This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I don't really understand why Konami keeps releasing all these new Metal Gear games (including MGS V) for the 360 if they are never going to port MGS IV over.  I own and have played MGS 1-3 for PS1/PS2, but I find it pointless to play any further Metal Gear games unless I get a PS3 and am able to play through the whole series.  Also, is anyone else confused about MGS V in general?  Apparently, it's being released as two separate games?  WTF?

I also wanted to chime in about Alan Wake's American Nightmare.  If you enjoyed the original, it's well worth much more than the $3 it's being sold for right now.  Yes, it's short, and the same areas get recycled multiple times, and the atmosphere isn't the same as in the original, but these things all make sense within the context of the game.  You can call it lazy if you want, but either way, it's an extremely enjoyable and interesting continuation of Alan Wake's story (albeit a short one).  Also, considering that it looks like there may never be an Alan Wake 2, this may be your only chance to find out what happened to Alan and the other characters after the events of the first game and its DLC.

Offtopic: what's the best way to search on xbldb?   Every time I try and use the search bar on the right (powered by Google) I get dozens of irrelevant hits when all I want is the price history of the game in question.  Is there a better method?

Grab a few dozen bags of popcorn for each day and take about 10 days off to watch the "game" on Youtube. I guarantee you will get the exact same experience as "playing" it.

MGS3 was one of the best experiences I had on the PS2, probably one of my favorite experiences I've had gaming.

MGS3 is the best Metal Gear game but only the Subsistence version not the original.

Nothing good today that I don't already have. I may have been overzealous when I bought $40 worth of Xbox cash but whatevs.

For a dollar, I grabbed Bejeweled 3  too. Still haven't been able to pull the trigger on Batman AC though.....I'm worried it will just sit there in my backlog for eternity. How much better is it the Batman AA, or is it just more of that?

Just a quick note on Metal Gear Peace Walker - it's included in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in case you have it in your backlog like I do and almost double dipped.

Arkham City is one, if not the best game of the last gen. Either way you look at it, its just as good as Arkham Asylum. Personally believe its much better, but as cheap as it is, go for it. Amazing story.

Asylum is a lot better, but that's mainly because the story is so tight in it. City does have extra costume though, so that's awesome. Can't agree with others that it's one of the best last gen, but that's likely because I have higher expectations for batman games.

Bejeweled 3 for me, since is hmmm just a £0.69. The price for Skyrim is good, but you should looking for Legendary edition instead with all of the expansions.

You can buy the Games on Demand version of Skyrim and then find/borrow/buy used at GameStop and subsequently return the Legendary Edition install disc for the DLC.

I know this because I did it (after buying a Skyrim download card on eBay). ~$10 is the best price it'll ever be, I'm guessing, and a game that big with load times that long really demands to be GoD, not disc.

GOTY editions for both Arkham games run about 15-17 each. Asylum is preferred on PS3 since you can access Joker Challenge maps on that. I agree Asylum is better due to tighter controls, better boss fights, and the claustrophobic atmosphere. Arkham City feels a little overwhelming because of the extra ground you have to cover but I like the story better. Worth 5 bucks if you are not interested in the DLC however.

Indeed. Arkham City GOTY was available here in Italy for 10 Euros short ago, and since it's a game rather heavy on the DLC, that is probably the edition to get. Then again, the GOTY has the DLCs on disk to install, therefore you can borrow or rent the second disc from anyone, and with the base game for 5$ you still get off cheaper than buying the GOTY (which also has a hell of an uglier cover art).

For those curious about tomorrow's sale: the sales page on the dashboard has the preview for tomorrow up already, and it's the new Lara Croft, the one from the latest Tomb Raider. It's therefore safe to say that tomorrow, Tomb Raider (2013) will be on sale again, likely in the 10-15$ area as it was around Christmas already and when Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light was the GwG. As other days though, don't be disappointed if this one doesn't interest you or you own it already, the previous days had an Assassin's Creed picture and a FIFA 14 image, and those were only one game out of everything on sale, so literally about any other game could be on sale tomorrow.

Too Human.

I win.
What do you know, they might put up the gamerpics on sale. I mean they're literally having a 0.5% sale on Lips songs right now (2.00$ saled to 1.99$). I can imagine the people waiting on a Lips sale thinking "Man, those songs at 2$ each are so expensive - now this is a price I won't miss!".

Which previous Batman game gave you such high expectations?

I think that's just MS trying to normalize the pricing on LIVE, not a sale.

Man Lips was the shit. Best karaoke game ever, held back by a shitty DLC selection. Oh well, at least Inis made the Karaoke app.

Agreed. I put an insane amount of time into belting out tunes in Lips. I miss that game. Finally sold of the mics and all the games a bit ago.

Friends, any reason to buy left for dead 1 when I have 2 and all the dlc for it? Anything different or do the dlc maps in 2 replicate everything from 1? Thank you.

OP says Rock Band Blitz is a one day sale when it is really on sale through the week. Too lazy to fix it myself.

Shit, anybody know if Soul Calibur 2 is still at the sale price? Forgot to pick it up last night...
Just checked the website. It's $4.99. Go go go!

I got it last night myself after missing it on sale for $10 over the holidays (was kicking myself for it). Seems like I lucked out after all.

I feel bad for anyone who paid full price, Namco should have learned from Capcom's stupidity with Jojo pricing.
