This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I hope Bejeweled 3 is better than 2
It is. It definitely is.

I honestly don't know if I own it or not either. I know I own some of the Bejeweled games but not sure which.
There's 3 Bejeweled games as far as I know. Bejeweled Blitz, Bejeweled 2, and Bejeweled 3.

I don't really understand why Konami keeps releasing all these new Metal Gear games (including MGS V) for the 360 if they are never going to port MGS IV over. I own and have played MGS 1-3 for PS1/PS2, but I find it pointless to play any further Metal Gear games unless I get a PS3 and am able to play through the whole series. Also, is anyone else confused about MGS V in general? Apparently, it's being released as two separate games? WTF?
Not going to happen. They WOULD have (and ported the Legacy collection) but 360 discs only support 8 GBs each, while PS3 discs support 50 GBs each. The game would have to ship on far too many 360 discs to fit (because of all the cutscenes, yes, the game has a million of them). That's why. It's also why MGSV is on both platforms (Xbone has far bigger disc sizes than 360). Ground Zeroes is only on 360 because it's a much smaller game.

I checked online as well and Soul Calibur still
Showed $4.99. Really didnt want to use my card (how long has that been going on where you can't use MS money online?) but for $5 I'll live.

For everyone who bought Guardians, is the online active again or the servers working properly? I remember deleting it a few months ago because it was taking ages to find games. I'm tempted to redownload the game and play it now.

It's been going on forever. It's a pain in the ass. Honestly, I just have an expired debit card attached to the account so I can buy "free" stuff off the website (Games for Gold and such), because not being able to buy "free" shit without a card attached is ridiculous.

I shoulda done that too. I actually had an expired debit card on the account already (Target fiasco) but I didn't wanna risk the purchase just being cancelled.

I bought the season pass for The Wolf Among Us and, like everyone else that did, received a code for Episode 2.

Is it safe to give that code away, without risking my access to that episode when I eventually decide to download it as a season pass owner?

Yes the code was only because there were issues with the season pass. Once those were fixed (and I think they are now) you should be able to download (and re-download) as you please.

Come on guys. No dlc for any game will go on sale during this extravaganza.

BTW has anyone tried to do any online matches in Soul Caliber yet? How is the online community?

So I've been playing Runner2, such a fantastic game but if you're an achievement completionist, its a pain with all the Perfect+ you have to do on each difficulty (300 levels total). However, for $1.89 and being a rhythm platformer, its certainly a refreshing break from all the FPS/fighting/racing games I play.

Any of the Asura's Wrath DLC on sale as well?

Also Indignate wtf is your sig.?
No, it's not, missed the boat unfortunately. Indignate's sig is OBVIOUSLY a gif they made of themselves. I heard she's single too. Go for it dude!

Yeah, just found about the free code last night. The Season Pass IS fixed though by the way (though nobody fucking reported on it), I just downloaded Ep 2 for free last night from the in-game menu without redeeming the code. It's safe to give it away.

Yeah, I don't know why anyone would think otherwise. DLC sales have been a low priority lately. As for the online, I can probably give you an answer once I go home and play it. :)

Alright, thanks guys. Ill find out myself later on tonight. I played alittle of weapon master's mode last night and that was it. For those on the fence, for $5 you can't go wrong whether your great at fighting games, or your mediocre like me.

So what you are saying is they would have to trim the game down to the parts I liked and leave out the garbage I skipped? Sounds good to me!

It was a fun stealth action game that was ruined by Kojima's continued belief that he writes compelling stories and cutscenes. Too many fanboys gush on him thinking weird, constant plot twists are good writing. Just make a freaking game, you are good at that part! Lack of good editing always falls by the wayside when directors/writers get too into themselves and have enough clout to override good outside input. It happened to The Matrix too - those last two movies desperately needed someone to step in and ground it more. Shonda Rhimes as well, her writing has gone from really interesting to "let's see how many twists I can pack in an episode to shock people" - Scandal used to be a fun show to watch, but it got so absurd me and my wife don't even watch it anymore.

But that implies that Kojima would be able to make a port of his game that has the editing you speak of. That's why it's impossible. I agree that it's kind of overrated. I liked it, but there have been much better entries in the series. Funnily enough, MGS4 suffers from the same kind of overrating that *ahem* a certain game mentioned in this thread suffers from. Mostly that their focus on a good "cinematic experience" makes people forget about their subpar gameplay.

DLC is on sale right meow for Lips. Guitar Hero yesterday.

Got this interesting email today. No code yet.

"We’re writing because we’ve selected you – yes, you – to preview Xbox One updates. By now, you should have received a Live Message from Xbox (available on your console and Xbox.com) with a 5x5 code. By redeeming this code, you will be able to install the official update Registration App. By following the steps in this app, you should be accepted in the coming days, and you will be included in the update preview when it begins in the days following.
Why you, you ask? Well, we made sure you were included in this preview program not just because you’re an Ambassador, but because you’re an Ambassador who took the time to help over these past few busy months. We know that you took time out of your schedule to assist your community. And to us, that shows serious care for the betterment Xbox and Xbox Live. Who better to help us shape the future?"

EDIT: After looking into it, nobody got their code yet and people that are not ambassadors are also getting the email.

All 3 times I've matched up took around one minute each time. I like how it tells you average wait time and its pretty accurate from my 3 whole games of experience.

That being said, MOBAs are tougher than I thought. Glad I got in on this for a dollar, but I have some practicing to do before I become a relevant player.

I bought it full price, and I don't really regret it. It was fun for the first couple months but then the servers started to take a crap and people left so I deleted it from the hard-drive. Hopefully this sale has brought more people into the game. And yes, I agree that MOBAs are pretty hard to play.

What game are you talking about? (I like pointless arguing)
I was going to ask the same thing. Not to start an argument (I hope), but out of curiosity.

Probably Bioshock Infinite.

I personally enjoyed the hell out of both games despite the gameplay not being perfect.

Edit: on second thought it's probably Alan wake, which to be honest I have to agree that game really never clicked for me gameplay wise.

I bought it full price, and I don't really regret it. It was fun for the first couple months but then the servers started to take a crap and people left so I deleted it from the hard-drive. There's two. I'll go with the less controversial one first (though more people will defend it, most likely). No, it's not Alan Wake. For the most part, people acknowledge that some of the gameplay is lacking, it gets closer to the scores it should and I don't think I've ever seen it overhyped like the game I'm thinking of.

Probably Bioshock Infinite.

We have a winner. Easily one of the most overrated games of 2013. Good, but with several glaring flaws (just like MGS4) forgiven for its story/cinematics. Notice I say I liked it. But it is not the Game of the Year, 10/10 a lot make it out to be. And yes, I liked Bioshock 1 better.

Went into my backlog to see if I can delete anything. Played some Dead Light, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Block to find one game that needed to go right away.

Dead Rising 2.

Yeah, it looks great but the weapons system and the mall environment was boring and reminded me of the first game. The arrow is telling me where to go yet nothing happens when I get to the destination. The only fun part of the game I had was riding on a motorcycle with two chainsaws mowing down zombies.   Dead Island is much better IMO.

Deadlight is more of a "going through the motions" game but at least I'm curious to see where it's going.

And how can you go wrong in Dead Block,  a game where you can kill zombies by playing a guitar?

Fair enough. I was pretty impressed with it, but wouldn't put it at GOTY (GTA V and The Last of Us duke that out in my mind). I found the gameplay to be much better than Bioshock 1 and 2, but I generally didn't love those games like most people (always felt underpowered). It still was far from perfect. I suppose it's one of those games where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

The Vigors/two gun system killed a lot of the gameplay for me, honestly. The regenerating shield, the constant items from Elizabeth (using the tear powers is fine, but the throwing you random items without tears was a little much), and that "ghost fight", among many other things, did not help it in my eyes. But hey, at least you're not calling Ken Levine a creative genius because he made a story and thought it was good because he didn't understand it. His words, by the way.

Just had to mention The Last of Us, huh? Oh boy. I think this is the part where I'll shut up.

I like how every NPC is exactly the same.

I welcomed the extra firepower (well overall lowering in difficulty, I guess) since, like I said, I always felt underpowered in the first two (enemies were bullet sponges; one or two decent encounters would leave me without health/eve/ammo and I'd spend the next 20 minutes digging through trash cans and whatnot trying to re-prepare). But most of all I just found Columbia to be a really fun environment to inhabit/explore and the story was very good (a bit too convoluted for its own good, though).

Maybe it's best to not elaborate on The Last of Us since I just got in a debate over it the other day in the PSN thread. I enjoyed everything about the gameplay in it (well, I'll admit the AI in stealth scenarios was mediocre at times), but I understand that nothing is loved by everyone.

I didn't notice. I doubt I would have cared if I did.

Yeah I was there for the LoU debate. Didn't agree with nearly any of their views, but there's really no reason to post once certain members become involved. They only tolerate one PoV.

Just as much as I enjoyed Happy Whores Wars and Ass End Handjob of Kul Ascend: Hand of Kul.

You guys. I Am classy.
Haha, alright, you got some laughs from me. Never change, bardock.

Infinite was definitely mediocre, but I still dont see any problems with Last of Us gameplay.
Eh, was a 6/7 for me, I think TLoU was the most overrated game last year hands-down. There's plenty wrong with it, stealth sections and AI to start. It doesn't help that the E3 demo had more advanced AI than the actual game, which led people (myself included) to be disappointed.

I agree with some of your points against Bioshock 1 & 2, but Infinite did not make anything better in my opinion. But see, you found Columbia to be a fun environment and you enjoyed the story. That was my original point. Subpar gameplay, that's overlooked because of those factors. Same thing with the Last of Us, honestly.

It's funny you immediately mentioned some of my main criticisms against TLoU (I didn't read your post before writing that, I swear). We probably saw most of the same flaws, it's just that you could overlook them because again, story/environments. And I couldn't. That's where we differ.

I'll admit that I'm a sucker for game worlds/stories done right, probably because it happens so rarely. But yeah, I can see the other side of it, too.

Sorry to derail the thread too much. I haven't bought a single game from the sale yet. Not because it's not a pretty good sale, but because I already own (but not necessarily played) pretty much everything of interest to me.

So I'm not alone in thinking The Last of Us is nowhere near as great as people make it out to be, I guess the internet has some sense left in it after all :p
The gameplay is nothing special but it has such a likable cast of realistic characters. That's something that's disappointingly rare in most games - real people.

Not at all, Professor Ninja Squirrel Layton. Figures you and I would see eye to eye on this.

It's fine. Today is honestly kind of a slow day compared to the first two days, in my opinion. The only interesting thing to me I don't already have is Bejeweled. I'd get Darksiders and L4D if I didn't already have them (which pretty much everyone who wants them does). Aside from that, today's got nothing.

Is it 7 eastern yet? I'm trying to decide if I want darksiders or not and I'm gonna base that decision on tomorrow's deals... :)
It's 5. Also, I would definitely recommend Darksiders for $5, but I can understand you wanting to wait. I'm waiting on Bejeweled 3 for that exact reason.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO BUY DARKSIDERS FROM THIS SALE: You can unlock a pre-order exclusive scythe in-game called the Harvester by going to the Enter Code part of the pause screen. Put in "The Hollow Lord" (without "s), and it'll be unlocked in the shop for you for free. It's a bit OP and makes shit easier, but the option is there if you want it. And it does NOT disable achievements/trophies. It's better to get it early because it replaces your current Scythe (and starts off from level 1, regardless of how leveled up your original scythe was), as well as not needing to grind 1,000 souls for your first scythe purchase.

Eh, Infinite was decent, not GotY material, but fun none the less. At least you actually get to control it. That was my complaint with Metal Gear 2 on, spent most of the time watching a low grade convoluted for no good reason story. It was fun, when it let me play. At least with Bioshock I am not twiddling with my controller for 15 minutes at a time and then skip the story for the rest of the game. Let me enjoy PLAYING to go along with my sub-standard fiction, for Pete's sake! And I got Infinite for "free" on PS+, so I guess that also helped my not being disappointed. Colombia was also a pretty interesting environment, too.

Bioshock 1 did a better job of surprising you in making you realize you were being "controlled" most of the way (even though it was really only because you could only continue in the direction it wanted you to go in reality). Spoiler, I guess, but at this point who wants to play Bioshock 1 that hasn't already?

TLoU was good, I enjoy it (haven't finished it yet though). The story is well done, and has a good REAL emotional impact. The gameplay is very Uncharted like, which feels floaty to me, but not bad. Not my GotY either, but it is a contender.

I always felt Splinter Cell was how Metal Gear should have been done. Get rid of the radio screen, do the "filler" part of the story while you are playing. Shorter, to the point cut scenes. I do, however, prefer the actual gameplay in Metal Gear over Splinter Cell. Kojima has just reached the point where his "artistry" is beyond question at Konami and he has carte blanc to indulge himself.

Darksiders (1 & 2) are very good, albeit flawed games. Definitely worth the price of the deals. A good God of War clone combined with a good Zelda clone is the best way to describe it. They don't really do anything "new", but it is a good marriage of games with a great art style. My favorite part is even the bosses have a respect for your character in their interactions. They know you are a bad-ass horseman. They know you have laid legions to waste. They don't like you, but they know fighting you isn't going to be a cakewalk.

Grabbed Bejeweled 3 and MGS Peacewalker. Runner2 and World of Tanks are dominating my 360 time right now though, so the backlog is just getting bigger and bigger.

Thanks for the hint about the Harvester Bobby. I have to replay the first 1/3 of Darksiders from scratch due to some issues I had with achievements due to playing it offline while my account was tied to another console (I'm not an achievement whore but I just hate when I have all the end achievements for a game but none of the beginning ones) and that'll make it way easier and quicker for me.

Just an open question for anyone: Can someone either sell or unsell me on Ridge Racer Unbounded? And also maybe explain the DLC if any of it is worth getting (I assume it's just all cars, which I tend not to care about, rather than tracks or game modes). I have a bunch of racers that I hardly ever play anymore (NFS: Hot Pursuit, Split/Second, Burnout Paradise, Dirt 3, Driver: San Francisco, Forza Horizon) and worry that I'd just be hoarding one more to that pile. But I do like that it's kind of a mashup of an old school Burnout game and Split/Second from the looks of it, so I am intrigued. But the fact that it doesn't do local multiplayer turns me off as I've been searching for games to couch co-op with my nephews these days (on that note any recommendations on good couch co-op racers). Thanks

I played plenty of Ridge Racer Unbounded. Did you ever play any FlatOut game, especially FlatOut 2 or Ultimate Carnage? Ridge Racer Unbounded is more like a FlatOut game (unsurprising, since it's from Bugbear who made that series) than a Ridge Racer one, but it doesn't completely abandon the tradition of RR games with heavy reliance on drifting. The game has exciting, eventful and explosive tracks, tons of game modes, and generally a lot of content. If you enjoy the driving (there's a demo up), you'll like the game because there's a lot of things to do. There's even a soundtrack I liked, a lot of great EDM stuff ranging from drum n bass to electro house and dubstep. Artstyle and the driving also reminds a bit of Split/Second, with grim colours but bright explosions and sexy dynamic texts on the walls rather than a classic HUD telling you your position - very stylish. The most unique feature is the great track editor, which has you placing a lot of different "city blocks". You can't stack 'em, so no vertical track-building, but you can literally build up your own cities made up of intersections, jumps, bay areas and whatnot, with also the possibility of adding ramps, barrels, obstacles on the course, effectively allowing a great liberty and variety that I can't remember in any other racing game on the X360. The online has always been a bit broken, even at launch it's been a mess to join a match, but you can download anyone's tracks (or set of tracks, you can literally build campaigns and let others enjoy 'em), so the single player (or private matches) do offer a lot of value, with the AI adapting pretty well to custom tracks usually. It's a great game that had a mixed reception because: it's not really a Ridge Racer game, the driving and artstyle is not very original (reminding FlatOut and Split/Second), and with a barely working online it was hard to recommend it at full price. But it's now for 5$, which is an absolutely amazing price - even if you don't end up enjoying some of the "basic" gameplay elements, you can create some fluke tracks with crazy jumps, obstacle courses or tons of explosives - or try out what other crazy people invented. It's got no local co-op but there's plenty of content to justify such a low price.

As for local co-op racing, I can recommend Blur and Split/Second the most. Those have been some of the finest arcade racers the last generation, and have a nice local multiplayer too - especially Blur.

I'm probably going to be picking up MGS5 this summer but I haven't played a metal gear game since MGS2. Should I pick up Peace Walker or would I be lost story wise unless I played MGS3 first
