This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Super Time Force is alright but its not like mind blowing or anything. 7 years to make a simple pixel art 2d game? ehhhh

This. I love how dark Adventure Time really is. You have talking candy, animals, etc, because of a nuclear war that pretty much wiped out all humans.
Or characters getting killed or receiving fate's worse than death or characters losing limbs. Yeah, the show got kinda heavy as it progressed. That and how they hint that they show maybe nearing it's end with hints of how thing's go in the future.

I don't see it in the OP or the last two pages so I'll post this "deal" I found.  I have two 360s.  On one of them if I look under browse games and then the deals & specials tab, the bottom right tab says Season Pass sale and it lists the following Season Passes with 25% off discounts:

Forza Horizon:  $37.50

Forza 4:  $22.50

Gears 3

Gears Judgment

Halo 4

The only pass deal that seems decent is the Forza 4 one and that is only because it has only been on sale twice and each time on a one day sale, once at 33% off and once at 50% off.

The xbox I usually play on has never shown the season pass tab and instead always has the tab of recent price drops.

Also, I own the Gears 3, Gears J and Forza Horizon Passes yet when I look at them under this tab it doesn't reflect it and appears you can accidentally double buy like that sales and specials app they had for a while.

I don't know if this will really help anyone, but at least now you know, and knowing is half the battle...

So when does it usually update and add the second free gwg? Wanna start downloading SR3.

EDIT: Never mind. I see its available on the 16th.

Haha, don't forget the unofficial spider-man swing, grappling onto trees and soaring up into the air with your parachute, rinse repeat weeeeeee.
Oh and you can of course do this with the grapple too.

I remember playing the original Just Cause and not being impressed so I dismissed the sequel when it was announced. Not long before it released I decided to watch some videos of it and was immediately sold. That gif is perfect and makes me want to play it again :)

What are the odds there's any truth to this so called exclusive scoop from Buzzfeed?

http://www.buzzfeed.com/josephbernstein/exclusive-the-three-new-games-microsoft-wants-to-talk-about
Holy crap, so Ryse 2, Forza Horizons 2 and Halo 5?!

Super Time Force is alright but its not like mind blowing or anything. 7 years to make a simple pixel art 2d game? ehhhh
You do know how small the developer, Capy Games is don't you? (hint: it's small).

@Midnight is as it always has been a hit or miss show, meaning you have to pick and choose in which comedians/improvisationalists/podcaster/whatever other entertainer's you enjoy being as it can't be a constant home run. Paul F. Tompkins and Scott Aukerman can't be everywhere much to my disappointment.

Oh yea Wolfenstein is 1080p and 60 fps on Xbox 1 and PS4, kinda funny how that can be 1080p on x1 and not Watchdogs
There are two possible reasons Wolfenstein is 1080p on both platforms.

1) The game is not intensive enough graphically that resolution needs to be sacrificed.

2) id's engine for the game is so well-coded, that it completely uses the potential of the platform as opposed to the devs behind Watch Dogs (making Watch Dogs' lack of performance a result of lazy/unskilled devs, or devs not being familiar enough with the hardware).

I wanna say it's the second one because Rage was 60 FPS on 360, iirc, which is incredible for a 360 game of Rage's scale. I forget what the res was though. But basically, id is really good at making game engines, so if anyone could pull off 1080p/60 FPS, they can.

Ohhhh... Never mind guys. I thought he was referring to the 24hr live stream. That's the 17-18. My bad. Carry on. Don't care for Chris Hardwick that much.

I think it's only funny because Hardwick doesn't write for it, and he's okay as a straight man.

I remember thinking all the episodes that aired late last year were pretty good, though some were a little weaker than others. I guess it's still pretty much the same then.

or the fact that Watch Dogs is a big open-world city and Wolfenstein is a serious of buildings and hallways. You do know the system has to render everything and when you have a wall, that's the easiest way to go around it but when you don't have a wall you have to render out everything. Draw distance, lighting and shading and physics all go into the calculations and if you want great resolutions you'll get less framerates. Want good framerates than you'll have to turn down the resolution, simple.

Hardwick is a matter of hit or miss as well. The problem I have with him is when other comedians or whatever try and meet him at his level, they start to riff and it's really entertaining only to themselves. When he's paired with other people with their own specific formula for comedy (the Marc Maron episode is a prime example) than he's fine. He's usually great on the Doug Loves Movies podcast, specifically the Twelve Guests of Christmas specials.

I played it, and I say it's difficult, albeit I play way more difficult games (bullet hells, mostly). It's difficult because it gives you no instructions whatsoever, and playing it without a guide, knowledge of the saga, indication, or anything, is an exercise in frustration, especially when you find out that the 20 tries or so you wasted on that difficult road weren't supposed to be done, because the right way is somewhere else...

Games of this difficulty, 20 years ago, wouldn't have stood out, nowadays they do, hence the love-hate relationship with DS. It's confusing without a guide, and difficult until you "get it". And with the average of difficulty of mainstream games nowadays, that can usually be completed on Hard without excessive sweating, it's no surprise the game is considered hard.
My strongest (warm) feelings towards DS stem very much from these points. Before actually playing DS, I was reading all the previews and basking in it, albeit with some skepticism and this strange feeling of nostalgia I couldn't quite place.

Come to find out, I played DS's forefather, KING'S FIELD for the PS1 (arguably the best in its entire lineage, so says the almighty Wikipedia) nearly 20 years prior--and loved the ever-loving hell right out of it, horrible 3d graphics, bad combat mechanics and all.

I think I'm going to buy Super Time Force just because they managed to make a nearly 4 minute launch trailer that I'm not even sure contained any actual anything from the game. :whee:

I think because Wolfenstein is using id tech 5 (same engine as Rage), it's going to have that resolution scaling (maybe?) or whatever technology that allowed Rage to run very smoothly

I bought garden warfare because of you, guys. I love it but my backlog hates you :(
As I said once, Garden Warfare is freaking crack. I bought Ghosts, Titanfall and Garden Warfare at launch. The last got more playtime by me than the other two combined.

How is Riptide?  I played Dead Island after it went free and kind of liked it, but just couldn't get in to it.  Plus it kind of made me nauseous.  I think it's the combo of first person pov with melee combat, I'm not sure.   Does Riptide offer any improvements graphically or gameplay-wise, or is it just more of the same?

If you don't like Dead Island, forget about Riptide. It's more of the same, which is good imo, since I loved the first game.

Thanks, I kind of figured based on what I read. Dead Island really is a fun game, it's just hard to get in to since I can only play for 20-30 minutes before I feel like I'm gonna barf.

Tried Battlestations. Controlling the battleship was fun but the airplane controls were bad - especially when the plane stalls.  Going to pass and stick with Toy Soldiers.

Note to self: When you redeem a code in the middle of buying something, make sure you exit out completely and then try to buy the game/DLC with your Xbox card.   I mistakenly didn't do this and used my credit card for the Red Dead DLC pack thinking I was using my gift card.   It was only $5 but it was a lesson learned for future purchases.

Thanks, I kind of figured based on what I read. Dead Island really is a fun game, it's just hard to get in to since I can only play for 20-30 minutes before I feel like I'm gonna barf.
Whenever I played Dead Island I felt like I was going to vomit as well, however for completely different reasons.

Am I the only one holding out for State of Decay at $5 not this $10 BS?
No, you are not. Honestly, $10 seems like a fair price, and if I was lacking games to play, I'd be fine with it. But I probably wouldn't get around to playing it any time soon, if at all, and $5 or less is my price point in those situations.

I was tempted to skip it until it goes 5$, but it's one of the most sold XBLA games. The regular price is 20$. I don't expect much bigger sales for a long time, frankly, so I decided to bite for 10 bucks. I totally don't regret it, got a couple dozen hours of zombie survival fun from it. Could be better from a technical point of view, but it's the closest we got to the survival aspect of The Walking Dead just yet.

SDecay is on my list of must plays. It is on sale again for $10, and again my cheapass won't allow me to grab it. I have to wait till it's more bearable like $5 ...at least.

Anyhow I gave SDecay a shoot on my 1-year old laptop. It was a complete disaster, even on low settings game was horrible graphically. I do like the story though, style and overall feel remind of something really familiar. Smashing heads and sound of cracking undead skulls never gets old.

Albeit they are completely different games, it is kinda like playing the Telltale games like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Full of technical hiccups, meh graphics, glitches of all kinds, and you keep on feeling that this could have been a better game. But both offer awesome storylines and great feelings overall. In State Of Decay's case, you really feel like your decisions and actions matter, and you can't just screw around because you and your group need to survive. Of course, if it had a polished gameplay like an Assassin's Creed or GTA 5, it could be even better naturally, but it's such a unique game that it's possible to close an eye on the issues and enjoy the experience. I yet have to begin the DLC that I bought on the last DLC sale, looking forward to that and the next one as well.

Since I mentioned Telltale and glitches, I only just got to playing Episode 3 of The Wolf Among Us, despite owning the pass so having had the episode for weeks now. A pretty funny glitch happened, I'll try to keep it spoiler free: in the final chapter there is a memorable fight, and there's one part where you have to keep pressing tap A fast for a long time to get the part done. I did exactly that, but suddenly (without any game over screens or particular cutscenes to justify things), it rewinded a minute or two to the previous section of the fight, except my opponent was... invisible. That whole scene went on against an invisible dude, and if you know what scene I'm talking about, you know how weird that can be based on the choice you make there. Then it just got back to the tap A part, which ultimately worked this time, but that shit was bizarre.
