This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

i hate how the last two weeks, both xbl and psn sales have mirrored each other. =\ I'd love a halo or gears of war sale on xbl. A mass effect sale on psn would be dope. but that shit never happens.
Expect more of this with the new consoles, since exclusives are going to be a substantial minority this generation due to the similarities of system architecture between the Xbone and the PS4 (and additionally, the PC). Ports between the three are cheaper than ever to make, so multiplats will reign supreme (meaning similar digital sales on both platforms).

The only sequel that would get all my money in the blink of an eye would be Fallout 4.

My girlfriend is replaying F3 now, and despite my huge backlog, despite having all achievmnts and despite the 400 hours i put into it years ago, I'm willing to play it again from scratch.

NBA 2k14 -- 50% off ($60 -> $30)  Not gold exclusive.

*yawwwwn* at the Bioshock sale.  This sale does nothing to dispel my previous "Same four sales over and over" statement.

I agree with you, BobbyTastic. The only addendum I would add is that with the high costs of development for next-generation console and PC gaming, we are also probably going to be seeing an even greater divide between AAA and Indie Game Development. In a way, this mirrors the current movie industry with its emphasis on blockbusters and independent films. If this Harvard professor is correct, this massive promotion for only a few select titles will probably increase in the future.

http://www.npr.org/2013/10/24/239795165/blockbusters-go-big-or-go-home-says-harvard-professor

The thing that I don't like about this is that we have already seen the negative impacts of this trend as countless studios have been closed by publishers for not meeting sales expectations - making what is already a stressful environment into a genuine pressure cooker (remember, "crunch" is still the norm in the industry). While I think it is wonderful that we have titles like Titanfall and Infamous: Second Son as examples of AAA video games benefiting from talented developers given the appropriate resources to shine, I love way too many quirky and niche games that tend to be more flawed but willing to take risks that scare publishers more than an Ouya exclusivity contract.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions is one of my favorite games of all time, but would any publisher be willing to distribute that game in this environment? What scares me is that the answer to that can be seen in the fact that the last real iteration of that franchise was released in 2007 in Japan.

I beat Scarygirl tonight.  It was very mediocre.  The later levels put more focus on combat and less focus on platforming, which sucks because the combat in the game is dull and and can be difficult because it seems like it was implemented as an afterthought.

Also got around to playing Black Knight Sword and Alien Spidy earlier in the week.  Black Knight Sword was really good until it started getting too tough later in the game (I wish I had started the game on easy, wasn't about to replay through the first 3 worlds again).  Alien Spidy just tries to do too much.  It wants to be a challenging platformer AND rank you on every level, which doesn't work.  You have to get 40 stars to unlock the first world boss, I was at 31 when I beat all the levels and had no desire to grind out 9 more stars.  Also, the swing mechanics don't work nearly well enough for as exact as the game wants you to be.

Yep, yep, yep. I had high hopes for it and was supremely disappointed the longer I played. Was glad I only paid a pittance for it, but still...it could have been a lot better.

Yeah I think I paid $5. No regrets but not a shining beacon of my purchasing acumen either. I do regret spending $5 on Alien Spidy tho.

Tempted to get Bioshock Infinite, but I still need to finish the first two :/

Does anyone know what time Naval Strike is supposed to be live?

Just finished Dark Souls 2. Thinking of leaving PvP for later or else i won't be digging my backlog. With just 20 GB left from my HD, gotta focus on it.

Was doing some hd cleaning. Cheese and crackers there were a lot of title updates. Changed my policy of only deleting games from "My Games" if I have all achievements to completed (story) or games I'll probably never play again *vomit*Yaris*rip out my eyes*

Mobile double post. Cheese and crackers I hate CAG mobile sometimes.

Anyways I was able to delete about 50 things from "My Games" and only cleared 10 GB :(

[customspoiler=Nonchalant Question] So.. not that I'm asking for myself or anything, but where do you find one of those? :whistle2: [/customspoiler]
Serious answer for a not so serious question: The Medical Field! I'm answering this because my friends always get pissed when I get a girl who games. My last 3 women where all gamers I met in the OR. Don't know what it is, but they're out there. My last girl was the Orthopedic Coordinator for surgery, I walked into her house to find an Atari with more games than I could count on my hands and feet... almost made me cry tears of joy. The thing is, most girls these days are gamers. They've grown up with them all their lives so it is way more accepted than it once was. You may not find a hardcore Fallout 3 woman, but most will throw down in a few rounds of your average XBLA game.

On topic: I think I'll be buying Bioshock Infinite, $10 is the sweet spot!

I never got the last Jiggy in Banjo-Tooie because of what's behind your second spoiler. That section is complete bullshit, I still don't believe it's possible to beat without a special controller or something.
Curiosity got the best of me and, after some digging around to find it, I hooked up my N64 to check where I left things with Tooie. I did collect all the Jiggies, and actually got all but 1 thing in the game. [customspoiler=Spoiler]The Cheato page for beating Canary Mary the 2nd time in Cloud Cuckooland.[/customspoiler] I definitely remember going to the final battle having missed more than that, must've gone back to get the rest after beating it.

do you need to own bioshock infinite to play Burial at Sea?

(i assume you do, but i was hoping it might be like, farcry 3 blood dragon.... i mean.. they shoulda made it stand alone, if it isn't lol...  . )

Could not have said it better myself. Well put.

I was more specifying the Fallout 3 kind of lass, but your advice is much appreciated. Not that I was asking for it or anything. *ahem* O:)

It's funny because I went to a big medical field school for undergrad (Johns Hopkins), and I don't think I ever met the type of lady you described. Most were too busy with their studies for that (but then again most the guys were too), aside from maybe a DotA (the original) player or two. (This was back in the day before even LoL existed.)

Hah. sickman snaggin' ladies in the medical field. Poetic.
Post of the day?

Look into rol play communities ;) But it has its disadvantages: I had to buy mass effect 3, skyrim and such on day one, ouch.

Wow Australia is getting raped this week. Bioshock infinite is $26.38. I don't even think it's that much new in the USA. Thankfully I'm holding out for a used disc copy so I'm not too worried. Just bought Dishonored so that'll have to do the trick for me for the next bit until I can grab a cheap used copy for under $10.

Speaking of Dishonored, did anyone find they get a bit of motion sickness playing that game on a console? I think it's the odd FOV and the bobbing movement. I've been trying to adjust it but still need to find the sweet spot.

My eyes teared up a bit from focusing too much in Dishonored and I remember having to play for awhile before being adjusted to the speed and movement.

Wasn't as bad as Half-life in The Orange Box though. That made me super nauseous. Mirror's Edge would probably be bad too.

I'm sure everyone says things like this when talking about, BioShock Infinite, but that game really is worth your time and money. I can't recommend it enough to any of you.
I know the game is good mate, and I appreciate your advice, but I own the first two and haven't even started them yet. Besides, I don't have your "beat and delete" policy, so my HDD is cursing me every time I buy a game on demand. This game plus DLC is about 10 gb, so I'd rather prefer to buy it physical if it ever gets a complete edition.

xbox one sale...on 28th thru 30th

COD Ghosts 33%off

Thief 50%off

Tomb Raider 50%off

those games also gets the % on 360 during those days too.

I might nab thief for $30 on X0..just have to check it out...hmmmm

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct - $12.49

Halo: Spartan Assault - $9.99

Thoughts on these games?
I know it's not the same but I have Spartan Assault on my Windows phone and found it incredibly mediocre. Even accounting for virtual controls I think it's a 5 dollar game and only suited for people who can't get enough Halo or deeply love any sort of twin stick shooter.

Also, there's no way they could have classed the game up enough to escape the "I'm playing a phone game on my Xbox" feeling so there's that.

I got it at launch, probably wasn't worth it (GCU helped), but I would say it's worth it at 30, wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews made it seem, I haven't beat it yet but the beginning was pretty slow though.
Good to know. Thanks! I like stealth games so this was on my radar, until the reviews and gameplay videos hit. Then my price point for it dropped to $20. Will still want it at some point so it's good to know it's still worthwhile to play.

Thief is one of those games that is plagued with problems but can still be fun to play.

Problems include: Horrible map/city layout, repetitive actions, the story and ending were blah, and every single time you pick something up the game lags/freezes

I played the 360 version though, I would hope the next gen versions didn't require the loading between areas or the lag issues

Yeah, $20 is a fair price for it. It definitely should have been a better game, but it's at least playable and enjoyable.

Yeah, the map/city layout is definitely weird and the story is just kinda thrown in there to have one. Playing on the One I haven't noticed any lag when picking up items though.

So If I buy the Burial at Sea episode one for $7.49 can I get episode 2 for free?

Or do I have to buy the Burial at Sea listed (Episode 1 of 2) for $14.99 to get episode two for free.

I'm kind of confused by the listing. Can anyone help me out because I am very interested in getting this. Thanks.

There are 2 episodes but 3 items

Episode 1

Episode 2 Part 1

Episode 2 Part 2

Episode 2 just comes in 2 parts because it's large

You don't get Episode 2 for free at all, unless you buy the Season Pass

Ok now I understand. I was a little confused this morning. Why didn't they put the season pass on sale. I guess I'm going to wait it out a little longer hoping for a season pass sale. thanks.

Episode 1 is $7.49

Episode 2 is $14.99, but the download is split into multiple parts because XBLM only supports DLC downloads of up to 2 GB. So you're only charged for one download but you need all of the parts to actually play it. (The Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3 also had to do this)

Or you can get the Season Pass which includes both Burial at Sea episodes, Clash in the Clouds, and some items/powerups.

Because if it was even 25% off, it would be the same price as just episode 2 of the DLC, which would be stupid of them to do the day it releases.
Yeah... Not speaking to whether it's actually worth the price or not, but the Infinite season pass is pretty crazy compared to other season passes and the difference between paying for the parts separately. Like 50% savings versus $40 for both Burial at Sea episodes, Clash in the Clouds, and the powerups. I think when they set the price for the pass they didn't really have a plan for what would be in it and how much each thing would cost.

Agreed, the Season Pass is a really good deal. I'll probably pick it up eventually on PSN, hopefully on sale, but it's nice to know even if it's not on sale and I end up paying full price it's a pretty good deal. If they wanted to get all the cheapo's like me to buy it, they should announce they're removing it from the store. I'd bite in a second if I knew it was going away.

Not saying I want that to happen, just that it would work on a lot of cheap holdouts like me.

Major Nelson's twitter says that is a preview of some of the xb1 sales starting Friday so there may be even more we don't know yet.
No, the XB1 games you see listed (and their 360 counterparts) are currently NOT on sale yet. If you look at the fine print those 3 titles won't be on sale until Friday, and will last through next Monday. That's the preview he's referring to, showing you that they will be placed on sale soon.
