This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

You guys are insane. Double Dragon Neon is the best XBLA game that isn't a port of an existing game.

The Steam version (with online play) was recently announced so uh....maybe the console version will go on sale soon.

Yeah, I don't understand where this Double Dragon Neon hate is coming from. I Bought it last year and the soundtrack, gameplay and jokes were fantastic. Easily one of the better beat'em ups on XBL.

And if it were to come to Games With Gold it'd have a better chance if it were to have gone on sale at least once...and be released by a big company and have DLC and come out way over a year ago.

Indeed, the game and the soundtrack are amazing. Would be great if they release an online patch for the game (for free, of course, not like Scott Pilgrim).

Can't blame a company for charging for a patch if they themselves are being charged to release it. Losing money is never good business. Of course, MS has since ditched that BS policy so the odds that you will see a developer charge for a patch from here on out....well, odds are you will win the lotto and become a multi-millionare before that happens again.

Thanks! Sounds like I'm probably picking up Underworld. I'm really looking forward to the Xbox One version of the newest Tomb Raider. I don't expect the changes to be large, but that's not a bad thing in this case.
You will enjoy Underworld more if you play Legend first, since the storyline from Underworld is a continuation of the Legend storyline. Its not mandatory, but the story won't resonate like it would had you played Legend first. Legend isn't just Lara running around looking for trinkets. There is a significant storyline to Legend, one that continues on through Underworld. It just won't hold the same weight if you skip Legend altogether. If your a fan of Tomb Raider, your doing yourself a disservice by skipping Legend. I for one thoroughly enjoyed Legend. I thought the story element was really well done.

Agreed. Anniversary adds a bit of extra insight on the storyline, but it's Legend that needs to be played the most to understand the story for Underworld, which is surprisingly good for a Tomb Raider game (the ones in the first 5 games were not always brilliant). However, story or not, there's plenty of action, exploration and satisfying gameplay, though obviously the final hours of the game will be a lot more enjoyable if both games are played. Again, you can get this whole trilogy of games for 20$, if I didn't already have all of them I'd likely dig into them now because they're great games.

When first announced, I thought Hydrophobia sounded awesome.  After playing the free demo I'm wondering if it's even worth $2.99. Any opinions on the rest of the game?

It's mixed reviews when I asked about it. Some people said it was garbage. Some said it was good. Some said it was good because of the water physics. Some said it was bad because of the story. If you enjoyed the demo, I would get it for $2.99. Decent price if you ask me. I bought it a few weeks ago.

Still holding out for a Mass Effect & Rock Band sale. Seems like I've gotten to the point where I have everything that goes on sale, whether it's deal of the week, publisher sales or games with gold. Sad days.....
I've been holding out for a ME sale for a long time now. It's about due for Citadel to have it's 50% off sale anytime like the other DLC pieces did in the past. Need all non-free ME2 stuff, Pinnacle Station and Citadel.

Marvel Super Hero Squad: Infinity Gauntlet is now delisted from XBL and PSN. So only survivor of the Marvel digital purging for now is the Marvel Pinball FX 2 tables I guess?

I thought the general consensus around here was that it's not even worth a dollar. HORRIBLE GAME. Well that's my opinion atleast.

I need ME 1 to go on sale (or be a G4G title). The damn thing is still $10-15 used!!

You might be thinking of Amy.

Hydrophobia used to be complete trash. Now it's just meh thanks to a massive update.
Yeah, Hydrophobia was mediocre. Nothing horrible, nothing amazing; but it was passable as a game after the patch. There are much (MUCH) worse games out there on XBL than Hydrophobia.

It's much better if you have access to Hydrophobia: Prophecy on PC and PS3. That version has an actual end boss and a lot better gameplay improvements.

Yes I have heard of Amy, I know that's bad and I didn't have it confused with Hydrophobia. But I have a question: if there are XBLA games worse then Hydrophobia (besides Amy), what are they?

Hydrophobia is not that bad. I played it before the patch and enjoyed it. The patch is supposed to have made it better.

A 7.6 on Metacritic from gamers is not that bad. For $2.99 its def worth it for some fun. I think it was the first game  played where I didn't hate the water. If you played the demo and liked it then you should get.

Although I do agree with captpluto9465 that Xbla got screwed with the lesser version.

Totemball and Yaris /discussion
Quoted for Yaris. I don't think there's anything non-indie that can get worse than that on the Xbox. It looks and plays like some bad flash game from 2002. When we talk about Amy, Hydrophobia, we get some bad design choices mostly, but the game is not a complete mess, as the controls, graphics, and so on work okay. When we think Duke Nukem Forever or Aliens: Colonial Marines, we think games with tons of bugs and unfulfilled promises, but that have some basic gameplay that is somewhat working and somewhat satisfying. But Yaris? Don't lie to yourselves, you played more polished (and better-looking) Flash games from 2002. At least it's free.

My vote for worst goes to Brave.

Totemball didn't even work. Meaning the controls (which used the XBox Vision Cam) was so finicky and imprecise that it took pure luck just to move forward. I Don't know how any other game can beat that in terms of nearly anything.

Watch with all this talk, we're gonna get trolled by MS now and get a DOTW sale with all the lowest rated games out there.

I feel like Amy should be considered over Totemball and Yaris strictly based off the years in between their releases. You're telling me that you made a game on their level in 2012?! Kind of thinking they were sick of hearing Yaris being the worst ever, so they attempted (and succeeded imo) to top it.

Another XBLA nightmare is Battle Los Angeles. I may just be upset still that I shelled out too much cash buying it, but I remembered hating it. Got in on sale from somewhere in between $3-5 too.

Does anyone know if Dark Souls, Artorias of the Abyss DLC has been on sale before?. Been looking to get it along with ME1 and Fallout.

At least they tried to fix Amy (I think). Yaris is still worse. Although at least Yaris has always been free, so it's hard to tell.

Battle: Los Angeles wasn't that bad. Sure, it wasn't a good game, but at least the easy achievements were a redeemable factor. Sucked you had to play the game three times to get 100%.

Anyone ever tell that you're either incredibly bad at researching things, or just plain lazy? You'll post twice asking a question instead of at least consulting Wikipedia? C'mon son.

Smack in the middle of the wiki page:
Has anyone ever told you that you're an asshole and at the time I posted said question I was at work and was just looking for an answer before before I got home... Its people like you that really ruin a good thing for others. Its a lot easier for me to post here than it is to sit and look up information on Wikipedia while I'm on the clock. I even did research... Nearly all of Tue first page info I could find was all regarding the ps4 version. I didn't know if thuere were 360 exclusive costumes or not.
Excuse me for thinking that my favorite message board would have given me a friendly answer...

How about that Double Dragon II remake? I remember even the description for that was laughable. Which was disappointing, because I would have bought it for nostalgia if it was half good.
Can you move forward in Double Dragon II? If so than it's still no where as bad as Totemball. While Yaris in comparison I can at least say Double Dragon II "tries" to be a beat em up, I don't even know what the fuck Yaris is. It felt like one of those promotional games on the XBox Dashboard ad squares, but instead they called it a full game, but kept the exact same production values and didn't advance past that. With that said, I don't know what genre Yaris even is. Is it a racer? On rails shooter? It looks like it, but feels nothing like it, it's like it created a whole new genre of crap that never existed before. So yeah, without even playing Double Dragon II I can still easily say Totemball and Yaris still are on the top of the poop throne.

Double Dragon Neon was so good. Why was the sequel so terrible?
Two different companies released and published it. Double Dragon II was in development way before Neon even was in terms of releasing promotional videos and shots, but was delayed constantly. While Neon was made my Wayforward and released by Majesco and was awesome. So it's not a sequel, but instead two different companies somehow have the licensing rights to Double Dragon.
