Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

On the other hand I have been playing Forza Horizon 3 and it is a blast. I am not a driving game fan either but FH3 is just a pleasure to play.
I think this will be my next game when I finally get motivated to play. Like you I am not big on driving games but really liked what I played of the demo even if I got frustrated at times with sliding off the track on the last lap or something.

I must be the only one here who liked the Gears 4 campaign, lol. I think it started slowly but overall was a good experience.
Nah I thought it was very well done and enjoyed it. Wish I had a good regular crew to play horde. Or that they added Overrun to the MP modes. Haven't played it much in a couple months.

I don't mind the Gears 4 multiplayer, but I absolutely have to play co-op versus only. I used to be good at this series, but I don't know what happened. I'd be lucky to get a single kill against human players. Maybe that's why the game got old so quickly; I have to play against bots and they become very predictable. But I can't play a single match against humans without raging. I'm just kinda stuck I guess. It was a fun two-week romp, and I enjoyed the campaign, and I'm sure I'll get Gears 5 for the campaign and to see Gridlock remastered for the 29th time.

I did play a match during their Christmas event and remember being entertained. I can't remember what it was. Antlers on locusts or something? And they were really pushing the Christmas chests. I opened one and got something like "Congrats! You got a Peppermint Joe-John character skin! Be the envy of all your friends!" like I caught a rare Pokemon and decided I was just done with it.
Out of the shooters I've tried, I think Gears is the one with the highest amount of practice needed to do OK. It takes at least a couple hours to really get a feel for the Gnasher's range, both in your hands and the enemies, and you generally get absolutely wrecked until it clicks. Not to mention the appropriate times to use the rest of the weapons. And if you don't play for a while you usually have to go through the warm up period again. It is pretty stupid that the weapons have different tuning for the Competitive playlist than the rest of the game too, but I guess it's not that big of a deal being only 2 gametypes.

I also think it's pretty important to switch to the Tournament control scheme (I think that's the name), that puts dodge and cover up on LB, so you can aim while rolling, slowing cranking your sensitive towards max so you can react fast in Gnasher shitstorms.

As for timed availability on skins, they don't really bother me on principle, but in execution the feel pretty slimy. Often they only put up the ones that are available to buy with either a lot of coins or actual money for a weekend to 5 days. It's very much a tactic to make people panic and buy a few boxes if they don't get what they wanted from what they were able to get for free. I hope they put a bit more effort into event gametypes though. The Christmas one was OK but the only one that was semi-unique. I'm thinking of fun stuff like Torque Bow Tag, and the modified Longshot playlist that came to Gears 3.

Still no Ghost Recon or Injustice 2 beta invite here. Signed up for both immediately after they went live.

Anybody having any luck w/ those?

Press Y to rewind. Never worry about stupid little mistakes like that again.

Finally clearing out my backlog. Recent completions for January

  • Mass Effect 1 - First time ever playing. Went Paragon
  • Mass Effect 2 - Imported and went full tilt Paragon. And all dlc (except that Cerberus character/squadmate dlc)
  • Mass Effect 3 - Just started. Now Shepard can jump and roll
Been managing my backlog via http://www.backloggery.com/TheBriefChef
Slow goings but going. Upcoming marriage in 3 weeks is going to slow down that progress
I'd recommend going back and doing a full-tilt Renegade playthrough when you've done a full-tilt Paragon playthrough on all three games. It's a nice difference compared to a Paragon playthrough that I think is worth the time to do.

Got the $100 to get to 3 star email, too. Yes, M$, I'll randomly spend $100, even when your sales are shit, to get an extra 2% back. Because that makes total sense. The only movies I'd consoder are Disney, since my DMA accounts are linked - but I can buy the codes for much cheaper than getting the movie on XBL.

Monster High is decent for what it is. Predominately non-stop fetch quests and having to buy all the fashions in the game. Character creation is okay, and about halfway through the game you gain the ability to change your monster type at any time.

There's also monster puns.....lots and LOTS of puns. So many puns!!!
With all of the random stuff going BC, I hope Monster High does at some point. My 9-year-old daughter loves everything Monster High and would probably get into it, if it could drag her away from Overwatch.

For those without kids and a family, you'll see. One day you'll wake up and have a mortgage, a family (with seemingly endless needs) and more responsibilities than you can fit in a 24-hour day. There will be very little if any time for gaming. And you'll wonder how it all happened.
I think I have it better than most adults re: free time since I work from home and have a lot of flexibility, but I still see what you're saying. I still have a lot of time for gaming, but I'm definitely choosy about what games I'll play that require more than 20 hours of time invested. Like you, I really appreciate a tightly crafted <10 hour single-player experience. Good thing we still have smaller devs since more and more larger devs are trending toward multiplayer experiences that can eat up a lot of time.

Was excited when I saw Madden 17 ($20) and NHL Legacy for 360 ($15) on sale/drop because I've been wanting a FIFA game.... and then saw FIFA 17 is still $30. Welcome to why I guess I'l never own a FIFA game, even though Id like to. Their price points always stay way, way too high.
Obligatory "Why don't you get EA Access?" comment. For less than the current FIFA 17 price, you can play FIFA 16 right now and FIFA 17 when it joins the service (probably in two months if last year's pattern remains).

I totally agree. I played about 40 hours of multiplayer for reasons I still don't really understand (I never played more than a few hours of any previous Gears MP) and only got to the level of basic competency, at best. And yeah, I haven't played for a while and now I would totally suck again. Just makes it easier to not play it anymore if you take a little time away, honestly. Plus the transition between other shooters and Gears is harder IMO, which doesn't help.

+1. I usually do my first playthrough making whatever decisions I personally would make, then I do a full Paragon tree-hugging hippy playthrough and a dick-kicking douchebag Renegade playthrough, too.

Andromeda is supposed to be more nuanced, like DA: I was, so it may be harder to do a Paragon-like / Renegade-like playthrough.

EA Access isn't on 360. Otherwise that's probably about all I'd ever spend money on for games.

Definitely doing this- I'm curious to see how the story would progress across all three games and which choices would have made the largest impact.

Imo, that's a good thing. I don't have to do two playthroughs to get the Paragon and the Renegade achievements. ;)

(Though I did enjoy the different tone of the dialogue depending on which path I chose...)

I am... having the same luck as you. Signed up inmediately too, kind of dissapointed. I guess I was too optimistic, since I did the same for the Gwent beta, and got a code withing the first days of it going live.

I hope so, it worked at the time because it was new, but now a strong morality system like that usually railroads you. it didn't feel as bad in Inquisition so hopefully they're on the right track. I think not having "good" or "bad" choices in the same spot all the time would help if they're going to stick to their basic formula, but really they need to write with it better. You choosing the Paragon choice shouldn't just make everything go your way with non-allies nearly as often as it had in the past, really I'd like your actions to have more effects overall like The Witcher does.

RIP BC program...
Yeah, I feel ya. (love the sarcasm, by the way)

A total of 4 games released over 4 BC days is...frustrating.

Missing out on Scalebound is frustrating. Learning this morning that Obsidian was working on an Xbox game that got canceled is frustrating.

So how 'bout we send you tweets on how awesome Scorpio is going to be over the next 9 months? Feel better now?

Man, I said (which I know isnt a hard call to make) that Sony was going to easily win the holiday season with the announcement of the PS4 pro. I don't want to dig through the old post to find who quoted me and told me that was a dumb prediction, but they sold 9.7 million units in that quarter, more than any point in playstation history.

Yes I am that petty with I told you so.

For me Gears of War 3 was the best campaign, hands down. Gears 4 was good, but an ending is usually better than a beginning when it comes to single-player. I am pretty hyped for Scorpio, but from what I have read I won't be buying it day one, it'll probably be great, but the price point will put it out of my day one threshold. (unless somehow it can match the PS4 Pro point of 3.99)

I have two slots available, but we need to be Ubi friends. Find me there with the same username as here.

The first Battle Islands took way too much time of my life. I'm staying as far away from this as possible. F2Ps are too addicting. Gems of War and Battle Islands were my go-to games for awhile and I did nothing but play those two. I'm not going back! They can't make me!
I know what you mean, I'm still playing Gems of War daily on my Google Pixel. Short bursts of that are good.

Where the fuck is Knee Deep? I was hoping to play it tonight.

Oh well, another Dark Souls night.

2 playable races in Halo Wars 2 with possible chance of third in DLC... okay Halo, you win this time. Here you go Amazon, take my $63 for that PC play anywhere deluxe preorder.

Injustice 2 beta codes are going out now. I received mine about an hour ago.

Still no Ghost Recon though, which I'm more interested in.

I don't remember what email I used for Injustice, nothing yet, hopefully I remembered to sign up instead of just pulling up the page and forgetting.

Random post and off-topic, but at least its semi-game related

Any thread regular like the Resident Evil or Underworld movies and want to see it in theatres? I have a couple codes for 7.50 movie cash to give away for either the newest Underworld or Resident Evil movie.

FYI, I paid $3.13 after coupon to see a 3D showing. I imagine 2D should be close to, if not, free.

Edit: Codes gone

I got my Injustice 2 beta a couple days ago, and wasn't impressed. I could only choose Batman, Superman, Supergirl or Atrocitus. Anybody else tried it yet?

They're adding Blue Beetle, but it's not the full roster. I'll give it a shot if...I ever get a code. lol. I have the game preordered, but May is a long wait.

If we are finally allowed to play as The Flood, I'm gonna say GotY.

Stats from the Beta, for those interested. It's about 50:50 factions win wise too.
I'd expect Forerunner/Created to be the third class based on where we are in the overall universe. Flood might be late Halo 6 if anything, but at this point I'm not expecting them to return until this arc is done.

As for my Halo 5 question from earlier, they gave an answer in the weekly update.

"The Classic Helmet REQ Pack will be available for $9.99 from the Marketplace Store or in-game for 150K RP. Best of all, all nine classic helmets will be exclusively available in the one, single REQ Pack. Get hyped, only one week to go!"

I trashed probably 3/4s of my junk, and played a few hours and got up to 120,000. Should be able to hit the other 30,000 in the week. Heroic Warzone Firefight gives about 2,000 per completion.

Crap, missed the chance for a Ghost Recon code. Aside from For Honor last week, I've not been getting any of the codes for betas lately.
