This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I think I woulda been more impressed if he obtained that 1M on the 360-era of GS (i.e. 360, GFWL, WP, W8, etc). If you just count the 360 GS it's only 972505.

Some guy reaches 1 mehllion gamerscore and in the meantime...

Cool. Xbox Live Rewards did deposit my credit today. So I got Soul Calibur V by doing monthly surveys and passing 25,000 gs.

For me, getting 25,000 gs was the day I started getting 2% back on my digital purchases. For Stallion, it was Tuesday.

I Think my average gamerscore amount I get in a year is around 15,000-20,000 a year and I've passed the 100k mark last year. Also I have a total of about 503 360 games and about a quarter of them played and beaten. Yup, this website...

Even if no one else appreciates your street fighter movie reference, I did. And to them I say

I currently have $6.66 in my microsoft account. I almost don't want to buy anything now.

Did Lord of the Rings Conquest get delisted?!
You now bear the Dark Ones mark !!!!

Probably, the servers got shut down and even EA won't try and sell you a multiplayer game with no servers to play on............I hope.

I haven't bothered with Xbox Rewards in over a year. So what do the points translate to? I am assuming 1000 points = $1 right?

I'd recommend giving it another try. I've gotten $20 worth of credit within the last year without going too far out of my way to get them (surveys). I just started the Bing rewards thing less than a month ago and that is already looking promising (after spending over an hour on Google trying to find a song I haven't heard in 5+ years without success, then find it first result on Bing in 2 seconds).

Thanks for the info guys. I am about 7K GS from Master status, but I don't think it's worth it to speed up my natural GS accumulation rate (IE. I won't be playing Hanna Montana). I hardly buy anything these days since I pretty much have everything out there that is worth picking up, so this program is not that enticing to me.

How does this bing rewards works ? I mean, are you selected or anyone can enter ?

Speaking of heart-string-tugging-video-game-stuff, I saw this video the other day of a level some dude made in Minecraft for his dead wife.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUfGOrsw7ik

I might have gotten emotional if I wasn't such a manly man.

Being deemed "hacker", "cheater", or plain "unfair" for unexpectedly getting achievements in idiotic. I had a lot of achievements that popped up for no reason at all if not game glitch: glitch I did not even cause on purpose to boost my score, it just happened. Once I happened to rewind during a pit stop in F1 2011 and it gave me the perfect pit stop achievement despite not even having done it again. Or when they introduced the flat worlds to Minecraft, as soon as I started up my first game on it, the 3 achievement I did not own yet unlocked themselves. How is that in any way my fault in the eyes of TA people?

Also, certain games do require some serious boosting to get them right. Hell, nearly every game you play, the moment you see an achievement, has you boosting towards it, with you intentionally playing differently just to get a certain achievement. Every non-accidental achievement would become boosted, right? And some games with their (dead) online scene, can only be 100%'d with boosting. And lastly, given the unstable connection I have, I do have multiple offline achievements, but at least I'm not like the guys who go offline and come back with 100k+ extra Gs, including stuff like unobtainable achievements (due to the game not existing anymore) like 1vs100.

And I don't even boost my achievements, much. I only just passed 61k after 4.5 years of X360, and until a year or so ago, I was only casually interested in achievements to begin with. Lately, when I begin a game in my backlog, the first thing I do is check how the achievements are (in case there's crazy missable ones or whatever shenanigans, like the stupid one in Assassin's Creed 1 where you have to get through all dialog with Lucy in one playthrough and there's no way to go back or replay chapters). I didn't even do that with most games I have, and very rarely I even bothered getting loads of achievements in games that actually require an insane time to get them. For example, on most COD, Halo and such games I'm around 300-500Gs, despite having played them a lot in some cases. I just can't get myself to frustrate myself over insanely difficult and complicated stuff just to get a couple extra Gs - time-consuming is one thing, plain boring or requiring page-long guides is another.

"Man...   we talkin 'bout GamerScore and CHEEVMENTS....  not a game... not a game.... we talkin' 'bout GamerScore and CHEEVMENTS..."

Tempted to grab the Titanfall season pass, but I get the feeling that once I do, the Xbox Rewards site will make a deal for it. I got screwed on the Dead Rising 3 pass the last time, (bought it 3 days before they made a reward for it).

Is this before or after you bought Dante's Inferno? You did buy it right?
Nope. Not honestly interested in Dante's Inferno.

It has splitscreen. And that digital price was significantly less than even a halfway-decent-condition used copy.

I didn't expect it to ever go on sale, I was just waiting for the right time. fuck.

That's really amazing. It looks like she's a sphinx and inside is her tomb.

Also, real men know it's okay to cry :p

This week I read a great article about the making of the Street Fighter movie. It mentioned how troubled the production was and how the writer/director had first agreed to keep the focus on 7 SF characters but Capcom kept requiring he add more as development went on. Each time they added a character it took away focus and he'd have to quickly rewrite the script. It got butchered.

While filming JCVD would party all night and had a bad drug problem and was always late on set. He had trouble pronouncing his lines.

Raul Julia was so sick that they had to completely flip the schedule so he could get a little healthier and gain weight and film later. As a result they had to push up the stunt work and film it first with basically no training.

Lots of people got sick filming on location and some people never returned. They ended up leaving a week early as a result and were behind schedule and the studio didn't want to allow reshoots and just said deal with it.

They aimed for PG but a recent shooting made everyone worried so they cut out blood and when they submitted the film for rating they got a G. So they added in a curse word to get it bumped up lol. There was so much wrong behind the scenes it's no wonder the movie was terrible.

We talking of the polygon article involving Street Fighter? After listening to the podcast "How Did This Get Made?" I'm more curious on how they chose the montage for all that's good in the world "white married couple, black married couple, dolphins".

I think some ppl see TA the wrong way. As it was mentioned b4, the only ppl who get reported as "cheaters" are the ones who unlock impossible achievements (i.e. unobtainables, MP after servers are shut down, or getting an added 10K GS overnight) b/c it is obvious. There aren't achievement police constantly tracking how you get each and every achievement.

I'm a casual gamer w/ only 61K gamerscore, and I've been on the site for 3 yrs now. I think it's a great tool for scheduling/signing-up MP sessions, and keeping track of gaming progress. I have unlocked a few achievements here and there w/o trying  b/c the game glitched. Stuff like that happens, nothing to worry about.

It mentioned how troubled the production was and how the writer/director had first agreed to keep the focus on 7 SF characters but Capcom kept requiring he add more as development went on.
Fortunately, that was the last time Capcom made a really stupid decision when it comes to the Street Fighter property. :p

That's really cool. When I was a young whippersnapper (and I'm older than most of you!), I met a guy on a BBS (yes, pre-Internet!). We both had C-64s and ended up meeting up to trade games. It turned out he was a quadriplegic who lived in a nursing home. He typed on the keyboard with a stick in his mouth. I felt bad for the guy, but I was also amazed at how he had the patience to use the computer like that. He'd solved a bunch of the old Infocom adventures (e.g. Zork). I guess when you're that immobile the computer is your window to the world.

Do you guys think I should get Earth Defense?
No.

Two options, either save your money and get 2025 (the one that just came out) or save more money and get 2017 used.

The choice is yours, either way get it for 360 (though 2017 for Vita is supposed to be the best version, there's no PS3 version iirc).

Alright, sounds good. Guess Insect Armageddon is crap? Lol

Armageddon is indeed crap. 2017 is fantastic if you have a friend to play with on the couch, as there is no online play. Also, you will both need lots of patience and be willing to pour some significant time into it to level up. It's well worth the investment.

I haven't yet played the new one, but I hear it's more like 2017 but with online co-op. However, it remains a c-list game and as such will drop like a rock in no time. Save your cash until then.

Thanks this Xbox Live Rewards talk reminded me of doing this month's survey lol. Close to getting to that 5K mark to redeem and yeah I've gotten a lot back with that program.

Some guy reaches 1 mehllion gamerscore and in the meantime...

Really nice to see this video. Some charities work towards potential cures that may not happen in our lifetimes, while others work to meet immediate needs in a crisis situation. This story impressed me because this charity is enriching lives through a hobby that I have also enjoyed greatly since I was a young teen. Thanks for sharing the clip - I dropped them a modest donation to help keep up the good work for my fellow gamers.

ProfessorMicro is 100% correct. Also, yes, from personal experience (not my copy), 2025 is the true sequel to 2017, that IA never was (and yes online co-op).

And it will drop in price quickly (it's a niche series here), I'm holding out for $20 myself.

And a heads-up to all EDF fans in this thread, if you are already paying for Gold or plan on playing a lot of local co-op, DO NOT GET THE PS3 VERSION. Local co-op on that version annihilates the FPS, it's not even funny. It's not as bad as Bayonetta (it may have been pre-patch), but even with patches, it is night and day (not just in local co-op, but local co-op is where it is most apparent). Sandlot rushed it out instead of optimizing it for PS3 and it shows. Do not support this garbage.

How is Sanctum 2 and Foul Play?

I have never gotten into the Soul Caliber games....is Soul Caliber V much better than the other titles?

How is Sanctum 2 and Foul Play?
Sanctum 2 is a really awesome if you've got friends to play co-op with. I played it for the first time last night for 5 hours straight and had a blast. It's a mix of tower defense and first-person hoard mode shooting, having you setup towers/create mazes to try and keep the enemy from getting to your core, but also being able to run up and shoot them yourself (ala Dungeon Defenders, Orcs Must Die, Sang-Froid Tale of Werewolves). The challenge was just right and the progression system gives you a lot of cool new things to tryout after every round. All that said it's really a game built for co-op (and you'll definitely be needing to communicate a lot so it helps if you aren't playing with total strangers), and I couldn't really recommend it as a SP game since the difficulty is way too high and the game loses a lot of its fun factor.

In short it's well worth picking up, provided you have 3 friends do the same.

I has been cheaper before, and personally the game becomes too repetitive. I didn't finish i just got that bored, the combat seems interesting at the start but after a while it becomes unbearable. As i said, that's just my opinion.
Felt exactly the same way but I did finish. Someone else on here said it was like watching an anime with some time to play in between scenes - something like that anyways. I started to fall asleep during the cutscenes since they were so long. I'd wait for the price to drop down again.

Regarding Sanctum: it has a massive title update of 800 mb for a total of 1.6 gb. The max amount of towers you can build is 15 and you can share resources with your team mates. I hope that clears doubts bout if it was patched or not. Btw the game is awesome in coop. We are 3 people so theres still room if someone wants to join the ride.

I have Sanctum 2, Giana Sisters, and Capsized on the PC (probably included in cheap Steam Bundles I bought). Is there any reason I'd want to pay $5 each for the XBL versions over the Steam ones?

Capsized doesn't appear to support the X360 controller, so that gives the XBL version an advantage over the PC. The other 2 I'm not aware of any advantage. IMHO, Steam games have a huge advantage over XBL or PSN games because Steam hasn't said they are going to stop supporting all of our games in less than 3 years as both MS and Sony have said they will do. Unfortunately neither company has been specific if stop supporting means simply taking away online multiplayer (which I could live with) or if it means something far worse like cutting off old consoles from online access, removing all old games from download servers, etc. Until they give the details I'm assuming the worst so I'm buying as little as possible from XBL or PSN lately.

Hexodius has poor reviews, and Foul Play has decent ones though Foul Play's gameplay looks pretty repetitive to me. Is Foul Play worth $5?

I agree about Sanctum 2 and Giana Sisters (especially if you got them cheap in Humble Bundles). in addition Sanctum 2 has a higher playerbase on PC, so it's easier to find people for co-op. Capsized is glitched and missing content from the PC version on the 360 (which is why 2 achievements are broken for the 360 version), so the PC version is better there too.

They also never patched it, and I can't support that kind of lazy crap. I looked it up and people seem to be able to use the 360 controller with the PC version, according to this thread. -> http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2029278
