Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I can sense your urge for Wang is strong. But try to resist - cuz SW1 was like $6 or $8 a couple weeks back. SW2 will follow suit... in 2 years.
Too late. Got me some Wang last night and it's awesome.

Also should note for the other poster that I didn't experience much in the way of performance issues or frame rate drops. If you liked the first game or even if you liked the 2016 Doom (has a very similar feel), buy this.

My haul from the BC sale goes like this

HALF-MINUTE HERO -Super Mega Neo Climax-
Mutant Storm Empire
Omega Five
Sam & Max Beyond Time...
Sam & Max Save the World
Discs Of Tron
Bomberman Battlefest
Scrap Metal
Metal Slug XX
Missile Command
R-Type Dimensions

Debating Tower Blox and Strania which I really like but is $6.

Quasar, Panopticon and then Violet Rays guitar chorus are probably the most Smashing Pumpkins style Smashing Pumpkins songs in the last decade plus or so if that makes any sense, but yeah the the album goes into some odd electronica for me on stuff like 1 diamond 1 heart.

back to games, I watched the first boss battle of The Surge I think he was fighting ED-209 from Robocop but Dark Souls style, I'm trying not to click buy
I actally deleted that song and Pinwheels (right after it) from all my ipod because I hate them so much, they really disrupt the flow of the album. The first 3 songs are good, skip 4 and 5, then 6 onward.

But yeah, that record was a return to form. Based on what he's released since, it may be the last good SP record we get.

Final haul:

Alice: Madness Returns (+ original)

Comic Jumper

Ghostbusters (superior $3.74 version)

Hydro Thunder Hurricane

Jetpac Refuelled

Kameo

Not bad for $20!

I'm definitely in for Shadow Warrior 2. First one was a blast. Just trying to decide if I want it on Xbox or PS4 (I already have the first one on PS4, so the Xbox version will technically give me another console to play on, but there's co op this time around and most of my friends are on Playstation).

Sure it will probably be dirt cheap in two year or whatever, but giving us a launch discount and throwing in the first game is a strategy I'm willing to support with my wallet. I'll also play it right away instead of immediately backlogging.

I'm very surprised bo2 was on the list because BC doesnt make you buy it again, just popped in my disk from launch day and was good to go
Completely untrue. I've bought a handful of games that were made BC just so I didn't have to find the box I stored them in, nor have to keep the disc out. I'm not someone who has gone full digital either, but I don't mind re-buying a few of my favorite games just so I can play them instantly whenever I have the urge.

I will also say I'm having no technical issues with Shadow Warrior 2. Game looks gorgeous at times.

As for future sales, just FYI the first game went on sale many times on PS4, but took 2 years to go on sale on Xbox.

Fully agree. Fable 2 is one of my favorite games and I own 2 physical copies however bought a digital for $5 in this sale just because it's nice to play when ever I feel. Plus these old 360 games take up very little room on the hard drive.

It's Friday...what's everyone playing tonight? Let's get some CAG game nights going. I've been favoring my 360 (Resident Evil Revelations and Sleeping Dogs) over my One lately, but I'm down to play anything I own.

In for:

Ghostbusters

Fable II

Half Minute Hero

Hardwood Backgammon

Feeding Frenzy 2 (my partner loves the first one, so picked it up for her)

Debating Dragon Age Origins but I don't think I'll ever get back to playing that one...

I think it would really help the entire thread if more people posted their experiences with the Live Arcade games. Some of the obscures ones don't even have reviews when you Google them. I'm at work now, but I plan to make a post when I get home tonight to say which ones I liked so far.

Going to make my BC Super Sale purchases shortly.  Considering adding a few additions to my list.  Any thoughts on Dead Space Ignition, Red Faction Battlegrounds and Kane & Lynch 2?

My haul so far:

Centipede/Millipede

Comic Jumper

Dead Space 2

Dead Space 3

Disc of Tron

Dragon's Lair

Geometry Wars

Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters: Sactum of Slime

Ikaruga

NeoGeo Battle Coliseum

Samurai Showdown 2

Shadows of the Damned

Ticket to Ride

Toy Story 3

I got $10 left, so I'm considering the following:

Capcom Arcade Cabinet

Capcom Arcade Cabinet All in One

Army of Two

Battlestations Midway

Bomberman Battlefest

Eat Lead

Fru

Left for Dead 2 (have on PC, not sure worth getting on Xbox)

Metal Slug XX

Missile Command

RAGE (have on disc which seems worthless now so not sure worth getting digital)

Skullgirls

Stuntman: Ignition

Any recommendations from that list? Figure I'll get Missile Command since it's 74 cents.

So I'm guessing you didn't think much of Zwan? I liked it very pop length songs but some good tunes, I'm not into electronic so much and Iha was playing with Billy and Jimmy Chamberlin as recently as April at some LA gigs and some underground shows in Chicago. Then again I think Billy just purchased NWA wrestling this month if that is even still a thing, real artist/rockstars are complicated as we found out yesterday.
I Haven't listened to Zwan in a long time, but I remember enjoying that album a great deal. Though honestly I think a huge part of that is attributed to Paz Lenchantin so I maybe biased since...well, Paz Lenchantin. Even than it was such an upbeat and full on rock album that I enjoyed it. Of course, Billy broke that band up and released that solo album and increased the adult angst ten fold.

And oh shit, Iha is back?? Though I'm guessing only for live shows and not song writing process? I'm not holding my breath for D'arcy ever coming back though.

Zeitgeist was okay but it was a little too stifling creatively. It's more like if Billy tried to write a metal album... which is cool, but not what I want in an SP record.

Oceania is way more of a proper record and has a lot of variety. The first 3-4 songs remind me of Siamese Dream / Mellon Collie, and one of the later tracks could have been a b side on Adore. Definitely worth a listen.
I'm intrigued. Still timid, but intrigued. I'm also afraid this may become a Simpsons the movie type thing where everyone is saying "it's a return to form!" and cut to me in a car two hours later fogging up the window yelling and scaring the car next to me to roll up their windows because of how disappointed I am

The majority of casual gamers also probably don't hold onto their old consoles and games, just trade everything towards the next generation. All those people that buy nothing but CoD and madden probably wouldn't have black ops 2 anymore.

When i get home i plan to watch some episodes of the batman with my son via netflix and then play some windwaker HD .

I'm still mad about losing my DS2 save so I'm finally starting Doom 2016 again. My save corrupted last winter and I'm finally over it / its fun again. Then hopefully me and the partner are seeing Alien.

I really dug Zwan back then too. I saw Billy play a semi-solo acoustic show in DC last year and he played 1-2 Zwan songs, never thought I'd hear those songs live. Iha made some surprise appearances in tour and supposedly is open to a proper reunion. For now I'm just happy he's playing music in A Perfect Circle.

As far as Oceania goes, just do me a favor, one huge fan to an apparent other. Look up the title track on Youtube or Spotify, put on some headphones, and listen it from start to finish, and tell me that song isn't really fucking good.

Here, I'll even save you the trouble:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLHkM_DQ7aw

He had a new drummer (who has since left the band) who brought some new life to the music and it forced him to include other people in the songwriting process. I love SP but Billy thinks he can jerk off into a microphone and call it art (remember that solo album? yikes). When he collaborates with other good musicians, you get stuff like the 2012 record.

I nabbed Feeding Frenzy 2 as well for my family as well.

Here's my haul so far.

Bomberman Battlefest - My wife and I enjoyed the first Bomberman Live game and my young kids enjoyed it when they tried it recently. Decided to get this one so we could have it on the Xbox One. I have more controllers for the Xbox One anyways. It seems almost identical to Bomberman Live so far which is alright with me.

Call of Juarez: The Gunslinger - Complete blind buy, but I do like Spaghetti Westerns. Someone said it has a fantastic Ennio Morricone-esque score. Reading reviews after purchasing it, it seems like it's going to be a fun FPS game.

Fallout New Vegas - Seems to be highly recommended. Even a few people who claim it's a much better story than Fallout 4. I've previously played FO3 & FO4 and enjoyed both.

Feeding Frenzy 2 - Looked like a game my family would enjoy. Like Bomberman it is something that can be picked up and played in shorts sessions together.

Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime - Got this one free around the Oman wars on a sub account. What I played was not great, but for $1 and change I figured I'd give it another try and own it legitimately. Local co-op too.

Joe Danger SE - I have never played it, but it looks like a lighthearted version of Trials HD. It was recommended here as a good family game.

Thank you Bing Rewards for the slightly discounted credits.

Question for anyone here who may have a similar experience:

During the course of the couple weeks leading up to this BC sale, I actually bought quite a few of the games at full price that ended up being apart of the sale. Had I known a BC sale was coming up I would have held off, but they're games that NEVER go on sale, so I thought I was safe buying them at full price at the time.

For the hell of it, since Microsoft are about to change their refund policy with the self-serve refund thing anyway, I went into the Xbox.com chat yesterday and just asked if it was possible to get a refund on them, since I bought them recently and I've barely had time to launch most of them. He refunded me for the games back to my debit card and told me I can rebuy the games as part of the sale.

Awesome. Except 24 hours later and I still have the licenses for the games. I can still install, uninstall, reinstall, and play them to my heart's content. Going to the product pages doesn't give me a purchase button, it says I own them.

I went back to the Xbox.com support chat and talked to someone different, basically just said give it more time.

Has anyone had an experience of getting a refund on 360 digital games, and somehow still being able to keep the games? I read a couple of posts on Reddit where people had that happen to them, but the problem is, their situation was they wanted particular games refunded because they didn't like them, but just so happened to notice that they still got to keep the license, which meant nothing because they hated the game and didn't plan on playing it regardless.

I love Ghostbusters. I plan on playing it a lot. I don't want to get banned for doing so, especially when I'd happily pay $3.74 for it. I'm also afraid of my licenses for these disappearing a week from now, after said sale is over.

They can't revoke 360 licenses.

Congrats on your free games

"Someone" I know may have bought Mass Effect Andromeda Digital Deluxe when it was part of that Microsoft Rewards promo, changed their mind and received a refund from Microsoft support before the game launched, and still got the rewards promotion and still owns the game. They may not have realized this until 2 nights ago when dealing with a different issue and the game was in their ready to install list.

Microsoft seem to be having issues with revoking licenses recently.

Congrats on your free games
That's what I figured.

I also figured they'd only bother to ban people who do this frequently to abuse the system, but he refunded me on 5 or 6 games. In someone's eyes, that could be considered "abuse" so I'm just paranoid about it. I wonder why he was so quick to refund the games for me no-questions-asked and told me to repurchase them when he knew that licenses couldn't be revoked. Unless somehow he didn't know that, or maybe he was just "required" to tell me to do that.

This happened to me when I bought Ninja Gaiden Black about 5 years ago. The game download would freeze. I was not the only person affected and this was a known issue for a few days (a corrupt file on their server maybe?). I'm sure there are some CAGs who remember this. I was super bummed because I had been waiting for a long time for the game to finally go on sale. By the time the issue was resolved, I had already been granted a refund. It's the only time I've ever requested a refund. The game has always remained playable but the tile artwork in the "My Games" menu has never shown up. It's just a blank tile, which bugs me. Xbox live does not allow me to repurchase the game to try and fix the artwork issue. I've downloaded it again multiple times but it's still blank.

I Am all for a Zwan reunion, but I also want to hear all the unreleased stuff considering on the deluxe edition DVD there were definetely a few songs on there in the background that aren't on the album. Though I like how A Perfect Circle ties both Iha and Lenchantin together, but I kinda wish they made an album more in tune to Mer De Noms, but then again I'm surprised Maynard even does anything besides wine these days.

And dammit, fine, I'll listen to it when I get home because of all the Zwan talk, but if I suddenly leave my home to scream in my car and fog up the windows, you're taking the blame.

Mine is the same blank tile, always has been, at least since they changed the UI to look like that. I just assumed that's how classic Xbox games showed up in your library. NGB is the only one I have installed, so I can't really verify either way.

I own quite a few and I can tell you that no original Xbox games have had a tile since the new Xbox experience, or the new NEW Xbox experience. I can't remember what they call their updates anymore....lol

I got a refund for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 a few weeks back. Checked my install list and the game was still there to install. I called MS and notified them that the license is still valid and I don't want to get in trouble for perceived fraud. The lady swore the license was revoked and I shouldn't be able to play it. I again checked the game in the store about a day later and it's still there to install, to this day in fact. I have no plans on playing it at all but I know I covered my ass by calling them so I better not get banned at any point.

No, seriously. You would think the time for them to get this right would be before the huge-ass sale they were planning. Prices aside, how many people out there do you think tried to buy a bunch of stuff with credit, then just said "fuck it" after finding out they would have to take money out of pocket? Way to lose publishers a bunch of no-brainer sales, MS.

Especially since, as a "backwards compatibility" sale, they're targeting purchasers on the One, who CANNOT use their credit on these games..
I already knew I would have to use 'cash' and said fuck it. I have plenty to play and spent a bunch of money on some other stuff.

That 'free' Raspberry Pi 3.0, 3TB drive for Tivo, and stuff for the house etc. If I could use credit I already have I would have spent a bunch. Probably better off. Most of these games would go in the pile of shame likely never to be played anyway.

Far Cry 3 and Left 4 Dead 2 I still might pick up. If my friend buys FC3 by monday after noon I will grab it. If not pass.

Forza Horizon 3 has four new Challenges up for the weekend. All fast and easy. For Tree Hugger Lumberjack Skills, drive around the area with the words Dry Reservoir on the map, and run over the white stumps or white fallen tree branches. There's plenty in that area and they reset after a while.
I ended up not doing the Forzathon last week. Will do this one tonight or tomorrow though.

I am in the same boat. Leaning towards PS4 too. Friend I would play with has both consoles but his friend only has PS4. Tempted to wait for the first sale though not sure. We are just finishing up with Ghost Recon Wildlands. Probably will pick up the newer DLC (not narco Road).

Yeah, I had a tough time last time they had a Lumberjack challenge but once you figure that out it's pretty easy to pull off.

Ninja Gaiden Black is also my only original xbox game. I see Squirrel confirmed this is how all originals are displayed. I see the artwork is missing (broken image) on the product page for xbox originals, but it does show up in search results on xbox.com. maybe the solution is as simple as MS correcting those image links.

I wanted the DS2 DLC, but then read it's less than 2 hours long. The base game is currently on sale for less than the DLC ($7) and it's... 90 minutes? Really?

Would love to get full on game nights going again. If people are actually interested I'll get the thread going again, or someone else could cause it's a wiki,. There's some games in the sale that would be great for it, like Bomberman.
I have never played an online game on Xbox Live. I would probably play with some of you.

Welcome to the thread.

Please note:
You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal.
