This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

 • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
 • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
 • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
 • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
 • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
 • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

D&D Daggerdale isn't worth the HDD space, even if it were free.

Runner 2 is fantastic, ESPECIALLY if you don't like those types of games.

Dante's Inferno is better than Cats!

Dust & Bastion = if you don't already own them by now, you don't deserve nice things.

Capcom Arcade Cabinet: Don't be fooled by "Avengers", it's not Captain America & The Avengers. Call me when the full package is $2.49.

It's nice to see actual games on sale again.

Never played that either so you need to elaborate :p
DMC has its own crazy style. Main character's name is Dante. In the sense DMC is your typical Hack'N'Slash genre with some cool stylish fighting and designs. If you're into emo stuff and punk rock (I'm not) DMC might hit the spot. Non-the-less I really enjoyed the game especially action and combo system - fuck'n love it! Air combos, infinite air combos Dante can just hang up endlessly in the air(if you're skillful enough) and pulverize foes. I have to praise 'Ninja Theory' for their ideas and innovations that they brought into DevilMayCry series. I actually downloaded DMC soundtrack and put up few cool tunes as ringtones on my phone.

I recommend DMC, who doesn't love Action!? DMC is packed with action, lol that game can deliver good workout for your fingers.

Dante's Inferno should've had a sequel. That's how good this game is. If you're wondering if you should bite for less than $4 than you've been sleeping on a great game. I Will buy it again just to support the developers. Don't be such a cheap ass. ....

Dante's Inferno was actually gonna have a sequel. Something fell through or they had to stop production or somethin.

What fell through was the fact that not many people bought the game like they expected. The sequel was already on the works. But of course EA's greedy as was behind it all and stopped production.

Driver San Francisco - this is probably the best driving game since Burnout Paradise, even Yahtzee Croshaw loves this thing and he hates everything
I wouldn't even know or be interested in this game if not for Yahtzee. When he recommends something I pay attention.

I'd make a couple counter-recommendations, since I already recommended some stuff.

First of all, Alan Wake's American Nightmare: it's nowhere near as good as Alan Wake. While the gameplay was somewhat refined in a couple things, the storyline is nearly non-existent and has you running back and forth looking for items, mostly. Also, the game is extremely short (4 hours or so), and it even has the courage to literally have you retrace the game with a slight difference in each stage basically, so you get like 2 hours of "original" gameplay, 2 hours that are nowhere near as good as any chapter (base game or DLC) from the first game. The horde mode is fine for 30 minutes or so, but Alan Wake's strenght was never in the action. Plus there's no multiplayer, so it's bound to get old fast. This is a solid price, so if you absolutely adored Alan Wake, there's a chance you'll find enjoyment here. Just keep in mind it's a pretty damn cheap arcade cash-in that, all around, will probably last you an afternoon.

Also, Halo: Reach. A lot of newer/younger fans will tell you this is the best Halo yet, but long-time fans tend to think differently about it, and generally it didn't age well. ODST had the greatest Halo campaign in a long time (if not ever), thanks to an open-world gameplay with a lot of freedom on how to play the game. Halo: Reach, when it comes to the campaign, is a giant step backwards: linear, boring, plus the storyline is only interesting if you care A LOT about the Halo universe, because if you're not VERY familiar with it, you won't care less about this prequel that has nothing to do with Master Chief's saga. The horde mode is decent, though I was not a fan of it in any Halo game, and the multiplayer is another step in the wrong direction if you ask me. Halo 3 was near-perfect, but the class and perk-systems don't work that well with Halo, it's something for COD frankly (and Halo 4 further went the COD-direction, though at least it was better than Reach). It's like Bungie failed to realize why people enjoyed the multiplayer for Halo 1-3 and the "revolutionary" (for Halo at least) campaign in ODST, and made a mixture that hardly makes sense for Reach. Not a bad game per se, just not quite impressive as Halo 1-3 when those came out thanks to various bad decisions. Oh, and if you're overly used to modern FPS games (COD, Battlefield, even Halo 4), you might have a bad time using Halo Reach because, unlike Halo 4, this one's got no "COD-style" controls, so I have a terrible time going back to playing it since it's so hard to get used to that control scheme again. Lastly, I picked the game up on eBay as a download code for 6.50$ 2 or 3 years ago, so it can be had cheaper.

As for what I recommend... for today's sales, the GonD sales are decent but no mindblowing prices (though Dante's Inferno at 3 or so dollars is a safe enough bet if you like hack-n-slash games like God Of War, Conan, Devil May Cry, etc.). Runner2 looks like a steal for this price, I'm definitely picking it up. Bastion is one of those games I never really understood the hype for, the gameplay is pretty average, it's all in the unique artstyle. For this price it can be worth it though, it's a unique enough experience. The other weekly sales can wait until we see what else will be up for dailies, but those driving games for 5$ each are a freaking steal: Ridge Racer is underrated, it's got a solid gameplay, great music and a pretty good track editor (!), the downside is a broken online but you'll still get plenty of enjoyment out of it; Driver: San Francisco is one I haven't played, but it's a terrific price, reviews really praise this one so go for it in my opinion, I'm sure I will; Dirt 3 is at a lovely price, I paid the same for Dirt 2 last year and did not regret it, tight gameplay with lovely graphics, Codemasters at its best, can't miss the sequel at the same price surely. Good prices on Mass Effect and Batman Arkham City as well, can't go wrong with these if you somehow don't own them already. Dust: An Elysian Tail is a joyful ride of epic 2D hack-n-slash/RPG, it's got furries and a satisfying combat system, along with a lovely artstyle and plenty of content. It's one of those games that keep flying under the radar, but buy it, try it, and see why so many CAGs recommend it.

Better than slowly scanning a planet. :p
Anything is more fun than being on a Shepard family road trip in the Mako mini van for long bouts of time before finding a rest stop filled with robots or aliens. I Include launching probes in that equation as well. The only way that space road trip could have been fun is if Mordin was always in there singing songs.
Any clue as to what the normal weekly deals will be?
we already know them, go on xbldb and set filters to gold only ;)

Btw no dlc sale on Fable 3... I guess I won't start the game this week.
Nothing for me today, I'm hoping for some dlc, poker night 2 for cheap ( no it's not cheap enough for me now) and maybe left4dead 2 if they do it

Here's the detailed list: http://majornelson.com/2014/02/17/xbox-360-ultimate-games-sale/

The second list is the weekly sales.
Are you sure? On that page it says: "As part of the Ultimate Games Sale, the following special offers will be available at the discount listed below until 25 February 2014"

I took im_dany's advice and checked on on xbld and it looks like the nromal sale might be for ridge racer(?).

Anyway, thanks to both of you.

Oh god

If there was one thing the sequels improved on, it was getting rid of the goddamn Mako completely. Mass Effect was pretty much perfect besides that.
They could have easily kept the Mako exploration and improved it. Instead I have to compulsively fire 30 proves into each planet to get every last spec of mineral deposits. Also the random missions were fun, never knowing what you'd run in to.

Use the boost to...float higher? =DDD

Someone needs to post that Mako gif stat.

The Mako was terrible, good riddance.

I wouldn't call it greedy. If the game didn't sell then why make a sequel? It's a business, not a charity. It's nothing personal.

I must be the only person to actually dig the mako sections from the original mass effect. I thought it was awesome exploring random planets, looking for items and upgrades. To me mass effect 2 felt a little too linear by removing these exploration sections from the game.

The Mako sections of ME1 were far and away my favorite part of the game. It was Starflight with HD graphics and combat.

I liked the Mako sections as well, but we do seem to be the minority.

At least the Mako sections provided some scope and atmosphere to the galaxy you're exploring. That said, driving that thing was not fun, plus I always thought I was missing something unless I scoured every planet.

The Mako was terrible, good riddance.
Mass Effect has been sitting in my backlog since one of the previous Ultimate Game Sales had it up for 5 bucks. That gif makes me want to play it sooner, though. Please tell me this isn't patched :p

Long time Halo player here. As in I'm in my mid 30s and used to system link original Xbox consoles together to play multiplayer with as many screens and players as possible. Nothing can quite recapture the social magic that getting a bunch of geeks into the same room creates, but Reach was by far my favorite Halo game since those days. ODST was a one and done affair for me.

I liked the Mako as well. Some of the hills were obnoxious but I'd take that over the planet scanning in later ME games.

Anyone want to recommend a racer game on sale? Thinking about picking one up.

Can anyone make any recommendations on NASCAR or Ridge Racer? I like games like Forza and Dirt and Pure, but didn't really care for Blur beyond it's novelty. Split/Second also didn't interest me. Thanks.

Also, did anyone else notice that spylon's site didn't pick up the rock band blitz drop?  Everything else is there though.  I only mention it because it seems weird.

In for P4A for $10. Already have all the super low priced arcade games (Runner 2, Bastion, Motocross, etc).  Debating on Batman AC as I have AA and haven't even started it yet, and Reach since I bought it at launch, have it on my card, but no longer own it. Just not that into FPSes.

If you have never played Mass Effect, and do not yet own it, you need to buy this game. The Mass Effect trilogy is my favorite series of games ever. I absolutely love the story of these games, and the characters are amazing. The gameplay in ME1 is not the best, but the story is well worth the time and effort to put into the game. The combat can be a bit tricky and slightly buggy, but everyone should play this game thru.

I have a 320gb HD.  What do you guys do for space?  Some decent deals I guess I may have to delete.  But i like my game library to show my titles.

Storing finished Games on my 120 GB HDD on my second Xbox and using 32 GB usb sticks for new games I can't have on my 320 GB Xbox anymore the HDD is always full lol

I sometimes delete old games to make room for new ones in the hopes that I can redownload them in the future (and that they don't take them off the market).  But I'm wondering if anyone uses flash drives to keep games?  I've thought about doing that.

I have a 250 and a 120gb both full, so now I'm using a 32gb USB stick.

250 is for XBLA games and saves

120 is for GoD

32gb is used to install whatever game I'm currently play, plus any more XBLA games I buy I guess.

I use my original 120gb for XBLA games, avatar stuff, backgrounds, etc and have about 25gb left. I use my 250gb for GoD and XBLA games over 1gb and have about 13gb left. I have a new 250gb which I will be using soon. I do use a 32gb USB to transfer between HDs.

I really wish Microsoft would just allow the use of portable hard drives. I have a couple 1TB ones lying around that I'd prefer to use.

Currently, I'm using a 250GB HDD and 32GB flash. No rhyme or reason as to what is on each storage device.

Anyone know the deal with Cars and Brave? They show up with a discount on XBLDB, but not sure if this is a sale or a price drop.
