This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

What is the difference between "Full Game - Capcom Arcade Cabinet" for $1.74 and "Capcom Arcade Cabinet - All-in-One Pack" for $24.99?

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/CAPCOM-ARCADE-CABINET/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258411259?cid=majornelson
More games. In fact, the All-in-One pack has ALL the games, hence the name. The Capcom Arcade Cabinet just gives you Black Tiger, Avengers (an overhead view beat 'em up unrelated to the Marvel characters), and one other game, 1943 I think. For two dollars, it's definitely worth the price of admission, although Avengers is not a game you'll spend every waking hour playing. (or any, ahem)

Some really good deals this week. It's criminal that Dust and Bastion are only $3 each. Fantastic games.

I am a glutton for punishment so I may pick up Persona 4. Would really rather get it on disc since I have absolutely no space on my HD, but I doubt I can find it at such a "reasonable" price. It has an achievement for turning the game on :)

So hey, what's up with Radiant Silvergun? Is it a one day thing? I keep trying to buy it but Xbox Live won't let me. I loved this a lot on the Saturn and if I can't get it on Xbox 360 I'm gonna be awfully testy...

Not much for me, just picking up Dust - I was regretting not grabbing it in the November sale.

Already have most of the other ones I want in some form or another. I want to want those < $2 games, but I just can't pull the trigger.

I thought the HD Collection was disappointing. There was censoring that wasnt present in the original releases and the soundtracks had been replaced.

I don't really like Raging Blast.

While I know Ultimate Tenkaichi was the same sort of style it's been almost five years since i played a Dragon Ball game, but if this is a genuinely bad game then I'll pass.

I'm not in the mood to go play raging Blasy again, espeically since those games are significantly more expensive than this sale
Try out the demo for Battle of Z. I haven't played Raging Blast or UT, so I cannot say if it is similar. It does have online co-op in the demo as well.

I'm going to bite and get Mass Effect as some point this week.  I feel like I should give it a real chance since it seems to be so highly praised, though I often hear that the 2nd game is the best of that series.

I want to pick up Dishonored too.  I'm not much for stealth in gaming these days so that gives me a little bit of pause.  But I'm not after achievements so much either. So maybe a more direct, non-stealth playthrough will be fun.  Anyone have opinions on Dishonored played with "high chaos"?

Well I am happy the games I am mostly interested are on sale all week.  It will give me a chance to scope out the daily sales before pulling the trigger.

My thoughts on some of the games:

Bastion: I always felt the game was over-rated, especially being an indie game. The gameplay's decent, and the game overall is nothing to write home about but the narration somewhat deems this game.

Halo Reach: My favourite Halo and a true swan song for Bungie. I felt this is easily the best Halo in term's of story, as you play with a squad rather than being a lone wolf, meaning you have atleast one other Spartan with you for most of the missions. The MP is great, and it's balanced fairly well. Even if you start this late, you won't feel like you are being killed because of superior weapons (unlike most shooters, including Halo 4). Like I mentioned, this is easily the best Halo for me, and I highly recommend you pick it up even if you are remotely interested in the game (there's a demo present to help you decide).

Asura's Wrath: It's a fun game, even if you don't like anime (like me). The gameplay is similar to a generic hack & slash, but with a lot of QTEs (think God of War). In fact, most of the boss fight's devolve into simple QTEs. It's story is a little nonsensical (you'll get it if you pay attention), it has a great graphical design, making it look like it is an anime with the cell-shading. My only problem with it is, you have to BUY the real ending to the game. (Thanks Capcom).

Alan Wake AN: I did not like this game at all. It took away from the atmosphere quite a bit by giving Alan a bigger arsenal and more lights through the world. Again, it's nothing special but I only played through it because of the story. Still, for $3, it's fun.

Picked up mass effect and dantes inferno. $3.75 is perfect for each.

Alan Wake American Nightmare is worthless though. Save your money. Wait for an Alan Wake 2 since AN is technically not canon or necessary.

Agreed. Great campaign, good soundtrack, and decent multiplayer. Probably my favorite campaign of the 6 Halo FPS titles. I have put a ton of time into MP, and the only real frustrations are bloom and armor lock. Still play it a fair amount though. Should be an easy buy at the price.

Really considering Armored Core on a blind buy. The screens look awesome and I have no mech style games in my collection at all. Is the $7.50 a good deal on this one or anyone have any opinions? Appreciated!

DBZ games have been pretty bad since they came to "last gen" consoles. Tenkaichi 2 was the last good game. I bought Raging Blast 2 years ago and had a good time with it. Battle of Z is pretty bad aswell. If the DBZ games can become as good as the Naruto games are, then I would happily buy every single one day 1.

Well from the One Day sale for 2/17 I purchased Dante's Inferno.

From the weeklong sale looking at maybe Dirt 3.  Will see what the rest of the week brings.

The Gold Exclusive sales according to xbldb imo suck.  Family Guy for $15? Nascar The Line for $15?  Way overpriced.

For those waiting for other capcom arcade deals you need to buy the base first which is the one on sale now

Same here. Bloom has been mostly taken care off through the couple patches and knowing how/when to pace your shots with each gun. I still hate AL.

What? Is there a Persona game on sale?

If you haven't played mech games before, this is a fairly bad one to start with. It is easily one of the most difficult in recent memory. The campaign can be played in co-op thankfully but the game does have a learning curve - even when you finish levels, it's easy to get stuck in a rut because repairs and ammo cost money and you can end up owing money and not being able to buy new parts. This is the series that put From Software on the map, creators of Demons Souls and Dark Souls after all.

I actually enjoyed Burst Limit, sure the character roster was small but I really enjoyed the actual combat system, how it felt and the animation and character models are still better than the Dragon Ball games that came after.

I'm going to wait till Battle of Z is cheap. I thought the demo showed some very interesting new mechanics but it didn't seem polished enough to pay premium

Thx for the Armored Core heads up Reflection. Still looks pretty so I'll consider snagging it if I still have $ after round 1 sales.

From the One Day Sale I am grabbing Reach....it's the last one I haven't payed. Bastion was fun and the narration rocks, It's not a stellar platformer, but it was a good time.
From the week long sale I'm grabbing Batman, and Alan Wake (The XBox gods were listening). I might grab Dirt 3, I thought the others were awesome and it has local multiplayer..... Motocross was surprisingly fun and better than the screen shots let on.
My question is about Dishonored. Is this worth picking up and what would you compare it to game play wise?

I know lots of people keep asking about Runner2. That game is freaking awesome! There are multiple difficulties and branching paths on the levels and some have secrets. I had a blast playing it on PSN and will probably double dip just because I got it free on PS+ and they deserve my money. I was never a big fan of the endless runner types of games but this one changed my mind. Play the trial and you'll know if it's for you.

I'm definitely in for Dante's Inferno. It's one of the few GonD games I've been waiting for a sale on. Between that and Eternal Sonata Microsoft has discounted my most wanted titles. Good things come to those who wait! :D

Sure I got burned on buying a few titles at higher sale prices but that's how these things go. With these mega sales of 75%+ off I'm getting more selective and avoiding average games.

I'm debating getting Dirt 3 and Portal 2. I already have Portal 2 on PS3 and bought Dirt 2 previously so I'm trying to pass.

Thx for the Armored Core heads up Reflection. Still looks pretty so I'll consider snagging it if I still have $ after round 1 sales.
Isn't it today only? Well, you should grab it if you're interested since it's the cheapest it's been. It only came out in September and it's already $7.

I'm in the same boat with Guardians...so far I'd say the dollar was worth it and I've only reached the opening video.
Guardians is fun, when it works, but it's impossible to find matches. And once you do join, you better hope it doesn't lag like crazy or kick you out of the server.

Sales like these remind me that I need to stop buying impulsively. I finally caved on Dante's a month or two back and bought the physical figuring the digital would never go on sale again. I just did the same with a few other titles recently, so those will probably go on sale too :p . I just can't seem to resist when I see the word "SALE". :)

So are they are going to have new sales every day for seven days, or are these all the sales they are having for seven straight days?

I will not be home to use my Xbox Live account balance until tomorrow morning.  Does the 1-Day Sale end tonight or tomorrow?  I would prefer to use my balance instead of a credit card or Paypal tonight, but I do not want to miss the deal.  Thanks in advance for any information.

I'm not positive, but I know the sale hasn't shown up on my Dashboard yet and I would guess they will advertise this first day for at least a while tomorrow, I would guess this is the first day of sales that goes through tomo night.

Deals usually show up the night before they are official. Then they end the morning after they are official. So you should be fine if you buy it tomorrow.

Alright green team! Already have Radiant Silvergun which I wholeheartedly recommend. Contemplating Persona 4 Arena but would like to have the retail version. Definitely grabbing Daggerdale for $2, cant wait to see what they have in store for later!

Use the boost to...float higher? =DDD

Someone needs to post that Mako gif stat.
I Always wish you could heard Shepard and whoever his other two in the Mako are just saying "Oh goddammit! Another steep ass hill?! Jesus Christ!" and followed by grumbling and profanity at how often it happens.

Hahahaha! "and whatever you do Shepard, don't get impatient like the last time and- oh for fuck's sake, you hit the boost AGAIN?! Now we have to start from the bottom! Screw this, it'd be faster if I got out."
