This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Gearbox certainly is doing a lot for Aliens: Colonial Marines, that's for sure...
The PC (not sure about console) version of A:CM actually got a patch after release that was like 5gb and helped improve a lot of the problems with the game. It still didnt make the game great, but it definitely made it better. With that being said I seem to enjoy shit games and had a decent time with DNF and am about to start Walking Dead Survival Instincts

Wasn't there an announcement about this about a month ago? I could've swore hearing about the $5 price hike.
I had not heard of that before. That's stupid, our dollar is a few cents off parity but out prices go up $10?! I wonder if it means an increase in prices on the Xbox marketplace as well.

Major Nelson announced a free XBL Gold weekend for the 360 in US and Canada this weekend.  No mention of the Xbox One.  Just a reminder, it provides access to online multiplayer and entertainment apps, but does not make sales / Games with Gold available.

It is stupid, but imagine that us in Italy pay 60-70 Euros for games. The most expensive day one for non-limited editions I can think of was The Orange Box, that thing was 73 Euros on PC - around 100 USD.

Woohoo! Time to get on my trolling account and mess with people in multiplayer! :bouncy:

: )

Like pissing off redneck's wife in GearsOfWar that'll send you tons of hate text/voice msgs flooding your msg.box. I'm familiar with "good and harmless" trolling when you piss ppl off in multiplayer just because you are killing everyone and everything by dominating the match.

I wish the 360 was getting the beta too. Disappointing. Destiny is putting their beta on all plats.
Indeed, especially since the 360 version is made by a different studio. There really needs to be something believeable on that version of the game (reviews, actual gameplay videos, etc.), because personally I'd pick it up, but of course the fear of having a worse version (not just graphics-wise) doesn't help.

I Got mine from the Microsoft Expertzone retailer thingy or whatever. They're suppose to "officially" send them out tomorrow, but they had a thing where if you did a quiz today you get it a day early.
Hope I get one tomorrow then, really looking forward to this game!

Oh good. Thought I wasn't chosen. My luck, they'll hand out the codes while I'm at work, and I'll have to be antsy all day to get home.

I'm actually more excited for the Project Spark beta next week. I had originally shrugged off the game as a Little Big Planet clone, but it actually looks a heck of a lot more fun from the videos that I've seen of the dev team showing off the features.

I need proof its ok i do not want another Aliens CM thing happening but who can even top that lol

I'm playing the beta, and based on graphics, enemies, and sheer magnitude of shit going on, the 360 version won't be anywhere near as good.

The lack of good deals has helped me punish this backlog of games. Just finished up all the Asura's Wrath DLC. Now I can delete it and free up a couple gigs. Next game I have to beat is Godfather 2, then Probably restarting Deadly Premonition because I have no clue what's going on in that game now lol.

I am playing Dead Space right now trying to free the backlog. I was avoiding it because I am a chicken but it turns out it is an awesome game. For 2008, that game really holds up. One of my favs now this last gen.

 I did the exact same thing. Played it for an hour or so, put it down for like six months because I was chicken, then when I finally went back to it I was completely blown away. Played through it three times in a row. One of my favorite games of the generation.

I'm currently addicted to the Olympics so I haven't touched any games in 6 days or so, but I'm glad that I finally started working properly on my backlog. I finished the last 3 episodes I was missing for The Walking Dead (season 1, that is), played both The Wolf Among Us episodes, finished Spec Ops: The Line once (going to do a second run for all the achievements missing), finished Brothers with all achievements too, finished Guwange (with all achievements), KOF Sky Stage (same, all achievements, and these last two surprise me since they're difficult), finished State Of Decay (all achievements bar the DLC which I don't have), plus I completed a couple things I started last year, like Far Cry 3 (missed 2 coop achievements), Crysis 2 (finally finished the campaign), and DOA5 Ultimate (finished storyline and got all achievements I could reasonably do). And I've got more completion and achievement (but still working on these) on NFS Hot Pursuit, FIFA 13, Dead Island, DoDonPachi Resurrection, AC Brotherhood (playing through the whole saga now), and a couple indie games thrown in the mix as well. I don't think I've ever been so productive with my backlog!

Nice. Past couple weeks have been good for getting through the games we already own, at least. I'm kinda hoping the shitty sales continue for awhile.

I've recently gotten into a good Peace Walker kick, and I'm getting back into Dark Souls as well. (Finally) finished Borderlands 2 main game so I'm doing the DLC. Spelunky I keep coming back to until I get demoralized and have to take a break, and after 200+ deaths I still haven't been to Hell.

Then there's the piles of games I've started and probably won't finish for a long time.

oh kingdoms of amalur you know I can't resist your siren call

I am really hoping for a Titan code......this game has given me a quiver up my leg O:)
I just saw this morning that Halo 2 anniversary is coming soon to both XBox consoles......add Titan, and Destiny and this year is looking sweet.

Kingdoms Of Amalur is great, though the base game is going to take you 100 or so hours easily if you aim for 100% completion (including achievements that, luckily, aren't difficult), plus 20 or so more for the DLCs. What might be great for your backlog is that it's an easy game: so even if you haven't played it for weeks/months, you're not going to forget what to do or how to do it, and if you do, you'll still get back into it fairly easily, without dying 2000 times in the process. Unlike what happens when you get back into Dark Souls, where you are instantly reminded that button-mashing does you no good.

I've been the opposite with my backlog lately. After beating 4 games in January, I've spent all of this month playing through Fallout New Vegas. I did knock out a couple DLC's (Dawnguard, ME3 Leviathan) but am also starting a fresh ME3 playthrough this weeknd, so bad news for my backlog all around.

So a bit off-topic, but not really... (and as a bonus, this post isn't about PS+ or using credit through the XBox website, and you don't need to go visit a friend in Oman)

The people in this thread obviously download a LOT of content given your backlogs.  I know some of you use USB sticks and just try to brute-force around the 30GB limit through sheer quantity of sticks.  We've discussed content management before I know.

But who here has had luck with the external attached drives for the original 360's?  I'm talking about 3rd party ones of course, because the MS ones are sized pathetically and priced stupidly.  And I'm not talking about the internal ones because I don't have a Slim.  I'm eyeing the 320GB 3rd party ones right now and reviews are kinda' hit and miss on them.

What does everyone use for storage or their ginormous collections, and do you like it?

A very nice CAG helped me out with a code I was after, so in return I'll offer up my Wolf Among Us episode 2 code.  PM if you want it.

Somebody snagged it.  Thanks for playing.  :grouphug:

So if I haven't gotten a Titanfall beta code by now, am I probably not getting one? Or did a lot of people do whatever to get their's a day early?

Halo 2 anny. .. where was that announced at?!
Master Chief said it

They said on Twitter that keys will be rolling out the next few days. Already too many people on the servers and they are trying to get more set up.

It seems likely we'll get the remastered versions of the previous 4 halo games on xbox one instead of halo 5 this year. Which I'm all for, especially halo 2 if they keep the original mp and not use the craptastic reach mp.

I Have a 250GB HDD for my fatty 360 and a slim 360 4GB that I own a 250GB and 320GB HDD. I Mostly just use my Elite 250GB fatty mostly because it's still good, but I got two 32GB USB sticks plugged into it and a 16GB on the side as well. I Don't mind it that much, the real only downside is that it takes awhile to load things from the HDD to the stick or vice versa (like loading a GoD or any full sized game will take 30-45 minutes), but this maybe because it's USB 2.0. Eitherway it still plays fine with no problems that I've noticed and I mostly just load my USB with DLC of games I haven't beaten or want to revisit (Rock Band and other rhythm games).

As for 3rd party hard drives, the only downside I've heard about them is they don't play the limited library of original XBox games if that makes a difference. Besides that I don't think I've heard much else in terms of any other negatives for going third party. People have said that you can get banned, but that has never been given any proof as far as I can tell.

I told myself that I was going to really hit my backlog hard at the beginning of the year and I got through four games by Jan. 10th and now only one since then. I've also tried to watch the Olympics as much as I can, but what has been the worst is that my six and eight year old nephews have been over a lot and we've been playing the hell out of NHL 94, they can't get enough of it.

I finally got around to playing Sleeping Dogs and holy shit is this game bad ass. I seem to enjoy games like SD and Saints Row 4 more than GTA 5 even though that's supposed to be the granddaddy of all sandbox games.

I fought some dudes in a club and tossed one guy into a fuckin AQUARIUM, VIOLENTLY, causing the glass to shatter. Then I beat another guys ass with a fish. I was sold.

I'll give my code for A Wolf Among us Episode 2 to the first CAG who can jump on xbl right now and help me get the 10 online ranked wins achievement in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (discontinued stand alone). It is worth 2 points, and well get my gamerscore back to ending in 5 or 0. It's stupid, I know, but it bugs me mildly. Message me if you can help out right now.

turducken(thats how I always read your name lol) - lobbies are dead for sure.
