This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Can someone explain the current xbox HDD's out there. I have an Xbox Slim and a 250GB HDD. Can I install games and play them from the USB sticks?(I'm guessing no). Is there a 500 GB or higher Xbox HDD out there? I don't feel like spending $130 on a 320GB HDD. I'm running out of space and I'd like to have my entire XBOX library digitally.

Any help is appreciated.

Yes.
No. Only 320gb.

Finished playing the Phantom Breaker demo. What the hell, guys? You talk about this side scrolling fighter without mentioning the 8 bit graphics and music homage? That is enough for me to ignore the stiff controls. I wish you could jump with the A button instead of pushing Up. The Scott Pilgrim game is better, but Phantom Breaker is good enough for a $5 purchase.

While I'm waiting for the Blood Knights demo to finish, I'm playing Ninja Gaiden Black. What the hell, guys? Here I am on Chapter 2 and I die after four hits on this boss that rides on his horse while two phantom ghost ninjas are attacking me as I try to attack them. Oh, and I just loooooove when this horseman grabs you with his staff, drags you along, throws Ryu up in the air, and it's GAME OVER.

Geez! It's no wonder why people hate this game.

For the campaign in the DLC, can you use any squad mates or do they have to be the same ones on ME 3?
Some sections are solo, some have squad mates.

There is a repeatable "arena" in the area post-campaign that has lots of squad mate options depending on how you spend your credits.

PB was to stiff and slow worth $2 to me so i pass..

I wouldn't call it the worst game ending ever either, it's just poor to mediocre. I think the reason people get so upset about it is that the rest of the series is so amazing that ending with that just pisses people off. It was a missed opportunity to put a crowning moment on one of the greatest video game series of all time.
Agreed as well. I'd equate it to Showtime's Dexter series. One of the very few TV series I got into(it is a truly awesome murder/drama btw) that ended poorly. Just a missed opportunity and puts the focus on the crappy ending instead of everything before which was so brilliant.

In the end, I focus on the characters and their journeys instead of the crappy ending. Kinda like how some people block out the Star Wars prequels O:)

Yeah, even though I and a lot of other people greatly enjoyed it, I will admit that it was extremely "fan servicey" and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who would argue otherwise. It does have a hell of a lot of content, but much of that is the squadmate meetups and the party. It does also add a whole extra section of the Citadel as a hub area, which contains the Armax Arsenal Arena that I mentioned before, as well as a casino and an arcade with some mini-games (but again, this has nothing to do with the "campaign" itself).

Like I said, the campaign is fun and it also has some pretty interesting locations. You can also learn a few small things about the lore of the series in certain parts of it. But there is no part of it that is not tongue-in-cheek and filled to the brim with fan service. I would say that the DLC does have a lot of substance, but the majority of that substance is fan service. It would be impossible to even gauge how much substance the DLC would have without the fan service, because without the fan service it would be a completely different DLC.
Thanks again. You've helped me reach a decision. I'm going to pass on it for now.

Hopefully we get fun enjoyable games for next month. After finally reaching lvl 50 in bioshock 2, I need a funny and good game asap!! I do have Deadpool in the backlog though

I'm also very curious about the next free games, MS really raised the game with the previous month (though due to my crazy backlog, I yet have to touch Sleeping Dogs, and I already had Lara Croft + all DLCs). I just hope it won't be something on sale very recently (like Sleeping Dogs, which probably caught a lot of people off-guard) - let's face it, there have been some ridicolous sales in the past year, and personally I got over 100 new games between retail, digital, GwG and stuff, so it's fairly easy it's a game we already got on sale. I'll keep my hopes up, though. I'd like a good racing game, we didn't have one yet: a Need For Speed, Blur (I already have it but I'd love the online community to live again), a Test Drive, something like that.

Im still wondering if I should get Phantom Breaker but I just cant seem to get myself to buy it. I have played the demo a couple of times and found it enjoyable but I think ill pass on the game.

For the campaign in the DLC, can you use any squad mates or do they have to be the same ones on ME 3?
The only new one is Wrex. Other than that, you can only use the regular ME3 squadmates during the campaign.

You can, however, unlock most of the ME2 characters for use as squadmates in the Armax Arsenal Arena once the campaign is finished.

And for the person who asked, no, Citadel has no effect whatsoever on the ending.

Thank You sir, I totally relay to you point of view. Seriously: "what the hell, guys?"

Not only 8 bit graphics but the super cute characters in dresses and colorful jewels as game points. : / You know If I was a girl I would probably enjoy Phantom Breakers BG, maybe, ...BIG MAYBE.

Also Thank You for bringing up Scott Pilgrim now that's what I call a street brawler, even though it's all 8 bitish but soundtrack is absolutely amazing and whole game is a wonderful experience.

You know what I would do, I would hack into Phantom Breakers BG as Scott Pilgrim character and lift up Mikoto's skirt, along with Itsuki's and Yuzuha's, actually I would steal Yuzuha's skirt and would let her fight without the skirt.

Truth that, Scott Pilgrim game tears skirts off Phantom BreakersBG big time. Personally I would not pay even &1.50 for Phantom Breakers BG.

Don't hold it against me, just expressing my opinion and taste.

Dude as Ninja Gaiden fan I would advise to brace yourself and try to unlock you inner patience.

I see you are starting from the first installment and that is actually really nice. It will give insight on the Hardness of the sequels. To mention they actually toned down on hardness in Ninja Gaiden 3 yet still its pretty hard game.

Like master ninja would say: "It all comes down to skill" The more skillful you'll become the easier it is to grind through Ninja Gaiden and its grueling HARD difficulties mode. I don't remember a game that I cursed and yelled as much as I did in NG, shit, it took a lot of my energy. However, the harder the effort the sweater the reward! Ohh that sweetness of beating the game on the hardest difficulty made me grow wings and fly around the house.

Now if you really struggle they have plenty of walkthroughs on Youtube, but I would advise to hone your own skills and learn enemy patterns. Bosses may be extremely hard but when you learn and know their patterns they become walk in the park.

In addition use 'block', 'block' is your friend in NG, it'll save your life.

After countless deaths and startovers you'll get better and better and better.

Actually the question you need to ask yourself is: do I really wanna play this game and die frequently? Its your choice to make, there are lots of games out there that are much more easier to beat.

It's the 18th anniversary of Duke Nukem 3d, so it could be a good candidate for GwG, in the line of old/crappy games.

getting my ass kicked in Ninja Gaiden was one of most fun and rewarding experiences in my life

When I finally got past Alma on Master Ninja I was pumped as hell lol

I predict we'll get one of the Borderlands and Bioshock games for Games With Gold or Spec Ops The Line one of these months. This is all based on their willingness to give those games away on PS+. As GWG progresses we'll see similar offerings. That's perfectly fine with me since I prefer multiplatform titles on Xbox.

I guess I'm in the minority with the original ME3 ending. It's kind of what I expected and I was happy with my decision. I haven't seen the Extended Cut yet. For people who were dissatisfied? What kind of ending were you expecting? Specifically, what would have made a satisfying ending in your opinion? People like to bitch and moan and that's easy. I prefer constructive criticism.

At least for me, it wasnt so much the ending itself I had a problem with, it was the abruptness of it and how it left so little resolved. Extended Cut improved on that.

Damn. I know i shouldn't hold out for a higher than 50% sale on Citadel (just look at how long its been since ME2 DLC went on sale), but seeing that over $5 price makes me want to wait since I haven't even finished part one. I really miss MS points. 600 points looks like a much sweeter deal than $7.49

And whats up with Major this year, no two weeks previews. His site is worthless to us now. Spylon's site is faster and clearer than his. All he had was the following weaks preview going for him and now that's gone.

getting my ass kicked in Ninja Gaiden was one of most fun and rewarding experiences in my life

When I finally got past Alma on Master Ninja I was pumped as hell lol
I think we share same outlook on Ninja Gaiden. In my book NG takes that sweet tough spot. Rember when the first demo of NG came out on firstXbox - I was clapping my hands and voicing out adoring praise that someone actually created the game like I wanted Ninja game to actually be. I think I sang: Hallelujah. That game is definitely a masterpiece and I'd like to shake Tomonobu Itagaki's hand, good hand shake, guy always wears sunglasses  if you seen interviews, lol probably wears sunglasses to scan down chicks from DOA unnoticed.

Yes NG delivers that hard but superbly rewarding experience. Unfortunately I don't play as much as I used to play, I do have copy of NG3: Razor's Edge - love that game and the girls of course

Pretty much everything Anamanaguchi touches is excellent, if you liked what they did for Scott Pilgrim you should check out some of their other stuff.
I already downloaded Scott Pilgrim game soundtrack and have Bollywood tune playing as a ring tone on my phone, its a bit annoying but its my jam :bouncy:

btw thank you for posting other Anamanaguchi stuff I will def. check it out.

Edit: Have listened to them tracks, and I like Endless Fantasy - Endless Fantasy

I came here to post about this game. Is it just the aesthetics that you guys are going crazy about? This forum has been hyping this game like crazy and it seems like just another beat em up. It reminded me of Scott Pilgrim as well. The combat itself is kinda ordinary though. And the enemies are way too easy. Is that going to change?

The biggest problem is the stiffness. Dash doesn't always work. And jumping left or right seems like it works maybe 1 in 5 times. I keep jumping straight up. It's like the game doesn't respond quickly enough to the controls. The cute girls beating people up along with the Babidi/Majin Buu plot and the little sister kidnapping could be interesting but with THE backlog idk.

Even though I own all the BL and BS games already, it'd still be awesome to have one of them be a GWG.

IMO, the problem I had with the original ME3 "endings" is
the fact that they were all the same. Almost shot for shot with minor differences, they the exact same ending. I joked earlier that it could be fine if you onIy played through on ONE Shepard, but I spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours, shaping my Shepards to be different people each and every time: the badass with a heart of gold, the super bitch, the neutral always on the fence, etc. A series where your decisions made a difference in how other characters interacted with you, constantly drumming this idea into you where the choices you made MATTERED. And when I reach the end, what happens? I get to CHOOSE the ending I want. My decisions ultimately DID NOT MATTER. I fought the entire time for machine-human equality, but at the end I can choose to destroy the shit out of both? Or I could fight for the machines, but right before the end switch sides and betray them? The way you shaped Shepard's ideals, his or her morals, and views on the universe, none of it meant anything. And to put insult upon injury, even if you completely abandoned your character at the end, all that changed was the tint of the ending (and a couple of NPC deaths). You don't have other main characters reacting to anything differently, no scenes or anything to make it feel like you went on a journey to save the universe. You could've replaced the entire series with the intro of the first game cutting to a game show where you choose a door from a set of three to find your ending.

The extended cut somewhat fixes this...you at least get to see some scenes of what happens to the people you've journeyed with for years and years and some dialogue about what happens afterwards. But that main problem of being able to choose your ending is still there. I wouldn't have minded being forced into an ending based upon your character's choices. Hell, even keep in that last "conversation" just to help explain everything, but a game where you get to choose the ending you want like a multiple choice quiz makes the entire game pointless.

I've used both a regular 360 control and an arcade stick while playing it and I've had zero problems with the controls and I dash and jump regularly. Maybe it's a pacing thing? Phantom Breakers is much more in the league of Guardian Heroes when it comes to beat em ups, where Scott Pilgrim was way more traditional. I think there's way more to the combat then you felt there was as well. I mean, canceling alone gives way more options for combos than other games would.

I enjoyed the hell out of Scott Pilgrim, by the by.

Playing Mass Effect 3 finally gives me this weird, weird feeling; which is looking around at all the characters in the game it's one of the few times I can say "YOU'RE ALL ALIVE BECAUSE OF ME!!"

Considering how sporadically EA has put Mass Effect 3's DLC on sale, I would go ahead and buy Citadel now if you even have a remote interest in playing through the series. As far as I know, most of the Mass Effect 3 DLC has only been put on sale once so far. As for a silver lining to paying 50% instead of 75% off, almost all the reviews I have seen for Citadel are positive. Apparently, this DLC serves as a better Epilogue than the actual Extended Cut ending!

This is even better if you consider one of the possible endings for Mass Effect 2 where none of the loyalty missions are completed, the Normandy is not upgraded at all, and every possible player choice during the final mission is the wrong one. We're talking Shakespearean levels of tragedy here.

Just wanted to chime in and say that with Alice coming with the original for that $7.39, it's a pretty sweet deal. Saw there was some talk about the camera/combat in the original being pretty bad, and while it is definitely dated I still felt it was passable considering the age of it, and the worlds/area design in both of the games are really well done, so it's worth it for those IMO.

Agreed. It did not age too well but it's a piece of art. Combined with Madness Returns which is absolutely gorgeous and genius, at that price there's no excuses for skipping. It's such level of art that one can easily look past some gameplay issues (nothing big though).

Agreed 100%. If you have any interest in this DLC please pick it up this week, it will be a long time before it goes on sale again and even longer to hit 75% off. It's worth the extra couple bucks!

American McGee's Alice is definitely a trip. It's basically Quake with a third person camera, but still using FPS controls. The level design is spectacular. And it's hard, even on the easiest setting, but save-state abuse will get you through. :)

Haha I spent hours making sure I had the loyalty of the squad (at least until the arguments) and the ship was upgraded substantially because I wanted the characters to be in ME 3. At the end of the day, it didn't even matter (barring a couple characters) the rest just had cameos (my poor, poor Miranda!)

Damn i want Toy Story 3

Has that ever gone on sale?

That would be an awesome game for next month
Not sure about it being $5, xbldb shows $10 at best, but it has been on sale before! I personally wouldn't peg it as a high chance of being part of the GwG program.

I think they stick with the Arcade/Retail combo once again. No idea what the Arcade game could be, but my guess is something from the Bioshock series or Halo Wars for the Retail game.

If they put a Bioshock game on GwG people would riot. Each of those games were JUST on sale less than a month ago. So i highly doubt that they'd make the decision to do that. Someone guessed Crysis 2 earlier. I'd be willing to place my bets there considering Crysis 1 and 3 are both on sale at the moment.
