This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

If it's ranked then doesn't that mean you can't set up matches and it's still a matter of the luck of the draw? Or are the lobbies all dead? I'm going to assume the lobbies are dead.

This has been another post of "Let Me Think This Out In Real Time."

Sleeping Dogs is pretty rad. The DLC, not as much.

Kingdoms Of Amalur is great, though the base game is going to take you 100 or so hours easily if you aim for 100% completion (including achievements that, luckily, aren't difficult), plus 20 or so more for the DLCs. What might be great for your backlog is that it's an easy game: so even if you haven't played it for weeks/months, you're not going to forget what to do or how to do it, and if you do, you'll still get back into it fairly easily, without dying 2000 times in the process. Unlike what happens when you get back into Dark Souls, where you are instantly reminded that button-mashing does you no good.
Dark Souls definitely demands patience. One of few games, though, that once I get into I can easily play for hours at a time.

I'll give my code for A Wolf Among us Episode 2 to the first CAG who can jump on xbl right now and help me get the 10 online ranked wins achievement in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. It is worth 2 points, and well get my gamerscore back to ending in 5 or 0. It's stupid, I know, but it bugs me mildly. Message me if you can help out right now.

turducken(thats how I always read your name lol) - lobbies are dead for sure.
I'm still waiting for the lobbies in the disc version of Mortal Kombat to be dead so I can get the 10 online ranked wins in a row achievement. >.>

I own UMK3, SSF IV, KOF XIII, MvC origins, MvC2, UMvC 3, SF4 Turbo, and I never intend to play online because its saddening to get my ass kicked so quickly. Why did I buy these games?!?! Why must they all have such long names that they require initialism?!?!

oh right... because CAG. well at least none were bought full price.

I love fighting games to death, and continue to buy basically all of them, even though the last times I was actually good at one was Street Fighter II Turbo on SNES and Soul Calibur on Dreamcast.

I told myself that I was going to really hit my backlog hard at the beginning of the year and I got through four games by Jan. 10th and now only one since then. I've also tried to watch the Olympics as much as I can, but what has been the worst is that my six and eight year old nephews have been over a lot and we've been playing the hell out of NHL 94, they can't get enough of it.
Ooooooh man. The glory days of NHL games. For the love of god, keep them playing!! Soon it will turn into FIFA 64 w/ a bunch of loons and guitars sitting around singing merrily while dodging projectiles. Wait a sec... Anywho, thanks for the nostalgia!!

As for 3rd party hard drives, the only downside I've heard about them is they don't play the limited library of original XBox games if that makes a difference. Besides that I don't think I've heard much else in terms of any other negatives for going third party. People have said that you can get banned, but that has never been given any proof as far as I can tell.
Thanks. I don't care about the original XBox games at this point (did at one time, but not at this late stage). I did hear you can download a program that will reformat and partition the HD so that the XBox emulator works with it.

I know some people have said the HD's contained in them are usually Western Digital or name-brand and seem to be rock-solid, but the enclosures sometimes have connection problems, and people have had to crack them open and swap the enclosures. Which I could do in a pinch since I know my smaller HD enclosure works fine.

I think I'm gonna' jump on it. I really want to get those GWG games and a few others loaded before vacation and right now NCAA 14 that I got in the Countdown Sale is the only big game I've managed to keep on and play at the moment (and it's going nowhere, love it).

BTW, bunck, I hear ya' with NHL 94. I bought a Sega Genesis/CD system and got NHL 94 CD with it, and I keep finding myself popping it in and playing it.

Haha, good thing my family is into Olympics as well, so they don't mind that it's almost all that goes on TV in this house atm. Up until that, however, I did manage to complete plenty of stuff, so I'm glad. There's no way in hell I'm ever going to finish my backlog, since I'm pretty sure I already bought more games than I finished this year (or at least close to equal), but it's something.

up next in my backlog que is either Killer is Dead or Dead Pool, which should I do hmmm??

just finished Hitman Absolution, what a cool fucking game. I played it on easy so it was like all the guards were extremely slow witted, this game is dirt cheap by now anyone who hasnt played it should check it out. Im not normally a big stealth guy either, but it was a lot of fun.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I know people smarter than I on here can give me a quick answer.  I did try to research but I can't find a clear answer with my circumstance.

I have a full official 350 GB hard drive in my xbox with a lot more content than it can hold.  I have 3 unofficial 32 gb hard drives, and they are fussy and I have a bunch of content that just refuses to DL onto them.  Can I buy another official hard drive and download the rest of my games onto that?  Also I have my profiles saved on my hard drive, would that cause a problem if I take it out and try to download additional games onto another HD or are the profiles saved onto the console to, or should I transfer the profiles onto the 4gb memory included with the console?

Thanks in advance and if anyone wants 3 32 gb thumb drives let me know!

Playing Lego Movie game and noticed that I cannot record any cutscenes (scenes from the movie). Says error if the scene is still playing and doesn't record the scene if ending the clip after the scene.

Any other games that do this?

As long as that's the 360 you used to download all that content originally or did a license transfer, you should have no problems with switching off between hard drives back and forth. Plus putting your profile on 4GB is fine, otherwise if you didn't you'd have to just download your profile so each HDD has one, but really I think putting it on the already on system 4GB is best way to go.

What does everyone use for storage or their ginormous collections, and do you like it?
I have two 320GB HDD's. They're original Xbox HDD's, though you can find non-official ones cheaper that work just the same. They work fine, I change them depending on the game I want to play and I don't even re-download or pass my profile to a usb stick or something like that, since if you turn on the console while connected to internet, your gamerscore and such is automatically updated.

Waiting for Hitman Absolution to be free with GwG. If that's not the case, I'm cool not playing it (huge backlog).

I'd go with Deadpool, mate :D

So I ended up getting a Titanfall Beta code this morning.  My friend did not want it so I threw it up on Ebay for $45 and it sold in about 10 minutes.  I had already been dinged last year for posting codes so I wanted to sell it fast.  Crazy thing is that it sounds like they plan to send more out.  I really don't understand what possess a person to spend that kind of money.

Seriously, for a game that comes out in less than a month! I really wish I had signed up for one now though, I saw when it first started but not xbone so I didn't bother. Didn't even think about eBay doh!

AND those people will buy it day one, so they will have spent over $100 on a game, which is like the antithesis of a CAG.

I can't even remember which email I used to enter for the beta and now I'm too lazy to check through them all.

Although speaking of betas, I got my Warface code yesterday but I haven't played it yet. Excited to see what it's like.

I don't get it either. That money someone spends on the beta code could have gone towards map packs or "premium" crap that EA likes.

So I ended up getting a Titanfall Beta code this morning. My friend did not want it so I threw it up on Ebay for $45 and it sold in about 10 minutes. Yeah, didn't get a code yet. Word is, they're going to be sending out more in phases, up through 11:59pm on the 17th.

At this point, I just want something to play on the One. The beta for Project Spark may be coming next week, or we may be waiting as late as early March.

C'mon, I can only get so much enjoyment out of replaying the launch games I bought...

I can't even remember which email I used to enter for the beta and now I'm too lazy to check through them all.

Although speaking of betas, I got my Warface code yesterday but I haven't played it yet. Excited to see what it's like.
Looks like Titanfall is forcing them to send out more codes, which is funny because that's how the release will probably be like. Or I could just be insanely bitter that I haven't gotten it yet. Maybe. Nah can't be that.

It seems likely we'll get the remastered versions of the previous 4 halo games on xbox one instead of halo 5 this year. Which I'm all for, especially halo 2 if they keep the original mp and not use the craptastic reach mp.
Oh god, please let the engine be the same. Super bounce for dayssss. =D

Am I the only sucker for pawn shop deals....I just grabbed Crysis 2 and Bayanette for $3 each. That's what happens when the deal of the week sucks ass, my inner CAG must hunt deals .....must create more backlog. One day one of us will be featured on hoarders :D

I always have terrible luck at finding cheap stuff at yard sales/pawn shops/etc, were they really priced at 3 bucks or did you haggle to get that?

They had GTA 5 for $30, but with the negatives I've heard here I decided not to grab it. They also had PS4 games already which surprised me. He said they haven't seen any XBox one games yet but lots of PS4.

I also heard negatives about GTAV. However, I'm fishing Sleeping Dogs and absolutely love that game! If you haven't played SD the game is based of GTA idea: heist, theft, drive vehicles, fight, shoot, story line & tons of sub-missions. To say I was never big fan of GTA kind of games, the only GTA's I ever played was GTA3 on PS2 and Vice City, that's it.

Now I downloaded SD for free with GwG and decided to give it a shoot, turns out I love the game : ) SD is all about Asian gang fights (Triads), and action takes place in Hong Kong. If you ever seen HK action movies SD reminds me of Asian action-martial arts movie; lol you get to hear Asian rap and pop songs on radio when you drive cars.

Anyhow I'm finishing SD, since I'm really enjoying it I'm thinking about going back to GTA series. Don't know about GATIV but GTAV seems promising - It made up to 3 billion USD in just first week of its release, RockStar made some serious money with this game  and all that hype.

Yes ppl might talk negative about GTAV but it deserves consideration IMHO. I need to play GTAV before I'm going to rule out any verdicts.

Sleeping Dogs was f**king awesome. I had fun the entire game. If you like the whole detective aspect LA Noire was a lot of fun too.

Damn Crysis 2 for $3, lol that's right up my cheapass valley. I hope the disc was in great condition, that's what worries me the most. I recently got super sweet deal on Diablo 3 but when I received the game it had nasty circular scratch and it affected gameplay pretty bad, game would crash and not load at certain points.

I love them cheapass hard copies but I really pay attention to condition of the disc, especially with Xbox DVD's.

They were on sale a few months back. Not that sales haven't repeated. But I wouldn't hold my breath on it being soon.
yeah I should have grabbed them, but I had the first game sitting in my backlog and didn't know how great it was yet. Luckily a CAG on this thread sold me one of the dlcs for a good price.

Really? I tried hard to get into Sleeping Dogs but I just can't play it more than 30-60 minutes without getting bored. I think I'm going to delete it because that 7GB will be helpful for some other game.

As for LA Noire, I absolutely loved that game! It's interesting, different and makes you think about it before questioning/investigating more. Plus, the DLCs are a blast to play!

I just loved the whole B Karate feel to sleeping dogs. Plus the story was fun. My biggest complaint was the crazy camera freak outs whenever you tried to reverse a vehicle.

I'm hoping for Alan Wake dlc and AW American Nightmare.
I'm a huge AW fan and the DLC is so worth it. It's trippy, but fun. American Nightmare was just okay. I wanted to love it, but the story elements didn't have a lot of weight. The horde mode would have been perfect if it was co-op with Player two playing as Barry, lol!

Do you recommend skipping American Nightmare?

I got one too. I'm going to use it instead of putting it on Ebay. Prices are low and I've had bad experiences in the past selling codes on Ebay. I'm really looking forward to playing it.
