, shame Microsoft.

If it needs reiteration, the play-n-charge kit is pretty much crap. Mine hasn't been able to hold a charge in years, so I just use it with the dead battery and cable, since I only sit like 2-3 feet away from my console (I play on a monitor). I'm pretty amazed that MS ever thought old-fashioned batteries were a good idea, even in 2005. I guess they just wanted to sell more useless peripherals.

I also wound up biting on VF2, since I do have a friend who loves older games that I can probably play it with.

I have 6 MS battery packs that cannot hold a charge. Last week my single Play & Charge cable started to fail and will only power a controller when it is held upside down.

The same day this happened, my third PS3 failed to eject a disc (first two had YLOD within days after purchase.) I'm debating fixing or selling as the two DualShock 3s I have do not hold charges either and only power on while plugged into the console.

This all happened two days before receiving my newly repaired Wii in the mail. This was the second time it has been sent out because it stopped reading discs altogether.

My point is, even though I got RROD twice on each of my Xbox consoles, I don't feel MS is the only one who should be embarrassed this generation.

I will however vouche for Eneloop rechargeables. I keep chargers in several rooms in my house and use them in everything I can. They have not failed me in the past three years.

Also I want to be the first to say I hope for Mass Effect 2 DLC in the DotW tomorrow.

This is a hard choice. I really want JoJo's, because I have always wanted to play it and have never been able to get a cheap Dreamcast copy. But Darkstalkers comes out Wednesday and I only feel like buying one XBLA title. I could wait on a deal on Darkstalkers, but then again: It's Darkstalkers. And a full-price purchase from me now might be what makes a difference on whether a DS4 ever comes out (probably a fool to get my hopes up though).

I think I might end up waiting on Jojo's.

I was going to write something completely shmarmy, but instead I think you should really get the power current or something checked in your house (or maybe inspected for ghosts who like to put jelly in disc drive slots!). Unless you're playing from sun up to sun down on all of those consoles every day that quantity of failure is incredible.

Although I will admit I assumed all play and charge kits were junk as I've never had one that held a charge past two full charges.

well that sucks lol. i do agree the console quality of each company has dropped quite a bit this generation. that said my Wii is the only one that didnt die. granted my Wii i am certain is half dead as it tends to overheat and you cant leave on standby anymore you must actually unplug it and it now must be played horizontal as the vents wont air out properly any other way now.

my first ps3 died though in a heartbreaking way. went i got my 50 inch TV something happened and the ps3 died.

So it looks like the Wallace Wells DLC for Scott Pilgrim is FINALLY coming out this week, as it's been confirmed for PSN tomorrow, so that should mean Xbox Live will get it tomorrow as well.

If the word on Scott Pilgrim is actually true, I'll be happy. Granted, we were this close before only to be let down in the end.

As for this week's sale, picked up everything I didn't already own with the exception of Jojo. Looks enjoyable and different enough, and 800 is much easier to stomach than 1600. That said, I'm terrible at 2D fighters and I don't recall seeing a tutorial mode or anything like that. Probably will make a last minute decision on it tonight if somebody wants to try selling me for or against.

Finally? I'm not going to hold my breath, but it would be nice to finally get my hands on this so I can once again have all the achievements for this game.

It's out on PSN and we still haven't heard about the XBLA version. Not good. I honestly believe us XBLAers are going to get screwed here this time.
Still waiting for some ME3 DLC to go on sale. Love ME, but the DLC just doesn't seem worth the full price anymore now that the story has essentially ended :/
Citadel is worth every single Allard, just ask anyone in the 360 ME thread.

About play n charge kits and rechargeables. I had this issue with a white controller a while back that stopped charging. I moved the battery to one of the new black controllers and it charges beautifully. The only thing it doesn't do it recharge when the system is off which is a pain but liveable. So I would recommend you try the charger and battery on a second controller if you have one. No clue why this works for me but it did save me buying a new battery and charge kit.

I've had 2 batteries not charging for awhile and now they can't hold a charge...sucks cause it wasn't too long ago I had bought a dual pack of them

Scott Pilgrim Wallace+online DLC will be on North America PSN Tuesday, then XBLA and EU PSN Wednesday (or so I’m told)

It's crazy hearing all these stories about bad batteries.

I will also say I did not expect the Xbox to draw so much power. One time I had a small paper over the top where the fan vent was. It made a weird sound as if it was about to explode. Never under any circumstance do you put anything on top of that thing.

At least Playstation put their vents in the back of the device.

I hope there are some bad sales this week. I'm down to 190 points from two weeks ago.

I think I'll go ahead and pick up Jojo. Glad it came down by half instead of 25 percent. Shoulda been 10 bucks to begin with, as far as I'm concerned.

It's not the "play-n-charge kit" that's crap ... it's that 1 single cell within the rechargeable battery has died, and the cells further down the line are unchargeable. But the cable works fine for you, and having the ability to use AA alkaline/Li-ion batteries is a god-send, if you consider PS3 controllers are nearly worthless when the internal battery dies. I will say the AC-powered charger does a much better job at powering up batteries, since it applies a higher charge than any USB-powered solution, and will also cut power to the battery once it's charged ... which is a leading cause of burning out rechargeables.

Thankfully the MS folks did re-launch the power packs, since it was a wasteful investment to buy an AC-powered charger if you had no batteries to fit it!

Had the same problem a couple of years ago. I bought the charger you plug into the wall and re-charge batteries that way.

Haven't had any problems with my charge packs for my controllers. The cables are poorly made though, as they're the only reason that I have to buy new kits at this point.

The charging kit, (the one that looks like an upside down "T" that charges two batteries at once), and the $4.99 batteries at Buy.com sales, (so they're blue or pink, who cares for that cheap), have served me well.

Hmm...I ended up passing on VF2 and Fighting Vipers. Even for $2 a pop, I'd never play them for enjoyment, I'd just achievement-whore them and move on. I did grab Sonic the Fighters though, the polygon 3D models made me smile enough to justify a purchase.

Last few weeks had so many great sales, coupled with this week's deal of the week, and my desire to purchase Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds on release, my digital wallet is getting emptied fast. I am sure all of our backlogs are just bloated by now, such that we're all seeking some sort of slack for storage space on our systems. I really hope the removal of the Sales & Specials + app from the app section is just an anomaly, but coupled with the lack of change on the offers, I am quite concerned. In recent weeks, I remember the Sales & Specials + app saving a few weeks from being abysmal for discounts. So here's hoping tomorrow we at least get something we desire for a lowered price from the primary channel of discounts, Deal of the Week!

So far, it appears to follow Major Nelson's pattern of 3 weeks of knowledge of sales with 1 dark unknown week (which may be mentioned after we all find out). When there's no information, I'll offer my prediction for the upcoming sale, as usual great if I am wrong, awful if I am right. I forecast the Live team may have expended a lot of energy thinking of what to put up for discount, so they phone it in with Microsoft Games Studio published XBLA titles, and not the ones you would want, but the ones that every thread monster here already acquired like Castle Crashers, Fruit Ninja Kinect, Shadow Complex, Toy Soldiers, Trials HD, and 'Splosion Man. If I am right, I will collectively groan with you about that, so pray I am wrong. Too bad, Major Nelson does not have the limitless energy for discounts as I, because I feel it is information many would want to know, perhaps those with the twatter or headbook accounts can bother him every Thursday before there's a void in information on upcoming sales.

This Wednesday's release of the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game DLC and Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds DLC (over $52million USD price drop!), means I'll need at least 800MSP without counting on what I may purchase on discount this Tuesday.

However, the Wednesday XBLA release, Darkstalkers Resurrection at 1200MSP, means another title I will potentially place onto my "waiting for discount" list. Joining titles like The Cave, Retro City Rampage, Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins, NeoGeo Battle Colosseum, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Deathsmiles 2X, and the complete Capcom Arcade Cabinet set. Once it gets released, I don't see much else on the horizon for fighting games on the 360 aside from BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, the update for XBLA Gulity Gear XX Accent Core Plus to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, additional crowd-funded characters for Skullgirls, and XBLA Girl Fight (?! o_O, gametrailers.com seems to have removed the video). This could push others to consider the fighting games still on sale at the moment. [EDIT: just remembered there's also that WB fighter no one cares about]

For those pondering a last minute fighting game purchase from the current discounts, I can only say I take pleasure in the games for different reasons. The Sega Model 2 titles, aside from being great for achievement whores, I like them for their novelty, my own personal memory of them, and low 160MSP price (I still somewhat regret passing on Unbound Saga when it was 160MSP); think of it as pumping a few quarters into an arcade machine of them, a quick indulgence game. When Jojo's Bizarre Adventure was released on XBLA (arcade accurate, but without the Dreamcast extras, much like Darkstalkers Resurrection will be missing the additional 3 characters on the Saturn version of Vampire Savior just to stay arcade accurate) at 1600MSP, just told me to save the money for the newer upcoming release even though I enjoyed the comic (it's been running for decades >_

That's considered an insult?

...

Really? People are bothered by the simplest thing that is brought up constantly every week deals are announced and now joked about and it's considered an insult? I Was expecting something in the very least on par with what you hear in a game of CoD online...
