Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

The only game I've finished the past two months is Quantum Break. Fun game with an amazing story and gorgeous graphics but a frustrating as Hell ending boss fight. Still totally worth a playthrough, no doubt.

Started Titanfall 2 last night. I didn't play the first very much at all so I was a little worried about heading into the sequel, but it does a really good job of making you feel like a badass pilot. Plus the weapons are extremely satisfying, especially the Hemlock. I actually enjoy the onfoot sections more than the titan sections. Should get the campaign done in... *looks at watch* Two months from now.

#wifeandkidsgamerlife
The Titanfall 2 campaign is stellar, and seeing how the first one didn't have a campaign or story to it you're not missing out on anything whatsoever by not having played it.

I wouldn't quite compare it to XIII. XIII's story had a lot of unique terms used that make stuff seem complex for a while, but in the end it was fairly simple, partially due to the hallway simulator aspect it had.

I won't get into spoilers but the last fourth or third or so of XV just kind of felt unfinished, with a lot of very underutilized locations. And one of the big events at the end really isn't explained at all. It really felt like the end of Lightning Returns, a very pretty cinematic without much context for what was actually going on. Another major issue for me was how important all the factions and side characters seem, while not really being laid out well enough to get a strong grasp. Maybe you get more info if you do more side missions, but I didn't really get that impression. Having watched Brotherhood and Kingsglaive, I think the movie is basically necessary to give you any kind of grasp of the world and factions, while Brotherhood is necessary to give you an actual introduction to the party.

I think all the development issues and restarts had a pretty major impact on the game. It doesn't feel as fractured as Phantom Pain, but I feel like a similar portion of content is missing. The fact that they announced they'll be adding cutscenes and the like to one of the late chapters seems to indicate this is accurate to some degree.
FFXV had a lot of vague plot points and the ending did feel rushed, but to me the plot in FFXIII was incoherent. Fal'Cie and L'Cie both sound so similar when spoken, both words lost all meaning in cutscenes and I had no idea WTF was happening, other than knowing they were on the run from an authoritarian regime which was never more than a shadow villain with no development. The battle system was fun, though, it was the main reason I kept playing.

Curious, have you read the fan theory about FFXV? Linking in spoiler tags, but after reading it, its canon as far as I'm concerned and makes me want to replay it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/FFXV/comments/5t367b/pitioss_ruins_revelations/

Big theory about the post-game dungeon explaining the plot of the game and how Ifrit is actually a tragic figure who was betrayed by the other gods while trying to save Eos from the underworld, the aftermath of which created the foundation of the events of the game, right down to the shape of the mountain in the distance being Ifrit's fossilized corpse holding Eos' body as it burned on a pyre. Highly recommended reading.

I finally bit the bullet and am transferring as many saves as I can of my nearly 400 played games to the cloud so I can pack up my barely living 360 and clean up the TV area. This is a huge pain in the ass, I really wish there was a way to mass transfer everything. The cloud system doesn't seem to like mass copying of big saves like Fallout ends up having. I think it also stops when trying to copy an entire game folder if a save from a different profile is there.
I know that I had to go back and upload some saves to the cloud that didn't show up at first, and it could have been mostly games that I had saves of my bro's as well. Not sure. I do know that you have to login as those different profiles in order to upload their saves, which was a hassle. I think I had to queue them individually too; I remember selecting a mixed folder and it not working. One trick I used was to delete saves after they were uploaded from one profile, but you could probably separate different profile's saves onto a usb drive, so then you could transfer those by folder. I did delete some saves that hadn't gotten uploaded, so be prepared to do some back and forth with an x1 to make sure they show up in the cloud.

If you tab over to Active Downloads from the Home button, it should show your upload queue as well.

kinda wanna buy da origins but this late in the game I'm kinda leaning towards not buying anything and letting it work itself out down the road with gwg titles

I'd probably get it free before I played it at my rate of play

It looks like the only game I actually finished for the month was Final Fantasy XV. There are a lot of problems I had with the story in the latter part of the game, but it's worth playing. I mostly wanted to wrap it up before Zelda this Friday, as I know I'll probably move from that right into Andromeda, and I have like 4 other RPGs in the immediate backlog.
I so wish I was way smarter about game saves and the cloud, happens when you have 3 different 360's floating around.

I haven't beat a game so far this year unless I count finishing Mafia 3 at the beginning of January but most of the time put in was in December.

Been playing mostly Overwatch and RB6 Siege which I'd had for over a year but finally started playing.

I just bought For Honor gold edition and RE7 on Saturday and got Horizon yesterday,I have GR Wildlands coming next week and I bought XCom 2 while it was on sale and I'm still contemplating buying Firewatch,Oxenfree and some other sale games,I have a problem.

I did read it after looking for some discussion on the game the other day, though I haven't actually done that dungeon yet, and probably won't for a couple months. It's some nice backstory and all that and seems like it would at least be partially true. It only really helps a bit here and there, and doesn't necessarily have a ton to do with Noctis and crew aside from explaining the crystal itself. It doesn't do much to affect my overall opinion of the game, though I love that kind of implied lore approach. I'm a bit surprised to see it in a Final Fantasy, but maybe they were going to have some actual in-game story attached originally.

We do know that all of this mythology stuff must have been developed after the shift from Versus XIII, as that was going to use the basic concepts that XIII and Type-0 both had with all the Fal'Cie, crystal, and gods nonsense.

Well...

When you finally land on Eos' statue, you find the Genji Gloves. All the items in the dungeon are symbolic to the lore, and one theory was that the Genji Gloves represented twins. They go on to suggest that Ifrit and Eos had twins, and that Noctis and Lunafreya are descendants of this lineage, which would explain the relationship they have to the gods and why they're able to fix things at the end. It also gives insight into Ifrit siding with Ardyn, who may be one of his descendants, along with giving the middle finger to the rest of the gods since they refused to help save Eos.

Again, just a theory, but it all fits.

Getting NFS as I'm now officially an EA Access member. I figured with the ME:A early play with Access I'd be getting it this month anyways. Already have Rivals, could care less about it's DLC so I guess I saved $10.

Does the DLC come with the backwards compat Borderlands 2 or do we actually gotta buy it this time?
It sounded like it did not come with it. I think the increased filesize is probably all the compatibility packs so you can automatically play with people who do have the DLC. If you are considering buying the DLC, just buy the Handsome Collection version instead, as it's cheaper.

I have a month of Access from my X1 S purchase I have been sitting on. Early access to Mass Effect seems like a good reason to redeem.

When Microsoft increased the cloud save size from .5GB to 2GB, it was like the thunderclouds parted and a ray of sunshine hit me in the face. I had so many saves that didn't fit and now they all did, so I uploaded them immediately.

Careful, you'll only get a taste of ME:A with that trial. Then you'll be hooked and will buy the game at full price.

Interesting timing of this. I am still bitter I lost my BL2 360 saves. Anyway my boss called me earlier and asked me to look at a 16GB thumb drive her brother gave her to use. No files listed but it was empty. Turned on show hidden files and low and behold it is a back of up his 360 (he has a One now). Most of the files were 1GB in size so I assume those were not game saves but not sure. Anyway he wants the drive back and told us not to format it.

Same, I click on the 500 points but it doesn't add up. SMH.
They sent another email for those 500 Bing points lol.
Yeah I sent them an email this morning and it seems to be working now (getting 500 points) and they added on an extra 100 for my "inconvenience" which wasn't a big deal but hey, it's 100 extra points. Now if only there was a good Xbox gift card deal for March!

Anyone else get an e-mail from Amazon about buying an Xbox One in installments finance free?  20% up front and then 4 equal payments the next 4 months. No fees or interest.  Not a bad deal if you want a console but are light on cash.

You do get 10% off anything with Access, though. So at least there's that.

Lol for 360?
Yes for 360 stupid as it seems. At least for $9 I won't feel as cheated about how horrifyingly awful the game really is. Anywhere from $25 to $45 for a physical copy however... Can't be any worse than Test Drive Unlimited 2 and I made the mistake of paying full price for it.

Apparently today is the last day that Shovel Knight will be $15 according to this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/5wx0w1/psa_today_is_the_last_day_to_buy_shovel_knight_at/

They don't cite a source, but it would make sense that it corresponds with the $10 sale ending. I for one will be biting the bullet as soon as I get home.

Is anyone having slow downloads for games, 360 or X1? I've left my 360 on for over 2 hours and it's only downloaded 26% of Borderlands 2.
I usually get a 7GB game downloaded in less than 2 hours.

The same happened to me and also with Borderlands 2 but on XB1. After like 3 hours it was at 41%. Paused it and will resume once I get home.

Shovel Knight Sale Details:

The Steam version sale ends at noon EST tomorrow, going by the countdown clock.

The PSN version (PS4/PS3/Vita) sale ends somewhere between 11 a.m. EST and 2 p.m. EST tomorrow.

The Humble Bundle version (Steam key & DRM-free) sale ends 2:45 a.m. EST Friday morning.

The Xbox sale ends several months ago because YachtGames hates Xbox owners.

No idea about Nintendo platforms.

It would be my assumption to expect the price increase as soon as the sale ends on each appropriate platform. As for Xbox, no idea, might as well buy today.

Well I didn't finish Mass Effect 2 yet, but I feel like I'm getting close.

But I did finish Duke Nukem 3-D Chapter 1 so that's something right?

For March, I'm thinking I should either play Mass Effect 3 or whatever Halo comes after 2 (Reach? 3? 3 ODST?)

I'm also thinking of trying out Gun or Dante's Inferno.

I had slow speeds last night. Haven't been online yet today.

I was nervous about starting Shovel Knight, but ended up loving it. Not as hard as I feared. Still very challenging. The free dlcs could've easily been at least $5 and still of been worth it.

Disclaimer I did get it free from a friend

Dante's Inferno is pretty good. I liked the first few levels quite a bit...the last few are a bit uninspired.

I'd play release order, but chronological isn't really any worse other than progression of design ideas. If you only want Master Chief's story than it's just the numbered games. ODST and Reach are definitely worth playing if you haven't yet though.

Halo Wars > Reach > 1 > 2 > ODST (starts during Halo 2) > 3 > 4 > 5 > Halo Wars 2

As for Mass Effect 2 I'll just recommend focusing on any loyalty missions you can before any other missions.

Gun and Dante's Inferno are both fun. Gun has an interesting shortcut to reach the end of the game, but I don't recommend it unless you are going for an achievement quickly

Well Yeah, it's a few extra steps with the sale pane missing. I have to go into settings, subscriptions, Xbox live, exclusive discounts to see the gwg/sales. I miss not having it right there on my home screen, one click and it's there. No clue why one day it was there and the next it's gone.

If you go to Settings and then Account > Subscriptions you should have a few options there as one says Deals with Gold or the free games. I just did this today as I was mucking around Settings to see if I had indeed gotten 4 months of Groove Music with the trial ad that as on the dash. I did not, so I cancelled autonew, eh I'll survive. It is nice to listen to in Forza Horizon 3 though.

Update: Ahh, just read your second post, disregard.

I recommend playing through Dante's Inferno since it's a relatively short game (unless you go for 1000G) then starting Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect 3 will suck in a lot of your time, especially if you want the complete endings. Also, don't forget to play the multiplayer (which is surprisingly fun, if not a little laggy) and using this site to increase your Galactic Readiness (it will be explained in the game).

Dante's Inferno is pretty good. I liked the first few levels quite a bit...the last few are a bit uninspired.
I enjoyed the game even though it got a lot of hate for essentially being a God of War clone. IMO, the story is much better (not just a dumb revenge story) and the levels were more creative.

Also, the bosses were quite interesting, especially
Cleopatra with her boobs

Funny you say that because I've noticed my xbox is not downloading my games when turned off and insta on is enabled.
I just checked and it seems mine is doing the same thing. I started a random download (Lego Jurassic Park demo), turned the console off at 5%, the lights are still flashing as if it is downloading, but I checked an hour later and it's still at 5%.

I believe that's intended to be a shot at Battlefield 1, suggesting it's not realistic
The game originally came out on PC/PS4 before Battlefield 1, so that description was accurate-ish then. The little research I did on it when it came out on PS4 leads me to believe it's crap.
