This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

DCU is on PS3 and PS4.
Ah. Didn't know that.

My point was more toward the why haven't we seen World of Warcraft on consoles, and apparently, Blizzard came out back in November, saying that we may seen more of their franchises finally make the leap in the next couple of years. Guess there is hope...

Technically, Activision can't do anything because Blizzard's parent company bought them, so Blizzard calls/called their own shots. Maybe their next MMO, whenever they figure out what they want it to be, will come to consoles in a few years.

Weren't they working on something called Titan? Wonder whatever happened to that...

These new consoles are probably the first ones that can really handle MMO's well since they are so PC like. The artificial barrier between PC and console keeps getting thinner.

So for people who beat Episode 2 of AWAU, did it feel shorter than Episode 1 but with a lot more glitches? The damn game managed to freeze up my console 3 times  :wall:

More slow down than episode 1, but nowhere near as bad as TWD. I remember having to do a part over 10 times because the game video froze while a zombie ate my face.

My god, man, you can't fluff with lines from Transformers the Movie and not finish off with Stan Bush.
I h... hmm ... umm ... ewwwww. I have no idea what you are talking about. I know that song is in the Saints Row 4 playlist, and it is awesome. Speaking of which ....

Is there a debate over whether Grand Theft Auto or Saint's Row series is better? Because from the little I played of Saints Row, I had a lot more fun.

These sales aren't bad, but I felt like they just did this (or Rockstar sales in general).
Also, I noticed that the outfit/weapon pack dlc packs for Fable Anniversary are showing as 50% off until February 13th. They are $2.49 each. That would mean these are all going to be $5 a pop after that, which is ludicrous.
I will have to apologize for badmouthing this week's Deal of the Week offerings. While I too am tired of always seeing GTA4 content burning away one of my paid subscription's 52 weekly discounts of a year (since a complete edition is available for cheap already), I will give it credit for offering something new in discounting GTA5. Although it is understandable that a relatively new release, I still wish for the price to be lower for a digital purchase. However, I think the discounts on the Fable Anniversary DLC made up a bit for the week, even though the content is for unlock keys makes the prices feel a bit inflated (which will be worse if they do double in price); at least it is new content that's "discounted." Remember, xbldb may not have caught this sale because it is a debut discount price which will be marked as a price increase when the sale ends. I also wonder if the retailer specific preorder bonuses will eventually be offered up on the marketplace as well.

For those who care, Strider will be out on february 19th.
I care! My hype for the game doesn't stop, a metroidvania game as I remembered in its NES release with the moveset from Strider 2/Marvel Vs. series, exactly what I want. The Striders, they are the toughest group of people who execute acts as infiltration, abduction, explosion, instigation, etc. ... and I will likely buy it even at its release price of 1200MSP (so I am feeling at this moment, but the CAG logic may kick in later)!

It's already been addressed by the developer. You wont see as long as a gap between the first two episodes, for the rest of the game/story/other episodes.
Well, I remember a comic I enjoyed called Bone by Jeff Smith, which Telltale was going to retell. They never did finish. I read that their Back to the Future series ended with a "to be continued" as well. These days, I feel Telltale keeps announcing more and more projects, from a new season of The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones, The Wolf Among Us, etc. that maybe I made a poor decision making the purchase on my 360 when I am not sure if Telltale will continue all these on the 360 if they ever choose to close out a story. I'd like to think my past decisions would have some effect on later releases in the same series, but in a transitional phase of consoles I may not have that luxury. Ah well, my backlog affords me the time to continue to wait on my season pass such that I can play through the season in rapid succession (I prefer not to wait for 'the next episode' in watching TV or playing a narrative-based episodic game that way).

Now that the Fable Anniversary sale kicked in, I am left to my imagination for the new discounts next week. We know the upcoming XBLA games are Far Cry Classic and Lococycle, so Major Nelson needs to spill the beans soon for more than just the present week. Last time I made a bad prediction that it is Sega's turn for Live discounts especially with their most iconic character, Danica Patrick, but instead they went ahead and announced some 3D Sonic game. At least there was a hint by someone who worked on this (one of the last decent Sonic titles) for something greater by Sega. Anyway, if I cannot repeat the same prediction, I will go with Microsoft saying "you know what we haven't seen in a while, a Borderlands sale, either that or something something zombie sale ... :whistle2: "

JStryke > I do hope you're right, I wouldn't mind Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams on discount. Constantly mentioning DOA5U costumes never helped me, but you're more fortunate, so could you put in a good word for Deathsmiles 2X for everyone else? (and Enslaved DLC for me)

Maybe we'll get lucky and see something new on sale. Maybe Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams?

I figure if we mention it enough times, it HAS to go on sale. Worked for Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds at least.

Shorter yes. I had zero crashes, but the stuttering in the opening scenes and moments of blackout with voice only because of the slow down was down right annoying! I wish they would put as much attention to the visuals and experience as they do the storyline.

I am hoping they get their games together for a better experience in next gen. Their story engine needs some serious work. I feel like they have been pressured due to past delays such they rushed this out. I rather they had waited a little more. Hopefully it gets better with other Episodes. It was annoying and frustrating at times because the technical glitches IMHO, of distracted you from an otherwise good story line.

Telltale is starting to be like Bethesda... Great content, but on a technical level, no matter how many times they try they just can't get it together.

I'm in no rush to play TWAU ep2, so I'm debating if I should just use the code they sent and play it or wait for a fix and trade the code.  Any word on a real fix?

There is some gamer love up in here today....snap
Has anyone been playing the Project Spark beta. I tried to like it, but I just thought it was boring.

It doesn't run well on my laptop, so I haven't messed around with it too much yet. From what I've played though, I thought it was amazing. I spent a few hours just messing with one NPC's brain. I ended up with a bunch of goblins that would dance every time they saw me. I'm really interested in what other people will be making, but waiting for the Xbox One beta to start before doing that.

What is Project Spark? I signed up, and got a beta code, but waiting to use it on the One version, (the email said we could use it on the One). Heard One beta is due out this month some time.

Its like a much more detailed version of Minecraft. You can create worlds and games from it. Here's one of my favorite things theyve done. (so far) And yes, its SUPPOSED to launch sometime this month. Hopefully tomorrow so it'll give me something to do until the Titanfall beta launches.

It is the sequel to the indie game Kodu. You use it to make and play new games or remake your favorites. Somebody already made intro of Fable I think.

EDIT: Didn't notice the video when I posted this. That's the Fable thing I was talking about.

I forgot to mention that X1 version will have motion capture and voiceovers (unless they changed that).

So, it's kind of like Microsoft's version of Little Big Planet then?

It is the sequel to the indie game Kodu. You use it to make and play new games or remake your favorites. Somebody already made intro of Fable I think.

All good man.

Was gonna say this. But didnt want to offend the Sony fans,

I bet people will make amazing things with it.

Just thought of something that's probably been answered before, but I'm not quite sure how to search for it. When someone buys a physical season pass, say for example COD Ghosts, don't the codes just load a preset amount of credit onto your account? And since they're charging tax (depending on where you live) with online purchases now, isn't there legal grounds for false advertisement due to the tax not being covered? There's some weird system in place that allows any previously redeemed points before the change to be non taxed, but what happens after?

Also, they should really just release WARFACE. With the beta as open as it is, they can just do the new trend that's spreading like wildfire where they say "It's a beta, it'll be fixed soon" and just fix any problems along the way. Still waiting on my code, although it'll be funny if my brother's silver account gets it before my gold.

^Yes, when you purchase a physical card for a Season Pass, like the Halo Map Pack Pass, you get 2400 points ($30) added to your account. And yes I wish they would just release Warface too. Seems dumb as shit not to. Especially seeing as you need to be Gold to play.

I'm not quite sure I understand your answer. I asked that since the passes add a preset amount of credit (usually a cent above the price now, like in your example $30 instead of $29.99 for the Halo pass), couldn't Microsoft be held liable for not counting the tax they're charging online now as well? Noone wants to buy the season pass in store and then go home to realize that you didn't actually buy it in full thanks to the new online tax.

Also, when DOES warface release anyways?

Sorry man. I'm dead tired. I thought you were just asking if the SP gives you the money instead of the passes. My bad.

Microsoft isn't accountable cause they don't give a shit.

Warface is supposed to come out in the Spring.

I'm in no rush to play TWAU ep2, so I'm debating if I should just use the code they sent and play it or wait for a fix and trade the code. Any word on a real fix?
I received this email the other day, I'm going to hang onto my code and trade it as well, since I'm waiting for the entire season before I start.

Season Pass owners of The Wolf Among Us on Xbox 360 are experiencing an unexpected issue when attempting to redeem The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: Smoke & Mirrors, where they are asked to pay for the episode individually. We are working with Microsoft and will be releasing a title update to resolve the issue for this and subsequent episodes covered by the Season Pass. We anticipate the update will be available within several days.

In about 15 hours we get the new sales, though we already supposedly know it's the Fable sale that has been anticipated. There might be other things as well in the mix, but I doubt it. There will be a couple new things on the X360 though, Live Arcades mostly: the full version of World Of Tanks (free + achievements, if not else), Far Cry Classic (literally the only game missing from the Far Cry saga for me at this point, that FC sale last time made me do some catching-up), and LocoCycle (hated or what but it's still Twisted Pixel, can't be that bad). Oh, and we also get, at the end of the week, the new Games With Gold, Toy Soldiers: Cold War, again free for Gold Members. This is what you should expect this week. On the retail side, the only relevant release Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which could be tempting to many with the recent sale on XIII-2.

Personally I'm picking up the two free games, while I wait for a sale on LocoCycle and Far Cry - my backlog is big enough for avoiding full-priced games right now, even though both should be 10$ only. Hardly jumping on anything Fable, I yet have to finish Fable 2 and even have to start the 3rd one - not a huge fan, and saw my ex play through like all of the two games, so frankly not even the storyline can surprise me at this point. It's not bad if, for a week, my backlog won't grow like crazy, I'm addicted to the Olympics anyway and barely touched my console in the past 2 days.

No, you are required by law to pay the tax regardless if Microsoft collects it or not. If you were to buy the season pass at the local retailer and neither the retailer nor Microsoft charged you tax then you would still be required to pay it to your state. Most folks would not and do not pay it when the retailer doesn't collect, which is why the states force the retailers to collect it. It doesn't matter who ultimately collects the tax as you are required to pay it regardless.

With FC Classic only being $10, I'm getting it release day. Originally I was expecting it to be $20. I've been waiting to play it for a long time.

Far Cry Classic is tempting, but my hard drive (which has finally finished downloading games) is hurting pretty badly so I might wait for PS3 to have it. If Fable games really are the theme this week, then I am safe.

I finally beat that Samurai Horseman boss on Ninja Gaiden. Those henchmen stopped respawning so I had a chance to defeat him. Pretty cool how in the next level, the enemies can actually grab you from behind and slash your throat.

Am I the only one concerned about the lack of information on far cry classic? Few screenshots, no videos, barely any press...all very bad signs.

You've got a point, I suppose it's barely an update at all. I hear it's got slightly updated graphics and reworked cutscenes, but I don't expect the marvelous work that was put into Crysis 1 being ported to X360 (changing the engine and all). We'll see the reviews, and all hail trials for all arcade games. Which does make me wonder a bit, because FC1 was on one DVD, pretty sure it needed 4-5 GBs back then, how did they fit that in 2GB if the graphics improved? Better compression? They say there's new content, but did they cut out something existent? Or will it pull off the "prank" that Serious Sam 3 did, where Croteam shortly before release announced that there'll be the base game for 1200MSP, and the DLC for a further 1200MSP which contains the multiplayer modes (included in the base game on PC). We'll see.

This and the games been delayed for almost a year since it was supposed to be a summer of arcade or around there title last year. Also after looking this up again FC was only supposed to be 560 MSP so...
